What is Simple Magnets?
3 parts
Simple Magnets does exactly what the name says: it adds magnets that pull nearby items and experience straight to you. No more chasing drops that fell just out of reach while you were breaking blocks![1][2]
All the Mods 10 5.5 ships Simple Magnets 1.1.12+c, and the mod has been in the pack since version 2.25 or earlier.[3]
What's in the mod
- The Basicmagnet picks up items and experience within a 5 block range of you.[1]
- The Advanced Magnet has a configurable range of up to 11 blocks, with separate range settings for items and experience. It can also filter items with a whitelist or blacklist, and you open its menu with Shift-Right-Click.[1]
- The Demagnetization Coil stops magnets from attracting items within an adjustable area of up to 3 blocks.[1]
- The Advanced Demagnetization Coil works the same way with an area of up to 5 blocks, and it can filter which items it affects.[1]
Who it's for
If you break a lot of blocks, a magnet is a big quality-of-life boost. Right-Click while holding it to turn it on, and Right-Click again to turn it off. You can also toggle it with a key bind, and you can equip it in a Curios slot to keep using it.[1][2]
Where it fits in the pack
Magnets show up in the "Tips and Tricks" quest chapter. The "Simple Magnets" quest quest asks you to obtain a Basic Magnet, and its description mentions that the magnet can be upgraded to increase its range.[2]
How do you get started with Simple Magnets?
4 parts
Simple Magnets does exactly what the name says: it adds magnets that pull items and experience toward you. In All the Mods 10 you'll probably want one early, because it saves a ton of running around after drops. Here's the order I'd make things in.[1][4]
Step 1: Craft a Basic Magnet
Your first craft is the Basicmagnet. It's the item for the "Simple Magnets" quest quest in the Tips and Tricks chapter, so making it also ticks off that quest. When it's switched on, it pulls dropped items and blocks within a 5 block radius to you, so no more chasing blocks that fell just out of reach.[2]

Your first magnet and the item for the Simple Magnets quest.
The Basic Magnet picks up experience as well as items, which is handy while you're mining and fighting.[1][4]
Step 2: Turn it on and put it in a Curios slot
- Select the magnet in your hotbar and right-click to turn it on. Right-click again whenever you want to turn it off.[1][2]
- Put the magnet in a Curios slot so it keeps working without taking up space in your hotbar.[1][2]
- You can also toggle the magnet with a key bind, which is quicker once it's tucked away in a Curios slot.[1]
Step 3: Upgrade to the Advanced Magnet
The Basic Magnet can be upgraded to get more range. The Advancedmagnet has a configurable range of up to 11 blocks, and you can set the range for items and experience separately.[1][2]

The range upgrade for your magnet.
The other big upgrade is filtering. Shift-right-click with the Advanced Magnet to open its GUI. Click a filter slot with the item you want, then choose whitelist or blacklist, and choose whether the filter matches NBT data. This way you can keep the magnet on and still ignore junk items.[1][4]
Step 4: Demagnetization Coils for your base
Once you have storage, farms or machines that drop items, you'll want a Basic Demagnetization Coil. It stops items near it from being pulled in by magnets, with an effective area you can adjust up to 3 blocks away. To open its GUI, look at the coil with an empty hand and right-click it.[1]

The Advanced Demagnetization Coil increases that area to up to 5 blocks away and adds item filtering.[1][4]

How does Simple Magnets work?
4 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide
Simple Magnets adds magnets that pull dropped items and experience to you, plus demagnetization coils that stop that from happening in an area. Here is how each part works.[1]
Magnets
Both magnets pick up items and experience around the player. The Basicmagnet has a range of 5 blocks. The Advancedmagnet reaches up to 11 blocks and is configurable.[1][4][5]
With the Advanced Magnet you can set the range for items and for experience separately. You can also filter which items it picks up using a whitelist or a blacklist.[1][4]
Magnets also work in Baubles or Curios slots, and you can toggle them with a key bind, so you don't have to keep one in your hand.[1]

The Advanced Magnet is also a shaped crafting recipe, and it uses the Basic Magnet in the pack.
Using a magnet
- To turn a magnet on or off, select it in your hotbar and right-click with it.[1]
- To open the Advanced Magnet's GUI, select it in your hotbar and shift-right-click with it.[1]
Filtering items
Filtering is done in the Advanced Magnet's GUI. Follow these steps:[1]
- Open the Advanced Magnet's GUI.[1]
- Click one of the filter slots while holding the item you want to filter.[1]
- Set the filter to whitelist or blacklist.[1]
- Choose whether the filter should match NBT data or not.[1]
Demagnetization coils
Demagnetization coils do the opposite job of magnets: they prevent items near them from being attracted by magnets. The Basic Demagnetization Coil can be adjusted to cover up to 3 blocks away.[1][4][5]
The Advanced Demagnetization Coil covers up to 5 blocks away and can also filter items.[1][4][5]
To open a coil's GUI, look at the coil with an empty hand and right-click it.[1]

How do you progress through Simple Magnets?
4 parts
Simple Magnets has a short, clean progression in this pack: a basic magnet to start, an advanced magnet as the upgrade, and a matching pair of demagnetization coils. Every item uses the mod's own crafting recipes, so there are no pack-specific changes to plan around.[6]
Step one: the Basic Magnet
Your starting point is the Basicmagnet. It's the item the pack's quests ask for, so crafting it is how you complete the "Simple Magnets" quest quest in the Tips and Tricks chapter.[2]
Crafting Shaped
| any iron ingot | any iron ingot | any lapi gems |

Using it is simple. Right-click while holding the magnet to switch it on, and every dropped item and block within a 5 block radius flies straight to you. No more watching drops tumble just out of reach while you're mining or chopping![2]
- Right-click with the magnet to turn it on, and right-click again to turn it off.[2]
- You can equip the magnet in a Curios slot, so it keeps working without taking up your hand.[2]
- The quest itself notes that the magnet can be upgraded to increase its range.[2]
Step two: the Advanced Magnet
The next tier is the Advancedmagnet. Its recipe takes your basic magnet as one of the ingredients, so you're upgrading the magnet you already have rather than building a second one from scratch. Gather your materials before you commit your basic magnet to the crafting grid.[6]

Demagnetization coils
Alongside the magnets, the mod has two demagnetization coils that follow the same two-tier pattern. You craft the Basic Demagnetization Coil first, and its recipe then feeds into the Advanced Demagnetization Coil.[6]

Unverified What the demagnetization coils do in practice, their range, and how they interact with your magnet are not described in the pack's quests or files, and no quest covers them.
Suggested order
- Craft the Basic Magnet and turn in the Simple Magnets quest in the Tips and Tricks chapter.[2][6]
- Put the magnet in a Curios slot so it works hands-free while you explore and mine.[2]
- When you're ready for more range, craft the Advanced Magnet using your Basic Magnet.[2][6]
- If you need them, craft the Basic Demagnetization Coil and then upgrade it into the Advanced Demagnetization Coil.[6]
How does Simple Magnets work with other mods?
3 parts
Simple Magnets is a small mod, but the pack ties it into a bigger tech mod: your Basicmagnet becomes a crafting component for Mekanism gear. If you're working toward Mekanism modules, keep a spare magnet around.[6]
Mekanism: Magnetic Attraction Unit
The pack adds its own custom recipe for Mekanism's Module Magnetic Attraction Unit, and a Basicmagnet is one of its ingredients. The recipe also needs Mekanism parts like the Module Base, Elite Control Circuit and Reinforced Alloy, plus some storage blocks. The recipe viewer below shows the exact layout.[6]

Unverified The sources don't say what the Magnetic Attraction Unit does once it's installed, or which Mekanism gear accepts it. Check Mekanism's in-game tooltips to find out.
Curios slots
You don't have to hold your magnet in your hand to use it. You can equip it in a Curios slot and it keeps pulling in items. This frees up a hotbar slot while you're mining or building.[1][2]
Quest
The "Simple Magnets" quest quest in the Tips and Tricks chapter asks you to get a Basicmagnet. It explains that right-clicking toggles the magnet on and off, and that it pulls dropped items and blocks within a 5 block radius. The quest also suggests turning it off near mob farms, and it mentions that the magnet can be upgraded for more range.[2]
Which All the Mods 10 quests use Simple Magnets?
1 part
This mod shows up in one quest in the pack, found in the Tips and Tricks chapter. Since it's the only quest for this mod, there's no order to worry about. Grab it whenever you're ready for your drops to come to you.[2]
Tips and Tricks
The "Simple Magnets" quest quest has a single task: get a Basicmagnet. It's aimed at a common annoyance, when you break something and the blocks land just out of reach.[2]
- Right-click while holding the magnet to turn it on.[2]
- While it's on, dropped items and blocks within a 5 block radius are pulled to you.[2]
- You can equip the magnet in a Curios slot and keep using it without holding it.[2]
- Right-click with it again to switch it off.[2]
- You can upgrade the magnet to increase its range.[2]
Unverified The sources don't say how the magnet is upgraded, what range upgrades give you, or what reward the quest hands out.
What changed in Simple Magnets between versions?
1 part
Simple Magnets has been part of All the Mods 10 since version 2.2 or earlier, so magnets have been around since the early days of the pack.[3]
Pack updates
- All the Mods 10 2.2 or earlier: Simple Magnets is added to the pack.[3]
- All the Mods 10 2.42: Simple Magnets is updated from 1.1.12+b to 1.1.12+c.[7]
- All the Mods 10 5.5: the pack ships Simple Magnets 1.1.12+c, the same version introduced in 2.42.[3][7]
If you're playing 5.5, you're on Simple Magnets 1.1.12+c, which is the version the pack moved to in the 2.42 update.[3][7]
Unverified The available changelogs don't say what changed between 1.1.12+b and 1.1.12+c, such as bug fixes or behavior changes. They also don't confirm whether there were any other Simple Magnets version changes between the mod's first inclusion and 5.5.
