What is AdvancedAE?
3 parts
AdvancedAE is an addon for Applied Energistics 2 that makes your ME System easier to live with. If you already run an ME network and want less piping, more crafting power and some handy gadgets, this is the mod for you. The pack includes version 1.6.9 for Minecraft 1.21.1.[1][2][3]
What it adds
- Advanced Pattern Providers: with an Advanced Pattern Encoder you choose which face of the target machine each input goes into. One block replaces multiple pipes, which is great for picky machines.[1][4][5]
- Quantum Computer: a multiblock crafting unit that can run an unlimited number of crafting tasks as long as it has storage left. All tasks share the co-processors, and the whole multiblock uses a single channel.[1][3]
- Quantum Crafter: a powerful auto crafter that can do many crafts per tick and pull straight from the ME System's inventory.[1]
- Quantum Armor: an armor set that links to your ME System and takes upgrade cards, including flight, night vision and a magnet.[1][6]
- Utilities: the Reaction Chamber, the Stock Export Bus and the ME Throughput Monitor.[1]
Quantum Computer basics
A Quantum Core works on its own as a crafting unit with 256M storage and 8 co-processors. Build a multiblock around it, up to 5x5x5, to scale that up. The Quantum Data Entangler multiplies storage by 4, and the Quantum Multi-Threader multiplies co-processors by 4.[1]
Where it fits in the pack
AdvancedAE shows up on the ATM Star path. The quest "Quantum Computer Multi-Threader" quest asks you to make the Quantum Computer Multi-Threader, and it unlocks after the Applied Energistics quest. The quest text warns that you will need a Crystal Assembler and a whole bunch of Singularities.[7]
The armor has its own quest, "Quantum Armor (AE2)" quest, in the Basic Armor chapter. It asks for the Quantum Helmet, Quantum Chestplate, Quantum Leggings and Quantum Boots. By default the set has stats similar to Netherite armor and can use energy as a shield. Upgrades are what make it really strong.[6][8]
How do you get started with AdvancedAE?
4 parts
AdvancedAE is an add-on for your ME system. It focuses on quality of life and end-game crafting, with pattern providers that push items to specific sides, a multiblock crafting computer, an auto-crafter and a linkable armor set. Here's the order I'd tackle things in this pack.[1][3]
Advanced Pattern Encoder and Provider
Start with the Advanced Pattern Encoder. It lets you choose which block face each ingredient of a processing pattern gets sent to. That way you can automate machines that need specific inputs on specific sides, with no pipes. The pack changed its recipe, so go by this one.[4][5][9]

Those patterns only work as intended in the Advanced Extended Pattern Provider. This is the extended version, and it holds up to 36 patterns. The pack changed this recipe too.[4][5][9]

Recipe id: advanced_ae:eaeadvpatpro
If you already have providers built, the Advanced Pattern Provider Upgrade items convert regular or ExtendedAE providers and keep their slot count, so you don't have to move your patterns. The capacity upgrade turns a regular provider straight into an advanced one with 36 pattern slots.[10]
The Quantum Computer
Next, build a crafting computer. The Quantum Computer Core works as a standalone computer with 256M of crafting storage and 8 co-processor threads. It runs an unlimited number of crafting requests as long as it has enough crafting storage. As a standalone it needs power on its Up or Down side, where the connectors are.[11]
Make the Quantum Crafting Unit and the Quantum Computer Accelerator first, since they feed into the core. The pack changed both recipes.[9]
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: advanced_ae:eaequantumaccel
The core also needs a Shattered Singularity, which is produced by chemical reaction in the Reaction Chamber, so that machine is on your path.[9][12]
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: advanced_ae:quantumcore
To grow it into a multiblock, add storage blocks like the 128M Quantum Computer Storage and more accelerators, each adding 8 co-processors. All crafts share every co-processor, so accelerators are worth investing in.[11]
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: advanced_ae:quantumstorage128
The Quantum Computer Multi-Threader multiplies your co-processors by 4, and only one fits in each multiblock. In this pack it's made in a Crystal Assembler. Its quest, "Quantum Computer Multi-Threader" quest, sits in the ATM Star chapter, after the Applied Energistics quest.[7][9][11]

Quantum Crafter
The Quantum Crafter is an auto-crafter with access to your whole ME inventory. You only need to connect it to your network with a cable, and it uses a single channel. Insert crafting patterns and configure each one with how much of each ingredient to keep in the system and a cap on the output. Setting the output limit to 0 removes the cap.[12][13]

The Quantum Crafter Terminal lets you manage all your crafters from one spot.[14]
Quantum Armor
When you're ready, the Quantum Armor has default stats similar to Netherite and can use energy as a shield. You link each piece to your system through a wireless access point. In this pack the quest for it is "Quantum Armor (AE2)" quest, in the Basic Armor chapter. The pack changed all four armor recipes.[6][8][9]

How does AdvancedAE work?
8 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 4.14 guide
Advanced AE is an addon for your ME system. It adds pattern providers that push items to specific sides of a machine, multiblock crafting computers whose crafts all share the same co-processors, and a pile of quality-of-life buses and tools. Here is how each system works in this pack.[15]
Quantum Computer
The quantum computer is a special crafting computer. It can run an unlimited number of crafting requests as long as it has crafting storage left, and every pattern it runs shares all of its co-processors. The whole multiblock uses a single channel.[1][16]
The Quantum Core is the heart of it. The mod's guide lists it at 256M of crafting storage and 8 co-processor threads on its own, and it is the only block that can form a quantum computer by itself. If you run it standalone, power has to come in through the Up or Down sides, where the connectors are.[16]
To grow it, you add storage blocks (128M or 256M each), Quantum Computer Accelerators for co-processors, and the two special multiplier blocks: the Data Entangler, which multiplies the storage of every storage block in the multiblock, and the Multi-Threader, which multiplies the accelerators' co-processing power. The Quantum Structure blocks form the frame and hold everything together.[16]
Pack values you should know
The mod's guide text quotes its own numbers, but this pack sets several of them through the common config. These are the values you will actually get:[16][17]
- Maximum multiblock size is 7 per side ([[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputerMaxSize]] = 7, allowed range 5 to 12).[16][17]
- Each Quantum Computer Accelerator provides 12 co-processing threads ([[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputerAcceleratorThreads]] = 12, range 4 to 16). The guide says 8.[16][17][18]
- The Multi-Threader multiplies co-processors by 6 ([[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputerMultiThreaderMultiplication]] = 6). The guide says 4. You can have 1 per multiblock ([[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputerMaxMultiThreaders]] = 1, range 1 to 2).[16][17]
- The Data Entangler multiplies storage by 6 ([[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputerDataEntanglerMultiplication]] = 6). The guide says 4. You can have 1 per multiblock ([[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputermaxDataEntanglers]] = 1, range 1 to 2).[16][17]
Building the multiblock
- The external dimensions can't exceed the maximum size, which is 7x7x7 in this pack.[16][17]
- No empty spaces are allowed inside. You can fill gaps, but the filler gives no extra benefit.[16]
- Every block on the outside layer must be a Quantum Structure block.[16][18]
- You can use at most one Data Entangler and at most one Multi-Threader.[16][17]
The pack changed the recipes for both the Quantum Crafting Unit and the Quantum Computer Accelerator. The Shattered Singularity used in the accelerator comes from a chemical reaction in the Reaction Chamber.[18][19]

Quantum Crafter
The Quantum Crafter is an auto-crafter that works straight from the ME system's inventory. It needs one channel and a cable connection. It can also run fluid substitution crafts and recursive crafts, where an input is also an output.[20]
- Encode the recipes you want run indefinitely as crafting patterns and put them in the crafter's pattern slots.[20]
- Use the square button under each pattern to enable or disable it. Disabled patterns are never crafted.[20]
- Click the cog to open the Pattern Configuration UI. There you set how much of each ingredient to keep inside the ME system at all times, and a maximum amount of the end product so you avoid over-crafting expensive items.[20]
- Type the number and press Enter to apply it. Math expressions work, and an indicator on the right shows whether the value was applied. An output limit of 0 removes the limit, so crafting continues until the inputs run out.[18][20]
By default, crafted items are pushed from the output slots into the ME system. Left-clicking the cell button on the left toolbar switches output to adjacent inventories instead, and a second button lets you choose which sides are allowed for auto-export.[18][20]
The crafter takes two kinds of upgrade cards. One kind greatly accelerates crafting, reaching 64 crafts of each pattern per tick, and the other gives you redstone control. The Quantum Crafter Terminal, and its wireless version, lets you manage all your crafters from one place.[20][21]
Directional pattern providers
The Advanced Extended Pattern Provider lets you choose which face of the target machine each individual ingredient in a pattern is pushed into. That means machines that need specific inputs on specific sides can be automated with one block and no pipes. The extended version holds up to 36 patterns.[22]
You set the faces with the Advanced Pattern Encoder. Right-click it to open the GUI, then put an encoded Processing Pattern in the left slot. Each raw ingredient is listed with a button for every possible face. Leaving it on "A" sends the item to whatever face is directly connected to the provider, while picking a face forces insertion there.[18][23]
Upgrade items convert providers without moving patterns. The Advanced Pattern Provider Upgrade works on regular pattern providers and ExtendedAE extended providers and keeps their current slot count. The Capacity Upgrade turns a regular provider directly into an advanced one with 36 pattern slots.[18][24]
The pack changed the recipes for the encoder and for the advanced extended provider. You can also switch the provider between its block and cable-part forms with a shapeless recipe.[19]

Buses
The ME Import Export Bus combines an import bus and an export bus. The filter sets the stacks to export, and anything not on the filter is valid to import.[25]
The ME Stock Export Bus exports an exact amount of each filtered stack. It tracks how much is already in the target inventory and doesn't insert above that number. Drag an item into the filter slot and middle-click to set the amount. It will not pull out extras if the count goes over. According to the mod's project page, it also accepts a crafting card so it can craft what it needs.[1][18][26]
The ME Advanced IO Bus inherits the functions of both of its parent buses. It takes some time to ramp up to speed, then runs very fast when fully upgraded. It exports according to its filter up to a fixed amount. Import and export operations are counted separately, so the bus will not get stuck doing one or the other. With the regulate option on, it prioritizes importing anything over the set amount, then imports whatever isn't filtered.[18][27]
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: advanced_ae:advanced_io_bus
Reaction Chamber
The Reaction Chamber speeds up chemical reactions using a catalyst fluid and a lot of power. Acceleration cards increase the power it needs per tick. If it draws power through the ME system and can't get a full tick's worth, you may see flickering, so give the grid energy buffers. A warning shows on screen when power is insufficient.[18][28]
- Full block pattern provider: it connects the chamber directly to the grid so it can draw power as needed. Part-form providers and interfaces don't provide a grid connection, so you would need a fluix cable attached directly to the chamber.[28]
- External power: any source that can push energy can fill its buffers.[28]
- Induction Cards (needs Applied Flux): they go in cable-part or directional pattern providers and export power from Energy Cells. They start slow and ramp up, so speed won't be maxed at first.[28]
Quantum armor and monitors
Quantum armor pieces link to your ME system individually, and the extra perks only work while you are in range of the connected access point. Equip the pieces and press N (the default hotkey) to open the configuration menu, where you add, remove and toggle upgrade cards. The Auto Feeding Card and Auto Stock Card both rely on that link to pull items from the system.[18][29]
The ME Throughput Monitor works like a normal monitor with an added throughput meter for one item or fluid, and it needs no channel. Right-click with an item, or double-right-click with a fluid container, to set it. Right-click with an empty hand to clear it, and shift-right-click with an empty hand to lock it. The configurator cycles it between items per tick, per second and per minute, and readings take a moment to stabilise after you change modes.[30]
How do you progress through AdvancedAE?
5 parts
AdvancedAE improves how you handle your ME system and expands what end-game setups can do. In this pack the progression runs through advanced pattern providers, smarter buses, the Quantum Computer, then the Quantum Armor. Many of the recipes were changed by the pack, so follow the recipe blocks below rather than any other guide you may have seen.[3][9]
First step: Advanced pattern providers
The Advanced Pattern Provider and the Advanced Extended Pattern Provider let a pattern push each item to a specific side of the target machine. That means you can automate machines that need particular inputs on particular faces with a single block and no pipes.[5]
The extended version can hold up to 36 patterns. To use the side feature you need a pattern made with the Advanced Pattern Encoder. Advanced patterns only decode properly in an advanced provider and behave like normal patterns anywhere else.[4][5]
The pack changed the crafting recipes for both providers, the encoder and the upgrade item.[9]

Tier 2: Smarter buses
The ME Import Export Bus exports what is in its filter and imports anything that is not. The ME Advanced IO Bus inherits the functions of both of its parents. It exports up to a fixed amount per filter and has a mode that regulates stock. It counts import and export operations separately, so it does not get stuck on one of them.[31][32]
The recipes for these buses and the stock export bus are the mod's own, not pack changes.[9]

Tier 3: The Quantum Computer
This is the heart of AdvancedAE. It is a multiblock computer that can run an unlimited amount of crafts and shares co-processors while it still has crafting storage left.[3]
The basic parts are the Quantum Crafting Unit and the Quantum Computer Accelerator, and the pack changed both recipes. Storage comes next, from 128M Quantum Computer Storage up to 256M Quantum Computer Storage. After that come the Quantum Computer Core and the Quantum Crafter, which use the mod's own recipes. Several of these recipes ask for Shattered Singularity.[9]

Tier 4: Quantum Armor
The armor quest is "Quantum Armor (AE2)" quest, in the Basic Armor chapter. It asks for the Quantum Helmet, Quantum Chestplate, Quantum Leggings and Quantum Boots. The quest describes default stats similar to Netherite armor and an energy shield like the MekaSuit's. It also says upgrades can add things like flight, night vision and recharging.[8]
The pack changed all four armor recipes, and each one uses the matching Unobtainium armor piece as an ingredient. The mod's separate reset recipes for each piece are the mod's own.[6][9]

How does AdvancedAE work with other mods?
6 parts
AdvancedAE is an AE2 addon, so most of its crafting chains run through Applied Energistics 2. In this pack it also reaches into ExtendedAE, Allthemodium, Ender Drives and AE2 Wireless Terminal Library, and it ends up inside an All the Tweaks item. The pack changed several of these recipes, so check the recipe blocks below rather than relying on the mod's defaults.[1][9]
Applied Energistics 2
- The ME Import Export Bus is built from AE2's import and export buses plus a logic processor. The ME Advanced IO Bus then combines that bus with the ME Stock Export Bus and an Acceleration Card.[9][31]
- The pack adds its own inscriber recipe for the Printed Quantum Circuit (recipe below), a step toward the Quantum Processor. The recipe blocks show where the Printed Silicon, the Quantum Alloy and the Inscriber Universal Press fit in.[9]
- The Advanced Pattern Provider is crafted from an ME Pattern Provider. The pack changed that recipe.[9]
- The Quantum Crafter Terminal has a wireless version, the Wireless Quantum Crafter Terminal. The recipe blocks below show where the ME Pattern Access Terminal, the Dense Energy Cell and the Wireless Receiver fit in.[9]
- Many armor upgrade cards use AE2 parts. The walk and sprint speed cards use the Acceleration Card, and the Auto Stock Card uses an ME Controller and an ME Wireless Access Point.[9]

Other mods
The Quantum Crafter can do multiple crafts that need a non-consumed ingredient, such as Mystical Agriculture's essence upgrading. The Advanced Pattern Provider can push each item to a chosen side of a machine, which the in-game guide pitches at Mekanism-style machines. The Quantum Armor quest compares the armor's energy shield to the MekaSuit.[1][5][8]
Which All the Mons quests use AdvancedAE?
2 parts
AdvancedAE shows up in two quests in this pack. They sit in different chapters, and each one asks you to hand in finished items.[7][8]
Basic Armor: Quantum Armor (AE2)
The quest "Quantum Armor (AE2)" quest is in the Basic Armor chapter. To complete it, you hand in the full set: Quantum Helmet, Quantum Chestplate, Quantum Leggings and Quantum Boots.[8]
The quest text says the armor has default stats similar to Netherite Armor. Like the MekaSuit, it can use Energy as a shield. You can also install upgrades such as Flight, Night Vision and a recharge ability.[8]
The quest also says you can link the armor to your Storage System. That lets you pull Energy and any item out of the system wherever you are.[8]
The ATM Star: Quantum Computer Multi-Threader
The quest "Quantum Computer Multi-Threader" quest is in The ATM Star chapter. It asks you to hand in a single item, the Quantum Computer Multi-Threader. It comes after the Applied Energistics quest in that chapter, so finish that one first.[7]
The quest text says the Hammers and Pliers on the Crafting Table can't make what you need for Quantum Computers. You'll need a Crystal Assembler instead.[7]
Unverified The sources don't say how these two chapters are ordered relative to each other, and they don't give the exact in-pack recipes for the quest items.
Which AdvancedAE config options matter?
2 parts
All of AdvancedAE's settings that this pack sets live in one file, config/advanced_ae-common.toml, and they all control the Quantum Computer multiblock. If you're planning a big crafting setup, these are the numbers to know.[33]
Values this pack sets
- [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputerMaxSize]] is 7 in this pack, and the allowed range is 5 to 12. This is the maximum dimensions of the multiblock.[33]
- [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputerDataEntanglerMultiplication]] is 6 (range 2 to 8). This is the multiplication factor of the data entanglers.[33]
- [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputerMultiThreaderMultiplication]] is 6 (range 2 to 8). This is the multiplication factor of the multi threaders.[33]
- [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputermaxDataEntanglers]] is 1 (range 1 to 2). This is the maximum number of Data Entanglers per multiblock.[33]
- [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputerMaxMultiThreaders]] is 1 (range 1 to 2). This is the maximum number of multi threaders per multiblock.[33]
- [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputerAcceleratorThreads]] is 12 (range 4 to 16).[33]
How this differs from the mod's description
The mod's project page describes the Quantum Computer multiblock as scaling up to 5x5x5, with the Quantum Data Entangler and Quantum Multi-Threader multiplying storage and co-processors by 4. This pack's config is different: the maximum size is set to 7 and both multiplication factors are set to 6. So a multiblock here can be bigger and gets a stronger boost from those two special blocks than the project page describes.[1][33]
For the standalone Quantum Core, the project page lists 256M storage and 8 co-processors. This pack's config doesn't show a change to those figures.[1][33]
Unverified The config file's comment for the accelerator threads option is a copy of the multi threader limit comment, so it's unclear exactly what that option controls. Its value of 12 is confirmed, but its effect in-game isn't.
What changed in AdvancedAE between versions?
2 parts
There isn't much version history to report for AdvancedAE in this pack. All the Mons 0.6.0-beta ships AdvancedAE 1.6.9-1.21.1, and the mod has been in the pack since All the Mons 0.3.0-beta or earlier.[2]
AdvancedAE 1.6.9-1.21.1
The mod's own changelog for the version you're running lists one change: extra client side checks were added for player events. Nothing else is listed for this release.[2][34]
Pack changelogs
No pack changelog entries for this mod were available, so I can't tell you whether any earlier All the Mons release changed its version, recipes or behavior.[2]
