What is Simple Magnets?
2 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 11 0.10.0-beta guide
Simple Magnets adds magnets that pull items and experience toward you, so you stop chasing drops around your base. The pack includes version 1.1.12 of the mod.[1][2]
The mod's project page says magnets can be set to a whitelist or blacklist, and can go in Baubles or Curios slots. You can also toggle them with a key bind.[1]
What the mod adds
- Basic Magnet: picks up items and experience within a 5 block range of you.[1]
- Advanced Magnet: picks up items and experience with a configurable range, up to 11 blocks. Item range and experience range can be set separately, and items can be filtered with a whitelist or blacklist.[1]
- Demagnetization Coil: stops items from being attracted by magnets. Its effective area can be adjusted up to 3 blocks away.[1]
- Advanced Demagnetization Coil: does the same job with an area of up to 5 blocks, and it can filter items.[1]
Using them
To turn a magnet on or off, select it in your hotbar and right-click. To open the Advanced Magnet's GUI, shift-right-click with it. To filter items, click a filter slot with the item you want, then choose whitelist or blacklist and whether to match NBT data.[1]
The coils work differently. Look at a placed Demagnetization Coil with an empty hand and right-click it to open its GUI.[1]
How do you get started with Simple Magnets?
3 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 11 0.8.0-beta guide
Simple Magnets is a small mod with one job: it pulls dropped items and experience toward you so you don't have to chase them. The order below is the one I'd follow in this pack, starting with the Basic Magnet and moving up.[1]
Step 1: Make a Basic Magnet
Start with the Basicmagnet. When it's activated, it picks up items and experience within 5 blocks of you. That's already a big quality-of-life upgrade for mining, mob farms and cleaning up after a big build.[1][3][4]

To switch it on or off, select the magnet in your hotbar and right-click with it. You can also toggle it with a key bind, and it works in Baubles or Curios slots, so it doesn't have to take up a hotbar slot.[1]
Step 2: Upgrade to the Advanced Magnet
Next, craft the Advancedmagnet. It reaches up to 11 blocks and lets you configure the range for items and experience separately. It also supports item filtering, so you only grab what you actually want.[1][3][4]
Crafting Shaped

Shift-right-click with it selected in your hotbar to open its GUI. To set up a filter:[1]
- Open the Advanced Magnet's GUI.[1]
- Click one of the filter slots with the item you want to filter.[1]
- Switch the filter between whitelist and blacklist.[1]
- Choose whether the filter matches NBT data or not.[1]
Step 3: Add Demagnetization Coils if needed
Magnets can get annoying when you're sorting items on the ground or running a drop-based setup. That's where the coils come in. They stop items near them from being attracted by magnets. The Basic Demagnetization Coil can be adjusted to cover up to 3 blocks away.[1][3][4]

The Advanced Demagnetization Coil reaches up to 5 blocks and can filter items, so it only blocks the ones you choose.[1][3][4]

Unverified The recipe dump for this pack lists these four recipes without item inputs, so use the recipe blocks above to see the exact ingredients. I couldn't confirm whether the pack changes the default magnet ranges, and no quests in this pack are known to involve the mod.
How does Simple Magnets work?
6 parts
Simple Magnets is a small mod, and that is its charm. You get two magnets that pick up items and experience around you, and two demagnetization coils that you place to stop magnets from grabbing items. Everything below is how those four items behave in this pack.[1][5][6][7]
The two magnets
Both magnets pull in dropped items and experience around you when they are switched on. The Basicmagnet has a fixed range, which this pack sets to 5 blocks with General.basicMagnetRange.[1][5][8][9]
The Advancedmagnet has an adjustable range. The pack's default is 8 blocks, and you can tune it between 3 and 11 blocks. Those limits come from General.advancedMagnetRange, General.advancedMagnetMinRange and General.advancedMagnetMaxRange. The mod page also says item and experience range can be set separately on the Advanced Magnet.[1][5][8][9]

Using a magnet
- Select the magnet in your hotbar and right-click to turn it on or off.[1]
- Select the Advanced Magnet in your hotbar and shift-right-click to open its GUI, where you set the range and the filter.[1]
The mod page also says magnets can sit in Baubles or Curios slots and can be toggled with a key bind. The sources here do not give the default key.[1]
Filtering items
The Advanced Magnet can filter what it picks up. In its GUI you do the following:[1][5]
- Click one of the filter slots while holding the item you want.[1]
- Switch the filter between whitelist and blacklist.[1]
- Choose whether the filter should match NBT data or not.[1]
Demagnetization coils
Sometimes you do not want a magnet to grab things. That is what the coils are for. They are blocks you place, and they stop items within their range from being attracted by magnets.[1][5]
The Basic Demagnetization Coil starts at a range of 2 blocks and can be adjusted from 1 to 3, set by [[config:config/simplemagnets-common.toml#General.Demagnetization Coils.basicCoilRange]], [[config:config/simplemagnets-common.toml#General.Demagnetization Coils.basicCoilMinRange]] and [[config:config/simplemagnets-common.toml#General.Demagnetization Coils.basicCoilMaxRange]]. It has no item filter in this pack, because [[config:config/simplemagnets-common.toml#General.Demagnetization Coils.basicCoilFilter]] is false. That means it blocks every item in range.[5][7][8]
The Advanced Demagnetization Coil starts at 3 blocks and can be adjusted from 1 to 5, set by [[config:config/simplemagnets-common.toml#General.Demagnetization Coils.advancedCoilRange]], [[config:config/simplemagnets-common.toml#General.Demagnetization Coils.advancedCoilMinRange]] and [[config:config/simplemagnets-common.toml#General.Demagnetization Coils.advancedCoilMaxRange]]. Its filter is enabled in this pack through [[config:config/simplemagnets-common.toml#General.Demagnetization Coils.advancedCoilFilter]], so you can make it protect only certain items.[1][5][6][8]

- Place the coil where you want the protected area.[1]
- With an empty hand, look at the coil and right-click it to open its GUI.[1]
Both coils are normal placed blocks that drop themselves when you break them, so you can pick them up and move them.[6][7]
Range limits at a glance
- Basic Magnet: fixed at 5 blocks.[8]
- Advanced Magnet: 8 blocks by default, adjustable from 3 to 11.[8]
- Basic Demagnetization Coil: 2 blocks by default, adjustable from 1 to 3.[8]
- Advanced Demagnetization Coil: 3 blocks by default, adjustable from 1 to 5.[8]
Client options
The client settings are all switched on in this pack. Client.playToggleSound plays a ding when a magnet is turned on or off. Client.showToggleMessage shows an on-screen message at the same moment. Client.showDemagnetizationArea highlights a coil's range when you look at it, which is handy for placing coils accurately.[8]
How do you progress through Simple Magnets?
3 parts
Simple Magnets comes in a basic and an advanced tier in this pack, and each tier has a magnet and a demagnetization coil: Basicmagnet, Advancedmagnet, Basic Demagnetization Coil and Advanced Demagnetization Coil. All of them are made with shaped crafting recipes that come from Simple Magnets itself.[9]
Basic tier
Here is the exact in-pack recipe for the basic magnet:[9]

| any iron ingot | any iron ingot | any lapi gems |
| any iron ingot | any ender pearl | Empty slot |
| any iron ingot | any iron ingot | any redstone dust |

Advanced tier
The advanced items are also shaped crafting recipes. First the advanced magnet:[9]
Crafting Shaped
| any gold ingot | any gold ingot | any lapi gems |
| Ender Eye | any diamond gem | |
| any gold ingot | any gold ingot | any redstone dust |
Recipe id: simplemagnets:advancedmagnet
Then the advanced demagnetization coil:[9]

| Empty slot | any glowstone dust | Empty slot |
| any redstone dust | any gold ingot | any redstone dust |
| any gold ingot | any gold ingot |

Picking the coils back up
Both demagnetization coils are blocks. When you break one, it drops itself as an item, so you can collect it again.[6][7]
Which Simple Magnets config options matter?
3 parts
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide
Good news: Simple Magnets has just one config file, and in this pack every value in it is the mod's default. The pack changed nothing here, so you get the stock behavior. Here are the options you're most likely to touch, with the exact values the pack uses.[10]
Magnet ranges
- General.basicMagnetRange is 5, the pickup range for items and XP with the Basic Magnet. The allowed range is 1 to 20.[10]
- General.advancedMagnetRange is 8. This is the Advanced Magnet's default pickup range for items and XP.[10]
- General.advancedMagnetMinRange is 3 and General.advancedMagnetMaxRange is 11. These set the limits you can adjust the Advanced Magnet between. Both accept values from 1 to 20.[10]
Demagnetization coils
Coils stop items from being pulled in by magnets. Their ranges and filtering are configurable, and the allowed range for all coil range options is 1 to 10.[1][10]
- Basic coil: [[config:config/simplemagnets-common.toml#General.Demagnetization Coils.basicCoilRange]] is 2, with a minimum of 1 ([[config:config/simplemagnets-common.toml#General.Demagnetization Coils.basicCoilMinRange]]) and a maximum of 3 ([[config:config/simplemagnets-common.toml#General.Demagnetization Coils.basicCoilMaxRange]]).[10]
- Advanced coil: [[config:config/simplemagnets-common.toml#General.Demagnetization Coils.advancedCoilRange]] is 3, with a minimum of 1 ([[config:config/simplemagnets-common.toml#General.Demagnetization Coils.advancedCoilMinRange]]) and a maximum of 5 ([[config:config/simplemagnets-common.toml#General.Demagnetization Coils.advancedCoilMaxRange]]).[10]
- [[config:config/simplemagnets-common.toml#General.Demagnetization Coils.basicCoilFilter]] is false, so the Basic coil can't filter items. [[config:config/simplemagnets-common.toml#General.Demagnetization Coils.advancedCoilFilter]] is true, so the Advanced coil can.[1][10]
Client options
These are all quality-of-life toggles, and all of them are true in this pack. Switch any of them to false if it bugs you.[10]
- Client.playToggleSound plays a ding when you turn a magnet on or off.[10]
- Client.showToggleMessage shows an on-screen message when you toggle a magnet.[10]
- Client.showDemagnetizationArea highlights a Demagnetization Coil's range when you look at it, which is handy for placing coils.[10]
What changed in Simple Magnets between versions?
Simple Magnets is a short story in this pack. FTB Evolution 2 1.1.0 ships Simple Magnets 1.1.12, the NeoForge build for Minecraft 26.1.[11]
