What is Extended AE?
3 parts
Extended AE is an add-on for Applied Energistics 2 that streamlines storage and crafting workflows. It also brings some AE features from older Minecraft versions back to modern AE. If you already run an AE2 network and want less clutter and faster autocrafting, this mod is for you.[1][2]
The pack includes Extended AE 1.21-2.0.3 for NeoForge.[3]
What you get
- Bigger autocrafting tools: a 36-slot Pattern Provider and Interface, an Extended Pattern Access Terminal, and a Pattern Modifier for batch-editing and cloning patterns.[1]
- The Assembler Matrix, a multiblock crafter built as a rectangular prism with edge lengths between 3 and 7. Each craft core runs 8 crafting jobs at the same time, and it saves you channels.[4]
- The Circuit Slicer slices material blocks straight into processor prints. It is 9x faster than the inscriber at most times.[5]
- The ME Canner fills containers with fluids by default. Every operation costs 80 AE. Other contents need addons such as Applied Flux, Applied Mekanistics or Applied Botanics Addon.[6]
- The ME Active Formation Plane places blocks or drops items actively, with no subnet needed.[7]
The Entro system
Most of the mod's items and machines are built around the Entro Crystal. You get it by harvesting Entro Cluster from Entroized Fluix Budding, which you make by injecting Ender Dust into Fluix.[8][9]
Many of the extended devices are too complex for a crafting table. You will need the Crystal Assembler to craft most of them, and it can also do in-world transformation recipes such as fluix transformation.[10]
Progression
Unverified The sources I was given don't show where Extended AE fits in the pack's progression. The mod is not on the ATM Star quest path, and no quests in this pack involve it.
How do you get started with Extended AE?
7 parts
Extended AE starts with a crystal you grow yourself. The Entro Crystal is the main crafting ingredient for most of the mod's items and machines, so this is the order I'd go in: seed, crystal, dust, ingot, machine frame, then the Crystal Assembler.[8][10][11]
Make an Entro Seed
The Entro Seed is your starting point. Right-click a Fluix Block in the world with it and the block turns into Budding Entroized Fluix.[12][13]

Grow and harvest Entro Crystals
Budding Entroized Fluix grows Entro Buds, much like Certus Quartz works in AE2. You harvest the Entro Cluster to get Entro Crystal.[8][9][13]
The Crystal Assembler can also make a budding block from a Fluix Block and a seed. Turning the block by hand gives a better grade of Budding Entroized Fluix than injecting the seed with a machine.[12][14]
If you break a bud before it is fully grown, you get Entro Shard instead. Shards can be crafted back into crystals.[14][15]
Get Entro Dust
Entro Dust comes from crushing an Entro Crystal or from breaking Budding Entroized Fluix. This pack adds a Mekanism crushing recipe that turns a crystal into dust.[14][16]

Make Entro Infused Ingots
Entro Crystal is too friable for machine frames, so it gets fused with gold to improve its ductility. The result is Entro Infused Ingot, which the pack lists as a reaction-type recipe.[14][17]
Craft the Extended Machine Frame
The Extended Machine Frame is the foundation of ExtendedAE, and most block-form machines in the mod need one.[11]

Build the Crystal Assembler
Most extended devices are too complex for a crafting table. The Crystal Assembler crafts most of them, and it can also do some in-world transformation recipes, like fluix transformation. Its screen face can't connect to your network.[10]

Where to go next
With a Crystal Assembler running, a good first upgrade is the Circuit Slicer. It slices material blocks straight into processor prints and is about 9x faster than an inscriber most of the time. Its recipe needs the Inscriber Concurrent Press among its ingredients.[5][14]

How does Extended AE work?
9 parts
Extended AE builds on top of Applied Energistics 2, so everything here plugs into your normal ME network. This section covers how the machines, multiblocks and bus-style devices behave, and which values the pack has set.[1][2]
The foundation: Machine Frame and Crystal Assembler
The Extended Machine Frame is the base of the mod. Most block-form machines in Extended AE need one.[11]

Most of the extended devices are too complex for a crafting table, so you make them in the Crystal Assembler. It also does certain in-world transformation recipes, like fluix transformation. Its screen face can't connect to the network. In this pack, device.enable_crystal_assembler_inscribe_processors is true, so the Crystal Assembler is also allowed to run processor inscriber recipes.[10][18]

Entro crystals
Entro Crystal is the main ingredient for most Extended AE items and machines. It grows from Budding Entroized Fluix, much like Certus Quartz. To get that, you craft an Entro Seed and right-click a Fluix Block with it. Breaking a bud before it is fully grown gives you Entro Shard.[8][13][15]

Assembler Matrix multiblock
The Assembler Matrix is the big multiblock crafter. It can run many crafting jobs at once, as long as your ME network has enough patterns, and it saves you channels.[4]
- Shape: a rectangular prism with edge lengths between 3 and 7. It has to be completely filled, not hollow.[4]
- Edges use Assembler Matrix Frame, faces use Assembler Matrix Wall, and the interior holds pattern, craft and speed cores.[4]
- A valid matrix needs at least one pattern core and one craft core.[4]
- Each pattern core gives 36 pattern slots. The matrix only takes patterns from its pattern cores.[4]
- Each craft core runs 8 crafting jobs at the same time.[4]
- Speed cores: 5 give full speed, and more than 5 add nothing.[4]
- When the matrix is formed and powered, the lines on the frame turn blue. Right-click a formed, online matrix to open its GUI, where you can put in or search patterns and see how many jobs are running.[4]

Single-block machines
- Extended Molecular Assembler: runs 8 crafting jobs at once and is 2x faster than the normal one. You can't put a pattern in it directly.[19]
- Extended Inscriber: runs 4 inscribing jobs at once. It has a button for the max stack size of its inventory, and setting it to 1 is suggested to avoid possible issues when you automate it.[20]
- Extended Charger: charges 4 items at the same time.[21]
- Circuit Slicer: slices material blocks straight into processor prints, and is 9x faster than the inscriber at most times. Glass faces without a port can't connect to the network.[5]
- ME Crystal Fixer: repairs and upgrades budding certus blocks. It needs power, and you right-click it to insert material. It can't turn flawed into flawless, so flawed is the highest tier it reaches.[22]
Power and containers
The ME Canner fills containers with fluids by default. It needs an addon for other things (Applied Flux, Applied Mekanistics or Applied Botanics Addon), which lets it handle energy, Mekanism gas or Botania mana. Every operation costs 80 AE. Only its top and bottom sides accept energy and connect to the network. For autocrafting, the pattern must contain only the stuff to fill and the container to fill. In Empty mode it can drain containers, and you swap the inputs and outputs in the pattern.[6]
ME Infinity Cells hold 2.1 billion items or fluids. You can extract infinite water or cobblestone from them, or inject it. In this pack the idle cost is set by item.infinity_cell_energy_cost, which is 8 AE/t.[18][23]
Crafting Shaped

Wireless Connector
The ME Wireless Connector links two networks. Distance is limited and it can't cross dimensions. You link two connectors by clicking each one with the ME Wireless Setup Kit, and a sneak-click clears the kit's current setting. The connector changes texture once a link is established. In this pack the max range is 1000, set by device.wireless_connector_max_range.[18][24]
Connectors can be colored like cables, and only connect to cables or connectors of the same color. Power cost rises with distance on a non-linear curve, so it can get very high when they are far apart. Each card reduces the energy cost by 10%.[24]
Item handling and storage
- Extended Import/Export Buses are faster than the normal ones and have more upgrade slots. device.extended_io_bus_multiplier sets the speed multiplier, and this pack uses 8. The ME Extended IO Port is also 8x faster than the normal one.[18][25][26]
- ME Oversize Interface has the same number of slots as a normal interface but holds more per slot. With this pack's device.oversize_interface_multiplier of 16, that is 1024 (64x16) items per slot.[18][27]
- ME Extended Interface has a larger config inventory, and ME Extended Pattern Provider has a larger pattern inventory, so you may not need subnets.[28][29]
- ME Extended Drive is a bigger drive that holds 20 storage cells.[30]
- ME Ingredient Buffer is a storage block that holds 36 types of anything, from items to fluids.[31]
Filtering buses
- ME Mod Storage Bus and ME Mod Export Bus filter by mod name or mod id. Separate several mods with commas.[32][33]
- Tag Storage and Tag Export Buses filter by item or fluid tags. The Tag Storage Bus supports basic logic operators, for example a wildcard like forge:raw_materials/* or forge:ingots/* | forge:gems/*.[34][35]
- Precise Export Bus exports exact quantities, and only if the container can fully accept the whole output. With 3 cobblestones set, it stops when the network has fewer than 3, or when the target chest can't hold all 3.[36]
- Precise Storage Bus is filtered with a number and only inserts items up to that limit.[37]
- Threshold Export Bus exports when the stored amount is above or below a threshold, depending on its mode. With copper set to 128, ABOVE exports when the network holds more than 128, and BELOW exports when it holds less.[38]
- Threshold Level Emitter acts like a Reset-Set latch. With a lower threshold of 100 and an upper threshold of 150, it turns on above 150, stays on while the amount falls, and turns off only below 100.[39]
Patterns and upgrades
The Extended Pattern Access Terminal adds better pattern search by ingredient name, in-GUI highlighting of matched patterns, and in-world highlighting of the Pattern Provider, which is handy for finding a stuck provider during big jobs.[40]
Pattern Modifier edits patterns in bulk. In Multiply Mode you multiply or divide a processing pattern's input and output amounts. Division only works when the amounts divide evenly, and the cap on a single ingredient is 999999. This pack sets the multiplier buttons in item.pattern_modifier_multipliers to 2, 3, 5 and 7. Replace Mode swaps one ingredient for another, with slot A replaced by slot B. Clone Mode copies a pattern, and Clear turns patterns into blank ones.[18][41]

The upgrade items (Pattern Provider Upgrade, Interface Upgrade, Import/Export Bus Upgrade, Pattern Access Terminal Upgrade and Drive Upgrade) turn normal devices into extended ones without breaking them. Sneak and right-click the device, and all of its settings and inventory are kept.[42]
ME Packing Tape packs an in-world ME device into a package item when you sneak and right-click it, keeping its settings and inventory. To unpack, right-click with the package as if placing the device. It only works on whitelisted devices. This pack's item.me_packing_tape_whitelist covers the extended and normal interfaces, pattern providers and drives, in block and cable forms.[18][43]
How do you progress through Extended AE?
5 parts
Unverified No quests in this pack are confirmed to cover Extended AE, and the mod does not appear to sit on the main quest path. There is no quest order to follow, so the tiers below are ordered by what the in-pack recipes require.
Extended AE progression is gated by one machine: the Crystal Assembler. Most extended devices are too complex for a crafting table, so you build the assembler first. It is the one thing in this chain that you craft by hand, and it also does some in-world transformation recipes.[10][14]

Craft this early. Nearly everything after it depends on it.
Tier 1: Entro materials
Entro is the mod's own material line. You can make an Entro Seed by hand. The Crystal Assembler can turn that seed into Budding Mostly Entroized Fluix when you give it a fluix block and water.[14]
For the Entro Infused Ingot you have two routes. One is a Crystal Assembler recipe. The other is a reaction recipe that comes from an addon. Either way you need Entro Dust first. The pack also adds a Mekanism crushing recipe that turns an Entro Crystal into dust.[14]

You can compress crystals into an Entro Block, which is a storage block, and unpack it again. A shard can also be recycled into a crystal.[14][44]
Unverified How you first obtain Entro Dust, for example from budding Entroized Fluix clusters, could not be confirmed from the available material.
Tier 2: Machine frame and concurrent processors
The Extended Machine Frame is the base for many later machines. The Crystal Assembler recipes use it for the Circuit Slicer, the Canner, the wireless connector and others.[14]

Next comes the Concurrent Processor. It is the extended tier's main processor, used in multi-thread machines so they can handle several jobs at once. You first make the Inscriber Concurrent Press in the Crystal Assembler, then craft the processor itself there too.[14][45]

The Circuit Slicer is worth building soon after. It slices material blocks straight into processor prints, which makes it up to 9x faster than an inscriber most of the time.[5][14]
Unverified The exact way to make a Printed Concurrent Circuit by hand was not confirmed in the available material.
Tier 3: Extended devices
With concurrent processors available, the extended versions of standard AE2 devices come next. These are all Crystal Assembler recipes that build on the normal AE2 device: ME Extended Pattern Provider, ME Extended Interface, ME Extended Drive, ME Extended IO Port, Extended Inscriber, Extended Charger and Extended Molecular Assembler.[14]
If you already have normal devices placed, you don't need to tear them down. The upgrade items replace a normal device with its extended version when you sneak and right-click it, and the settings and inventory are kept.[42]
- Pattern Provider Upgrade converts Pattern Providers, including cable-mounted ones.[42]
- Interface Upgrade converts Interfaces.[42]
- Import/Export Bus Upgrade converts Import and Export Buses.[42]
- Pattern Access Terminal Upgrade converts Pattern Access Terminals.[42]
- Drive Upgrade converts ME Drives.[42]
Tier 4: Assembler Matrix
The Assembler Matrix is the big endgame piece of this mod. It is a multiblock that runs many crafting jobs at once and saves channels. The frame recipe is changed in this pack, so follow the recipe below rather than any guide from outside the pack.[4][14]

The matrix is a solid rectangular prism with edges between 3 and 7 blocks long. Frames form the edges and walls form the faces. The inside is filled with cores, and you need at least one pattern core and one craft core.[4]
- Assembler Matrix Pattern Core: each one provides 36 pattern slots.[4]
- Assembler Matrix Craft Core: each one can run 8 crafting jobs at the same time.[4]
- Assembler Matrix Speed Core: 5 of them give full speed, and more than 5 add no extra boost.[4]

The Crystal Assembler also makes the pattern and speed cores. When the matrix is formed and powered, the lines on its frame turn blue.[4][14]
Optional extras
After the main chain you can pick what suits your base. The ME Canner fills containers, fluids by default, and every operation costs 80 AE. The ME Oversize Interface, ME Wireless Connector and ME Active Formation Plane are also Crystal Assembler recipes. Handy bus variants such as ME Tag Export Bus and ME Precise Storage Bus are available too.[6][7][14]
How does Extended AE work with other mods?
7 parts
Extended AE is an add-on for Applied Energistics 2, so almost everything it adds is built from AE2 parts. The in-pack recipes also reach into a few other mods. Here is where the links are.[1][14]
Applied Energistics 2 is the foundation
Your gateway is the Crystal Assembler. Its recipe uses AE2 parts such as the ME Crafting Terminal, the Logic Processor and the Sky Stone Tank, plus the Extended Machine Frame. You need it to craft most of the extended devices.[10][14]
Crafting Shaped

Many extended devices are upgraded versions of an AE2 device, made in the Crystal Assembler. Examples:[10][14]
- ME Extended Drive upgrades the ME Drive.[14]
- Extended Inscriber upgrades the Inscriber.[14]
- Extended Charger upgrades the Charger.[14]
- Extended Molecular Assembler upgrades the Molecular Assembler.[14]
- ME Extended Export Bus and ME Extended Import Bus build on the AE2 export and import buses.[14]
Several of these also use the AE2 Capacity Card and Acceleration Card. The smaller buses, such as the ME Precise Storage Bus and ME Tag Storage Bus, are made at a normal crafting table from an AE2 bus and an AE2 processor.[14]

The Concurrent Processor and the pack's own recipe
The Concurrent Processor is commonly used in the mod's multi-thread machines. It uses AE2's Printed Silicon, and you can make it in either the Crystal Assembler or an AE2 Inscriber.[14][45]
The pack adds its own way to get the Printed Concurrent Circuit: you inscribe an Entro Crystal together with the Universal Press.[14]
Inscriber (ae2)
Recipe id: kubejs:inscriber/universal_press/concurrent_processor_print
Added by the pack.
You can make Entro Crystal from AE2's Fluix Crystal and Entro Dust in a transform recipe. The Inscriber Concurrent Press is built from the AE2 Inscriber Silicon Press, a vanilla Ender Eye and an entro gem.[14]
Transform (ae2)

The Circuit Slicer ties into AE2 too. Its recipe uses the AE2 inscriber presses, and it slices material blocks into processor prints directly, which makes it about 9x faster than an inscriber most of the time.[5][14]
Infinity cells
The Infinity Water Cell is crafted from an AE2 16k ME Storage Component, with vanilla items and a diamond. The Infinity Cobblestone Cell follows the same idea and adds a lava bucket as well.[14]

Recipe id: productivebees:ae2/transform/entro_bee
ME Canner and other add-ons
The ME Canner only fills fluids by default. The mod's guide says other things need a matching add-on: Applied Flux for energy, Applied Mekanistics for Mekanism gas, and Applied Botanics Addon for Botania mana.[6]
Unverified I could not confirm from the pack data that Applied Flux, Applied Mekanistics or Applied Botanics Addon are installed in this pack, so check in-game before planning around gas, mana or energy canning.
Which Extended AE config options matter?
3 parts
All of Extended AE's settings live in one file, config/extendedae-common.toml. Here are the options you're most likely to care about, with the exact values this pack uses.[18]
Device speed and size
- device.extended_io_bus_multiplier is 8 in this pack, and the allowed range is 2 to 128. It's the speed multiplier for the ME Extended Import and Export Bus, which matches the x8 faster buses the mod advertises.[1][18]
- device.oversize_interface_multiplier is 16 here, with a range of 2 to 4096. It sets the size multiplier of the oversize interface.[18]
- device.wireless_connector_max_range is 1,000, with a range of 10.0 to 10,000.0. It's the maximum range between two wireless connectors. The sources don't say what unit the range is in.[18]
- device.enable_crystal_assembler_inscribe_processors is true, so the Crystal Assembler is allowed to do processor inscriber recipes.[18]
Items
- item.infinity_cell_energy_cost is 8 AE/t, with a range of 0.1 to 64.0. That's the idle energy cost of an ME Infinity Cell, so keep it in mind when you plan your power.[18]
- item.pattern_modifier_multipliers is set to 2, 3, 5 and 7. These are the multipliers the pattern modifier uses.[18]
- item.me_packing_tape_whitelist decides which AE devices and parts the ME Packing Tape can pack. In this pack that's the Extended AE extended interface, pattern provider and drive, plus their part versions for the interface and pattern provider. It also covers the base AE2 interface, pattern provider, drive and the cable interface and pattern provider parts.[18]
Client-side
client.disable_inscriber_item_render is false, so the Extended Inscriber shows its item render. Set it to true if you want to turn that off. It only works on the client side.[18]
Unverified The sources only show the values this pack uses, not the mod's defaults. So it's unverified which of these options the pack changed from the default.
What changed in Extended AE between versions?
1 part
All the Mods 10 0.51 ships Extended AE 1.21-2.0.3-neoforge. The mod has been in the pack since 0.32 or earlier, so it isn't a recent addition.[3]
Mod changelog highlights
- 1.21-2.0.1-neoforge was the first Extended AE release for Minecraft 1.21.1.[46]
- 1.21-2.0.1-neoforge also fixed a crash that happened when you broke an Assembler Matrix structure.[46]
Unverified The changelog entries for versions 2.0.2 and 2.0.3 (the version in this pack) were not available, so what changed between 2.0.1 and 2.0.3 is unconfirmed. The pack changelogs also have no entries for this mod.
