What is Replication?
2 parts
Replication is a tech mod for copying resources of similar types. You can turn dirt into stone, but you can't turn dirt into diamonds. If you like building a machine chain and then letting it do the work, this one is for you.[1][2]
The pack ships Replication 1.21.1-1.2.7. The sources don't show the pack changing any of its values or recipes, so treat everything below as how the mod normally works.[3]
How the loop works
- Break items down with a Disintegrator. Any item with matter values becomes matter.[1][2]
- Scan items in the Identification Chamber to learn their matter values. The values are stored on chips, and chips kept in a Chip Storage become available to the network.[1][2]
- Request an item from the Replication Terminal.[1][2]
- Replicator machines use the matter stored in Matter Tank blocks to make the item from scratch and send it back to the terminal.[1][2]
Matter Network Pipe cables tie it together. They carry power like any power pipe, and they move matter from the Disintegrator to the tanks and from the tanks to the machines that need it.[1][2]
Where it fits in the pack
The pack's quest book puts Replication in the resource_generation chapter. The quests are chained, so they show a sensible build order:[4]
- "Matter Replication" quest starts the chain and asks for Raw Replica and Replica Ingot.[4]
- "Creating Matter" quest covers the Disintegrator, the Matter Network Pipe and the Matter Tank.[4]
- a quest in "Generating Resources" covers the Identification Chamber, the Memory Chip and the Chip Storage. a quest in "Generating Resources" covers the Replicator.[4]
- a quest in "Generating Resources" asks for the Replication Terminal and unlocks after the tank, scanning and Replicator quests.[4]
- a quest in "Generating Resources" covers the upgrades: Replicator Enclosure, Matter Blueprint and Replicator Motor. The enclosure gives a passive 20% acceleration for 10% extra power consumption. The motor lets you set a speed multiplier, but going faster raises the chance of a failed print.[2][4]
Replication items also show up in the creative and thebackrooms quest chapters. Two of those quests list the Creative Memory Chip among their tasks, and another asks for a Memory Chip and a Replica Ingot.[5][6]
How do you get started with Replication?
5 parts
Replication lets you copy resources of similar types: you can turn dirt into stone, but not dirt into diamonds. The pack's quest chapter "resource_generation" walks you through the mod in a sensible order, and this section follows the same path.[2][4]
Step one: Replica Ingots
The first quest, "Matter Replication" quest, asks for Raw Replica and Replica Ingot. Start here because most of the machine recipes below use a Replica Ingot. You get one by smelting Raw Replica, or by blasting it for the same result.[4][7]
You can also craft a Replica Ingot from a Replica Block.
Step two: Disintegrator, pipes and tank
Next, "Creating Matter" quest wants a Disintegrator, a Matter Network Pipe and a Matter Tank. The Disintegrator breaks items down into matter. Matter pipes move that matter from the Disintegrator to the tanks, and from the tanks to the machines that need it. They also carry power. The pack changed these recipes, so use the ones below.[2][4][7]

Step three: scanning and storing patterns
a quest in "Generating Resources" covers the Identification Chamber, a Memory Chip and a Chip Storage. The chamber scans items to learn their matter values and saves them to chips. Chips kept in the Chip Storage are available to the whole network. If you put a Chip Storage on top of the chamber, patterns go straight into it, so you don't need a chip inside the chamber. The pack changed these recipes.[2][4][7]

Step four: Replicator and Terminal
a quest in "Generating Resources" asks for the Replicator. Replicators use the matter stored in your tanks to build an item from scratch. You can also switch one to Infinite Mode in its GUI, and it will keep replicating until the output is full or the matter runs out.[2][4]
Once you have scanned something, a quest in "Generating Resources" has you make the Replication Terminal. You request items there, and the Replicators send them back to it. The pack changed this recipe too.[2][4][7]

Step five: speeding things up
The last quest in the chain, a quest in "Generating Resources", covers the Replicator Enclosure, the Matter Blueprint and the Replicator Motor. Sneak + Right-Click a Replicator to attach either upgrade. The enclosure gives a passive 20% acceleration for 10% extra power use. The motor lets you set a speed multiplier, where 100% is the default speed and 20% is as fast as it can go. Going faster raises the failure chance, but a failed print doesn't use extra matter.[2][4]
For the motor, craft its blueprint, use that in the Chip Storage, and then replicate the motor.[2]

How does Replication work?
7 parts
Replication lets you copy resources of similar types. You can turn dirt into stone, but you can't turn dirt into diamonds. Here's how the machines fit together and what the pack changed.[2]
The basic flow
- Break items down with a Disintegrator. It turns any item that has matter values into matter.[2]
- Scan items in the Identification Chamber to learn their matter values. The values are stored in chips, such as the Memory Chip.[2]
- Put the chips in a Chip Storage so the whole network can use them. If you place a Chip Storage on top of the Identification Chamber, the patterns go straight into it, so you don't need a chip inside the chamber.[2]
- Request an item from the Replication Terminal. Replicators then use the matter stored in your tanks to build the item from scratch and send it back to the terminal.[2]
Matter pipes, power and tanks
Matter Network Pipe connects your Replication machines and automates the flow of power and matter. For power, they work like any power pipe. For matter, they move it from the Disintegrator to Matter Tank blocks and from the tanks to any other machine that needs it.[2]
The pack raises the pipe's power throughput: ReplicationConfig.MatterPipe.POWER_TRANSFER is 4,096, up from the mod default of 2,560.[9]
ReplicationConfig.MatterTank.CAPACITY is 256,000, the same as the mod default. The Disintegrator's own internal tank is bigger in the pack: ReplicationConfig.Disintegrator.TANK_CAPACITY is 256,000 instead of 16,000.[9]
Machine speed and power in the pack
The pack makes the core machines faster. The progress values below are the pack's settings, with the mod defaults in brackets. For the Identification Chamber and the Replicator, the config notes that the progress shown in game will be double the configured value.[9]
- Identification Chamber: ReplicationConfig.IdentificationChamber.MAX_PROGRESS is 20 (default 100). ReplicationConfig.IdentificationChamber.POWER_USAGE is 5,000, the same as the mod default.[9]
- Replicator: ReplicationConfig.Replicator.MAX_PROGRESS is 20 (default 100). ReplicationConfig.Replicator.POWER_TICK is 160 (default 80).[9]
- Disintegrator: ReplicationConfig.Disintegrator.MAX_PROGRESS is 10 (default 40). ReplicationConfig.Disintegrator.POWER_USAGE is 1,500, the same as the mod default.[9]
- ReplicationConfig.IdentificationChamber.IDENTIFICATION_PROGRESS is 1 in the pack (default 0.5), within a range of 0.0 to 1.0.[9]
The Identification Chamber can scan in a fast mode or a slow mode. Fast mode scans much faster, but the item can be consumed on each action. Slow mode is slower, but the item is only consumed when scanning reaches 100%.[8]
Replicators also have an Infinite Mode, which you set in the GUI. In it the Replicator keeps replicating a resource until the output is full or it runs out of matter.[2]
Speeding up Replicators
You add a Replicator Enclosure or a Replicator Motor to a Replicator by Sneak + Right-Clicking the Replicator with it.[2]
The Motor gives you a speed multiplier setting. 100% is the default speed and 20% is as fast as it can go. The faster you run it, the higher the failure chance. A failed print just runs again, and it doesn't use any more matter.[2]
You don't craft the Motor directly. You craft its blueprint, use that blueprint in the Chip Storage, and then replicate the Motor.[2]

How matter values are calculated
You don't need matter values for every modded item. The system works them out from crafting recipes, and pack makers can add, change or remove values with datapacks.[1]
Here are the pack's recipe calculation settings. Setting the depth to 0 disables the calculation entirely.[9]
- ReplicationConfig.RecipeCalculation.MAX_RECIPE_DEPTH is 11, the same as the default.[9]
- ReplicationConfig.RecipeCalculation.MAX_VISITED_RECIPES is 50, the same as the default.[9]
- ReplicationConfig.RecipeCalculation.IGNORED_RECIPE_MODS lists ae2qolrecipes, so recipes from that mod are ignored when calculating matter values.[9]
- ReplicationConfig.RecipeCalculation.SUBTRACT_CRAFTING_REMAINING_ITEM is true. Items that leave a remaining item behind, like the milk bucket in the cake recipe, have that leftover item's matter value subtracted.[9]
Item tags control what can be processed. The tag replication:cant_be_scanned stops an item from being scanned, but not from being replicated. The tag replication:cant_be_disintegrated stops an item from being disintegrated.[1]
Using the terminal and MatterOpedia
The MatterOpedia is a searchable list of which items have a given matter value. Open it with the button to the left of the search bar in the Replication Terminal screen, or by clicking the matter displays on the right of the terminal.[2]
- Type any matter name to see every item that has that matter.[2]
- earth>10 shows items with more than 10 earth.[2]
- nether=20 shows items with exactly 20 nether.[2]
- quantum<6 shows items with less than 6 quantum.[2]
- !earth shows items that don't have earth.[2]
- *metallic shows items that only have metallic.[2]
The terminal and MatterOpedia can be sorted by amount or by display name, ascending or descending. To cancel a running task in the terminal, Sneak + Click it.[8]
Matter values also show in item tooltips. In this pack tooltips show the values outside the terminal too, because ReplicationConfig.Client.SHOW_MATTER_TOOLTIP_VALUES_OUTSIDE_TERMINAL is true.[8][9]
Building the machines
The pack's recipes for the machines listed here all use the Replica Ingot. You get it by smelting or blasting Raw Replica.[7]
The pack changes the recipes for the Chip Storage, Disintegrator, Identification Chamber, Matter Network Pipe, Matter Tank, Memory Chip, Replication Terminal and Replicator Enclosure. Check the recipe blocks on those item pages rather than relying on the mod's defaults.[7]
How do you progress through Replication?
6 parts
Replication is a tech mod that copies resources of similar types. You can turn dirt into stone, but not dirt into diamonds. The pack's quest chapter "resource_generation" walks you through the machines in a clear order, so I'll follow it tier by tier.[2][4]
Tier 1: Raw Replica and Replica Ingots
The first quest, "Matter Replication" quest, asks you to get Raw Replica and Replica Ingot. Raw Replica can be smelted or blasted into a Replica Ingot. You can also compress and uncompress these materials through their block forms, Raw Replica Block and Replica Block. Those are the mod's own recipes, unchanged by the pack.[4][7]
Smelting turns Raw Replica into a Replica Ingot.
Blasting gives the same result.

Replica Ingots matter because most of the machine recipes in the next tiers use them. Keep a good stock.[7]
Tier 2: Matter handling
Next, "Creating Matter" quest wants the Disintegrator, the Matter Network Pipe and the Matter Tank. The Disintegrator breaks items with matter values down into matter. Pipes carry both power and matter, moving matter from the Disintegrator to tanks and from tanks to the machines that need it. The pack changed these recipes, so don't rely on what you remember from other packs.[2][4][7]

Tier 3: Scanning and storing patterns
a quest in "Generating Resources" unlocks after the matter quest. It asks for the Identification Chamber, a Memory Chip and Chip Storage. The Identification Chamber scans items to learn their matter values and saves them to chips. Chips in the Chip Storage become available to the network. If you put a Chip Storage on top of the Identification Chamber, patterns go straight into it without a chip inside the chamber. The pack changed these recipes.[2][4][7]

Tier 4: The Replicator
a quest in "Generating Resources" also unlocks after the matter quest, and it asks for the Replicator. Replicators use the matter stored in your tanks to build a requested item from scratch. They also have an "Infinite Mode", which you set in the GUI. In that mode a replicator keeps going until the output is full or the matter runs out.[2][4]
Tier 5: Upgrades and the Terminal
After the Replicator, a quest in "Generating Resources" is the upgrades quest: its tasks are the Replicator Enclosure, the Matter Blueprint and the Replicator Motor. The recipes below show the Enclosure, which the pack changed, and the Matter Blueprint, which is the mod's own.[4][7]

- Enclosure: Sneak + Right-Click the Replicator to add it. It gives a passive 20% acceleration for 10% extra power consumption.[2]
- Motor: also added with Sneak + Right-Click. You can set a speed multiplier where 100% is the default speed and 20% is as fast as it can go. Going faster raises the chance a print fails. A failed print just runs again and doesn't use more matter.[2]
- Getting the Motor: craft the blueprint, use it in the Chip Storage, and then you can replicate the motor.[2]
The last step of the chapter is a quest in "Generating Resources", the Replication Terminal. It needs the matter quest, the Replicator quest and the scanning quest done first. It doesn't wait on the upgrades quest, so you can request items before you add the Enclosure or Motor. Once you've scanned some items into chips, you use the Terminal to request them, and your Replicators build them and send them back. The pack changed this recipe too.[2][4][7]

Creative-tier quests
Replication items also show up in the "creative" chapter. "Creative Memory Chip" quest asks for a Memory Chip and a Replica Ingot, alongside several singularities from another mod. "Ascension Tier 2 - Transcendent" quest and a quest in "Backstage" each list the Creative Memory Chip among their tasks, next to creative items from other mods.[5][6]
How does Replication work with other mods?
4 parts
Replication works fine on its own, but this pack ties its items into recipes and quests from several other mods. Here's where those connections show up.[5][7]

Quests that mix mods
In the creative chapter, quest "Creative Memory Chip" quest asks for a Memory Chip and a Replica Ingot alongside several Avaritia singularities.[5]
The Creative Memory Chip also appears in quest "Ascension Tier 2 - Transcendent" quest and in quest a quest in "Backstage" from the backrooms chapter. Both quests list it next to creative-style items from other mods, such as Create's creative motor and Ars Nouveau's creative source jar.[5][6]
In the resource_generation chapter, the Replication quests start with quest "Matter Replication" quest, which asks for Raw Replica and Replica Ingot. Quest "Creating Matter" quest follows with the Disintegrator, Matter Network Pipe and Matter Tank. After that comes the Replicator in quest a quest in "Generating Resources", and the Replication Terminal in quest a quest in "Generating Resources".[4]
Which FTB StoneBlock 4 quests use Replication?
3 parts
Replication shows up in three quest chapters in this pack. The main one is resource_generation, which walks you through the whole mod. The other two, creative and thebackrooms, only ask for a Replication item as one task among many. None of these quests has a title in the quest book, so I'll refer to them by their quest refs.[4][5][6]
Chapter: resource_generation
This is the Replication questline. It starts with the basic materials and builds up to the replicator and the terminal. Here is the order, following the quests' prerequisites.[4]
- "Matter Replication" quest is the entry point. It asks for Raw Replica and Replica Ingot.[4]
- "Creating Matter" quest comes next. It asks for the Disintegrator, the Matter Network Pipe and the Matter Tank.[4]
- a quest in "Generating Resources" follows the previous quest. It asks for the Identification Chamber, the Memory Chip and the Chip Storage.[4]
- a quest in "Generating Resources" also unlocks after the disintegrator quest, so you can do it before or after the identification quest. It asks for the Replicator.[4]
- a quest in "Generating Resources" comes after the replicator quest. It asks for the Replicator Enclosure, the Matter Blueprint and the Replicator Motor.[4]
- a quest in "Generating Resources" is the last quest in the chapter. It asks for the Replication Terminal and needs the disintegrator, replicator and identification quests all done first.[4]
Chapter: creative
Replication items appear in two quests here. "Creative Memory Chip" quest asks for a Memory Chip and a Replica Ingot, along with Avaritia singularities (copper, iron, gold, JSON and redstone). It unlocks after another quest in the same chapter that doesn't involve Replication.[5]
"Ascension Tier 2 - Transcendent" quest is a big collection quest that needs many other quests finished first, including the one above. Its tasks include the Creative Memory Chip, alongside creative items from several other mods.[5]
Chapter: thebackrooms
a quest in "Backstage" asks for the same set of creative items as the collection quest above, including the Creative Memory Chip. It unlocks after a single prerequisite quest that doesn't involve Replication.[6]
Which Replication config options matter?
4 parts
Replication's settings live in a config file, and this pack changes quite a few of them from the mod defaults. Everything below comes from the pack's own config.[9]
Values the pack changed
- ReplicationConfig.Replicator.MAX_PROGRESS is 20 here, down from the mod default of 100. The file notes that the progress shown in game will be double.[9]
- ReplicationConfig.IdentificationChamber.MAX_PROGRESS is also 20 instead of 100, with the same note about the in-game progress being double.[9]
- ReplicationConfig.IdentificationChamber.IDENTIFICATION_PROGRESS is 1 here, where the mod default is 0.5. Its allowed range is 0.0 to 1.0, so the pack sets it to the top of that range.[9]
- ReplicationConfig.Disintegrator.MAX_PROGRESS is 10 instead of the default 40.[9]
- ReplicationConfig.Disintegrator.TANK_CAPACITY is 256,000, up from the default of 16,000.[9]
- ReplicationConfig.MatterPipe.POWER_TRANSFER is 4,096 instead of the default 2,560.[9]
- ReplicationConfig.Replicator.POWER_TICK is 160 instead of the mod default of 80.[9]
- ReplicationConfig.Replicator.ENCLOSURE_POWER_MULTIPLIER is 2.5 instead of 1.1, and ReplicationConfig.Replicator.ENCLOSURE_SPEED_MULTIPLIER is 0.2 instead of 0.8. The speed multiplier can range from 0.0 to 1.0.[9]
Values left at the mod default
Some options are explicitly set to the mod default. ReplicationConfig.Disintegrator.POWER_USAGE is 1,500, ReplicationConfig.IdentificationChamber.POWER_USAGE is 5,000, and ReplicationConfig.MatterTank.CAPACITY is 256,000. That means the Disintegrator's internal tank capacity in this pack matches the Matter Tank capacity.[9]
Matter value calculation
Replication works out matter values for modded items from their crafting recipes. ReplicationConfig.RecipeCalculation.MAX_RECIPE_DEPTH is 11, the mod default, and the file notes that setting it to 0 disables the recipe calculation. ReplicationConfig.RecipeCalculation.MAX_VISITED_RECIPES is 50, also the default.[9]
ReplicationConfig.RecipeCalculation.IGNORED_RECIPE_MODS is set to ae2qolrecipes. Recipes from mods on that list are ignored when matter values are calculated. With ReplicationConfig.RecipeCalculation.SUBTRACT_CRAFTING_REMAINING_ITEM enabled, items with a crafting remaining item, like the milk buckets in the cake recipe, have that remaining item's matter value subtracted from the calculation.[9]
Client options
The client options are switched on: ReplicationConfig.Client.SHOW_MATTER_TOOLTIP_VALUES_OUTSIDE_TERMINAL and ReplicationConfig.Client.SHOW_PRESS_SHIFT_TEXT are both true.[9]
What changed in Replication between versions?
FTB StoneBlock 4 1.21.0 ships with Replication 1.21.1-1.2.7. The mod has been in the pack since FTB StoneBlock 4 1.0.0 or earlier, so you've had it from the start.[3]
The mod's own changelog has entries for versions 1.2.7, 1.2.6, 1.2.5, 1.2.4 and 1.2.1 on the 1.21.1 line. The pack uses the newest of those, 1.2.7.[3][10][11][12][13][14]
Unverified The details of what changed in each Replication release were not available to this guide, so no individual fixes, additions or balance changes are listed here. The pack changelogs have no entries for this mod, so it's unverified whether the pack changed any Replication values or recipes between releases.
