What is Supplementaries?
1 part
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide
Supplementaries is a Vanilla+ mod that fills in gaps vanilla leaves open. It is highly configurable, and its content is meant to be functional, good-looking and a natural fit next to what the game already has.[1]
It covers a lot of ground: jars, signposts, faucets, weather vanes, spring launchers, sconces, planters and lights. Some of it is pure decoration and some of it is automation, so it suits both builders and tinkerers.[1]
In this pack you get Supplementaries 1.21.1-3.9.6 for NeoForge. The mod needs Moonlight Library to run.[1][2]
Where it fits in the pack
You meet the mod right at the start. The quest a quest in "?" in the "the_beginning" chapter has three tasks: hand in Firestick, hand in Ash, and complete an observation task. It unlocks after the quest 3BF066E5C333F217.[3]
That is the only quest connection the sources show. Beyond this early quest, I haven't confirmed where else the mod fits into the pack's progression.[3]
Unverified Whether this pack changes any Supplementaries recipes, configs or mechanics from the mod's defaults is not confirmed by the sources available for this section.
How do you get started with Supplementaries?
3 parts
Supplementaries is a Vanilla+ mod that adds things like jars, signposts, faucets, sconces, planters and lights. It's highly configurable, so always trust the in-pack recipes shown on this page over any memory of the mod's defaults.[1]
Start with the quest
The pack's quest book gives you your first Supplementaries goal in the_beginning chapter: the quest a quest in "?". Its tasks are Firestick, Ash and an observation task. It unlocks after the quest a quest in "?", so finish that one first.[4]
Turn your first blocks into building pieces
The first Supplementaries building block in the pack's recipes is Ash Bricks, and the related item is Ash Brick. The recipe block below shows the exact in-pack recipe. From the bricks you can make Ash Brick Slab, Ash Brick Stairs and Ash Brick Wall.[5]
This is the in-pack recipe for Ash Bricks.

Slab and wall each have their own recipe that starts from Ash Bricks.
Simple utility items to try early
The quest above only asks for the firestick, Ash and an observation, so none of these are required. Each one has a crafting recipe in the pack, shown below.[4][5]
- Candle Holder: has its own crafting recipe in the pack.[5]
- Bellows: a shaped crafting recipe.[5]
- Bubble Blower: a shaped crafting recipe.[5]
- Altimeter: a shaped crafting recipe.[5]

How does Supplementaries work?
6 parts
Supplementaries is a Vanilla+ mod, so don't expect power grids, fluid pipes or multiblock machines here. The project page describes it as decoration and automation content such as jars, signposts, faucets, weather vanes, spring launchers and sconces. The sources I have don't explain how those blocks work in detail, so this section sticks to what they do confirm: the pack's config values and a few in-game effects.[1]
Capturing mobs in cages and jars
Cages and jars can hold mobs, and a handful of config options decide which ones. With the pack's settings, a tameable mob can only be captured once it is tamed (functional.cage.require_taming is on). The health limit (functional.cage.health_threshold) is 100, which means any health level is accepted.[6]
The wider capture options are all off in this pack. These are capturing every entity (functional.cage.allow_all_mobs, which the config says is not meant for survival), capturing all baby mobs, and auto-detecting small mobs by hitbox size. Captured hostile mobs are also not made persistent, so they can despawn once released (functional.cage.persistent_mobs).[6]
The Jar is also an ingredient in the Boat in a Jar, which uses any vanilla boat.[5]
Cannons
The cannon settings are all at the mod's defaults in this pack. A cannon can fire again after a cooldown of 60. Cannonballs blast blocks in a radius of 1.1 and use a power scaling of 3.5. The config says a cannonball's damage and breaking power are proportional to its energy (speed squared) times that constant. A cannon boat recoils with a multiplier of 0.5 when it fires.[6]
- functional.cannon.cooldown: 60, with an allowed range of 0 to 500.[6]
- functional.cannon.cannonball.break_radius: 1.1. Setting it to 0 disables the block-breaking 'explosion'.[6]
- functional.cannon.cannonball.power_scaling: 3.5. Higher values give cannonballs more energy.[6]
- functional.cannon.cannon_boat.recoil_multiplier: 0.5. Higher values make the cannon boat recoil more.[6]
Bamboo spikes
Bamboo Spikes are set to the alternative mode in this pack (functional.bamboo_spikes.only_allow_harmful_effects is true). In that mode only harmful effects can be applied to them, and they get infinite durability. Mobs killed by spikes do not drop loot as if a player killed them (functional.bamboo_spikes.player_loot is false).[5][6]

Ash
Fire leaves ash behind in this pack. Burnable blocks can create ash layers when they burn, and the chance option is set to 1, the top of its 0.0 to 1.0 range. Burning mobs also drop ash when they die. Rain slowly washes ash layers away. The config says the rarity of basalt ash is tweaked with a datapack.[6]
- building.ash.ash_from_fire_chance: 1[6]
- building.ash.ash_from_burning_mobs: true[6]
- building.ash.rain_wash_ash: true[6]
Building blocks with behaviour
- Awnings can be slanted and bounce entities at an angle of 69.44395478041653 (the mod default). Entities can fall through them while shifting.[6]
- The Blackboard accepts both GUI and manual drawing. You can draw on it directly with any dye, but the GUI only works in black and white.[5][6]
- Timber frames let axes strip the frame and leave the contained block intact. Placing daub in a frame turns it into a wattle and daub block. Placing a frame directly on a block by holding shift is off.[6]
- Flags can use a pole up to 16 blocks long. Right or left clicking a stick lowers or raises a flag attached to it.[6]
- Iron gates do not behave like doors, so they are not redstone-only. Two stacked iron gates can open at once.[6]
- Notice boards still hold only maps and books, and the GUI is enabled. An end crystal on a pedestal gives an enchanting power bonus equal to 3 bookshelves.[6]
- Slidy blocks use a speed of 0.125. Horses that eat a sugar cube get a speed effect lasting 10 seconds.[6]
Effects and enchantments
The mod adds a few effects. Flammable increases the time you stay on fire and spreads fire as you walk. Overencumbered prevents sprinting, and further levels reduce jump height and then walking speed. The Stasis enchantment lets Slingshot projectiles ignore gravity. The Lumisene Fire Aspect and Lumisene Flame enchantments add lumisene fire damage to melee hits and bow arrows.[7]
The mod's advancements also show some utility tools. A Wrench rotates a block, and a Turn Table rotates you.[7]
How do you progress through Supplementaries?
3 parts
The pack's quest data and recipe dump don't lay out a tier ladder for Supplementaries. What they do show is one quest that touches the mod, plus a set of crafting recipes you can use in whatever order suits your base.[4][5]
Where the quest book puts it
The one quest involving the mod is a quest in "?", in the "the_beginning" chapter. It has three tasks: an item task for Firestick, an item task for Ash, and an observation task. It comes after a quest in "?" in the same chapter, so Supplementaries shows up very early in your run.[4]
Building blocks
The Ash Bricks recipe starts the ash building set. Once you have the bricks, the slab, stairs and wall each have their own single-input recipe.[5]
Crafting Shaped
6 × Ash Bricks
Recipe id: supplementaries:ash_brick_stairs
The slab and wall recipes use the same Ash Bricks input.
Blackstone works the same way: Blackstone Tiles has its own recipe, and the slab, stairs and wall are each crafted from those tiles. The Blackstone Lamp has a separate recipe of its own.[5]
Crafting Shaped
4 × Polished Blackstone Bricks

Utility items
The recipe dump also lists crafting recipes for the Altimeter, the Bubble Blower, the Bellows and the Candle Holder.[5]

How does Supplementaries work with other mods?
3 parts
The recipes and quests that link Supplementaries to other mods in this pack are few, and most of them revolve around Flax and Ash.[4][5]
Growing Flax in the Cloche
The pack adds Immersive Engineering Cloche recipes that turn Flax Seeds into Flax. Each recipe pairs the seeds with a different soil, and every one of them was added by the pack.[5]
- Plain Dirt, the simplest option.[5]
- Rich Soil from Farmer's Delight.[5]
- The Just Dire Things soils, from Primogel Soil to Shadowpulse Soil.[5]
- The Mystical Agriculture farmlands, from Inferium Farmland up to Supremium Farmland.[5]
- Insanium Farmland, which has its own Cloche entry too.[5]
The simplest version of the Flax Cloche recipe, added by the pack.
One of the farmland versions, also added by the pack.
Ash and Soulium Dust
Ash is used in a pack-added shapeless crafting recipe for Soulium Dust that also involves Compressed Dust. The exact recipe is shown below.[5]
Crafting Shapeless
Recipe id: ftb:mysticalagriculture/soulium_dust_from_blood_vial
Soulium Dust from a Blood Vial, a recipe added by the pack.
Ash also shows up early in the quest book. Quest a quest in "?" in the "the_beginning" chapter has three tasks: one for the FTB firestick, one for Ash and an observation task.[4]
Planter and Farmer's Delight
Supplementaries ships its own integration recipe for the Planter that makes use of a Farmer's Delight item. It is a recipe from the mod itself, not one added by the pack.[5]
Which FTB Skies 2 quests use Supplementaries?
1 part
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide
In this pack, Supplementaries shows up in the quest book in just one place that I can confirm: the "the_beginning" chapter. It's an early-game chapter, so you'll bump into the mod right at the start of your run.[3]
The_beginning chapter
The quest is a quest in "?", and it has no title in the quest file. It unlocks after you finish a quest in "?", so that one comes first.[3]
It has three tasks:[3]
Unverified The quest file doesn't say what the observation task is watching for, or how the pack expects you to get Ash. Check the in-game quest description for those details.
Which Supplementaries config options matter?
4 parts
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.12.0 guide
Supplementaries is very configurable. The one option the config file flags as changed from the mod default is the red merchant. Everything else below is simply what the pack currently sets. Where the file lists no mod default, I can't tell you whether the pack touched it.[8]
The confirmed change
general.red_merchant_spawn_multiplier is set to 0 in this pack. The mod default is 1. At 0 the red merchant won't spawn at all. If you want him back, raise it. The allowed range is 0.0 to 10.0, and 2 makes him spawn twice as often.[8]
Features the pack has switched off
The file shows these as off, but it doesn't list a mod default for them, so I can't say whether the pack changed them.[8]
- Ash is disabled via building.ash.enabled.[8]
- Road signs are off through building.way_sign.road_signs.enabled, which the file describes as entirely disabling them from spawning.[8]
- The flint block is off via building.flint_block.[8]
- Bottling XP on an enchanting table is off via tweaks.bottle_xp.enabled.[8]
- The suspicious sand and gravel recipes are off via tweaks.sus_recipes.enabled.[8]
- Placeable sticks are off via tweaks.placeable_sticks.sticks, but placeable blaze rods stay on (tweaks.placeable_sticks.blaze_rods).[8]
Jars and cages
Jars hold liquids and cookies here (functional.jar.jar_liquids and functional.jar.jar_cookies are both on). Capturing mobs in jars is off (functional.jar.jar_capture). So is instantly eating or drinking from a placed jar (functional.jar.drink_from_jar) and drinking from jar items (functional.jar.drink_from_jar_item). The liquid capacity in functional.jar.capacity is 12, which matches the mod default.[8]
For cages, functional.cage.require_taming is on, so a tameable mob can only be captured once it's tamed. functional.cage.allow_all_mobs is off.[8]
Tools and weapons
- Bombs break blocks in WEAK mode (tools.bomb.break_blocks). Their explosion radius is 2, the mod default (tools.bomb.explosion_radius).[8]
- The slingshot accepts buckets (tools.slingshot.allow_buckets). Bombs, ender pearls, fire charges, snowballs and splash potions are all turned off for it.[8]
- Quivers have 6 slots and pick up arrows automatically (tools.quiver.slots and tools.quiver.quiver_pickup). You can use them without being slowed (tools.quiver.use_without_slow).[8]
- Cannon settings sit at the mod defaults, for example a cooldown of 60 and a fuse time of 40 (functional.cannon.cooldown and functional.cannon.fuse_time).[8]
