What is CC: Tweaked?
2 parts
CC: Tweaked adds programmable computers, turtles and more to Minecraft. It's a fork of the much-loved ComputerCraft, and it focuses on improved performance and stability plus a lot of new features. If you've ever wanted to automate your world with real code, this is the mod for it.[1]
Computers are programmed in the Lua language, and they give you everything you need to start writing code and automating things. They can't move, though. That's where turtles come in: they travel around the world, place and break blocks, and can even swing a sword to protect you from zombies, depending on what you program them to do.[1]
Peripherals extend your computers. Speakers let you play a tune, monitors display text or images, and modems connect all your computers together. Computers can also interact with inventories such as chests, so you can build complex inventory and item management systems.[1]
Who it's for
The mod works for experienced programmers and for people who have never coded before, although getting started can feel a little daunting. The project recommends a few tutorial series: Direwolf20's ComputerCraft tutorials, Sethbling's turtle series and Lyqyd's Computer Basics. Once you're comfortable, the mod's online wiki documents the APIs and peripherals in more detail.[1]
In this pack
The pack's mod list shows CC: Tweaked, and it was first included in an earlier release, version 2.25 or before. The list has two entries for this version of the pack: 1.113.1 and 1.120.2.[2]
Unverified The mod list shows two CC: Tweaked versions, so it's unclear which one is actually active. The sources also don't show where the mod fits in the pack's progression, or whether it appears on the ATM Star path or in any quests. Treat it as an optional automation toy rather than something the pack asks you to use.
How do you get started with CC: Tweaked?
6 parts
CC: Tweaked adds programmable computers, turtles and more. You control them with the Lua programming language, so this section covers which items to build first and why. Every recipe below is the exact in-pack one.[1]
Your first Computer
Start with the Computer. It's the heart of the mod: the Lua-controlled machine where you write code to automate your world.[1]
If you want the Advanced Computer, this pack has a recipe that upgrades a normal Computer using gold.[3]

Add a Monitor
Next, make a Monitor. Computers can display text or images on a monitor, which is handy once your programs have something to show.[1][3]
Storage with a Disk Drive and Floppy Disks
The Disk Drive is the block you pair with Floppy Disk items. Floppy disks have their own disk space limit, set separately from the one for computers and turtles.[3][4]
This is one of the Floppy Disk recipes. The pack has a variant for each of the 16 dye colours.
Connect things with modems
Modems connect your computers together. The Wireless Modem is the wireless option.[1][3]
For a wired setup, the Wired Modem goes with the Networking Cable. There is also the Ender Modem, which is named Ender Modem in this pack.[3]

Get moving with a Turtle
A computer can't move around, and turtles solve that. They can move about the world, place and break blocks, and even swing a sword to protect you. The pack has two routes to the Advanced Turtle: a recipe built around an Advanced Computer, and an upgrade of a normal Turtle.[1][3]

How does CC: Tweaked work?
9 parts
CC: Tweaked is built around programmable computers you control with the Lua language. Turtles are the mobile version: they can move around the world, place and break blocks, and fight for you. On top of that you get peripherals like speakers, monitors and modems to connect everything together. Computers can also interact with inventories such as chests, so you can build item management systems. Below is how those systems behave in this pack, based on its config files.[1]
Computers and storage
The basic Computer is the starting point, and the Advanced Computer is the upgraded version. If you'd rather carry your code around, the Pocket Computer and Advanced Pocket Computer are the portable versions.[3]

Upgrade an existing Computer instead of crafting an Advanced one from scratch.
Each computer or turtle gets 1,000,000 bytes of disk space, set by computer_space_limit. A Floppy Disk is much smaller at 125,000 bytes, set by floppy_space_limit. A computer can have 128 files open at once (maximum_open_files); setting that option to 0 removes the cap.[3][5]
Floppy disks live in a Disk Drive. The pack has a disk recipe for each dye colour, so you can colour-code your disks.[3]
One of the dye-colour variants of the Floppy Disk recipe.
Networking: modems and cables
To connect machines, the pack offers the Wired Modem plus the Networking Cable for wired setups, and the Wireless Modem and Ender Modem (the Ender Modem) for wireless ones. There is also a full-block wired modem variant, Wired Modem. Two shapeless recipes convert between the two wired forms, so you can switch back and forth.[3]

Wireless range depends on altitude and weather. At low altitude in clear weather the range is 64 meters (peripheral.modem_range). At maximum altitude in clear weather it is 384 meters (peripheral.modem_high_altitude_range). The pack sets the stormy-weather values to the same numbers, 64 and 384, via peripheral.modem_range_during_storm and peripheral.modem_high_altitude_range_during_storm, so storms don't shorten your range here. All of these match the mod's defaults.[5]
Talking to inventories and other mods' blocks
When a block has no dedicated peripheral provider, the mod can still give it generic methods. These include inventory methods such as moving items, and, depending on the platform, fluid and energy storage methods. That is how computers can handle chests and other storage. The pack leaves disabled_generic_methods empty, so none of these are switched off. Admins can list a whole group or a single method there if they want to restrict something.[4][5]
Monitors and speakers
The Monitor and Advanced Monitor display text or images from your computers. On the client side, monitors render out to 64 blocks by default (monitor_distance, which can range from 16 to 1,024). The renderer is set to BEST (monitor_renderer). Only try TBO or VBO if big monitors hurt your performance.[1][3][6]
On the server side, monitor updates share a budget of 1,000,000 bytes per tick (peripheral.monitor_bandwidth). A full-sized monitor sends roughly 25 kB, so that budget covers about 40 monitors updating in a single tick. Setting it to 0 disables the limit.[5]
The Speaker lets you play tunes, and it can play at most 8 notes at once (peripheral.max_notes_per_tick).[1][3][5]
Turtles
Advanced Turtles have a fuel limit of 100,000 (turtle.advanced_fuel_limit). Turtles also push entities out of the way instead of stopping, as long as there is space to do so (turtle.can_push is true).[5]
Command computers
The Command Computer is locked down in this pack. Players must be in creative mode and opped to interact with it (command_require_creative), matching vanilla Command blocks. Command Block peripheral support is also off (peripheral.command_block_enabled is false).[3][5]

HTTP access
The HTTP API is on, and so are websockets (http.enabled, http.websocket_enabled). Turning HTTP off would also disable the pastebin and wget programs. Each computer can run 16 requests at a time (http.max_requests), and extra requests are queued. Each computer can also hold 4 websockets open (http.max_websockets). Download and upload bandwidth is shared across all computers: http.bandwidth.global_download and http.bandwidth.global_upload are each set to 33,554,432 bytes per second.[5]
Performance and admin tools
The pack runs computers on 1 thread (execution.computer_threads). Raising it lets more computers run at once but may cause lag, and some mods may not work with more than one thread. The ideal per-computer time per tick is 5 ms (execution.max_main_computer_time), and the total budget for all tasks in a tick is 10 ms (execution.max_main_global_time). The tooltips note these are targets that can be exceeded. All of these match the mod defaults.[5]
If a computer is causing trouble, the /computercraft command is your toolbox. It can dump the status of computers, shut down or turn on computers, and teleport you to one. It can also open a computer's terminal remotely, though that does not give access to a turtle's inventory. The track subcommands measure how long computers execute and how many events they handle, which helps when diagnosing lag. You can target a computer by instance id, computer id or label.[4]
Other peripherals
The pack also has the Printer and the Redstone Relay. The sources I have don't explain how they behave, so here are just their recipes.[3]

How do you progress through CC: Tweaked?
5 parts
In this pack, CC: Tweaked progression is a ladder of upgrades built from crafting recipes. You can start with a basic Computer and climb from there. Every recipe block below is the exact in-pack recipe.[3]
Unverified The sources here do not show any quests for this mod, so the pack's quest book order for it is unverified. The tiers below follow the crafting recipes instead.
Tier 1: Basic computing
Everything starts with the Computer. Around it you build the basic support gear: a Monitor for output, a Disk Drive with a Floppy Disk for storage, and a Wired Modem with Networking Cable to link peripherals.[3]

How does CC: Tweaked work with other mods?
3 parts
CC: Tweaked doesn't live in a bubble in this pack. A handful of recipes from other mods use its parts, so your computer setup can plug into other tech. Here's what the recipes show.[3]
Advanced Peripherals
Most of the connections come from Advanced Peripherals. These items are crafted from CC: Tweaked parts, and the pack leaves their recipes as the mod made them.[3]
- Block Reader and Geo Scanner both use a Wired Modem in their recipes.[3]
- Overlay Module is crafted with an Advanced Monitor.[3]
- Smart Glasses are crafted with an Advanced Pocket Computer.[3]
- Smart Rail is crafted with a Wired Modem.[3]

Which CC: Tweaked config options matter?
6 parts
CC: Tweaked has a client config and a server config, and this pack ships both. Every option below is shown with the value this pack uses. Where the pack file lists the mod's default and it matches, I say so. In every case where a default is listed, the pack leaves it untouched.[5][6]
Turtles
- turtle.need_fuel is true, so turtles need fuel to move.[5]
- turtle.normal_fuel_limit is 20,000 and turtle.advanced_fuel_limit is 100,000. Both match the mod defaults.[5]
- turtle.can_push is true, so turtles push entities out of the way instead of stopping when there is space to do so.[5]
Wireless modem range
peripheral.modem_range is 64 meters at low altitude, and peripheral.modem_range_during_storm is also 64. At maximum altitude, peripheral.modem_high_altitude_range and peripheral.modem_high_altitude_range_during_storm are both 384. These match the mod defaults, so storms don't shorten your range in this pack.[5]
HTTP
http.enabled and http.websocket_enabled are both true, so the http API and websockets work. The config notes that turning http off would also disable the pastebin and wget programs.[5]
http.rules denies the $private host group, then allows every other host without a proxy, with a max upload of 4,194,304, a max download of 16,777,216 and a max websocket message of 131,072. A computer can make http.max_requests = 16 requests at once and keep http.max_websockets = 4 websockets open. Both of those match the mod defaults.[5]
Storage and files
- computer_space_limit is 1,000,000 bytes for computers and turtles.[5]
- floppy_space_limit is 125,000 bytes for floppy disks.[5]
- maximum_open_files is 128 and upload_max_size is 524,288 bytes. Both match the mod defaults.[5]
Command computers and screens
- command_require_creative is true, so you need to be in creative mode and opped to interact with command computers.[5]
- peripheral.command_block_enabled is false, so Command Block peripheral support is off.[5]
- Terminal sizes are the mod defaults: computers are 51 by 19, pocket computers are 26 by 20 and monitors are 8 by 6 (width by height).[5]
Performance
execution.computer_threads is 1, the mod default. The config warns that some mods may not work with a thread count higher than 1. execution.max_main_computer_time is 5 ms and execution.max_main_global_time is 10 ms, also the defaults.[5]
On the client, monitor_distance is 64 and upload_nag_delay is 5 seconds, both the mod defaults. monitor_renderer is set to BEST. The config says to keep it there unless monitors cause performance problems.[6]
What changed in CC: Tweaked between versions?
1 part
CC: Tweaked has been in the pack since All the Mods 10 2.25 or earlier, and it has been updated many times since. The pack changelogs only record version bumps, so this section is a timeline of which version shipped when.[2][7]
Pack release timeline
- 2.37: updated from 1.113.1 to 1.115.0.[7]
- 2.39: updated from 1.115.0 to 1.115.1.[8]
- 4.3: updated from 1.115.1 to 1.116.0.[9]
- 4.6: changed from 1.116.0 back to 1.113.1. This was a downgrade, and the changelog gives no reason.[10]
- 5.3: updated from 1.113.1 to 1.116.2.[11]
- 6.2: updated from 1.116.2 to 1.117.1.[12]
- 6.3: the changelog lists CC: Tweaked 1.117.1 as added, even though 6.2 already moved the mod to that version.[12][13]
- 7.1: updated from 1.117.1 to 1.120.0.[14]
- 8.1: updated from 1.120.0 to 1.120.2, the current version in this guide.[15]
Unverified The 8.1 mod list shows two CC: Tweaked jars, 1.113.1 and 1.120.2, but the changelog says 8.1 updated the mod to 1.120.2. We can't confirm why 1.113.1 is also listed. Stored changelogs for the shipped jars aren't available either, so what changed inside the mod between these versions is unverified.
