What is Botanical Extra Machinery Reforged?

2 parts

This pack includes Botanical Extra Machinery Reforged 1.3.0.2. It has been in the pack since version 0.0.45.4 or earlier.[1]

The mod gives you tiered machine versions: Base, Upgraded, Advanced and Ultimate. They cover the Mana Pool, Runic Altar, Apothecary, Pure Daisy, Orechid, Alfheim Market and Industrial Agglomeration Factory, for example Base Mana Pool up to Ultimate Mana Pool. It also adds the Greenhouse, a line of sparks, catalysts and many machine upgrades.[2]

Where it sits in the quest book

The mod has its own chapter, "Botanical Machinery + Extra". It is in the Production group, is chapter 28 of 44 in the book, and holds 74 quests.[2]

The EndGame chapter

The mod also shows up late in the book. The "EndGame" chapter (Storyline group, chapter 7 of 44, 70 quests) has quests for Aureate Dragonstone Block and Mazarine Dragonstone Block. Both come after an untitled checkmark quest. The other 53 quests of that chapter are in the quest book.[3]

How do you get started with Botanical Extra Machinery Reforged?

4 parts

The quest book gives you a clear path for this mod. It lives in the "Botanical Machinery + Extra" chapter of the Production group (chapter 28 of 44). Three quests have nothing before them: a quest in "Botanical Machinery + Extra", a quest in "Botanical Machinery + Extra" and a quest in "Botanical Machinery + Extra". Here is the order I'd go in.[2]

Step one: make a Base Spark

Start with the Base Spark. In the quest book it leads into the whole spark line: Malachite Spark, then Saffron Spark, Shadow Spark, Crimson Spark, Aureate Spark and finally Mazarine Spark. The pack changed the main crafting recipe, so check it here rather than trusting your memory of the mod. There is also a shapeless recipe that turns a plain Botania Spark into a Base Spark.[2][4]

The shapeless route starts from a Botania Spark.

Step two: craft the Basic upgrade

The Basic upgrade is the item the upgrade and catalyst quests in this chapter come after, for example a quest in "Botanical Machinery + Extra" and a quest in "Botanical Machinery + Extra". The pack changed this recipe too.[2][4]

Once you have it, an early upgrade to try is the Upgrade 4x stack flower, which increases the flower stack to 4.[4][5]

This one is the mod's own recipe, not changed by the pack.

Step three: get Malachite ingots

The Basic Orechid, Basic Apothecary and Basic Alfheim Market recipes all use the Malachite ingot. It is made on the Terra Plate, and the pack changed that recipe. The chapter itself starts from the Elementium Ingot quest.[2][4]

Step four: build your first Basic machines

Each Basic machine follows the quest for the machine it is built from. For example, a quest in "Botanical Machinery + Extra" comes after a quest in "Botanical Machinery + Extra", and a quest in "Botanical Machinery + Extra" comes after a quest in "Botanical Machinery + Extra". The Basic Orechid is a good first pick.[2][4]

Expect the Basic tier to be the slowest. In this pack's config the Basic Orechid does up to 4 crafts at a time with a cooldown of 10 ticks, and it stores 2,500,000 mana. Each ore costs 10,000 mana. These are set in OrechidSettings.baseOrechid.countCraft, OrechidSettings.baseOrechid.cooldown, OrechidSettings.baseOrechid.manaStorage and OrechidSettings.recipeCost.[6]

From there each machine climbs through the Upgraded, Advanced and Ultimate tiers, following the quest chain. For example, a quest in "Botanical Machinery + Extra" leads to a quest in "Botanical Machinery + Extra" and then a quest in "Botanical Machinery + Extra".[2]

Tip: Don't rush the late sparks and dragonstone blocks. The pack added its own recipe for the Crimson Dragonstone Block, and the EndGame chapter later asks for the Aureate Dragonstone Block and Mazarine Dragonstone Block. Treat them as end-game goals.[3][4]

How does Botanical Extra Machinery Reforged work?

7 parts

Botanical Extra Machinery turns Botania-style crafting (mana pools, the Runic Altar, Pure Daisy, Orechid, the Alfheim Market and more) into machines that come in five tiers: Basic, Upgraded, Advanced, Ultimate and Ascended. This pack sets the numbers for all of them in one server config, so that is where we'll look.[5][6]

Tiers and what they change

Almost every mana machine uses the same set of tier settings. Max crafts at a time is called countCraft, and the config says it ranges from 1 to 64. In this pack it goes 4, 8, 16, 32 and 48 from Basic up to Ascended. That is the same for the Alfheim Market, Apothecary, Industrial Agglomeration Factory, mana infuser, Mana Pool, Orechid and Runic Altar.[6]

Mana storage follows a matching ladder for the Alfheim Market, Agglomeration Factory, mana infuser, Mana Pool, Orechid and Runic Altar. Upgraded holds 10,000,000, Advanced 50,000,000, Ultimate 100,000,000 and Ascended 200,000,000.[6]

The bottom of that ladder is the Basic Mana Pool, whose ManaPoolSettings.baseManaPool.manaStorage is 2,500,000.[6]

Crafting speed

The Alfheim Market, Apothecary, Agglomeration Factory, mana infuser and Runic Altar use a craftTime factor, and higher means faster. The Apothecary, Agglomeration Factory, mana infuser and Runic Altar go 2, 4, 8, 16 and 20 from Basic to Ascended. The Alfheim Market goes 2, 2, 8, 16 and 20, so its Upgraded tier is not faster than Basic on this setting.[6]

Total speed is a base value multiplied by craftTime. For the Apothecary the base is ApothecarySettings.workingDuration, set to 400.[6]

For the Alfheim Market the base is AlfheimMarketSettings.workingDuration, set to 500, described as the maximum mana output per recipe per tick.[6]

The Agglomeration Factory uses IndustrialAgglomerationFactorySettings.workingDuration, set to 10,000. The mana infuser uses ManaInfuserSettings.workingDuration, also 10,000.[6]

The Runic Altar works a little differently: RunicAltarSettings.manaCost is 100 mana per craft tick, and its total speed is that cost multiplied by craftTime.[6]

The Mana Pool is different: its craftTime is a time in ticks, so lower is faster. It goes 5, 3, 2, 1 and 1 from Basic to Ascended.[6]

Machine specifics

  • Apothecary: it stores water instead of mana. Tank sizes are 16,000, 32,000, 64,000, 128,000 and 256,000 from Basic to Ascended. The in-game tooltip shows the current water.[5][6]
  • Alfheim Market: AlfheimMarketSettings.recipeCost is 500 mana to create.[6]
  • Orechid: OrechidSettings.recipeCost is 10,000 mana to create 1 ore.[6]
  • Orechid cooldown is the rest time after crafting, in ticks: 10, 7, 5, 2 and 4 from Basic to Ascended. Ultimate has the lowest value, below Ascended.[6]
  • Pure Daisy: the slot size sets how many items can be made at once, and it is 8, 16, 32, 64 and 64 from Basic to Ascended. Basic has a durationTime of 2 and every other tier has 1. That number is multiplied by the crafting time in the recipe. The update interval is 1 tick.[6]
  • Jaded Amaranthus: it has a mana storage of 1,000,000, a cooldown of 30 and a cost of 200 mana per craft. Its countCraft is 1. Petals count that value times 2, and petal blocks count it as a flower does.[6]

The Greenhouse

The Greenhouse is the one machine here that uses both energy and mana. In this pack it has an energy capacity of 1,000,000, an energy cost of 2,000 per interaction and a base mana storage of 1,000,000. The max energy transfer is 2,147,483,647 and the sleep value is 20.[6]

The config also has a value for each flower the Greenhouse supports:[6]

Upgrades and catalysts

Upgrades and catalysts are items you put into machines, and their tooltips explain them. These are the descriptions from the mod's language file:[5]

  • Flower stack upgrades raise the flower stack to 4, 16, 32 or 64.[5]
  • Energy storage upgrades multiply storage by 10, 100 or 1000. Mana storage upgrades do the same.[5]
  • The energy cost upgrade reduces energy costs by 50%.[5]
  • The mana generation upgrade increases mana generation by 25% and energy cost by 100%.[5]
  • Greenhouse speed upgrades add 25% or 50%. The heat upgrade gives 5% more generation per 10 heat, up to 20%.[5]
  • The additional slots upgrade unlocks 2 rows of fuel slots.[5]
  • Infinity catalysts generate infinite stone, wood, seed or livingrock. The water catalyst lets you start crafting without water, and the mana catalyst lets you start without mana.[5]

The Speed Catalyst recipe below is one this pack changed from the mod's own version.[4]

Moving up a tier

Higher tiers are built from lower ones. The Advanced Alfheim Market recipe takes the Upgraded Alfheim Market as an ingredient, for example.[4]

ME and GUI settings

tickOutputSlots is set to 1. It controls how many ticks a request takes to send resources from the output slots to ME, and lowering it exports more often to avoid blocked output.[6]

How do you progress through Botanical Extra Machinery Reforged?

6 parts

In this pack the mod's progression is told in one quest chapter, "Botanical Machinery + Extra", in the Production group (chapter 28 of 44, 74 quests). It opens with three starting points: a quest in "Botanical Machinery + Extra", a quest in "Botanical Machinery + Extra" and a quest in "Botanical Machinery + Extra". Almost everything else hangs off one of those three.[2]

Step 1: Elementium and the mechanical machines

The Elementium Ingot quest unlocks the machine line. After it come the Mechanical Apothecary, Mana Pool, Daisy, Runic Altar and Alfheim Market, plus the Industrial Agglomeration Factory, the Mana Battery, the Mechanical Brewery, the Orechid, a quest in "Botanical Machinery + Extra" and the "Greenhouse" quest. These mechanical machines are the base for the Extra tiers below.[2]

The pack changed the Greenhouse recipe, so don't rely on what you remember from other packs.[4]

Step 2: Basic, Upgraded, Advanced, Ultimate

Each machine line (Alfheim Market, Apothecary, Pure Daisy, Industrial Agglomeration Factory, Mana Pool, Orechid and Runic Altar) climbs the same four tiers: Basic, Upgraded, Advanced, Ultimate. The quests are chained in that order. For example, a quest in "Botanical Machinery + Extra" comes after the Mechanical Apothecary quest, then a quest in "Botanical Machinery + Extra", then a quest in "Botanical Machinery + Extra", then a quest in "Botanical Machinery + Extra". The Orechid line starts from the plain a quest in "Botanical Machinery + Extra" quest instead.[2]

The recipes follow the same ladder. The Basic Apothecary takes the mechanical version as an ingredient, and the Advanced Apothecary takes the Upgraded one, so you can't skip a tier.[4]

The spark ladder

The Base Spark quest starts a second chain that runs alongside the machines. Each spark quest comes after the previous one:[2]

  1. Base Spark is the start. The pack changed its recipe, and there is also a shapeless recipe from a regular Botania spark.[2][4]
  2. Malachite Spark is made at a Runic Altar.[2][4]
  3. Saffron Spark, then Shadow Spark.[2]
  4. Crimson Spark is also made at a Runic Altar.[2][4]
  5. Aureate Spark is another Runic Altar recipe.[2][4]
  6. Mazarine Spark closes the chain.[2]

The catalyst quests hang off it too. The pack changed the Basic upgrade recipe.[2][4]

a quest in "Botanical Machinery + Extra" is the last stop. It comes after both the Basic upgrade and the Mazarine Spark. The pack changed its recipe too: it is crafted in an Extended Crafting table.[2][4]

Where it matters in the endgame

This mod's materials show up in other chapters. The Unobtainium Ingot quest comes after the a quest in "AllTheModium" quest, and the pack's Fusion Crafting recipe for Unobtainium takes that dragonstone.[7][8]

The EndGame chapter asks for Aureate Dragonstone Block and Mazarine Dragonstone Block, and both are prerequisites of the Creative ME Item Cell quest. The pack's Creative Capacitor recipe also uses Crimson ingot, Crimson Dragonstone and the Crimson Dragonstone Block.[3][9]

Unverified The recipes for the Upgraded and Ultimate tier machines, and for the Saffron, Shadow and Mazarine sparks, were not available when this section was written, so check them in the recipe viewer. This site does hold Project Infinity 0.1's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

How does Botanical Extra Machinery Reforged work with other mods?

4 parts

In this pack the mod connects to other mods in two directions. Its machines and materials are built from Botania parts, and its materials then turn up as ingredients in endgame recipes from many other mods.[4]

Built from Botania

The Basic tier machines grow out of items you already know. Basic Orechid starts from Botania's Orechid, and Basic Alfheim Market starts from the Alfheim Market. The quest book follows the same path: Basic Orechid comes after Orechid, and Basic Alfheim Market comes after Alfheim Market.[2][4]

The mod's metals also use Botania's own crafting methods. The pack changed the Terra Plate recipes for Crystal ingot and Malachite ingot, so use the recipes below rather than anything you remember from the mod's defaults.[4]

Other steps use more Botania machines. Aureate ingot is made on the Terra Plate with Gaia Spirit Ingot, and Crystal Dragonstone comes from an Elven Trade. The sparks use the Runic Altar and Botania's runes, and 7 of the mod's recipes are of that type. Here is the Aureate Spark.[4]

The pack also ships its own Terra Plate recipe in this mod's namespace for Alfsteel Ingot. It costs 1,500,000 mana and only loads if Mythic Botany is installed.[10]

Endgame ingredients

Dragonstone, ingots and sparks from this mod are used as ingredients in other mods' late recipes. Here is what the sources show:[4]

Infinity Mana Catalyst

The mod's own Infinity Mana Catalyst also reaches outside the mod. The pack changed it into an Extended Crafting table recipe that needs the Ultimate tier of every machine plus an Extended Crafting singularity.[4]

Creative items

The pack adds an Extended Crafting recipe for the Creative Mana Battery that uses many pieces of this mod: sparks, dragonstone blocks and the Tier 2 mana speed upgrade.[4]

That battery is then an ingredient itself, together with more of this mod's blocks, in several pack-added creative recipes:[4]

Tip: In the quest book, this mod has its own chapter, "Botanical Machinery + Extra", in the Production group (chapter 28 of 44). Each Basic machine quest comes after the matching Botania or Botanical Machinery quest, for example a quest in "Botanical Machinery + Extra" after Orechid. Greenhouse and Jaded Amaranthus come after the Elementium Ingot quest. The sparks run in order: Base Spark, Malachite, Saffron, Shadow, Crimson, Aureate. The chapter has 17 more quests that are not covered here, so check the book for those.[2]

Unverified The pack overrides all the mana storage cell recipe files (1m, 4m, 16m, 64m and 256m, plus their storage variants) with empty data. What that means for crafting those cells in this pack is not confirmed.

Which Project Infinity 0.1 quests use Botanical Extra Machinery Reforged?

5 parts

The mod has its own quest chapter in the pack's quest book, "Botanical Machinery + Extra", in the Production group. Every quest in it asks you to hand in a single item, so you can read it as a checklist for the machines, upgrades and sparks.[2]

Where the chapter starts

Three quests list no prerequisite: a quest in "Botanical Machinery + Extra", a quest in "Botanical Machinery + Extra" and a quest in "Botanical Machinery + Extra". Each one leads into its own branch.[2]

Branch 1: the machine tiers

Each of those machine lines (Apothecary, Mana Pool, Runic Altar, Pure Daisy, Alfheim Market, Industrial Agglomeration Factory and Orechid) then runs through the same four quests: Basic, Upgraded, Advanced, Ultimate. Each quest comes after the one before it. The Mana Pool line goes a quest in "Botanical Machinery + Extra", then a quest in "Botanical Machinery + Extra", then a quest in "Botanical Machinery + Extra", then a quest in "Botanical Machinery + Extra". The Basic quest of each line comes after the matching starting machine quest from the list above.[2]

Branch 2: upgrades and catalysts

Many quests list a quest in "Botanical Machinery + Extra" as their prerequisite, so you can do them in any order once you have handed that one in.[2]

Branch 3: the spark line

This is a straight chain that starts at a quest in "Botanical Machinery + Extra": a quest in "Botanical Machinery + Extra", a quest in "Botanical Machinery + Extra", a quest in "Botanical Machinery + Extra", a quest in "Botanical Machinery + Extra", a quest in "Botanical Machinery + Extra" and finally a quest in "Botanical Machinery + Extra". The a quest in "Botanical Machinery + Extra" quest lists both a quest in "Botanical Machinery + Extra" and the Mazarine Spark quest as prerequisites, so it joins the upgrade branch to the spark line.[2]

Quests in other chapters

Some of the mod's items are also asked for outside its own chapter. In the "AllTheModium" chapter (Production group), a quest in "AllTheModium" asks for Saffron Dragonstone. It is one of the quests listed as a prerequisite of a quest in "AllTheModium".[7]

In the "EndGame" chapter (Storyline group), a quest in "EndGame" and a quest in "EndGame" ask for Aureate Dragonstone Block and Mazarine Dragonstone Block. Both list the untitled checkmark quest a quest in "EndGame" as a prerequisite, and both are among the prerequisites of a quest in "EndGame".[3]

Which Botanical Extra Machinery Reforged config options matter?

5 parts

The mod has a server config file that controls how the machines behave, and a client config file that controls what you see. Everything below is how this pack ships them.[6][13]

Machine tiers

Machines come in base, upgraded, advanced, ultimate and ascended tiers, and each tier has its own settings. The Mana Pool is a good example. Max crafts at a time go 4, 8, 16, 32, 48 from base to ascended (ManaPoolSettings.baseManaPool.countCraft, ManaPoolSettings.upgradedManaPool.countCraft, ManaPoolSettings.advancedManaPool.countCraft, ManaPoolSettings.ultimateManaPool.countCraft, ManaPoolSettings.ascendedManaPool.countCraft).[6]

Mana Pool crafting time is in ticks, so lower is faster: 5, 3, 2, 1, 1 from base to ascended (ManaPoolSettings.baseManaPool.craftTime, ManaPoolSettings.upgradedManaPool.craftTime, ManaPoolSettings.advancedManaPool.craftTime, ManaPoolSettings.ultimateManaPool.craftTime, ManaPoolSettings.ascendedManaPool.craftTime).[6]

Mana Pool mana storage runs 2,500,000, 10,000,000, 50,000,000, 100,000,000 and 200,000,000 from base to ascended (ManaPoolSettings.baseManaPool.manaStorage, ManaPoolSettings.upgradedManaPool.manaStorage, ManaPoolSettings.advancedManaPool.manaStorage, ManaPoolSettings.ultimateManaPool.manaStorage, ManaPoolSettings.ascendedManaPool.manaStorage).[6]

The Apothecary crafting speed factor (higher is faster) is 2, 4, 8, 16, 20 from base to ascended (ApothecarySettings.baseApothecary.craftTime, ApothecarySettings.upgradedApothecary.craftTime, ApothecarySettings.advancedApothecary.craftTime, ApothecarySettings.ultimateApothecary.craftTime, ApothecarySettings.ascendedApothecary.craftTime).[6]

Apothecary water storage runs 16,000, 32,000, 64,000, 128,000 and 256,000 from base to ascended (ApothecarySettings.baseApothecary.fluidStorage, ApothecarySettings.upgradedApothecary.fluidStorage, ApothecarySettings.advancedApothecary.fluidStorage, ApothecarySettings.ultimateApothecary.fluidStorage, ApothecarySettings.ascendedApothecary.fluidStorage).[6]

The Alfheim Market speed factor is 2, 2, 8, 16, 20 from base to ascended (AlfheimMarketSettings.baseAlfheimMarket.craftTime, AlfheimMarketSettings.upgradedAlfheimMarket.craftTime, AlfheimMarketSettings.advancedAlfheimMarket.craftTime, AlfheimMarketSettings.ultimateAlfheimMarket.craftTime, AlfheimMarketSettings.ascendedAlfheimMarket.craftTime).[6]

Tip: The Mana Pool's craftTime is a time in ticks, so lower is faster. On the Apothecary, Alfheim Market, Runic Altar, Mana Infuser and Industrial Agglomeration Factory it is a speed factor, so higher is faster. Don't mix them up when editing.[6]

Speed and mana costs

Orechid, Daisy and others

Orechid rest time after crafting, in ticks, is 10, 7, 5, 2, 4 from base to ascended (OrechidSettings.baseOrechid.cooldown, OrechidSettings.upgradedOrechid.cooldown, OrechidSettings.advancedOrechid.cooldown, OrechidSettings.ultimateOrechid.cooldown, OrechidSettings.ascendedOrechid.cooldown).[6]

For the Daisy, the base tier has a duration multiplier of 2 and every higher tier has 1 (DaisySettings.baseDaisy.durationTime, DaisySettings.upgradedDaisy.durationTime, DaisySettings.advancedDaisy.durationTime, DaisySettings.ultimateDaisy.durationTime, DaisySettings.ascendedDaisy.durationTime).[6]

Daisy slot sizes go 8, 16, 32, 64, 64 from base to ascended (DaisySettings.baseDaisy.sizeItemSlots, DaisySettings.upgradedDaisy.sizeItemSlots, DaisySettings.advancedDaisy.sizeItemSlots, DaisySettings.ultimateDaisy.sizeItemSlots, DaisySettings.ascendedDaisy.sizeItemSlots). DaisySettings.ticksToNextUpdate is 1.[6]

The Jaded Amaranthus machine has a cooldown of 30, costs 200 mana per craft, crafts 1 at a time and stores 1,000,000 mana. See JadedAmaranthusSettings.cooldown, JadedAmaranthusSettings.costMana, JadedAmaranthusSettings.countCraft and JadedAmaranthusSettings.manaStorage.[6]

Greenhouse

The Greenhouse has energy capacity of 1,000,000 (GreenhouseSettings.energyCapacity), costs 2,000 energy per interaction (GreenhouseSettings.energyCost) and holds 1,000,000 base mana (GreenhouseSettings.manaStorage). Its sleep value is 20 (GreenhouseSettings.sleep).[6]

ME output and display

tickOutputSlots is 1 tick, so output slots send resources to ME every tick. The file notes that exporting more often helps avoid blocked output.[6]

On the client side, formattedNumberSuffix is false, so you see full numbers instead of K and M suffixes. numericalTooltip, slotInfo and nameMechanism are all true. The server's nameMechanism is also true and takes priority over the client setting.[6][13]

Custom machine rendering is on: RenderingVisualContent.all and RenderingVisualContent.greenhouse are true, along with every per-tier rendering toggle. If you ever need to disable the custom rendering for all machines at once, RenderingVisualContent.all is the switch.[13]
