What is RFTools Dimensions?
RFTools Dimensions is an addon for RFTools that handles the creation of dimensions. It adds machines and tools that let you build dimensions using RF power, so you'll want your power setup ready before you start.[1]
It needs RFTools to work, so the two always go together. This pack ships RFTools Dimensions version 1.20-11.0.11.[1][2]
How do you get started with RFTools Dimensions?
5 parts
RFTools Dimensions is an addon that needs RFTools. It adds machines and tools for creating dimensions using RF power. In this pack, most of what you build here starts from one small item, so that's where we begin.[1][3]
First: the Empty Dimlet
The Empty Dimlet is the base of this mod's crafting. Machines like the Dimlet Workbench, Knowledge Holder, Enscriber and Researcher build on it, and so do the typed empty dimlets. Make a handful before anything else.[3]

Second: the Dimlet Workbench
Next comes the Dimlet Workbench, the first machine in the chain. Its recipe uses an Empty Dimlet, which is why you made those first.[3]

Third: the typed empty dimlets
Each kind of dimlet has its own empty version. The two to start with are the Empty Terrain Dimlet and the Empty Biome Dimlet. Biome dimlets let you control which biomes a dimension has. Attribute dimlets are modifiers for terrain dimlets that change how the terrain is generated, and the Empty Attribute Dimlet is the empty version of those.[3][4]

Fourth: grab biomes with the Biome Absorber
The Biome Absorber absorbs the biome it is standing in, and you can use it to create dimlets of that biome. Its screen shows a progress readout. Place it in a biome you want and let it work. The Block Absorber and Fluid Absorber also have their own recipes in the pack.[3][4]

Fifth: the Enscriber and Dimension Tabs
The dimlet tooltips say to use the dimlet in a Dimension Enscriber to create a Dimension Tab. That makes the Enscriber your next target, along with the Empty Dimension Tab. The pack changed the Enscriber recipe, so use the one below.[3][4]

How does RFTools Dimensions work?
7 parts
RFTools Dimensions is an addon for RFTools that adds machines and tools for creating dimensions using RF power. It requires RFTools to run.[1]
From empty dimlet to finished dimension
Everything revolves around dimlets. The mod's own text says every dimension needs its own unique sequence of dimlets, and you turn a set of them into a Dimension Tab in the Enscriber (the dimlet tooltips call it the Dimension Enscriber). A Dimension Builder then builds the dimension from a realized dimension tab.[4]
- Make dimlets in the Dimlet Workbench. It only works with a Knowledge Holder placed next to it. You feed it an Empty Dimlet and, for the full dimlet, an essence such as Common Dimensional Essence.[4]
- Put your dimlets into the Enscriber to create a Dimension Tab.[4]
- Feed the realized dimension tab to the Dimension Builder, which creates and maintains the dimension.[4]

The Enscriber, Researcher, Dimension Builder and Dimension Editor all have recipes that this pack changed, so don't rely on what you remember from other packs. The Enscriber and Researcher both need an Empty Dimlet plus a Machine Frame, along with pack-specific extras.[3]

Dimlet types and how they combine
- Terrain dimlets set the base shape of the world. Attribute dimlets are modifiers for terrain dimlets that alter how the terrain is generated.[4]
- Block dimlets change which blocks the terrain or features use. Place them in front of the terrain or feature dimlet.[4]
- Biome dimlets control which biomes exist. Biome category dimlets represent groups of biomes with similar characteristics, and biome controller dimlets control how the biomes are laid out.[4]
- Digit Dimlet has no effect. It only helps make a dimension unique.[4]
The Empty Terrain, Empty Attribute and Empty Biome Category dimlets each have their own recipe built on an Empty Dimlet. You convert them into full dimlets at the Dimlet Workbench.[3][4]

The pack also has 10 recipes of a special cycle type that take a Digit Dimlet and give a Digit Dimlet back. Two of them are rftoolsdim:digit0 and rftoolsdim:digit1.[3]
Absorbers: getting dimlets from the world
The Biome Absorber absorbs the biome it is placed in, and you can use that to create dimlets of that biome. The Block Absorber absorbs blocks of one type (up to 256) to make a block dimlet. The mod also has a Fluid Absorber and a Structure Absorber, but the sources here don't describe how they work.[4]

Power and maintaining a dimension
Both the Dimension Builder and the Dimension Editor get an infusing bonus: reduced power consumption and faster processing. The Editor changes an existing dimension. You can add some dimlets, add a new charged matter receiver, or destroy the dimension using TNT. A Dimension Monitor shows the current power in a dimension.[4]

Dimlet packages: what can become a dimlet
This pack uses data files (dimlet packages) to define which blocks and tags can be used as dimlets. Each entry has a rarity, a create value, a maintain value, a ticks value, and flags for worldgen and dimlet. Tag entries also name an essence item. The sources don't explain what each number does, so compare entries rather than assuming units.[6][7][8]
- The RFTools dimensional shard blocks for the End, Nether and Overworld are rare, with 300 create, 300 maintain and 100 ticks. They are flagged as both worldgen and dimlet.[7]
- The Dimensional Block family, such as Dimensional Blank Block and Dimensional Block, is common at 10 for create, maintain and ticks, also flagged as worldgen and dimlet.[7]
- The listed Powah blocks, including energized steel, the crystal blocks, uraninite blocks and ores, and dry ice, are marked with dimlet set to false and worldgen set to false. The uraninite ores are uncommon at 100, and the rest are common at 10.[6]
- The tag forge:ores is legendary at 2,000 create and 3,000 maintain with 200 ticks. It uses Nether Star as its essence and is not flagged as a dimlet.[8]
- Planks, wool, ice and glass tags are uncommon at 100 create and maintain with 40 ticks. The logs tag is uncommon at 200 and 80 ticks. The dirt tag is common at 10. All of these are flagged as worldgen and dimlet.[8]
The Botania, Thermal and vanilla blocks packages exist as separate data files, but their contents aren't covered here.[4]
Dimensional shards and endgame uses
The pack adds shapeless recipes that break dimensional blocks down into shards. The blank block gives 4 shards, the Dimensional Block and the Dimensional Small Blocks give 3 each, and the cross, cross2, pattern1 and pattern2 blocks give 2 each.[9]
Dimensional essences also show up in endgame crafting. The pack's Extended Crafting recipe for the quarry shape card uses common, rare and legendary essence, and the ultimate infinity seeds recipe uses rare and legendary essence.[10][11]
Shaped Table (extendedcrafting)
Recipe id: rftoolsbuilder:shape_card_quarry
Dimensional blobs
The mod adds Common, Rare and Legendary blobs. In this pack's config their maximum health is commonBlobMaxHealth = 30, rareBlobMaxHealth = 250 and legendaryBlobMaxHealth = 5,000.[4][5]
How do you progress through RFTools Dimensions?
5 parts
Progression for RFTools Dimensions in this pack is driven by its recipes, so here is the order they naturally give you, from the first Empty Dimlet up to the Legendary tier items.[3]
Stage 1: Dimlet basics
Everything starts with the Empty Dimlet. It is used in the recipes for the Dimlet Workbench, the Knowledge Holder, the Enscriber, the Researcher and every empty dimlet type, so make a stack of them early.[3]

- Empty dimlets for the rest: Empty Fluid Dimlet, Empty Feature Dimlet, Empty Structure Dimlet, Empty Sky Dimlet, Empty Time Dimlet, Empty Tag Dimlet and Empty Attribute Dimlet.[3]
- The Digit Dimlet is made from an Empty Dimlet. The recipes digit0 to digit9 are cycle recipes that take a Digit Dimlet and give a Digit Dimlet back.[3]
Stage 2: The main machines
The pack changed four of the mod's machine recipes: the Dimension Builder, the Dimension Editor, the Enscriber and the Researcher. Check these recipes here and do not rely on what you remember from the mod's defaults.[3]

Stage 4: Modules and lost knowledge
Energy and Memory modules come in four steps, from Common up to Legendary, and each step is crafted from the module one step below it. The higher steps also bring in the dimensional essences: Common Dimensional Essence, Rare Dimensional Essence and Legendary Dimensional Essence. The recipes below show the top step of each line.[3]
- Energy: Common Energy Module, then Uncommon Energy Module, Rare Energy Module and Legendary Energy Module.[3]
- Memory: Common Memory Module, then Uncommon Memory Module, Rare Memory Module and Legendary Memory Module.[3]
- Lost Knowledge has the same four steps: Common Lost Knowledge, Uncommon Lost Knowledge, Rare Lost Knowledge and Legendary Lost Knowledge.[3]

Rarity of dimlet contents in the pack
The pack ships its own dimlet package files that set a rarity and cost values (create, maintain and ticks) for blocks and tags. Dimensional Shard ore blocks (end, nether and overworld) are rare, with 300 create, 300 maintain and 100 ticks. The mod's dimensional blocks, such as Dimensional Block and Dimensional Blank Block, are common at 10 for create, maintain and ticks.[7]
For tags, planks, wool, ice and glass are uncommon at 100 create, 100 maintain and 40 ticks. Logs are uncommon at 200, 200 and 80. Dirt is common at 10 for create, maintain and ticks. The forge:ores tag is legendary at 2,000 create, 3,000 maintain and 200 ticks, with dimlet set to false and a nether star as its essence.[8]
The Powah blocks in the pack's Powah file are common at 10, except the uraninite ores (poor, normal and dense), which are uncommon at 100. Each entry in that file has dimlet set to false.[6]
How does RFTools Dimensions work with other mods?
3 parts
RFTools Dimensions doesn't stand alone in this pack. The pack rewrote several of its recipes so they use items from other mods, and it also pulls the mod's items into some endgame recipes. Here's every link I can confirm from the in-pack recipes and data files.[3][10]
Machines with changed recipes
The Enscriber has a pack-changed recipe that needs a Mazarine Dragonstone Block, so you'll want that Botania-side machinery material before you can start scribing dimlets.[3]
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: rftoolsdim:enscriber
The Researcher is also pack-changed. Its recipe asks for Thermonuclear Alloy from the Mekanism Extras side of the pack.[3]

Dimensional essences in other mods' recipes
The Shape Card (Quarry) recipe was changed by the pack. It is crafted on an Extended Crafting table and mixes Advanced Netherite gear with the common, rare and legendary dimensional essences, plus Dimensional Shards from RFTools Base.[3][10]
Shaped Table (extendedcrafting)
Recipe id: rftoolsbuilder:shape_card_quarry
The pack adds the Ultimate Infinity Seeds recipe on an Extended Crafting table, and two of this mod's essences, Rare Dimensional Essence and Legendary Dimensional Essence, are part of it. The full recipe is shown below.[3]

The Fluid Absorber is one of the ingredients in both pack-added recipes for the Creative Fluid Tank. Both are crafted on an Extended Crafting table.[3]

Powah dimlet entries
The pack ships its own dimlet package file for Powah. It lists blocks such as the energized steel, blazing crystal, niotic crystal, spirited crystal and nitro crystal blocks, plus the uraninite block and dry ice, as common entries with create, maintain and ticks all at 10. The uraninite ore variants (poor, normal and dense) are uncommon, with all of those values at 100. Every entry in that file has worldgen and dimlet set to false.[6]
Which RFTools Dimensions config options matter?
The options worth knowing in this pack live in commonBlobMaxHealth's file, config/rftoolsdim-common.toml. They all set the maximum health of the blobs, so they decide how tough those enemies are.[5]
- commonBlobMaxHealth is set to 30 in this pack. This is the maximum health of the common blob.[5]
- rareBlobMaxHealth is set to 250 in this pack. This is the maximum health of the rare blob.[5]
- legendaryBlobMaxHealth is set to 5,000 in this pack. This is the maximum health of the legendary blob.[5]
Each of these options accepts any value above 0, so you can raise or lower them if you want the blobs to be tougher or softer.[5]
What changed in RFTools Dimensions between versions?
There isn't much version history to cover for RFTools Dimensions in this pack. Project Infinity 0.1 0.0.51.4-hotfix-2 ships RFTools Dimensions 1.20-11.0.11, and the mod has been part of the pack since 0.0.45.4 or earlier.[2]
The only change recorded in the mod's changelog for that version is "Various Patchouli documentation updates and fixes". No other changes are listed for this release.[12]
The sources here include no pack changelog entries for this mod, so there are no pack-side changes to RFTools Dimensions across releases to report.[2]
