What is Neo Vitae?
1 part
Neo Vitae is a blood magic mod: you spill your own blood for power. Its heart is the Ara Vitae, a multiblock altar that consumes Essentia Vitae to transmute items. Drop in a Blood Orb and the altar shares your Anima, a personal pool of essentia that follows you between dimensions. The altar has six construction tiers, and the mod has six tiers of Orbs of Vitae. This pack ships Neo Vitae 1.1.21.[1][2]
From the altar the mod branches out. The Tabula Vitae brews sigil reagents, alchemy flasks and anointments. Sigils are one-handed tools that each do a specific job for an essentia cost. The Hellfire Forge makes Sentient weapons and armor that grow stronger from the mobs you kill. Rituals built around the Master Ritual Stone do work across the world, and a Dungeon dimension holds custom demons.[1]
Where it sits in the quest book
The pack's quest book has a "Neo Vitae" chapter in the "Magic Mods" group. It follows the mod's own progression, which starts at the Ara Vitae altar. Only part of the chapter is covered here, so the rest of its quests are told in the quest book itself.[1][3]
- The chapter opens with "Raise the Ara Vitae" quest, where you build the Ara Vitae, the multiblock altar at the heart of the mod. Both "Bind a Novicius Orb" quest and a quest in "Neo Vitae" come after it.[1][3]
- "Tier I: The Ring of Runes" quest needs both of those quests done first. It is about the rings of runes that shape how the altar behaves. "The Apprentice's Orb" quest follows it, then "Tier 2" quest and a quest in "Neo Vitae".[1][3]
- The mod has six tiers of Orbs of Vitae, and "Tier II: The Magician's Orb" quest comes after Tier 2. "Rites and Rituals" quest and "The Sentient Shell" quest both follow it.[1][3]
- The Hellfire Forge crafts Sentient weapons and armor, and "The Hellfire Forge" quest comes after "Throwing Daggers" quest. Routing quests such as "Laying the Veins" quest, plus "Sentient Steel" quest, branch off the forge.[1][3]
- Later on, "The Tau Harvest" quest leads into "The Athanor" quest, the quest for the Athanor, which has its own recipe type in the mod. The Athanor in turn leads to "The Weak Blood Shard" quest, "The Crucible's Greed" quest and "Enchantment Salvaging" quest.[1][3]
How do you get started with Neo Vitae?
5 parts
Neo Vitae is a magical mod where blood is the currency of power. In this pack its quest book chapter sits in the Magic Mods group, and the opening quests build in a clear order: altar, orb, slate, runes, then your first alchemy bench. Here is that route.[1][3]
Step one: the guide book
Start with the Scriptura Vitae. The pack changes its recipe from the mod's, so use the one below.[4]
Step two: the altar and your first orb
"Raise the Ara Vitae" quest is the first quest. Craft the Ara Vitae and place it on flat stone where you can reach every side. The pack also changes this recipe. With no Essentia Vitae (EV) of its own, the altar draws blood from nearby creatures that carry no Blood Orb, refining it into EV. The quest says it never kills.[3][4]

Next is "Bind a Novicius Orb" quest. It asks you to lay a diamond on the bare altar and let the EV turn it into your first Novicius Orb of Vitae, then bind it by right-clicking with it in hand. The quest says that after this, right-clicking the bound orb offers your own blood: near an altar it flows into the basin, and away from one it is stored in the orb.[1][3][5]
Step three: slate and runes
- The quest asks you to transmute smooth stone into Tabula Rasa on the Ara Vitae (a quest in "Neo Vitae"). It calls the slate the substrate for almost every sigil you will scribe.[3][5]
- The quest asks you to make Blank Rune and ring the altar with eight of them for Tier I ("Tier I: The Ring of Runes" quest). The mod's altar rings include rune types such as Speed, Capacity and Sacrifice.[1][3]
- The quest asks you to get the Discipulus Orb of Vitae ("The Apprentice's Orb" quest), the Tier 1 upgrade over your first orb.[3][5]
Step four: your first alchemy bench
After the Discipulus orb, build the Tabula Vitae (a quest in "Neo Vitae"). It is a six-input alchemical bench. The quest says that with an orb placed inside it draws EV from your Anima to brew Arcane Scribe Tools, sigil reagents, early anointments and 2x ore processing recipes. Several of the early quests unlock after it.[1][3]
Brew the Arcane Scribe Tool next ("Circle of Intent" quest). Striking the ground with it creates the Alchemy Array. The pack changes this recipe too.[3][4]

The quest says your first sigil comes from the array ("A Sense for Anima" quest). It describes the Divination Sigil as reading the Anima within you and the EV held in an altar, and the Seer's Sigil as reading an altar in detail, which it calls invaluable when building toward higher tiers.[1][3]
Where to go next
The quest book then branches from the Tabula Vitae. "Alchemy of Ore" quest brews Basic Cutting Fluid to turn one ore into 2 dust, and the pack changes that recipe as well. "Throwing Daggers" quest starts the Spiritus economy and leads to "The Hellfire Forge" quest, where the Hellfire Forge is fueled by Spiritus.[3][4]
How does Neo Vitae work?
7 parts
Neo Vitae runs on one currency: Essentia Vitae, or EV. Drop a Blood Orb into the altar and it shares your Anima, a personal pool of essentia that follows you between worlds and dimensions. Almost every system below either spends EV or turns something into it.[1]
The Ara Vitae altar
The Ara Vitae is a multiblock altar that consumes EV to transmute items. It has six tiers of construction. The higher tiers add rings of runes (Speed, Acceleration, Charging, Capacity, Sacrifice, Dislocation, Orb and their Reinforced versions) that change how the altar behaves.[1]
The pack changes the altar's own crafting recipe, so check this one rather than relying on what you remember from the mod:[4]

Once it is built, the altar has its own recipe type. The two recipes below are for the Alchemy Flask and the Dominus Orb of Vitae, which the advancement for that orb calls a Tier 4 Orb of Vitae. The orb recipe is the one that involves the Hellforged Block, so check the recipe block for the exact in-pack version.[4][5]

Paying for things in EV
Several effects are priced in EV through the server config. In this pack every value below matches the mod default.[6]
- Sanguine Ward: activating it needs at least 200 EV (blood_attributes.sanguine_ward_min_ev), and it drains 50 EV per second while active (blood_attributes.sanguine_ward_drain_per_second).[6]
- Blood Shield: costs 100 EV per point of damage prevented (blood_attributes.shield_lp_cost_multiplier).[6]
- Blood Siphon: the EV multiplier is 10 against non-player targets (blood_attributes.siphon_mob_multiplier) and 100 against players (blood_attributes.siphon_player_multiplier).[6]
- Blood Mending: restoring one point of durability costs 100 EV (blood_mending.repair_cost_per_durability).[6]
- Demon Lantern: drains 20 EV per second from the bound player's network while it runs (demon_lantern.upkeep_per_second).[6]
- Sigil of Necromancy: one player can have at most 10 summons alive at once (sigil_of_necromancy.max_summons_per_player). Setting it to 0 removes the limit.[6]
Rituals
Rituals are anchored on a Master Ritual Stone surrounded by runes, and they can be permanent or one-shot. Each ritual has an activation cost, a crystal tier and a rune layout. Here are some examples from the guide book:[1][7][8][9]
- Butchering ritual: 25,000 EV to activate with a Weak Activation Crystal, then 25 EV every 40 ticks. It needs 16 runes: 8 Fire, 4 Earth and 4 Air.[8]
- Condor ritual: 10,000 EV to activate with an Awakened Activation Crystal, then 100 EV per second. It needs 28 runes: 20 Air and 8 Tenebrae.[9]
- Armour evolve ritual: 50,000 EV to activate with an Awakened Activation Crystal, then 25,000 EV per use. It needs 28 runes: 12 Tenebrae, 8 Fire, 4 Earth and 4 Air.[7]
The Torment Nexus binds nearby spawners, suppresses their spawns and siphons a stream of EV and loot from simulated kills. The pack keeps the mod defaults for its limits:[1][6]
- Scan area: the radius is 5 blocks horizontally and 5 vertically around the Master Ritual Stone, which gives an 11x11 area that is 11 blocks tall (torment_nexus.horizontal_range, torment_nexus.vertical_range).[6]
- Cost per kill: each simulated kill is charged 75 EV from the network (torment_nexus.ev_per_kill). One operation is capped at 8,000 EV of cost (torment_nexus.max_ev_per_operation). Past that cap the remaining kills run free and still give loot, experience and EV.[6]
- Loot rolls: at most 5 per spawner per operation (torment_nexus.max_loot_rolls_per_spawner). If more kills happen, the sampled drops are scaled up so the total loot stays the same.[6]
- EV yield: the modifier is 100 percent, so the yield is unchanged (torment_nexus.ev_modifier_percent).[6]
Spiritus and crystals
Spiritus is a second resource layer, split into five aspects: Raw, Ruina, Nihilum, Vindicta and Invictus. Each aspect has a base maximum of 100 per chunk in this pack (spiritus.max_raw, spiritus.max_ruina, spiritus.max_nihilum, spiritus.max_vindicta, spiritus.max_invictus). A Spiritus Gem spends 200 Spiritus to capture a spawner when you sneak and right-click it (spiritus.spawner_capture_cost).[1][6]
Spiritus Crystals placed in the world draw the local field into harvestable clusters. The pack uses the mod defaults for these settings:[1][6]
- Forming a crystal takes 99 Spiritus (spiritus_crystal.spiritus_to_form) and 1,000 ticks in the Crystallizer (spiritus_crystal.formation_time).[6]
- A cluster holds at most 7 segments (spiritus_crystal.max_count).[6]
- Consumption rate is 45 when the crystal matches the chunk's dominant aspect (spiritus_crystal.same_spiritus_rate) and 90 when it differs (spiritus_crystal.different_spiritus_rate). A non-matching aspect also grows at 0.6 of normal speed (spiritus_crystal.wrong_spiritus_delay).[6]
- Growth: spiritus_crystal.growth_threshold is 200. It is a reference saturation, not a minimum. A cluster grows in any chunk with more than 0.5 Spiritus of its aspect, and a segment takes roughly that many seconds in a chunk at exactly that saturation. Raise the value to slow all growth, lower it to speed growth up.[6]
Athanor and material processing
The pack's material list gives most entries three processing stages (fragment, gravel and dust) and a dust yield of 3 from ore. The pack also adds Athanor recipes that need a tool from the athanor_tool/cutting_fluids tag. These examples turn ancient debris into Ancient Debris Fragment, aluminum ore into Aluminum Fragment and azurite gravel into Azurite Dust.[4][10]

Alchemy table, arrays and the Hellfire Forge
The Tabula Vitae is a six-input alchemical bench that brews Alchemy Flasks and Anointments. The pack changes the recipe for the Arcane Scribe Tool, which you use to inscribe and activate Alchemy Arrays.[1][4][5]

Arrays have their own recipe type too. The example below is the Air Sigil array, and it is the place to check how Reagent Air and a Tabula Robur are used.[4]
The Hellfire Forge makes Sentient weapons and armor, and you can also imbue Blood Mending there. The pack changes its recipes for the Dungeon Alternator and the Crystallarium Maleficum.[1][4][5]

Fluids and startup
The experience array uses Neo Vitae's own Liquified Experience by default, at 20 mB per stored experience point (liquified_experience.mb_per_point). liquified_experience.preferred_fluid is empty in this pack. If you want another mod's experience fluid, set it as modid:fluid_id and match the mB value to that fluid. Unknown ids fall back to Neo Vitae's fluid.[6]
How do you progress through Neo Vitae?
7 parts
Neo Vitae progression follows the blood altar, the Ara Vitae, from Tier I up to Tier V. The pack's quest book has a "Neo Vitae" chapter in the Magic Mods group that walks you through it, and this section follows that order.[3]
Building the altar
The chapter opens with "Raise the Ara Vitae" quest, which asks you to build an Ara Vitae. The pack changed the altar recipe, so use the one below rather than a recipe from the base mod.[3][4]

"Bind a Novicius Orb" quest and a quest in "Neo Vitae" both come after the altar. The first asks for a Novicius Orb of Vitae. The second asks for Tabula Rasa, which the quest describes as the substrate for almost every sigil.[3]
Tier I and Tier II
"Tier I: The Ring of Runes" quest asks for Blank Rune. Its text says eight runes laid around the altar make it Tier I. It comes after both of the quests above. Next, "The Apprentice's Orb" quest asks for the Discipulus Orb of Vitae, which the quest says holds more and draws faster than the Novicius Orb.[3]
"Tier 2" quest asks for Blank Runes again. Its text says Tier II wants 24 runes and four two-block pillars standing four blocks out on every side, each capped with Blood Stained Glass, and that any solid block serves for the pillars. "Tier II: The Magician's Orb" quest then asks for the Veneficus Orb of Vitae.[3]
a quest in "Neo Vitae" also follows the Apprentice's Orb quest and asks for the Tabula Vitae. Its text calls it your first alchemical bench, used for Arcane Scribe Tools, sigil reagents and ore processing. Another quest text says potioncrafting opens at Tier I, so you can work on it while you build toward the higher tiers.[3]
From Tier II to Tier III
"Rites and Rituals" quest follows Tier II. It asks for the Master Ritual Stone, the Ritual Diviner and the Weak Activation Crystal. The pack changed the Ritual Diviner recipe.[3][4]

From there the quests run through "Breaching the Veil" quest, "The Tau Harvest" quest and "The Athanor" quest. They ask for Weak Tau, Strong Tau and then the Athanor. "The Weak Blood Shard" quest comes after the Athanor and asks for the Weak Blood Shard. Its text says the shard crowns the Tier III pillars.[3]

Tier III
"Tier III: The Master's Orb" quest asks for the Magus Orb of Vitae and the Ritual Diviner [Tenebrae]. Its text says fifty-two runes, pillars crowned in Blood Stained Glass and corners of Bloodstone Brick raise the altar to Tier III. The quest text calls that diviner the Dusk one.[3]

The Tier III diviner is a mod recipe, not changed by the pack.
"Highway to Hell" quest, "The Aura Between Worlds" quest and a quest in "Neo Vitae" all come after the Tier III quest. "The Foreman" quest, "Demonite" quest and Hellforged metal follow the Highway to Hell.[3]
Tier IV: Hellforged metal
The chain runs "The Foreman" quest, then "Demonite" quest, then a quest in "Neo Vitae". "Tier IV: The Archmage's Orb" quest comes after the Hellforged Ingot and asks for the Dominus Orb of Vitae and the Hellforged Block. Its text says a hundred runes and Hellforged Blocks at the compass points raise the altar to Tier IV.[3]
Ara Vitae Recipe (neovitae)
Recipe id: neovitae:ara_vitae/archmage_blood_orb
The pack adds extra routes to the Hellforged Ingot. Hellforged Dust can be smelted into an ingot, and a particle collision recipe makes two ingots at a time. The Piña Colada questline also tells you to progress Neo Vitae to get Hellforged metal, so this tier matters for the pack's end goal.[4][12]
Particle Collision (oritech)

This recipe is added by the pack and makes two ingots.
a quest in "Neo Vitae" also follows the Foreman quest. Its text says upgrading runes with Hellforged Parts doubles the value they previously gave your altar.[3]
Tier V
"Tier V: The Pinnacle" quest is the last altar quest. It asks for the Divinus Orb of Vitae and a Crystal Cluster. Its text says Crystal Clusters crown the pillars and an immense ring of runes girds the foundation.[3]
Hellfire Forge (neovitae)
Recipe id: neovitae:hellfire_forge/crystal_cluster
The Spiritus side path
Alongside the altar tiers, "Throwing Daggers" quest leads to "The Hellfire Forge" quest, with "Sentient Steel" quest and "Laying the Veins" quest after it. The crystal quests "Coaxing Crystals" quest and a quest in "Neo Vitae" come later in the chapter, after the Tier III quest.[3]
How does Neo Vitae work with other mods?
4 parts
Neo Vitae doesn't sit on its own island in this pack. Its recipes link it to other mods in three main ways: items from the animusnv namespace crafted on Neo Vitae's own stations, ore dusts that smelt into other mods' materials, and Neo Vitae items that other mods' machines ask for.[4]
Animus items crafted on Neo Vitae stations
Lots of animusnv items are made with Neo Vitae's own crafting systems. 15 Alchemy Array recipes take animusnv and Neo Vitae items and make animusnv results, such as the Sigil of the Fast Builder, the Sigil of the Phantom Chain and the Sigil of Consumption. Neo Vitae's Tabula slates, for example Tabula Robur and Tabula Animata, are among the ingredients.[4]
One of the Alchemy Array recipes that turns Neo Vitae items into an animusnv sigil.
The Hellfire Forge crafts animusnv gear too: the Sentient Bow, the Sentient Shield, the Sentient Javelin, the Hellforged Bow and the Hand of Death. The Willful Stone recipe there is changed by the pack, and it makes 4 stones per craft. The Ara Vitae crafts the Key of Binding and the Sanguine Diviner.[4]
The Codex Animus (Codex Animus) also has a Neo Vitae link, and the pack adds a second recipe for it next to the mod's own.[4]
This Codex Animus recipe is added by the pack.
Ore processing and other mods' materials
The quest "Alchemy of Ore" quest teaches the basic loop: brew Cutting Fluid in the Tabula Vitae, dissolve an ore into 2 dust, then smelt the dust into an ingot. The pack extends this to materials from other mods. Raw Aluminum, Raw Antimony and Raw Iridium from the pack's materials mod each turn into a Neo Vitae fragment in the Athanor when you use a cutting fluid tool. These Athanor recipes are added by the pack.[3][4]
Athanor (neovitae)
Raw Aluminum
- any cutting fluid athanor tool
Recipe id: neovitae:athanor/cutting_fluids/fragments_from_raw_aluminum
The Raw Aluminum version; the antimony and iridium ones work the same way.
The pack adds smelting and blasting recipes that turn Neo Vitae dusts into finished materials. 11 of them end up as items from the pack's materials mod, including Aluminum Dust into Aluminum Ingot, Antimony Dust into Antimony Ingot and Iridium Dust into Iridium Ingot.[4]
Other dusts turn into items from many different mods:[4]
- Azurite Dust gives Azurite Gem, and Eudialyte Dust gives Eudialyte Gem.[4]
- Xychorium Blue Dust gives Blue Xychorium Gem, and Xychorium Dark Dust gives Dark Xychorium Gem.[4]
- Inferium Dust gives Inferium Essence, and Prosperity Dust gives Prosperity Shard.[4]
- Draconium Dust gives Draconium Ingot, and Mithril Dust gives Mithril Ingot.[4]
- Black Quartz Dust gives Black Quartz, and Dimensional Shard Dust gives Dimensional Shard.[4]
- Lignite Coal Dust gives Lignite Coal, and Replica Dust gives Replica Ingot.[4]
Several of Neo Vitae's own alchemy recipes are changed by the pack to use Coal Dust and Sulfur Dust. This includes the Basic Cutting Fluid you need early on, and the Advanced Cutting Fluid. The pack also gives you a way to make Sulfur Dust yourself: an alchemy table recipe turns a Lava Sigil into 4 of them.[4]

Neo Vitae items inside other mods' machines
The pack also has other mods' machines consume or make Neo Vitae items, so the mod can sit in the middle of a longer progression chain:[4]
- An Oritech particle collision recipe makes 2 Hellforged Ingot from Demon Ingot and Prometheum.[4]
- A Productive Metalworks melting recipe turns Hellforged Dust into 90 Molten Hellforged.[4]
- An Athanor recipe makes the Charm of Myths and consumes 1,000 Essentia Vitae Source along the way.[4]
- Strong Tau is part of an Actually Additions empowering recipe for the Coconut, and Permafrost Core is part of the empowering recipe for Empowered Ice.[4]
- Reagent Growth is part of the Create sequenced assembly recipe for Flashpine, which also needs 1,000 Liquid Chorus.[4]
- A Modern Industrialization quarry recipe added by the pack takes the Sentient Pickaxe and lists ores from Malum and XyCraft as its outputs, such as Soulstone Ore and Red Xychorium Ore.[4]

In the quest book
The Neo Vitae chapter sits in the Magic Mods group and is chapter 20 of 31 in the book. It has 47 quests, and the ore processing quest comes after the Tabula Vitae quest. The text of 27 of those quests isn't covered here, so check the quest book for the rest of the chapter.[3]
Which FTB Skies 2: Aero quests use Neo Vitae?
2 parts
Neo Vitae has its own chapter in the pack's quest book, in the Magic Mods group. A few other chapters touch the mod too.[3]
The Neo Vitae chapter, in order
- "Raise the Ara Vitae" quest starts everything: it asks you to build the Ara Vitae, and says to place it on flat stone where you can reach every side.[3]
- Two quests follow. "Bind a Novicius Orb" quest asks for your first Novicius Orb of Vitae, and a quest in "Neo Vitae" asks for Tabula Rasa.[3]
- "Tier I: The Ring of Runes" quest asks for Blank Rune, and its text says eight runes laid around the altar make it Tier I. "The Apprentice's Orb" quest follows, asking for the Discipulus Orb of Vitae.[3]
- After the Apprentice's Orb the chapter branches. "Tier 2" quest asks for more runes, and its text mentions four pillars. "Tier II: The Magician's Orb" quest asks for the Veneficus Orb of Vitae. In parallel, a quest in "Neo Vitae" asks for the Tabula Vitae, and a quest in "Neo Vitae" asks for the Alchemy Flask.[3]
- The Tabula Vitae quest leads to "Alchemy of Ore" quest (asks for Basic Cutting Fluid), "Throwing Daggers" quest (daggers and Spiritus Essence) and "Circle of Intent" quest (the Arcane Scribe Tool). Circle of Intent leads to "A Sense for Anima" quest and "The Sigil Catalog" quest, where the book says any one sigil will do.[3]
- Throwing Daggers leads to "The Hellfire Forge" quest, which asks for the Hellfire Forge and a Petty Spiritus Gem. After it come "Early Blood Automation" quest, "Laying the Veins" quest (routing nodes) and "Sentient Steel" quest. The routing line continues with a quest in "Neo Vitae" and a quest in "Neo Vitae".[3]
- After Tier II, "Rites and Rituals" quest asks for the items to start a ritual and "The Sentient Shell" quest asks for a Sentient Plate, followed by "Wear It In" quest. After Rites and Rituals comes "Breaching the Veil" quest, then "The Tau Harvest" quest and "The Athanor" quest.[3]
- The Athanor quest leads to "The Crucible's Greed" quest, "Enchantment Salvaging" quest and "The Weak Blood Shard" quest. The Weak Blood Shard quest leads to "Tier III: The Master's Orb" quest, which asks for the Magus Orb of Vitae.[3]
- After Tier III come "Highway to Hell" quest, "The Aura Between Worlds" quest, a quest in "Neo Vitae" and an untitled quest about Sentient armour rituals. Tau Oil leads to "Coaxing Crystals" quest.[3]
- The Spiritus crystal line runs a quest in "Neo Vitae", then a quest in "Neo Vitae". That leads to "The Five Aspects" quest and "Activate the Crystallum Fractura Ritual" quest.[3]
- Highway to Hell leads to "The Foreman" quest, which asks for the Mine Entrance Key. After it come "Demonite" quest, "The Mines" quest and a quest in "Neo Vitae". Demonite leads to a quest in "Neo Vitae", and that leads to "Tier IV: The Archmage's Orb" quest.[3]
- The chapter ends with "Tier V: The Pinnacle" quest, which asks for the Divinus Orb of Vitae and a Crystal Cluster.[3]
Quests in other chapters
The Pina Colada chapter (Main Questline, chapter 6 of 31) pulls in the mod twice. a quest in "Pina Colada" asks for the Tabula Vitae and Reagent Growth to give an artificial pineapple some magical growth. a quest in "Pina Colada" asks for the Hellforged Ingot alongside a Molten Hellfire Bucket, so you need to progress Neo Vitae first.[12]
The same chapter's a quest in "Pina Colada" uses the mod's Tau Fruit to make a coconut, then slicing it into chunks with an Athanor or an Electric Cutting Machine. It comes after the Empowering Crystals quest.[3][12]
In the Bounty Board chapter (Exploration & Combat, chapter 11 of 31), "Kill the Foreman" quest sends you after the Foreman in the Endless Hell. It tells you to progress into Neo Vitae before facing him.[13]
The Gearing Up chapter (Exploration & Combat, chapter 14 of 31) has a quest in "Gearing Up", which asks for Lex Vitae. The text of 17 of that chapter's 94 quests is not shown here, so check the quest book itself for the rest.[14]
The mod is not on the ATM Star quest path.[3]
Which Neo Vitae config options matter?
6 parts
Good news: in this pack, every server option that lists a mod default is set to exactly that default. Nothing below that shows a mod default has been changed from Neo Vitae's stock values, so what you read in the mod's own descriptions applies here as is.[6]
Startup and client
- essentiaLogging is true. It is read before block registration, so changing it needs a full game restart. If another mod's blocks crash the game at startup after Neo Vitae adds its essentia_logged blockstate property to them, set it to false.[11]
- effects.use_simple_effects is false. Switch it to true if you want vanilla-style particles instead of the custom stream and particle effects, which helps performance.[15]
Torment Nexus ritual
These are the options you will most likely tweak if you run the ritual on a big spawner setup. torment_nexus.ev_per_kill is 75 EV per simulated kill, and torment_nexus.max_ev_per_operation caps the total cost of one operation at 8,000 (0 disables the cap). Once that ceiling is hit, the remaining kills run free and still give loot, experience and EV.[6]
- torment_nexus.horizontal_range and torment_nexus.vertical_range are both 5, which scans an 11x11 area on the XZ plane and an 11-block-tall area around the Master Ritual Stone.[6]
- torment_nexus.max_loot_rolls_per_spawner is 5. Extra kills scale up the sampled drops, so total loot stays the same while loot tables run less often. Higher values give more variety at a performance cost.[6]
- torment_nexus.ev_modifier_percent is 100, meaning the EV produced per kill is unchanged.[6]
Blood costs and limits
- sigil_of_necromancy.max_summons_per_player is 10 summons alive at once per player. Setting it to 0 removes the limit.[6]
- The Sanguine Ward needs at least 200 EV to activate (blood_attributes.sanguine_ward_min_ev) and drains 50 EV per second (blood_attributes.sanguine_ward_drain_per_second).[6]
- Blood Shield costs 100 EV per point of damage prevented (blood_attributes.shield_lp_cost_multiplier). Blood Mending costs 100 EV per point of durability restored (blood_mending.repair_cost_per_durability).[6]
- Blood Siphon uses a multiplier of 10 on non-player targets and 100 on players (blood_attributes.siphon_mob_multiplier, blood_attributes.siphon_player_multiplier).[6]
- The Demon Lantern drains 20 EV per second from the bound player's network while running (demon_lantern.upkeep_per_second).[6]
Spiritus and crystals
Each chunk holds a base maximum of 100 of every Spiritus type, for example spiritus.max_raw and spiritus.max_vindicta. A Spiritus Gem spends 200 Spiritus to capture a spawner or trial spawner with sneak + right-click (spiritus.spawner_capture_cost).[6]
For crystals, a new one needs 99 Spiritus (spiritus_crystal.spiritus_to_form), formation in the Crystallizer takes 1,000 ticks (spiritus_crystal.formation_time), and a cluster holds up to 7 segments (spiritus_crystal.max_count). spiritus_crystal.growth_threshold is 200 and is not a minimum: it is a reference saturation for the growth curve. Raise it to slow all crystal growth, lower it to speed growth up.[6]
Experience fluid
liquified_experience.mb_per_point is 20 mB of experience fluid per point of stored experience. liquified_experience.preferred_fluid is empty, so the array uses Neo Vitae's own Liquified Experience. If you want another mod's experience fluid, put its id there and set the mB value to match that mod. Unknown ids fall back to Neo Vitae's fluid.[6]
Other values
The server file also sets default_upgrade_points to 100, evolution_upgrade_points to 300 and self_sacrifice_conversion to 100. The materials file defines materials with fragment, gravel and dust stages, and every entry sets dust_yield_from_ore to 3.[6][10]
What changed in Neo Vitae between versions?
3 parts
FTB Skies 2: Aero 1.10.0 ships Neo Vitae 1.1.21, and the mod has been in the pack since 1.0.3 or earlier. Here are the changes from the mod's own changelogs that matter most to you, oldest first.[2]
1.0.27 to 1.1.2
- 1.0.27: over 170 items were redrawn with new pixel art, and Anointments got their own distinct icons. The Syringe Throwing Dagger now draws blood from creatures it kills and drops Tabula Ampoules.[16]
- 1.1.0: a Spiritus Gem in the Hellfire Forge now draws Spiritus from the surrounding Aura, so the Forge can craft on its own. Decorating an Ara Vitae with torches, soul torches or Blood Lamp lights no longer makes the altar lose a tier.[17]
- 1.1.2: fixed being kicked to the title screen with a connection error when joining a world. Explosions can no longer break the indestructible dungeon blocks.[18]
1.1.6 to 1.1.11
- 1.1.6: fixed the Sunrise and Moonrise arrays, which could never be completed before.[19]
- 1.1.7: Lex Vitae area mining now respects protected blocks and ignores blocks that break instantly. The Torment Nexus can also yield the reward loot from bound trial spawners.[20]
- 1.1.9: Essentia Vitae now soaks into blocks the way water does and keeps farmland hydrated. Liquified Experience arrived, along with an array that moves experience between Tomes of Peritia and a tank. The Ritual of the Overgrowth grows crops about 25% faster.[21]
- 1.1.10: the Spirit Accumulator was added, storing up to 1,000 of a single Aspect. The Omni Routing Node was added too, and its faces can each be set to Input, Output, Both or Off. The Light Array now actually lights a room and can be switched with redstone.[22]
- 1.1.11: the Ritual of Enchanted Vitae was added. It binds every enchantment an item can take from books you throw on the master stone, at 2,000 Essentia Vitae per level bound. The Ritual of the Mason also got far faster and bigger, with its area growing from 5,000 blocks up to 80,000.[23]
1.1.15 to 1.1.21
- 1.1.15: Dusk Ritual Stones became Tenebrae Ritual Stones and Dawn Ritual Stones became Deus Ritual Stones. Existing worlds carry over, and placed stones keep working. Every recipe category now shows in EMI.[24]
- 1.1.18: the Ritual of Sentient Penance lets you take on a downgrade to free Upgrade Points. Two new downgrades were added, Poisoned Blood and Hollow Hunger. Slow Heal was renamed Diseased. The Lex Vitae beam now mines with the selected 3x3 or 5x5 radius.[25]
- 1.1.21: new item tags cover Orbs of Vitae, sigils, ritual tools and more, so backpack and pipe filters can match them. The Lex Vitae's attack damage now scales with your stored spiritus like the Sentient Sword does.[26]
The numbers above are the ones given in the mod's changelogs. The Ritual of Enchanted Vitae can be set to spend the books it reads, but that is off by default.[23]
Unverified Whether this pack changed any of these values or recipes is unverified, because there are no pack changelog entries for Neo Vitae.

lanterns.spawn_suppression Allow Blood and Demon Lanterns to suppress non-monster spawns. Disable to bypass lantern indexing and spawn suppression. Demon Lantern hostile spawning is unaffected. config/neovitae-server.toml | true | not documented |
liquified_experience.preferred_fluid Fluid the array reads and writes, as modid:fluid_id. Leave empty to use Neo Vitae's own Liquified Experience. Set this if another mod in your pack provides the experience fluid you would rather use, for example 'industrialforegoing:essence'. Unknown ids fall back to Neo Vitae's fluid. config/neovitae-server.toml | not documented |
