What is FTB Stuff & Things?
1 part
FTB Stuff & Things is a content mod that adds a set of utility blocks and tools, all under the ftbstuff namespace. This pack ships version 21.1.19.[1]
You meet it right at the start of the questbook. Several of its items are quest tasks in the "the_beginning" chapter, so you will be picking them up early in your run.[2]
Where it shows up in the questbook
- "Dripper and More Water" quest asks for the Dripper along with a bowl.[2]
- "Melting Rocks and More" quest asks for the Tempered Glass Jar and a lava bucket. "Jar Automator" quest follows it and asks for the Jar Automater.[2]
- "Don't Strain Yourself" quest accepts a water strainer in any wood type, for example the Oak Water Strainer or the Warped Water Strainer. It also asks for a stone pebble from Create Sifter.[2]
- "The Breakdown" quest asks for cobblestone, gravel, dirt, sand and Dust.[2]
- "Compact Cobble" quest asks for the Stone Cobble Generator. "Auto-Hammers" quest sits alongside it and asks for the Iron Auto-Hammer, Gold Auto-Hammer, Diamond Auto-Hammer and Netherite Auto-Hammer.[2]
The "resources_and_you" chapter also has you collect Crushed Netherrack in "Crushed Netherrack" quest, Crushed Basalt in "Crushed Basalt" quest, and Dust in "Dust" quest.[3]
Unverified The sources only show these items as quest tasks. They do not describe how each one works or how it is crafted in this pack, so check the in-game recipe viewer for exact details. This site does hold FTB Skies 2's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.
How do you get started with FTB Stuff & Things?
6 parts
Welcome in! The early quests in the "the_beginning" chapter lean heavily on FTB Stuff & Things items, so that is where we start. The quests have no titles in the pack data, so I point to each one by its ID. Each quest unlocks after an earlier one, and the sources here do not show which quest is the very first, so follow the chapter in-game for the full order.[2]
Start with the Dripper
"Dripper and More Water" quest asks you to hold a Dripper and a bowl. The Dripper is a regular crafting-table recipe from the mod.[2][4]

Craft a water strainer
"Don't Strain Yourself" quest asks for a water strainer plus a stone pebble. Any wood variant counts, from Acacia through Warped. Every variant uses a Cloth Mesh in its recipe, and Oak is shown here as the example.[2][4]

The other wood types have their own recipes of the same kind in the mod.
Cobble generator and auto-hammers
"Compact Cobble" quest and "Auto-Hammers" quest both unlock after the same earlier quest. The first asks for the Stone Cobble Generator. This pack adds its own recipe for it, and that recipe uses Compressed Cobblestone.[2][4]

The second quest lists the iron, gold, diamond and netherite auto-hammers as separate tasks. Each higher tier recipe builds on the auto-hammer from the tier below.[2][4]

Early resources
Hammers crush materials down to their core components. In this pack, hammering sand or red sand gives you Dust, basalt gives Crushed Basalt, and netherrack gives Crushed Netherrack. The pack adds these recipes, with matching ones for the compressed blocks. In the "resources_and_you" chapter, "Dust" quest, "Crushed Basalt" quest and "Crushed Netherrack" quest check that you hold each of these.[3][4][5]
The pack adds this hammer recipe for turning sand into Dust.
The pack also changes Create's milling recipes for sand, basalt and netherrack, and its crushing recipe for sand, so you have more than one route to these materials.[4]
How does FTB Stuff & Things work?
4 parts
This is a short section, because the sources for this mod only explain a few of its systems. Here is what can be confirmed for this pack, and below that, what I can't confirm yet.[5]
Machines and tools
- The Fusing Machine is described as being used to fuse items together to produce new results.[5]
- The Super Cooler is described as being used to "super"-cool items to produce new results.[5]
- The Wooden Basin works by interaction. The in-game recipe viewer tells you to place a block on top of the basin and then fall or jump on it.[5]
- Hammers crush materials down to their core components, according to their tooltip.[5]
- There is a Pump in the mod. An advancement named for over-winding it warns that you will suffer the consequences, so don't overdo it.[5]
Automation
The Jar Automater has a crafting recipe in the pack, shown below. It uses a Cast Iron Ingot along with vanilla components.[4]

Recipe id: ftbstuff:auto_processing_block
The sources don't describe how it behaves once placed, so check its in-game tooltip before you build around it.[4]
Crafting-side systems
Water strainers come in several wood variants, such as the Acacia Water Strainer, Bamboo Water Strainer, Birch Water Strainer and Cherry Water Strainer. Each one is crafted with a Cloth Mesh, so make that first.[4]

The pack also has compressed blocks in single, double and triple tiers. They are available for cobblestone, dirt, clay and basalt, for example Compressed Cobblestone, Double Compressed Cobblestone and Triple Compressed Cobblestone. You craft each tier up from the one below. Shapeless recipes also let you break a higher tier back down by one step.[4]

What I can't confirm
Unverified The sources don't cover multiblock layouts, power or fluid requirements, item input and output sides, or processing times for the Fusing Machine, Super Cooler and Pump. They also don't explain what the water strainers or the Jar Automater do once placed. The pack has no config files for this mod to check, so treat all of these as unverified until confirmed in-game.
How do you progress through FTB Stuff & Things?
5 parts
The pack's quest book gives FTB Stuff & Things a few short quest chains in the chapter "the_beginning", plus three single resource quests in the chapter "resources_and_you". The quests have no titles in the sources, so I point to each one by what it asks for.[2][3]
Dripper and water strainers
"Dripper and More Water" quest asks you to get a Dripper and a bowl. "Don't Strain Yourself" quest is a separate quest that asks for a water strainer plus a stone pebble from Create Sifter. Any wood type counts, from the Oak Water Strainer to the Warped Water Strainer, so use whichever wood you have.[2]

Dust, crushed basalt and crushed netherrack
"The Breakdown" quest is a basic resources check. It wants cobblestone, gravel, dirt, sand and Dust. In the resources chapter, "Crushed Netherrack" quest asks for Crushed Netherrack, "Crushed Basalt" quest asks for Crushed Basalt and "Dust" quest asks for dust.[2][3]
The pack adds hammer recipes that turn sand and red sand into dust, and basalt and netherrack into their crushed forms. It also changed the Create Sifter milling recipes so that sand gives dust, basalt gives crushed basalt and netherrack gives crushed netherrack. On top of that, the pack added Create crushing recipes that turn compressed basalt and compressed netherrack into their crushed forms.[4]

Compressed blocks
Cobblestone, dirt, clay, sand, red sand, basalt and netherrack each have Compressed, Double Compressed and Triple Compressed items. For basalt, clay, cobblestone and dirt, you can craft each level up from the one below and break it back down with shapeless recipes. The pack's hammer recipes accept the compressed sand, red sand, basalt and netherrack at every level, which is a fast way to stock up on dust and crushed blocks.[4]

Auto-hammers and the cobblestone generator
"Auto-Hammers" quest covers all four auto-hammers: Iron Auto-Hammer, Gold Auto-Hammer, Diamond Auto-Hammer and Netherite Auto-Hammer. They are an upgrade chain. The gold recipe takes the iron auto-hammer, the diamond recipe takes the gold one, and the netherite recipe takes the diamond one. Each step also needs the matching hammer, such as the Gold Hammer.[2][4]

"Compact Cobble" quest asks for the Stone Cobble Generator. It has the same prerequisite quest as the auto-hammer quest, so the two sit side by side in the quest book. The pack adds its own recipe for the generator, and that recipe uses a Compressed Cobblestone.[2][4]

How does FTB Stuff & Things work with other mods?
6 parts
In this pack, FTB Stuff & Things is mostly a starting point. Its raw materials, like Dust, Crushed Netherrack and Crushed Basalt, feed into sifting and Lychee recipes that give you items from other mods. The pack itself adds all the recipes below.[4]
Sifting into other mods' items
The pack adds sifting recipes (the createsifter:sifting type) that take FTB Stuff & Things materials and a mechanical mesh. The mesh you choose decides what drops. Sifting Dust with the Mechanical Cloth Mesh gives Tiny Iron Dust, Salt Dust and Mystical Agriculture's dirt essence, plus bone meal.[4]
Sifting (createsifter)
Recipe id: ftb:sifting/ftbstuff_dust_with_cloth_mesh
Better meshes unlock more. The Mechanical Blazing Mesh on dust can drop Nickel Ingot, Silver Ingot, Uranium Chunk and Industrial Aluminum Dust. The Mechanical Diamond Mesh and Mechanical Gold Mesh on dust give chunks such as Gold Chunk, Nickel Chunk, Silver Chunk and Redstone Chunk.[4]
Sifting (createsifter)
Recipe id: ftb:sifting/ftbstuff_dust_with_blazing_mesh
The Nether-themed materials connect to more mods. Crushed Netherrack sifted with the blazing mesh can drop Black Quartz and Soulium Dust. Crushed Basalt can drop Sulfur Dust and Dirty Netherite Scrap.[4]
Sifting (createsifter)
Recipe id: ftb:sifting/ftbstuff_crushed_netherrack_with_blazing_mesh
The quest book walks you towards these materials. The resources chapter has quests for dust, crushed netherrack and crushed basalt: "Dust" quest, "Crushed Netherrack" quest and "Crushed Basalt" quest.[3]
Cloth mesh conversion
The pack lets you convert between this mod's Cloth Mesh and the Mechanical Cloth Mesh, in both directions. That way the mesh from FTB Stuff & Things works in the pack's sifting recipes.[4]
Grains of Infinity
The pack adds Lychee recipes that connect Grains of Infinity with this mod's materials. Burning is one way: the first recipe below uses Crushed Basalt. Item-exploding is the other: the recipes after it use Compressed Clay, Compressed Cobblestone and Compressed Sand.[4]

You can also make Soulium Dust by crafting. The recipe uses Compressed Dust together with items from Iron's Spells 'n Spellbooks and Supplementaries.[4]
Shapeless (kubejs)
Recipe id: ftb:mysticalagriculture/soulium_dust_from_blood_vial
Creative temperature sources
The creative temperature sources are crafted with Creative Ascension. Each one pairs it with a different heat-related item: the Blue Magma Block for the Superheated source, a lava bucket for the Hot source and blue ice for the Chilled source.[4]

Early quests that mix mods
- "Don't Strain Yourself" quest asks for any of the wooden water strainers from this mod, plus a stone pebble from Create Sifter.[2]
- "Melting Rocks and More" quest asks for the Tempered Glass Jar and a lava bucket. "Jar Automator" quest follows it and asks for the Jar Automater.[2]
- "Dripper and More Water" quest asks for the Dripper and a bowl.[2]
Which FTB Skies 2 quests use FTB Stuff & Things?
2 parts
Quests that involve this mod appear in two chapters: the_beginning and resources_and_you. The quest entries in the pack files have no titles, so the quests below are identified by their IDs. The order comes from each quest's prerequisite, which the files list as "after".[2][3]
Chapter: the_beginning
This chapter is where the mod first shows up. Several quests ask you to hand in the mod's machines and materials as you build your early setup.[2]
- "Dripper and More Water" quest asks for a Dripper and a bowl. It also has one more item task that the source doesn't name. It unlocks after an earlier quest in the chapter.[2]
- "Melting Rocks and More" quest asks for a Tempered Glass Jar and a lava bucket. It also unlocks after an earlier quest.[2]
- "Jar Automator" quest asks for a Jar Automater. It comes right after the Tempered Glass Jar and lava bucket quest above.[2]
- "Don't Strain Yourself" quest asks for a water strainer. Any wood variant counts, from Oak Water Strainer and Spruce Water Strainer to Crimson Water Strainer and Warped Water Strainer. It also asks for the createsifter:stone_pebble item.[2]
- "The Breakdown" quest is a collection quest: cobblestone, gravel, dirt, sand and Dust, plus one more item the source doesn't name.[2]
- "Compact Cobble" quest asks for a Stone Cobble Generator.[2]
- "Auto-Hammers" quest lists the Iron Auto-Hammer, Gold Auto-Hammer, Diamond Auto-Hammer and Netherite Auto-Hammer as its tasks.[2]
The Stone Cobble Generator quest and the Auto-Hammer quest both unlock after the same earlier quest. That means they are two parallel branches, and you can do them in either order.[2]
Chapter: resources_and_you
This chapter has three simple quests, each asking for one item from the mod: Crushed Netherrack in "Crushed Netherrack" quest, Crushed Basalt in "Crushed Basalt" quest, and Dust in "Dust" quest. The files list no prerequisites for any of them, so you can pick them up in any order.[3]
Unverified The files don't show where each quest sits on the quest map, and some prerequisite quests are outside the data available here. The exact on-screen order and any rewards are unconfirmed.
