What is Silent Gear Metalworks?
2 parts
Silent Gear Metalworks is the mod that gives you a whole set of casts for gear, plus Uru Metal Blocks. This pack includes version 1.21.1-1.5.0. If you're building Silent Gear tools, weapons, armor or curios, the casts are where you'll spend most of your time with it.[1][2]
What you get
The pack's Silent Gear quest chapter has a quest for each cast, all placed after a Casts quest. They cover tools like the Pickaxe Cast, Axe Cast and Shovel Cast, and weapons like the Sword Cast, Katana Cast, Bow Cast and Trident Cast. They also cover armor pieces such as the Helmet Cast, plus jewelry like the Ring Cast and Necklace Cast.[2]
The quest text also helps you pick between weapons. The sword is described as having reliable damage and speed, the katana hits harder but slower, and the dagger has very high attack speed with low damage. The Tip Cast makes the Tip Upgrade, which raises a tool's mining level. The quest's example is a Diamond Tip that lets an Iron Pickaxe mine Obsidian.[2]
Some casts are for bigger tools. The Hammer Cast is flagged for 3x3 mining and the Excavator Cast for 3x3 digging.[2]
Where it fits in progression
The Uru Metal Block is the mod's endgame piece. It's one of the three block types required by the ATM Star quest "The Star's Casing" quest. The quest describes Uru Metal as an alloy made with Tinker's Construct Productive Metalworks, so you'll be working in the Foundry for it.[3]
The mod also turns up in the Legendaries chapter. A Ring Cast is one of the altar items for the Meltan quest "Meltan" quest, and an Uru Metal Block is one of the build items for Magearna in "Magearna" quest.[4]
Unverified Beyond the casts and the Uru Metal Block, this guide has no confirmed details on the mod's other features, such as how casts are obtained or crafted in this pack.
How do you get started with Silent Gear Metalworks?
2 parts
Silent Gear Metalworks changes how you get Silent Gear tool parts in this pack. The tooltip says all metal and gem tool parts require casting in a foundry from Productive Metalworks. So your first job is to make the casts, which act as the molds for those parts.[5]
Every cast in this pack uses the same style of recipe. You combine the matching Silent Gear part with any molten steel, and the pack has changed all of these recipes. The Silent Gear chapter of the quest book has one quest per cast, and each one comes after the Casts quest.[2][6]
What to make first, in order
- Start with the Tool Rod Cast. Its quest is titled "Your own Handle!", so this is the cast for the tool rod. a quest in "Silent Gear"[2][6]
- Next, pick the head for the tool you want most. The Pickaxe Cast quest is called "Pick one!". a quest in "Silent Gear"[2][6]
- Then add the Sword Cast, which the quest book describes as the basic sword with reliable damage and reliable speed. a quest in "Silent Gear"[2][6]
- Round out the basics with the Axe Cast and the Shovel Cast.[2][6]
- Make the Tip Cast when you want to raise a tool's mining level. a quest in "Silent Gear"[2][6]
Here are the in-pack recipes for those casts.[6]

Tip Upgrade
- 360× any molten steel
Recipe id: sgearmetalworks:casting/tip_cast
The tip upgrade is worth a closer look. The quest book's example is an iron pickaxe: with 1 diamond you can make a Diamond Tip Upgrade and place it on the pickaxe. That lets it mine obsidian and gives it a stat boost.[2]
Uru Metal comes later
This mod also adds Uru Metal Ingot and Uru Metal Block. Don't aim for these early. The pack's own quest book treats the block as an endgame ingredient, since The Star's Casing quest needs it for the ATM Star. Molten Uru Metal is made in a pack-changed alloying recipe, shown below.[3][6]
Fluid Alloying (productivemetalworks)
90× Molten Allthemodium
90× Molten Unobtainium
90× Molten Vibranium
- 180× any meat
- 180× any molten heavy core
- 90× any molten tyrian steel
Recipe id: productivemetalworks:alloying/atm/molten_uru_metal
Unverified The sources don't say how to obtain molten steel, how to set up the foundry, or how to craft the Silent Gear parts that the casts are made from. Check the Productive Metalworks and Silent Gear sections of this guide, or the in-game recipe viewer, for those steps. This site does hold All the Mons's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.
How does Silent Gear Metalworks work?
6 parts
The sources show no machines of Silent Gear Metalworks' own. The mod adds molten fluids, buckets of those fluids and cast items for Silent Gear parts, and the processing happens in Productive Metalworks. The mod's own tooltip says all metal and gem tool parts require casting in a foundry from Productive Metalworks.[5]
Melting
The mod has molten fluids for metals like Molten Azure Silver and Molten Blaze Gold, plus a long list of gems. Melting recipes turn items into these fluids. In the pack there are 96 melting recipes that end in a fluid from this mod, covering 28 different results.[5][6]
Dusts of azure silver, azure electrum and blaze gold each melt into 90 of their molten fluid. Productive Bees combs can be melted too: an Uru metal comb gives 10 Molten Uru Metal and a comb block gives 40.[6]
Alloying
Some fluids are alloys made from other molten fluids. The pack changed these recipes: Molten Azure Electrum, Molten Blaze Gold and Molten Uru Metal are all alloyed. Uru metal is the demanding one, so check the recipe below for the exact mix.[6]
Fluid Alloying (productivemetalworks)
90× Molten Allthemodium
90× Molten Unobtainium
90× Molten Vibranium
- 180× any meat

Casting basics
Molten Uru metal follows a fixed scale in this pack. An ingot costs 90 of the fluid, a nugget costs 10 and a storage block costs 810. Ingots and blocks also convert back and forth in the crafting grid, with 9 ingots making a block.[6]
Item Casting (productivemetalworks)

Block Casting (productivemetalworks)
- 810× any molten uru metal

Casting Silent Gear parts
This is where the mod gets interesting. In the pack's Uru metal part recipes, the item you put in is a Silent Gear part made from silent unobtainium plates. That part is consumed, and you get the same kind of part made from Uru metal ingots instead.[7][8]
The fluid cost grows with how many material items the part is made of, in steps of 90 molten Uru metal each. An arrow head costs 90, fishing reel and hook costs 180, axe head costs 270, boot plates cost 360 and chestplate plates cost 720. Bow limbs, crossbow limbs and bracelet bands each cost 270.[7][8][9][10][11][12][13][14]
Item Casting (productivemetalworks)
Silent Unobtainium Plate
- 270× any molten uru metal
Recipe id: sgearmetalworks:casting/uru/axe_head
The axe head costs 270 of molten Uru metal.
Cast items
The mod also adds cast items such as Arrow Cast, Axe Cast and Boots Cast. In the pack these are made by casting the matching Silent Gear part with 360 of molten steel.[5][6]
Item Casting (productivemetalworks)
Arrow Heads
- 360× any molten steel
Recipe id: sgearmetalworks:casting/arrow_cast
Uru Metal Bee
The Uru Metal Bee spawn egg is also made by casting. A spirited crystal bee spawn egg is consumed along with 810 molten Uru metal and becomes an Uru metal bee spawn egg. The recipe only applies when both bees exist in the pack.[5][15]
How do you progress through Silent Gear Metalworks?
4 parts
The sources don't give this mod numbered tiers. What they do show is a progression: casts first, then a chain of Foundry alloys, then Uru Metal, which the biggest quests ask for. Here's how that path looks.[2][3][6]
Stage 1: Casts
Every cast quest in the Silent Gear chapter comes after the Casts quest, and each one asks you to hold a single cast item.[2]
In the pack, every cast is made by item casting from the matching Silent Gear part and molten steel, and the pack has changed all of these recipes. The Sword Cast is a good example, and the other casts follow the same pattern.[6]
Item Casting (productivemetalworks)
Sword Blade
- 360× any molten steel
Recipe id: sgearmetalworks:casting/sword_cast
The pack changed this recipe, and the other casts follow the same pattern.
The quest descriptions give you a feel for the tools. a quest in "Silent Gear" is the basic sword with reliable damage and speed, and the katana quest says the Katana hits harder than a sword but swings slower. The Tip Cast quest a quest in "Silent Gear" covers the tip upgrade, which raises a tool's mining level. Its example is a Diamond tip that lets an Iron Pickaxe mine Obsidian.[2]
Stage 2: Foundry alloys
After casts, the path moves into alloying in the Foundry. You can melt ingots or dusts of the mod's metals into fluid, for example Molten Crimson Iron and Molten Azure Silver. Many gems also melt into their own molten fluids, such as Molten Ruby and Molten Sapphire.[6]
The chain toward Uru Metal runs through intermediate alloys, which then feed into Tyrian Steel. First comes Molten Crimson Steel.[6]
Fluid Alloying (productivemetalworks)
- 200× any molten blaze
- 810× any molten crimson iron
- 100× any molten magma cream
Recipe id: productivemetalworks:alloying/molten_crimson_steel
The pack changed this alloying recipe.
The second is Molten Azure Electrum.[6]
Fluid Alloying (productivemetalworks)
- 360× any molten azure silver
- 100× any molten ender
- 180× any molten gold
Recipe id: productivemetalworks:alloying/molten_azure_electrum
The pack changed this alloying recipe.
Both go into Molten Tyrian Steel.[6]
Fluid Alloying (productivemetalworks)
- 100× any molten ancient debri
- 90× any molten azure electrum
- 90× any molten crimson steel
- 100× any molten shulker shell
Recipe id: productivemetalworks:alloying/molten_tyrian_steel
Tyrian Steel uses both of the alloys above, and the pack changed this recipe.
There's also a side alloy, Molten Blaze Gold. The sources don't connect it to the Uru Metal path.[6]
Stage 3: Uru Metal
Uru Metal is the top of the chain. In this pack, Molten Uru Metal is alloyed from the Allthemodium family metals plus meat, molten heavy core and molten Tyrian Steel.[6]
Fluid Alloying (productivemetalworks)
90× Molten Allthemodium
90× Molten Unobtainium
90× Molten Vibranium
- 180× any meat
- 180× any molten heavy core
- 90× any molten tyrian steel
Recipe id: productivemetalworks:alloying/atm/molten_uru_metal
This alloying recipe is changed by the pack.
The quest text adds practical tips. Allthemodium, Vibranium and Unobtainium are all mined. Heavy Cores are found in Trial Chambers, and you make meat by dropping a mob (or yourself) into the Foundry. You'll also need Soul Lava as fuel to melt everything down together.[3]
Once you have the molten metal, you can cast it into an Uru Metal Ingot, a Uru Metal Nugget or a Uru Metal Block. The pack has changed these casting recipes, shown below. Crafting also converts between the ingot, nugget and block forms.[6]

What Uru Metal unlocks
"The Star's Casing" quest in The ATM Star chapter lists the Uru Metal Block as one of the star's casing blocks, alongside the Unobtainium - Allthemodium Alloy Blocks and the Compressed Nether Star Blocks 2X. That quest's text says the Nether Star blocks alone add up to 10,935 Nether Stars, so plan your resources early.[3]
The Legendaries chapter also uses this mod. "Magearna" quest lists an Uru Metal Block among its items, and "Meltan" quest asks for a Ring Cast.[4]
How does Silent Gear Metalworks work with other mods?
4 parts
Silent Gear Metalworks connects Silent Gear parts to Productive Metalworks casting in this pack. Its Uru Metal also feeds into the ATM Star and into two Cobblemon rituals. Everything below comes from in-pack recipes and quests that use items from more than one mod.[3][4][6]
Silent Gear parts and Productive Metalworks casting
Every cast starts with a Silent Gear part. A Productive Metalworks item casting recipe combines the part with any molten steel to give you the matching cast. For the sword, a Sword Blade plus molten steel makes a Sword Cast. The same pattern covers the axe, pickaxe, bow, armor pieces, rings, necklaces and more. The recipe dump marks these recipes as changed by the pack.[6]
Item Casting (productivemetalworks)
Sword Blade
- 360× any molten steel
Recipe id: sgearmetalworks:casting/sword_cast
A Silent Gear part plus molten steel gives the cast, and the pack changed this recipe.
Going the other way, a Silent Gear Metalworks gear casting recipe turns a cast into the Silent Gear part again. The pack changes these recipes too.[6]
Sg Gear Casting (sgearmetalworks)
Recipe id: sgearmetalworks:casting/silentgear/sword_blade
The cast gives the Silent Gear part, and the pack changed this recipe.
The Silent Gear quest chapter has one quest per cast, all coming after the Casts quest. For example, the quest a quest in "Silent Gear" for the Tip Cast explains that the Tip Upgrade raises a tool's mining level.[2]
Uru Metal and the Allthemodium metals
Uru Metal is made by Productive Metalworks fluid alloying, and the recipe is changed by the pack. It combines Molten Allthemodium, Molten Unobtainium and Molten Vibranium with any meat, any molten heavy core and any molten tyrian steel to make Molten Uru Metal.[6]
Fluid Alloying (productivemetalworks)
90× Molten Allthemodium
90× Molten Unobtainium
90× Molten Vibranium
- 180× any meat
- 180× any molten heavy core
- 90× any molten tyrian steel
Recipe id: productivemetalworks:alloying/atm/molten_uru_metal
You can then cast any molten Uru Metal into an Uru Metal Ingot with Productive Metalworks' Ingot Cast, or into an Uru Metal Nugget with the Nugget Cast. Both recipes are changed by the pack.[6]
The pack also has casting recipes that take a Silent Unobtainium Plate and molten Uru Metal. Each gives an Uru Metal Ingot plus a Silent Gear part, such as the Axe Head or the Hammer Head. These are changed by the pack as well.[6]
The ATM Star
The Uru Metal Block is one of the ingredients of the ATM Star. It goes in alongside the Block of Unobtainium - Allthemodium Alloy, the Nether Star Block 2x, a Cobblemon Master Ball and Creative Essence. The pack adds this recipe using Create mechanical crafting.[6]
Mechanical Crafting (create)
Recipe id: allthetweaks:allthetweaks/atm_star
The quest "The Star's Casing" quest covers the block ingredients. It says Uru Metal Blocks are alloys made with Productive Metalworks from Heavy Core, Meat, Tyrian Steel, Allthemodium, Vibranium and Unobtainium. Heavy Cores are found in Trial Chambers, and meat comes from dropping a mob into the Foundry. It also tells you to use Soul Lava as Foundry fuel.[3]
Cobblemon rituals
The Ring Cast is an ingredient in the pack's Summoning Rituals altar recipe for Meltan. It goes with Salamander's Eye, Black Laser Lens and Red Network Cable. The quest "Meltan" quest says to run the ritual beside a working foundry filled with molten gold and steel.[4][6]
The Magearna quest, "Magearna" quest, also lists an Uru Metal Block among its task items, next to silver blocks, a gold block, a Soul-Heart Mechanism, a Mark of Technomancy and an Enchanted Soul.[4]
Which All the Mons quests use Silent Gear Metalworks?
3 parts
This mod shows up in three quest chapters: a big Silent Gear chapter that is all about casts, the Legendaries chapter, and the ATM Star chapter. Here is what each one asks for, and in what order.[2][3][4]
The Silent Gear chapter
Every quest in this chapter asks for one cast item from the mod, and every one of them comes after a quest called Casts. They all share that same prerequisite, and the sources don't show any ordering between them.[2]
- Tools: a quest in "Silent Gear" (a Pickaxe Cast), a quest in "Silent Gear" (an Axe Cast), a quest in "Silent Gear" (a Shovel Cast) and a quest in "Silent Gear" (a Paxel Cast, described as pickaxe, axe and shovel in one).[2]
- Big-area and utility tools: a quest in "Silent Gear" is the Hammer Cast for 3x3 mining. a quest in "Silent Gear" is the Excavator Cast for 3x3 digging. a quest in "Silent Gear" is the Mattock Cast. a quest in "Silent Gear" is the Prospector Hammer Cast. a quest in "Silent Gear" is the Sickle Cast. a quest in "Silent Gear" is the Shears Cast. a quest in "Silent Gear" is the Fishing Rod Cast.[2]
- Handle and upgrade: a quest in "Silent Gear" asks for the Tool Rod Cast. a quest in "Silent Gear" asks for the Tip Cast. Its quest text explains that the Tip Upgrade raises a tool's mining level. For example, an Iron Pickaxe with a Diamond Tip Upgrade can mine Obsidian and also gets a stat boost.[2]
- Melee, part one: a quest in "Silent Gear" is the Sword Cast, the basic sword with reliable damage and speed. a quest in "Silent Gear" is the Dagger Cast, with low damage, very high attack speed and a shorter invincibility time on the target. a quest in "Silent Gear" is the Knife Cast, with higher durability than a dagger but lower damage and speed.[2]
- Melee, part two: a quest in "Silent Gear" is the Katana Cast, with more damage than a sword but slower. a quest in "Silent Gear" is the Machete Cast, slightly faster than a sword but with lower damage. a quest in "Silent Gear" is the Spear Cast, with less damage than a sword but longer reach. a quest in "Silent Gear" is the Trident Cast.[2]
- Ranged and defence: a quest in "Silent Gear" is the Bow Cast. a quest in "Silent Gear" is the Crossbow Cast. a quest in "Silent Gear" is the Slingshot Cast. a quest in "Silent Gear" is the Arrow Cast. a quest in "Silent Gear" is the Shield Cast.[2]
- Armor: a quest in "Silent Gear" is the Helmet Cast, a quest in "Silent Gear" is the Chestplate Cast, a quest in "Silent Gear" is the Leggings Cast and a quest in "Silent Gear" is the Boots Cast.[2]
- Accessories: a quest in "Silent Gear" is the Necklace Cast, a quest in "Silent Gear" is the Ring Cast and a quest in "Silent Gear" is the Bracelet Cast.[2]
The Legendaries chapter
Meltan and Magearna in this chapter both use parts of this mod. Their quest text says these legendaries are built rather than found in the wild, and each one comes after a quest called The Summoning Altar.[4]
"Meltan" quest needs a Ring Cast together with a Salamander Eye, a Black Laser Lens and a Red Network Cable, plus a final custom task. Its quest text has you put those on the altar and run the ritual beside a working foundry filled with molten gold and steel.[4]
"Magearna" quest needs an Uru Metal Block among its items, along with a Mark of Technomancy, an Enchanted Soul, a Soul-Heart Mechanism, Silver Blocks and a Gold Block, plus a custom task. It comes after The Summoning Altar and the Volcanion quest. Its quest text says to charge the Soul-Heart Mechanism by defeating 50 Pokémon within 10 blocks of it, then build the body on a Summoning Ritual Altar with one of your own Volcanion present.[4]
The ATM Star chapter
"The Star's Casing" quest (The Star's Casing) asks for three kinds of block: an Unobtainium - Allthemodium Alloy Block, a Compressed Nether Star Block 2X and an Uru Metal Block. The quest text says the Compressed Nether Star Blocks add up to 10,935 Nether Stars. It describes the Uru Metal Block as an alloy made with Tinker's Construct Productive Metalworks, and says you need Soul Lava as fuel for the Foundry to melt everything together.[3]
