What is Simple Magnets?
3 parts
Simple Magnets adds magnets that pull items and experience toward you, so you stop chasing drops around your base. Magnets can use a whitelist or blacklist, reach up to 11 blocks, and work in Baubles or Curios slots. You can also toggle them with a key bind.[1]
What you get
- Basic Magnet: picks up items and experience within a 5 block range of you.[1]
- Advanced Magnet: picks up items and experience within a configurable range, up to 11 blocks. You can set the item range and the experience range separately and filter items with a whitelist or blacklist.[1]
- Demagnetization Coil: stops items from being attracted by magnets. Its effective area can be adjusted up to 3 blocks away.[1]
- Advanced Demagnetization Coil: does the same job with an area of up to 5 blocks, and it can filter items.[1]
Using the magnets
Select a magnet in your hotbar and right-click to turn it on or off. To open the Advanced Magnet's GUI, shift-right-click with it. To filter, click a filter slot with the item you want, then choose whitelist or blacklist and whether it should match NBT data.[1]
To open a Demagnetization Coil's GUI, look at the placed coil with an empty hand and right-click it.[1]
In this pack
The pack ships Simple Magnets 1.1.11+b for NeoForge on Minecraft 1.21. It has been in the pack since version 0.32 or earlier.[2]
Unverified The sources here do not show a quest book chapter, group or position for this mod, or whether the ATM Star path uses it. Check the pack's in-game quest book for that.
How do you get started with Simple Magnets?
3 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 4.5 guide
Simple Magnets is all about not chasing drops around. Magnets pull in items and experience around you. The path is short: one magnet, one upgrade, and an optional way to stop magnets grabbing things you want left alone.[1]
Step 1: Make a Basic Magnet
Start with the Basicmagnet. It picks up items and experience within 5 blocks of you. The pack's quest book also has a quest in the tips_and_tricks chapter, a quest in "?", whose task is this magnet.[1][3]

To turn it on and off, select the magnet in your hotbar and right-click with it. The mod page also says magnets can go in Baubles or Curios slots and be toggled with a key bind.[1]
Step 2: Upgrade to the Advanced Magnet
Once you have spare resources, build the Advancedmagnet. Its recipe uses the Basic Magnet as an ingredient, and it reaches up to 11 blocks. You can set the range for items and for experience separately, and you can filter items.[1][4]

To open its GUI, select it in your hotbar and Shift-Right-Click. To set up a filter, follow these steps:[1]
- Open the Advanced Magnet's GUI.[1]
- Click a filter slot with the item you want to filter.[1]
- Switch the filter between whitelist and blacklist.[1]
- Choose whether the filter matches NBT data or not.[1]
Step 3 (optional): Demagnetization Coils
If a magnet keeps grabbing things you want to stay put, use a coil. The Basic Demagnetization Coil stops items from being attracted by magnets, and its area can be adjusted up to 3 blocks away.[1][5]

How does Simple Magnets work?
5 parts
Simple Magnets is a small mod with a clear job: magnets pull items and experience toward you, and demagnetization coils stop that from happening in a chosen area. The sources describe no power, fluid or multiblock systems for it, so everything here is about ranges, filters and toggling.[1][5]
Magnets
The Basicmagnet picks up items and experience around you when it is switched on. In this pack its range is 5 blocks, set by General.basicMagnetRange.[1][5][6]
The Advancedmagnet does the same job with an adjustable range and item filtering. The pack's config gives it a default range of 8 blocks (General.advancedMagnetRange), a minimum of 3 (General.advancedMagnetMinRange) and a maximum of 11 (General.advancedMagnetMaxRange). The mod page also says item and experience ranges can be set individually on this magnet.[1][5][6]

Using a magnet
- Turn a magnet on or off: select it in your hotbar and right-click with it.[1]
- Open the Advanced Magnet's GUI: select it in your hotbar and shift-right-click.[1]
- Magnets also work in Baubles or Curios slots, and they can be toggled with a key bind.[1]
Filtering items
Only the Advanced Magnet filters items on the magnet side. The mod page describes the setup like this:[1][5]
- Open the Advanced Magnet's GUI.[1]
- Click one of the filter slots while holding the item you want to filter.[1]
- Set the filter to whitelist or blacklist.[1]
- Choose whether the filter should match NBT data or not.[1]
Demagnetization coils
Coils are placed blocks that stop magnets from attracting items within their area. They are handy for keeping a farm's drops or a sorting area from being vacuumed up by your magnet.[1][5]
The Basic Demagnetization Coil has no filter in this pack ([[config:config/simplemagnets-common.toml#General.Demagnetization Coils.basicCoilFilter]] is false). Its range defaults to 2 blocks ([[config:config/simplemagnets-common.toml#General.Demagnetization Coils.basicCoilRange]]) and can be adjusted between 1 ([[config:config/simplemagnets-common.toml#General.Demagnetization Coils.basicCoilMinRange]]) and 3 ([[config:config/simplemagnets-common.toml#General.Demagnetization Coils.basicCoilMaxRange]]).[1][5][6]
The Advanced Demagnetization Coil can filter items in this pack ([[config:config/simplemagnets-common.toml#General.Demagnetization Coils.advancedCoilFilter]] is true). Its range defaults to 3 blocks ([[config:config/simplemagnets-common.toml#General.Demagnetization Coils.advancedCoilRange]]) and can be adjusted between 1 ([[config:config/simplemagnets-common.toml#General.Demagnetization Coils.advancedCoilMinRange]]) and 5 ([[config:config/simplemagnets-common.toml#General.Demagnetization Coils.advancedCoilMaxRange]]).[1][5][6]

Client options
Three client settings control feedback, and all are enabled in this pack. Client.playToggleSound plays a ding when a magnet is turned on or off. Client.showToggleMessage shows an on-screen message for the same event. Client.showDemagnetizationArea highlights a coil's range when you look at it.[6]
How do you progress through Simple Magnets?
4 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 1.26 guide
Simple Magnets has two tiers of magnet and two tiers of demagnetization coil in this pack. Each advanced item is crafted from its basic version, so you always build the basic one first.[7]
Tier 1: Basic Magnet
The Basicmagnet is your entry point. Its recipe is a mod recipe, with no pack-specific changes shown in the recipe dump. It uses common tag ingredients (redstone dust, ender pearls, lapis and iron ingots), so any mod's version of those items should work.[7]

Tier 2: Advanced Magnet
The Advancedmagnet is the upgrade. Your finished Basicmagnet is one of the crafting ingredients, so don't use it up elsewhere. The recipe also asks for materials from further along than the basic tier, including an Eye of Ender and a diamond-tag gem.[7]

Demagnetization coils
The coils follow the same pattern. The Basic Demagnetization Coil is the first tier, and the Advanced Demagnetization Coil is crafted from it.[7]

Quests
Unverified No quests in this pack are known to involve Simple Magnets, so there is no quest-guided path for this mod. The recipes above are the progression order.
How does Simple Magnets work with other mods?
1 part
Same as in the All the Mods 10 4.5 guide
Simple Magnets has one recipe link to another mod in this pack, and it goes into Mekanism. The pack adds a custom shaped crafting recipe for the Module Magnetic Attraction Unit, and the Basicmagnet from Simple Magnets is one of its ingredients.[4]

Quests
The only quest in the sources that involves Simple Magnets is a quest in "?" in the tips_and_tricks chapter. Its task is the Basicmagnet. It only involves the Simple Magnets item, so it does not connect to another mod.[3]
Which Simple Magnets config options matter?
3 parts
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide
Good news: Simple Magnets has just one config file, and in this pack every value in it is the mod's default. The pack changed nothing here, so you get the stock behavior. Here are the options you're most likely to touch, with the exact values the pack uses.[8]
Magnet ranges
- General.basicMagnetRange is 5, the pickup range for items and XP with the Basic Magnet. The allowed range is 1 to 20.[8]
- General.advancedMagnetRange is 8. This is the Advanced Magnet's default pickup range for items and XP.[8]
- General.advancedMagnetMinRange is 3 and General.advancedMagnetMaxRange is 11. These set the limits you can adjust the Advanced Magnet between. Both accept values from 1 to 20.[8]
Demagnetization coils
Coils stop items from being pulled in by magnets. Their ranges and filtering are configurable, and the allowed range for all coil range options is 1 to 10.[1][8]
- Basic coil: [[config:config/simplemagnets-common.toml#General.Demagnetization Coils.basicCoilRange]] is 2, with a minimum of 1 ([[config:config/simplemagnets-common.toml#General.Demagnetization Coils.basicCoilMinRange]]) and a maximum of 3 ([[config:config/simplemagnets-common.toml#General.Demagnetization Coils.basicCoilMaxRange]]).[8]
- Advanced coil: [[config:config/simplemagnets-common.toml#General.Demagnetization Coils.advancedCoilRange]] is 3, with a minimum of 1 ([[config:config/simplemagnets-common.toml#General.Demagnetization Coils.advancedCoilMinRange]]) and a maximum of 5 ([[config:config/simplemagnets-common.toml#General.Demagnetization Coils.advancedCoilMaxRange]]).[8]
- [[config:config/simplemagnets-common.toml#General.Demagnetization Coils.basicCoilFilter]] is false, so the Basic coil can't filter items. [[config:config/simplemagnets-common.toml#General.Demagnetization Coils.advancedCoilFilter]] is true, so the Advanced coil can.[1][8]
Client options
These are all quality-of-life toggles, and all of them are true in this pack. Switch any of them to false if it bugs you.[8]
- Client.playToggleSound plays a ding when you turn a magnet on or off.[8]
- Client.showToggleMessage shows an on-screen message when you toggle a magnet.[8]
- Client.showDemagnetizationArea highlights a Demagnetization Coil's range when you look at it, which is handy for placing coils.[8]
What changed in Simple Magnets between versions?
All the Mods 10 0.51 ships Simple Magnets 1.1.11b for NeoForge on Minecraft 1.21. The mod has been in the pack since 0.32 or earlier. The sources have no pack changelog entries for this mod, so the history below comes from the mod's own changelogs.[2]
- 1.1.11: the initial release of Simple Magnets for Minecraft 1.21.[9][10]
- 1.1.11a: fixed a crash on startup.[9][10]
- 1.1.11b: fixed magnets not going in Curios slots. This is the version in the pack now.[2][9]
If you carry your magnet in a Curios slot, you already have the fix from 1.1.11b.[2][9]
