What is Applied Flux?
3 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 4.5 guide
Applied Flux adds energy storage to your ME network. Instead of keeping FE in separate batteries, you store it in dedicated cells on the network and manage it with the same AE tools you already use. The pack includes Applied Flux 1.21-2.1.3-neoforge.[1][2][3]
What it does
The main attraction is the ME FE Storage Cell, the primary way to store power with this mod. Capacity works in bytes, like item and fluid cells. By default, every byte holds 1,048,576 FE. The biggest cell, 256M ME FE Storage Cell, holds 281,474,976,710,656 FE at default settings. That matches the project page's claim of over 200 trillion FE. The capacity per byte can be changed in the Appflux config, and the sources don't say whether the pack changed it.[1][4]
Your terminals show the stored energy as a green fluid. It isn't a real fluid and buckets won't work on it. You can fill or drain it with any energy container, such as batteries or electric tools.[5]
To get energy out of the network and into machines, use the Flux Accessor. By default it has no I/O limits, though that can be changed in the Appflux config. It has a fast mode, which outputs every tick and may cause lag if you lean on it heavily, and a normal mode, which scales output to the target's stored energy and avoids lag.[6]
Who it's for
This mod is for players who already run an ME network and want to bring their power system into it. Everything is built around the network: cells for storage, the accessor for output, and terminals for charging and draining items. Several crafting materials support this. Energy Processor is needed by all energy devices to route energy. Insulating Resin keeps stored energy from leaking and is required for ME FE Cell Housing. Redstone Crystal can store a large amount of energy while taking up very little space.[1][3][4][7][8][9]
If you want to carry power with you, portable FE cells are a quarter the size of the normal FE cells and can automatically charge items in your inventory.[10]
Where it fits in progression
Unverified This mod is not on the ATM Star path, and no quests in this pack involve it. The sources don't say when in the pack's progression you're meant to start using it.
How do you get started with Applied Flux?
6 parts
Applied Flux lets you store power as FE inside your ME network, in cells that work like the item and fluid cells you already know from AE2. The order below takes you from nothing to a working energy cell, and then to pulling that power back out.[1][11][12]
Insulating Resin
Start with Insulating Resin. It stops stored energy from leaking, and you can't make FE cell housing without it.[13]

ME FE Cell Housing
Next, craft an ME FE Cell Housing. You'll reuse it for every cell tier, and the portable cells need one too.[14]

Your first storage component
The 1k ME Energy Storage Component is the starting component. The pack changed this recipe compared with the mod's own version, so follow the recipe shown here and not an older guide.[14]

Your first FE cell
Now combine the component and the housing into a 1k ME FE Storage Cell with the shapeless assembly recipe below. There is also a direct crafting recipe that skips the separate housing.[14]

The direct alternative: this recipe makes the cell without a separate housing.
Cell capacity is based on bytes, just like item and fluid cells. By default every byte holds 1,048,576 FE, and that value can be changed in the Appflux config.[12]
Energy Processor and bigger cells
The Energy Processor manages energy flow in an ME system, and every energy device needs one to route energy. It's also an ingredient in the 4k component recipe, so you'll want it next. Each larger component is crafted from the one before it, so you work up the tiers one at a time.[14][16]

Getting power back out
The Flux Accessor moves energy in and out of your ME network. By default it has no I/O limits, and you can change that in the Appflux config. It pulls energy from the network, and you need an external cable to push energy onward.[17][18]
Crafting Shaped

Recipe id: appflux:flux_accessor
The accessor has a fast mode and a normal mode. Fast mode outputs energy every tick, which can cause lag if you use it heavily. Normal mode outputs based on the target's stored energy and won't cause lag. The energy it handles is the FE in your FE Storage Cells, not the energy in AE2 Energy Cells.[17]
Once that works, the Induction Card is worth a look: it allows AE devices to accept or send energy.[18][20]
How does Applied Flux work?
6 parts
Applied Flux lets your ME network store energy (FE) the same way it stores items and fluids, and lets you pull that energy back out to power things. It's all about managing your power system through AE.[1][11]
FE storage cells
The ME FE Storage Cell, such as the 16k ME FE Storage Cell, is the main way to store power with Applied Flux. Capacity is based on bytes, just like item and fluid storage cells. The mod's guide says every byte holds 1,048,576 FE by default, and that this can be changed in the Appflux config.[12]
With those default numbers, the smallest cell holds 1,073,741,824 FE and the largest holds 281,474,976,710,656 FE, which is over 200 trillion. The cells run from the 1k size up to the 256M size.[1][12]
Unverified The FE per byte value and the Flux Accessor I/O limits are set in the Appflux config. The sources here do not show the pack's values for them, so treat the capacities above as the mod defaults from its in-game guide.
Portable FE cells exist for every size too, but they are only a quarter of the size of the normal cells. They can also automatically charge the items in your inventory.[21]
Building a cell
A cell is made from a storage component plus a housing. Insulating Resin stops stored energy from leaking, so it is the necessary material for the ME FE Cell Housing. You harden the resin in a blasting step to get Harden Insulating Resin.[13][14]
Once you have a component and a housing, you just combine them. Here is the 16k version:[14]
The pack changes the recipe of the smallest component, the 1k ME Energy Storage Component:[14]

Energy Processor
The Energy Processor is what manages energy flows in the ME system. All energy devices need one to route energy. You make it in an inscriber from a Printed Energy Circuit, which is stamped using the Inscriber Energy Press.[14][16]
The mod's own inscriber recipe for the printed circuit, using the Energy Press.
The pack adds a second way to make the printed circuit, using its universal press instead of the Energy Press. It also changes two other routes: the circuit cutter turns a charged redstone block into 9 printed circuits, and the crystal assembler makes energy processors 4 at a time.[14][22]

The pack changes the AE2 charger recipe for it, adds a Powah energizing recipe that costs 20,000 energy for one crystal, and changes the Advanced AE reaction recipe too. The Charged Redstone Crystal Block has its own energizing recipe at 180,000 energy, and a crafting recipe from the mod.[14][24]

Getting energy out: Flux Accessor
The Flux Accessor can input and output energy stored in your ME network. By default it has no I/O limits, and the guide says that can be changed in the Appflux config. Its tooltip says it pulls energy from the network and needs an external cable to push energy.[17][18]
It has a fast mode and a normal mode. In fast mode it outputs energy every tick. In normal mode it outputs depending on the target's stored energy, so it won't cause lag.[17]
The Induction Card lets AE devices accept or send energy.[18][20]
Terminal and config tricks
Terminals display the stored energy as green fluid. It isn't real fluid, so you can't fill it with buckets. You can use an energy container, such as a battery or an electric tool, to fill energy into it or drain energy from it.[1][15]
How do you progress through Applied Flux?
5 parts
Unverified The sources here show no quests tied to Applied Flux in this pack, so the order below follows the in-pack recipes instead of a quest line. Check the pack's quest book in game for anything beyond that.
Redstone crystals
Everything starts with the Redstone Crystal. The mod's guide says redstone is combined with fluix crystal and glowstone to crystallize it. In this pack there is a transform recipe for it, a Crystal Assembler recipe that also uses water, and an Advanced AE reaction that uses water too. The assembler and reaction versions are changed by the pack.[14][23]
Transform (ae2)
- any glowstone dust
- any fluix gem
- any redstone storage block
Recipe id: appflux:transform/redstone_crystal
Next you want Charged Redstone Crystal. The pack gives you several routes: a Charger recipe that takes a redstone gem (changed by the pack), Powah energizing recipes that the pack adds, and a reaction that turns a Redstone Crystal plus water into the charged version (also changed by the pack).[14]
Charger (ae2)

The Charger route is one the pack changed.
Energy Processor
The Energy Processor routes energy through your ME system, and every energy device needs one. You print charged redstone with an Inscriber Energy Press in the Inscriber to get a Printed Energy Circuit, then inscribe that into the processor. In this pack the Charger can turn an iron block into the press.[14][16]
Insulating resin and cell housing
Insulating Resin stops stored energy from leaking, and it is a necessary material for the ME FE Cell Housing. You can also smelt or blast the resin into Harden Insulating Resin.[13][14]

The cell tiers
FE storage cells run from 1k ME FE Storage Cell, 4k ME FE Storage Cell, 16k ME FE Storage Cell, 64k ME FE Storage Cell and 256k ME FE Storage Cell up through 1M ME FE Storage Cell, 4M ME FE Storage Cell, 16M ME FE Storage Cell, 64M ME FE Storage Cell and 256M ME FE Storage Cell. Each cell is built around a matching storage component, from 1k ME Energy Storage Component up to 256M ME Energy Storage Component.[12][14]
The cores form a chain. The first core has a recipe the pack changed, and every later core consumes the previous tier's core. That means you climb a step at a time and can't skip tiers.[14]

To turn a core into a cell, combine it with a cell housing in a shapeless craft. A direct crafting recipe also exists for each tier.[14]
The same assemble pattern applies to every tier.
By default every byte holds 1,048,576 FE. The default capacities in the guide table run from 1,073,741,824 FE for the smallest cell up to 281,474,976,710,656 FE for the largest. That per-byte value can be changed in the Appflux config.[12]
Side branches: portable cells and the Flux Accessor
Each tier also has a portable version, such as the 1k Portable FE Cell. Portable cells have only a quarter of the size of the normal FE cells. The guide says you can install items in them and they will automatically charge the items in your inventory.[14][21]
The Flux Accessor inputs and outputs energy stored in your ME network. By default it has no I/O limits, but you can change that in the Appflux config. It has a fast mode that outputs energy every tick and may cause lag if heavily used, and a normal mode that won't cause lag.[17]

How does Applied Flux work with other mods?
4 parts
Applied Flux is an add-on for AE2, so most of its connections run straight into the AE2 network you already know. A few recipes also reach into other mods, and the pack has changed several of them. Here's how it all links up.[11][14]
AE2 parts you'll keep using
- Every FE storage cell is built around an AE2 Quartz Glass shell and one of the energy storage components. From 4k upward, each component is made from the one below it, together with Vibrant Quartz Glass.[14]
- The first step of that ladder, 1k ME Energy Storage Component, uses an Logic Processor. The pack changed this recipe.[14]
- From 1M upward, the components switch to the Engineering Processor. The 4k to 256k components use the Energy Processor instead.[14]
- Portable FE cells use an ME Chest and an AE2 energy cell. The k tiers take the Energy Cell, and the M tiers take the Dense Energy Cell. There are also disassembly recipes that use the AE2 storage cell disassembly type.[14]
- The Flux Accessor is crafted with an Energy Acceptor and the Energy Processor. The Induction Card then combines a Basic Card with the accessor.[14]

Making the Energy Processor
The Energy Processor is what routes energy through your ME system, so you'll want a steady supply. You can make it in the AE2 inscriber, using Printed Silicon and a Printed Energy Circuit.[14][16]
The extendedae crystal assembler can also make it, and the pack changed that recipe.[14]

Redstone Crystal and advanced_ae
The Redstone Crystal is made with a reaction recipe from the advanced_ae namespace, and the pack changed it. It involves Fluix Crystal among its inputs.[14][23]
This reaction recipe was changed by the pack.
Compressing the Charged Redstone Block
If you use AllTheCompressed, the pack lets you compress the Charged Redstone Crystal Block into Charged Redstone Crystal Block 1x. A shapeless recipe turns it back. Both recipes are changed by the pack.[14]

Which All the Mons quests use Applied Flux?
2 parts
Applied Flux doesn't get a quest of its own in the sources I have. It shows up in one quest, the a quest in "Extended & Advanced AE" in the "Extended & Advanced AE" chapter (group "Storage", chapter 32 of 70 in the book).[25]
What the quest says
The card is ME Recharging Card. It lets a Quantum Armor piece charge from your ME system's energy, as long as the armor is linked to a Wireless Access Point. If you put it in a Quantum Chestplate, it also recharges items in your inventory.[25]
The Applied Flux part is a special interaction: if you have FE Cells in your network, the card extracts energy from those.[25]
How you get there
The chapter is a branching tree. This is the path that leads to the recharging card:[25]
- "Extended & Advanced AE" quest is the chapter's opening quest and asks for Fluix Crystal.[25]
- "Advanced AE" quest comes next and asks for Logic Processor.[25]
- "Reaction Efficency: The Reaction Chamber" quest follows, asking for Reaction Chamber.[25]
- "Quantum Ingredients" quest comes after the Reaction Chamber and asks for Shattered Singularity, Quantum Alloy and Quantum Processor.[25]
- "ME System As Armor: The Quantum Armor" quest comes after the ingredients quest. It asks for the quantum helmet, chestplate, leggings and boots.[25]
- "Upgrades for Quantum Armor" quest follows the armor and asks for Quantum Upgrade Base Card. It also explains how to open the Quantum Armor Configuration Menu (N by default).[25]
- a quest in "Extended & Advanced AE" is one of the many card quests that sit after the upgrades quest.[25]
What changed in Applied Flux between versions?
All the Mons 1.3.0 ships Applied Flux 1.21-2.1.5-neoforge. The mod has been in the pack since All the Mons 0.3.0-beta or earlier, so it is one of the long-standing additions.[26]
The mod's own changelog for 1.21-2.1.4-neoforge says it was the first release in 1.21.1. That is the only mod changelog entry I have for this guide.[27]
Unverified There are no pack changelog entries for Applied Flux, and no mod changelog was available for 2.1.5, the version in this pack. What changed between 2.1.4 and 2.1.5 is unverified.
