What is Supplementaries?
2 parts
Same as in the FTB StoneBlock 4 1.21.0 guide
Supplementaries is a "Vanilla+" mod. Instead of rebuilding the game, it fills gaps vanilla leaves open with functional, good-looking blocks and items that sit comfortably next to what you already know. The project page lists jars, signposts, faucets, weather vanes, spring launchers, sconces, planters and lights, plus plenty more for decoration and automation.[1]
Who it's for
If you like making your base look great, or you want a few neat tools to automate small jobs, this mod is for you. The decoration and automation pieces are the main idea, so you can pick up whatever suits your build and ignore the rest.[1]
In this pack
The pack ships Supplementaries 1.21.1-3.9.8 as the NeoForge build. The project page says the mod requires Moonlight Library to run.[1][2]
The mod is described as highly configurable, and its developer points to the Customization section of the mod's official wiki for tweaking or disabling features. Keep in mind that the pack can change values, so check the pack's own configs rather than assuming mod defaults.[1]
Unverified The sources don't show where this mod fits into the pack's progression, so there is no confirmed guidance on when to use it. I also can't confirm any in-game guidebook for it.
How do you get started with Supplementaries?
2 parts
Supplementaries is a highly configurable mod that fills gaps in vanilla with things like jars, signposts, faucets, weather vanes, spring launchers, sconces, planters, lights and decoration. It also needs Moonlight Library to run.[1]
The recipes in this pack are not the mod's defaults. Every Supplementaries recipe in the pack's recipe dump is flagged as changed by the pack. So trust the recipe blocks below, not the mod's own wiki or your memory of other packs.[1][3]
Easy first crafts
The mod has no set progression, so there's no official crafting order. These are a few simple crafting-table recipes to try first. You'll see exactly what each one needs in the recipe block. Start with the Altimeter, a handy tool.[3]
Next, the Bellows is a good automation piece to have on hand.[1][3]
If you want a bit of fun, the Bubble Blower is also a crafting-table recipe in the pack.[3]

Decoration
The Awning is the base for every coloured awning. Once you have one, you dye it with a single matching dye in a shapeless recipe, for example the Red Awning. Buntings work similarly, with a white bunting as the base for dyeing.[3]

Unverified No in-jar guidebook was found for this mod, and no quests in this pack involve it. Which items matter most early on, and how this mod fits into the pack's progression, is not confirmed. Treat the order above as a suggestion only.
How does Supplementaries work?
6 parts
Supplementaries is a Forge mod that adds jars, signposts, faucets, weather vanes, spring launchers and automation-friendly blocks. It requires Moonlight Library. The sources for this pack only describe a handful of these systems in detail, so this section sticks to what they confirm.[1]
Rotating blocks and yourself
The mod has advancements for its rotation tools. You get the Wrench advancement for using a Wrench to rotate a block, and the Turn Table advancement for using a Turn Table to rotate yourself. When a block gets rotated, particles can be shown, and the pack has blocks.turn_table.turn_particles turned on.[4][5]
Wind vane and redstone power
The wind vane reacts to the redstone power it receives. Its swing follows a formula built from a pair of sine waves, and the power changes how fast it moves. The effective multiplier is the larger of 1 and the redstone power times blocks.wind_vane.power_scaling. The config notes suggest raising that scaling if you want a more distinct indication when the weather changes.[5]
The pack uses the mod's default values for the wind vane: a power scaling of 3, a first-wave amplitude (blocks.wind_vane.max_angle_1) of 30, a base period (blocks.wind_vane.period_1) of 450 ticks at 0 power, and a second period (blocks.wind_vane.period_2) of 150. The config says to keep the second period at period_1 divided by 3 for a symmetric animation.[5]
Pulleys
The pulley has a continuous mode, and its topmost moving block is clipped against the pulley body so it looks like it disappears into or emerges from it. The pack sets blocks.pulley.mask_mode to STENCIL, which the config describes as the recommended clean clip. OFF means no masking, so the block may poke through the pulley. DEPTH is simpler but can interact poorly with translucent blocks such as slime, glass and water.[5]
Altimeter
The Altimeter is a depth meter, and clicking it displays your current depth (see items.altimeter.click_action). It can show unique textures per dimension, and the pack lists the Nether and the End for that in items.altimeter.extra_dimension_textures. The pack also changes its crafting recipe, so use the one below rather than relying on the mod's defaults.[3][5]

Display blocks and jars
- Pedestals can spin the item they display. The pack enables blocks.pedestal.spin and keeps blocks.pedestal.speed at its default of 2. With blocks.pedestal.fancy_renderers on, items like swords, tridents and end crystals get special display types.[5]
- Item shelves can shift displayed 3D blocks down so they touch the shelf (see blocks.item_shelf.supported_blocks). The trade-off is that they are no longer vertically centered.[5]
- Captured mobs in jars are only ticked on the client for mobs on a list, mainly ones with particles. The pack lists Ice and Fire pixies, Druidcraft dreadfish and lunar moths, and Alex's Mobs hummingbirds in blocks.captured_mobs.tickable_inside_jars. The config warns this can cause issues and side effects.[5]
- Notice boards can center their displayed text, and the pack has blocks.notice_board.centered_text enabled.[5]
- Clock blocks show 24h time in the pack, because blocks.clock_block.24h_format is true. Setting it to false switches to the 12h format.[5]
- Flags use a fancy renderer, and the pack sets blocks.flag.fanciness to FABULOUS. The wave shape uses the mod defaults: blocks.flag.intensity of 1, blocks.flag.wavyness of 4 and blocks.flag.slowness of 100, where a lower slowness value means faster oscillation. blocks.flag.render_as_banner is false.[5]
- Ropes wobble with the mod defaults: blocks.rope.wobbling_amplitude of 1.2 and blocks.rope.wobbling_period of 12.[5]
- Bubble blocks grow at the default blocks.bubble_block.grow_speed of 0.4, where 1 would be instant. Their wobble (blocks.bubble_block.wobble) is the default 0.2, and setting it to 0 disables it.[5]
- Globes get a random texture for each world, because blocks.globe.random_world is true in the pack.[5]
Slingshot and enchantments
The Stasis enchantment lets Slingshot projectiles ignore gravity. The mod also adds lumisene fire enchantments: a Fire Aspect variant that adds lumisene fire damage when you attack a mob, and a Flame variant that does the same for arrows fired from a bow.[4]
How do you progress through Supplementaries?
6 parts
Supplementaries doesn't have a formal tier ladder in this pack. It's a toolbox of decorations and gadgets, and the only real gating is which materials its recipes ask for. So I've sorted the items below by how far into your game you'll probably be able to craft them.[3]
Unverified No quests in this pack were found that involve Supplementaries, so there is no quest-driven progression to follow for this mod.
Early game: wood and basic materials
Bamboo Spikes, Bellows and the Awning are all built from wood-based parts. Their in-pack recipes are below.[3]

Copper and redstone
The Altimeter is the one item here that pairs redstone with copper, so it's a good early-to-mid target once you've got both.[3]
Blackstone builds
The blackstone family is where the building blocks start. Blackstone Tiles has stairs, slab and wall recipes of its own, and the Blackstone Lamp and the Blackboard are part of the same family. Their recipes are below.[3]

Diamond-level: duplicating the template
The Blast armor trim Smithing Template has a recipe that takes the template itself as an input and gives one back. That makes it a duplication recipe, and it needs diamond, so it sits at the late end of this mod's items.[3]

Colour and decoration
Dyeing is a side track that doesn't gate anything. Awnings, buntings and candle holders each come in all the dye colours. Awnings and candle holders can be recoloured from the base item with a dye. Buntings can be recoloured from a White Bunting, or crafted directly from matching wool and string.[3]
There are also brick-style block sets, such as Ash Bricks and supplementaries:brittlestone_bricks. Each has its own stairs, slab and wall recipes made straight from the bricks.[3]

How does Supplementaries work with other mods?
3 parts
Same as in the FTB StoneBlock 4 1.21.0 guide
In this pack, Supplementaries connects to other mods through its flax crop, a crook recipe and three crafting recipes the pack changed. Here is every link the recipe data shows.[6]
Growing Flax
Flax Seeds can be grown into Flax in the Immersive Engineering cloche. The pack adds a cloche recipe for each soil, so you can pick whichever one you have on hand. They are all shown below.[6]
The Rich Soil version, added by the pack.
The Primogel Soil version.
The Blazebloom Soil version.
The VoidShimmer Soil version.
The Shadowpulse Soil version.
You can also get the seeds without a farm. The pack adds a crook recipe, shown below, whose possible outputs include Flax Seeds, alongside plants and seeds from other mods, such as Canola Seeds, Demon's Dream Seeds and Wild Rice.[6]
Crook (ftbstuff)
Recipe id: ftb:ftbstuff/crook/sand
The crook works on Sand.
Changed crafting recipes
The pack changed the recipes for three Supplementaries blocks so they use items from other mods.[6]
- The Planter recipe uses Rich Soil.[6]
- The Present is crafted from Cardboard.[6]
- The Sack recipe was changed as well, as shown below.[6]
Quiver in a custom machine
The Quiver also appears in a pack-added custom machine recipe, shown below.[6]

The inputs include Empowered Palis Crystal Block and Book.
Which Supplementaries config options matter?
5 parts
Supplementaries has a client file and a common file, and the pack ships both. For every option where the files list a mod default, the pack's value is the same as that default. So the options below that show a default are plain Supplementaries behavior, not pack tweaks. For options with no default listed, the files don't say whether the pack changed them, so I only report the value the pack uses.[5][7]
Cannons
- functional.cannon.cooldown is 60, functional.cannon.fuse_time is 40 and functional.cannon.fire_power is 0.6. Each of these matches the mod default.[7]
- functional.cannon.cannonball.break_radius is 1.1, the mod default. Setting it to 0 disables the block-breaking 'explosion' when a cannonball hits a block.[7]
- functional.cannon.explode_tnt is set to IGNITE. The other allowed values are IGNITE_ON_IMPACT and NONE.[7]
Jars and cages
- functional.jar.capacity is 12, the mod default. The config itself says to leave it at 12 for pixel accuracy.[7]
- Jars can capture small mobs, hold cookies and hold liquids, because functional.jar.jar_capture, functional.jar.jar_cookies and functional.jar.jar_liquids are all true.[7]
- Drinking straight from a placed jar (functional.jar.drink_from_jar) and from jar items (functional.jar.drink_from_jar_item) are both off.[7]
- functional.cage.require_taming is true, so a tameable mob can only be captured once it is tamed. functional.cage.allow_all_mobs is false, and the config notes that option is not meant for survival.[7]
- On the client side, blocks.captured_mobs.tickable_inside_jars lists the mobs that animate inside jars: iceandfire:pixie, druidcraft:dreadfish, druidcraft:lunar_moth and alexsmobs:hummingbird. The config warns this can cause side effects.[5]
Ropes, pulleys and sacks
- functional.rope.enabled is true, and functional.rope.horizontal_ropes and functional.rope.slide_on_fall are on too. functional.rope.replace_in_loot_tables is NONE.[7]
- Pulleys use continuous retraction (redstone.pulley_block.continuous_retraction) and cooperative pulleys (redstone.pulley_block.cooperative_pulleys) is also on. Together these let several pulleys pull one heavy contraption, which the config says is useful for elevators.[7]
- Sacks have 9 slots (functional.sack.slots). functional.sack.sack_increment is 2 and functional.sack.sack_penalty is true, so carrying too many sacks slows you down. The slot and increment values match the mod defaults.[7]
Way signs
Road signs are enabled (building.way_sign.road_signs.enabled) and show the distance to their target (building.way_sign.road_signs.show_distance_text). building.way_sign.road_signs.max_search_radius is 200 chunks and building.way_sign.road_signs.max_structures_searches is 12, both matching the mod defaults.[7]
Client-side display
- blocks.flag.fanciness is FABULOUS, and blocks.pulley.mask_mode is STENCIL, which the config describes as the recommended clipping mode.[5]
- Quivers render on your thigh (items.quiver.render_mode is THIGH). Skeleton quivers use the same THIGH mode through items.quiver.skeleton_render_mode.[5]
- general.tooltip_hints is true, so you get tooltip hints that guide you through the mod. blocks.clock_block.24h_format is true, so clocks show 24-hour time.[5]
What changed in Supplementaries between versions?
2 parts
FTB StoneBlock 4 1.19.1 ships Supplementaries 1.21.1-3.8.8, and the mod has been in the pack since 1.0.0 or earlier. Here are the notable changes from the mod's own changelogs, newest first.[8]
Unverified No pack changelog entries for Supplementaries were available, so any changes the pack itself made to this mod are unverified.
The 1.21.1 releases
- 3.8.8 (the version in this pack): fixed an issue with piston cooperators, and plunderers can now rarely drop spyglasses.[8][9]
- 3.8.4: improved cannon visuals, for parity with Bedrock.[10]
- 3.8.3: fixed an issue with opening menus.[11]
- 3.6.7: fixed a loot table.[12]
- 3.6.5 and 3.6.4: only random and minor fixes.[13][14]
The 1.21 releases
- 3.5.34: the earlier fix for the cannon shooting backwards had not been included in the previous release, so this one added it.[15]
- 3.5.26: fixed a crash with round globes, plus some misc fixes.[16]
- 3.5.17: fixed the multishot slingshot consuming just 1 projectile. Rope arrows shot from multishot crossbows can now be shot more than 1, and they still consume all projectiles.[17]
- 3.5.16: added a rope disable config and improved config descriptions in general, which fixed some items not being disabled properly. Disabling ropes also automatically disables pulleys, buntings, rope arrows, the mineshaft elevator and compat blocks like rope tomatoes and rope chandeliers. Deco blocks compat was updated too.[18]
- 3.5.10: added back some classes for backward compatibility and fixed the spider noteblock sound.[19]
- 3.4.20: many small internal improvements and misc fixes.[20]
