What is Supplementaries?
1 part
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide
Supplementaries is a Vanilla+ mod that fills in gaps vanilla leaves open. It is highly configurable, and its content is meant to be functional, good-looking and a natural fit next to what the game already has.[1]
It covers a lot of ground: jars, signposts, faucets, weather vanes, spring launchers, sconces, planters and lights. Some of it is pure decoration and some of it is automation, so it suits both builders and tinkerers.[1]
In this pack you get Supplementaries 1.21.1-3.9.6 for NeoForge. The mod needs Moonlight Library to run.[1][2]
Where it fits in the pack
You meet the mod right at the start. The quest a quest in "?" in the "the_beginning" chapter has three tasks: hand in Firestick, hand in Ash, and complete an observation task. It unlocks after the quest 3BF066E5C333F217.[3]
That is the only quest connection the sources show. Beyond this early quest, I haven't confirmed where else the mod fits into the pack's progression.[3]
Unverified Whether this pack changes any Supplementaries recipes, configs or mechanics from the mod's defaults is not confirmed by the sources available for this section.
How do you get started with Supplementaries?
2 parts
Supplementaries is a Vanilla+ mod that adds jars, signposts, faucets, sconces, planters, lights, decoration and automation. In this pack, every Supplementaries recipe I can see has been changed by the pack, so don't rely on what you remember from other modpacks. Always check the recipe shown here.[1][4]
Your first Supplementaries item: Ash
The mod first shows up in the opening questline. The quest a quest in "?" in the Beginning chapter has three tasks: hand in a Firestick, hand in Ash, and complete an observation task. It unlocks after an earlier quest in the same chapter.[5]
Easy crafts to try next
The sources don't set a required order for crafting Supplementaries items, so treat these as sensible starting points rather than a fixed path. Each one is a short in-pack recipe. First up is Ash Bricks, a building block that also has slab, stair and wall versions.[4]
The Altimeter is a quick utility item to make.[4]
For lighting and decoration, try the Candle Holder.[4]

How does Supplementaries work?
7 parts
Supplementaries is mostly a decoration-and-utility mod, so there are no power networks or big multiblock machines to learn. Its systems are mainly blocks with rules, and most of those rules live in one config file. Here is what the pack's config and recipes tell us, so you can predict how things behave before you build.[1][6]
Cannons
The cannon has a firing cooldown, set by functional.cannon.cooldown to 60, which is also the mod default. It is the time before the cannon can fire again, and the config accepts values from 0 to 500.[6]
Cannonball damage and block-breaking power are proportional to the ball's energy (its speed squared) times a constant. That constant is functional.cannon.cannonball.power_scaling, set to 3.5 here. When a cannonball hits a block it causes a small explosion with a radius of 1.1, controlled by functional.cannon.cannonball.break_radius. Setting that to 0 disables the explosion.[6]
If you mount a cannon on a boat, functional.cannon.cannon_boat.recoil_multiplier decides how hard the boat is pushed back when you fire. It is 0.5 here, the mod default, and higher values mean more recoil.[6]
Capturing mobs with cages and jars
Cages and jars follow a set of capture rules. In this pack, mobs that can be tamed can only be captured once they are tamed, because functional.cage.require_taming is on. Capturing every entity (functional.cage.allow_all_mobs) is off, and the config says that option is not meant for survival. Allowing all baby mobs (functional.cage.cage_allow_all_babies) and auto-detecting small mobs by hitbox size (functional.cage.cage_auto_detect) are also off.[6]
functional.cage.health_threshold sets the health percentage a mob must be under to be captured. It is 100, so any health level is accepted. Hostile mobs you capture are not forced to be persistent, since functional.cage.persistent_mobs is off. That means they can despawn after release.[6]
The Jar also feeds a crafting recipe. A jar plus any boat makes a Boat in a Jar.[4]
Bamboo spikes
Bamboo Spikes can carry effects. In this pack, functional.bamboo_spikes.only_allow_harmful_effects is on. That alternative mode only lets harmful effects be applied to them, and in return they get infinite durability. Mobs killed by spikes do not drop loot as if a player killed them, because functional.bamboo_spikes.player_loot is off.[6]

Ash, awnings and other block behavior
- Ash: burning mobs drop ash when they die (building.ash.ash_from_burning_mobs). Burnable blocks can leave ash layers behind, with a chance set by building.ash.ash_from_fire_chance, currently 1. Rain washes ash away over time (building.ash.rain_wash_ash).[6]
- Awnings: slanted awnings are allowed (building.awning.slant) and bounce entities at the angle set by building.awning.angle, which the pack leaves at the mod default of 69.44395478041653. Entities can fall through them while shifting (building.awning.shift_through).[6]
- Blackboards: you can interact through both the GUI and by hand (building.blackboard.interaction_mode is BOTH). With building.blackboard.colored_blackboard on, you can draw directly on a blackboard with any dye, but the GUI still only works in black and white.[6]
- Flags: the maximum pole length is 16 (building.flag.pole_length). Clicking a stick with a flag attached lowers or raises the flag (building.flag.stick_pole).[6]
- Pedestals: an end crystal placed on a pedestal gives an enchanting power bonus equal to 3 bookshelves (building.pedestal.crystal_enchanting).[6]
- Iron gates: two iron gates stacked on top of each other can open at the same time (building.iron_gate.double_opening). They do not behave like iron doors, so they are not redstone-only (building.iron_gate.door-like_gates is false).[6]
- Notice boards: they hold a single item and, with building.notice_board.allow_any_item off, only accept maps and books.[6]
- Planters: if Farmers Delight is installed, planters also act like rich soil (building.planter.rich_soil_planter).[6]
- Timber frames: axes can strip a frame and leave the contained block intact (building.timber_frame.axes_strip). Placing daub in a frame turns it into wattle and daub (building.timber_frame.replace_daub).[6]
Crafted utility items
A few functional items have recipes you can check directly. The Bellows is one of them.[4]
The Altimeter and the Bubble Blower are crafted like this in the pack.[4]

Effects, enchantments and tools
The mod adds a few status effects and enchantments. Flammable lengthens your time on fire and spreads fire as you walk. Overencumbered prevents sprinting, and further levels reduce jump height and walking speed. The Stasis enchantment lets slingshot projectiles ignore gravity. The mod also has a Wrench for rotating blocks and a Turn Table for rotating yourself.[7]
World spawns
The pack changed general.red_merchant_spawn_multiplier to 0, while the mod default is 1. At 0 the red merchant won't spawn, so you won't find one in this pack. Road signs are also turned off in this config: building.way_sign.road_signs.enabled is false and entirely disables them from spawning.[6]
How do you progress through Supplementaries?
2 parts
Supplementaries doesn't have a tier ladder in this pack. Nothing in the quest book or the recipe dump sorts its items into stages, so I won't invent one. What the pack does give us is one quest that touches the mod, plus a set of recipes that the pack has rewritten.[4][5]
The quest that touches the mod
The only quest I can confirm is a quest in "?" in The Beginning chapter. It has no title in the quest book and unlocks after another quest in that chapter. It has three tasks: hand in a Firestick, hand in some Ash, and complete an observation task.[5]
Ash is the one Supplementaries item this quest asks for, so it's your first reason to pay attention to the mod. The sources don't say how you're meant to get the ash, so check the item's recipe or usage info in-game.[5]
Unverified What the observation task asks you to look at, and what the quest rewards, are not shown in the available quest data.
Recipes are pack-defined
Every Supplementaries recipe visible in the pack's recipe dump is marked as changed by the pack. That covers the awnings, buntings, candle holders, blackstone tiles and the other recipes shown. Don't rely on what you remember from the mod's default recipes. Use the in-game recipe viewer or the recipe blocks on this wiki.[4]
Here are a few examples of how the pack crafts things. The Altimeter is a single recipe:[4]
The ash building blocks chain together. Ash Brick is crafted into Ash Bricks, and those bricks are then crafted into slabs, stairs and walls:[4]
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: supplementaries:ash_brick_slab
Candle holders follow a similar pattern. The base Candle Holder has its own recipe, and the coloured versions can be made either from a matching candle or by dyeing a plain holder:[4]
Crafting Shaped

| Empty slot | any iron ingot | Empty slot |
Recipe id: supplementaries:candle_holders/candle_holder
Unverified The recipe for Ash Brick itself isn't in the visible part of the recipe dump, so I can't say how you get from ash to ash bricks in this pack.
How does Supplementaries work with other mods?
4 parts
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide
The pack ties a few Supplementaries items into other mods. Flax and the Planter appear in recipes that use other mods' items, Ash is an ingredient in a Mystical Agriculture recipe, and Ash is also a task in an early quest.[3][8]
Growing Flax in an Immersive Engineering Cloche
In this pack you grow Flax in the Immersive Engineering cloche. The pack adds these recipes itself. Each one takes Flax Seeds from Silent Gear plus a soil, and the soil can come from several different mods.[8]
The simplest version of the pack's cloche recipe uses plain dirt.
Besides Dirt, the pack adds cloche recipes for these soils:[8]
- Just Dire Things: Primogel Soil, Blazebloom Soil, VoidShimmer Soil and Shadowpulse Soil.[8]
- Mystical Agriculture: Inferium Farmland, Prudentium Farmland, Tertium Farmland, Imperium Farmland and Supremium Farmland.[8]
- Mystical Agradditions: Insanium Farmland.[8]
- Farmer's Delight: Rich Soil.[8]
Planter with Farmer's Delight Rich Soil
The Planter has an integration recipe built around Farmer's Delight's Rich Soil. The pack changed this recipe, so don't rely on the mod's default version.[8]

This is the pack's changed version of the Planter recipe.
Ash and Soulium Dust
Ash also feeds into Mystical Agriculture. A shapeless recipe added by the pack makes Soulium Dust from Compressed Dust, an Iron's Spellbooks Blood Vial and Ash.[8]

Ash in the quest book
Ash is one of the tasks in a quest in "?", a quest in the Beginning chapter. It sits alongside a firestick item task and an observation task, and it comes after the quest 3BF066E5C333F217.[3]
Which FTB Skies 2 quests use Supplementaries?
1 part
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide
In this pack, Supplementaries shows up in the quest book in just one place that I can confirm: the "the_beginning" chapter. It's an early-game chapter, so you'll bump into the mod right at the start of your run.[3]
The_beginning chapter
The quest is a quest in "?", and it has no title in the quest file. It unlocks after you finish a quest in "?", so that one comes first.[3]
It has three tasks:[3]
Unverified The quest file doesn't say what the observation task is watching for, or how the pack expects you to get Ash. Check the in-game quest description for those details.
Which Supplementaries config options matter?
4 parts
Supplementaries is very configurable. The one option the config file flags as changed from the mod default is the red merchant. Everything else below is simply what the pack currently sets. Where the file lists no mod default, I can't tell you whether the pack touched it.[6]
The confirmed change
general.red_merchant_spawn_multiplier is set to 0 in this pack. The mod default is 1. At 0 the red merchant won't spawn at all. If you want him back, raise it. The allowed range is 0.0 to 10.0, and 2 makes him spawn twice as often.[6]
Features the pack has switched off
The file shows these as off, but it doesn't list a mod default for them, so I can't say whether the pack changed them.[6]
- Ash is disabled via building.ash.enabled.[6]
- Road signs are off through building.way_sign.road_signs.enabled, which the file describes as entirely disabling them from spawning.[6]
- The flint block is off via building.flint_block.[6]
- Bottling XP on an enchanting table is off via tweaks.bottle_xp.enabled.[6]
- The suspicious sand and gravel recipes are off via tweaks.sus_recipes.enabled.[6]
- Placeable sticks are off via tweaks.placeable_sticks.sticks, but placeable blaze rods stay on (tweaks.placeable_sticks.blaze_rods).[6]
Jars and cages
Jars hold liquids and cookies here (functional.jar.jar_liquids and functional.jar.jar_cookies are both on). Capturing mobs in jars is off (functional.jar.jar_capture). So is instantly eating or drinking from a placed jar (functional.jar.drink_from_jar) and drinking from jar items (functional.jar.drink_from_jar_item). The liquid capacity in functional.jar.capacity is 12, which matches the mod default.[6]
For cages, functional.cage.require_taming is on, so a tameable mob can only be captured once it's tamed. functional.cage.allow_all_mobs is off.[6]
Tools and weapons
- Bombs break blocks in WEAK mode (tools.bomb.break_blocks). Their explosion radius is 2, the mod default (tools.bomb.explosion_radius).[6]
- The slingshot accepts buckets (tools.slingshot.allow_buckets). Bombs, ender pearls, fire charges, snowballs and splash potions are all turned off for it.[6]
- Quivers have 6 slots and pick up arrows automatically (tools.quiver.slots and tools.quiver.quiver_pickup). You can use them without being slowed (tools.quiver.use_without_slow).[6]
- Cannon settings sit at the mod defaults, for example a cooldown of 60 and a fuse time of 40 (functional.cannon.cooldown and functional.cannon.fuse_time).[6]
What changed in Supplementaries between versions?
4 parts
FTB Skies 2 1.12.0 ships Supplementaries 1.21-3.3.5, and the mod has been in the pack since 1.0.1 or earlier. Below are the notable changes from the mod's own changelogs, newest first, so you can see what is in the version you are playing.[9]
1.21-3.3.5 (the version in this pack)
- The logic for the cannon and the present shooting TNT was improved, and a tag was added for modded TNTs.[10]
- Fixed sacks not saving their data to the item correctly.[10]
1.21-3.3.4
- Fixed the slime overlay not working.[11]
- You can now wash the wither out of a skeleton.[11]
- You can now damage slimes with soap.[11]
1.21-3.3.3
- Mob head shaders are now data driven.[12]
- Fixed compatibility with Alex's Caves nukes.[12]
- Added a config option that makes cannon projectiles ignite on impact, like TNT.[12]
- Fixed soap cleaning extended sticky pistons.[12]
1.21-3.3.0
- Added Cannon Boat AI for pillagers.[13]
I only have changelogs for these four mod versions, so changes in other releases are not covered here. I also have no pack changelog entries for this mod, so I can't say whether the pack changed any of its values.[9][10][11][12][13]
