What is Extreme Reactors?
1 part
Extreme Reactors lets you harness nuclear energy by building big multiblock Reactors and Turbines, then fine-tuning them for serious power output. This pack runs version 1.21.1-2.4.24 of the mod.[1][2]
The Reactor is the heart of it all. You can build it to generate power directly (passive cooling) or to vaporize coolant (active cooling). That vapor then spins the rotor of a Turbine, which turns it into energy. Along the way you'll manage fuel, control rod insertion and waste, and you can automate everything with Redstone signals and the mod's many fluid, energy and waste ports.[2][3][4]
A few support multiblocks round out the mod. The Fluidizer turns solid fuels into fluids and mixes fuels into new ones. The Reprocessor turns Reactor waste into new fuel or other resources. The Energizer stores huge amounts of energy.[5][6][7]
The mod works for newcomers and veterans alike. Your first Reactor is a small build fueled by Yellorium ingots from Yellorite Ore, and it's meant to cover your early-game power needs before you move on to bigger Reactors and Turbines.[2][8]
Where it fits in this pack
The pack has its own Extreme Reactors quest chapter. It starts with a Graphite Bar, walks you through the basic Reactor parts and a complete Reactor, then branches out into the Fluidizer, Cyanite Ingot, the Reprocessor, Turbines and reinforced Reactor parts.[9]
Later quests in that chapter ask for the mod's advanced ingots, such as Blutonium Ingot, Ludicrite Ingot, Ridiculite Ingot, Inanite Ingot and Insanite Ingot. The chapter ends at the Insanite Block in a quest in "?".[9]
The mod also shows up in other chapters. The nuclear age chapter asks for a Blutonium Ingot in a quest in "?". The building tips chapter accepts any of the mod's glass blocks in a quest in "?". And the chapter_2_the_star chapter asks for an Insanite Block in a quest in "?".[10][11][12]
Unverified The quest data doesn't confirm whether the Insanite Block is a required step toward crafting the ATM Star itself.
How do you get started with Extreme Reactors?
5 parts
Your first real goal in Extreme Reactors is a Basic Reactor. It's a multiblock machine, so you craft a set of separate blocks and place them next to each other in the world, and its main job is making energy. The Basic variant is the starter Reactor, with a maximum size of 5x5x5 blocks (external dimensions). The pack's Extreme Reactors quest chapter walks you through the parts in a sensible order, and this section follows that same path.[8][9][13]
Step 1: Graphite Bars
The very first quest in the chapter, a quest in "?", asks for a Graphite Bar. You can make Graphite Bars in a regular furnace or a blast furnace, and you can also craft a Graphite Block back into bars.[9][14]
Blast furnace versions of both recipes exist too.
Step 2: Casings
Next up is a quest in "?", which asks for a Reactor Casing (Basic) and a Reactor Glass (Basic). Casing blocks form the Reactor's frame and are also used to craft the other parts, so you'll craft a ton of them. Your first Reactor needs 22 Casings. Glass is optional and can take the place of a Casing on the faces if you want to see inside.[8][9][15]

Step 3: The working parts
With Casings in hand, three quests open up at once. Together they cover every remaining part your first Reactor needs, one of each:[8][9]
- Reactor Controller (Basic) from a quest in "?". This is your main interface, where you turn the Reactor on or off and check its fuel and heat.[9][16]
- Reactor Fuel Rod (Basic) and Reactor Control Rod (Basic) from a quest in "?". The Control Rod absorbs radiation to slow or stop fuel use, and you can set its insertion percentage in its interface.[9][17]
- Reactor Solid Access Port (Basic) and Reactor Active Forge Energy Power Tap (Basic) from a quest in "?". The Access Port is where fuel goes in, and the active Power Tap pushes Forge Energy out to whatever is connected to it.[8][9][18][19]

Once you're holding the full set, a quest in "?" checks it off and unlocks the next branches of the chapter.[9]
Step 4: Build it and fuel it
- Place the blocks following the diagram in the in-game manual, with the Fuel Rod in the center and a Casing below it.[8]
- When you place the last block, the Reactor forms. If nothing happens, right-click any of its blocks to get an error message that explains the problem.[8]
- Right-click the Solid Access Port, set it to Inlet mode and put your fuel ingots in the input slot. The Reactor quickly consumes them and turns them into fuel. The Extreme Wrench can also switch a port's input/output mode.[8][20]
- Open the Controller and turn the Reactor on. As it heats up, energy fills its internal buffer.[8]
- Connect an energy cable or a machine to the Active Power Tap, and it will send out energy to anything that can accept it.[8]
Unverified The in-game manual tells you to mine Yellorite Ore and smelt it into Yellorium ingots to craft and fuel the Reactor. The pack changed several of these recipes, and the sources don't confirm which ore or ingot you should use for fuel in this pack, so check the fuel tooltip and the recipe viewer in-game. This site does hold All the Mods 10's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.
What comes next
After your first Reactor, the chapter branches out. a quest in "?" asks for a Cyanite Ingot and leads into the Turbine and Reprocessor quests. a quest in "?" starts the Fluidizer line, the machine that turns solid fuels into fluids.[6][9]
How does Extreme Reactors work?
11 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide
Extreme Reactors is built around multiblock machines. The Reactor generates power directly or boils coolant into vapor. The Turbine turns that vapor back into energy. The Reprocessor recycles Reactor waste, the Fluidizer turns solid fuels into fluids and mixes fuels, and the Energizer stores huge amounts of energy. Here's how each one works under the hood.[4][5][6][7][23]
Forming a multiblock
Each machine is a set of blocks placed next to each other in the world. When you place the last required block, the structure forms and you can right-click the Controller to open its interface. If nothing happens, right-click any block of the build and you'll get an error message telling you what's wrong. Fix it and try again.[8]
Casing blocks such as Reactor Casing (Basic) build the frame, and you can also use them to fill the faces. Glass is purely decorative. It can replace Casing on the faces but never on the frame.[15][24]
How a Reactor makes heat
Reactors run on reactants. Fuel sustains the reaction inside the Fuel Rods, and waste is what's left once the fuel is consumed. By default the mod registers Yellorium and Blutonium as fuels, with Cyanite and Magentite as their wastes. Ejected Cyanite comes out as Cyanite Ingot. Mod packs can add, change or remove reactants.[25]
Fuel Rods go in long vertical or horizontal piles. Each pile starts against a Casing block and ends with a Control Rod. You can't mix orientations, so all your Control Rods end up on the same face. In a Control Rod's interface you set its insertion percentage, for that rod alone or for all rods. The rod absorbs radiation, which slows or stops fuel use and the generation of heat and waste.[17][26]
Irradiated fuel heats up. Moderators placed inside the Reactor absorb part of the radiation and move heat from the Fuel Rods toward the Casing. It's the Casing heat that finally produces energy or vaporizes coolant. Radiation travels in every direction perpendicular to the Fuel Rod piles, so your interior layout really matters. High core heat raises fuel usage, while high casing heat raises energy output and coolant conversion.[22][27]
Passive vs active cooling
A passively cooled Reactor turns its heat straight into energy, which goes into an internal energy buffer. Your first Reactor works this way. Watch that buffer: any energy that doesn't fit is lost.[8][22][28]
An actively cooled Reactor needs at least two Fluid Ports: one inserting coolant and one extracting the vapor it produces. You then pipe that vapor into one or more Turbines. By default water is the coolant and steam is the vapor, but mod packs can add or change these. Fluid Ports only accept valid coolants and vapors.[29][30][31]
The Mekanism Fluid Port can pull vapor out as a Mekanism gas. It does this when a Rotary recipe exists for the fluid in the Reactor, using that recipe's conversion rate.[32]
Fuel and waste handling
The Solid Access Port turns items like ingots into fuel. In inlet mode it accepts fuel sources, and in outlet mode it outputs waste. It's quick, but you always lose a small amount of material. The Fuel Injection Port does the same job with fluid fuels and fluid waste, with no material loss.[33][34]
In the Controller you choose how waste is ejected. In Automatic mode, waste leaves the core as soon as possible. In Manual mode, you eject it from the Controller screen or with a Redstone or Computer Port signal.[22]
The Extreme Wrench switches the input/output mode of Access Ports and Fluid Ports. It's also tagged as a Forge wrench, so it should work with other mods too.[20]

Power output and active vs passive parts
Reactors and Turbines don't commit to a power system until the energy leaves. Power Taps convert it on the fly from the internal buffer. Right now the mod ships a Forge Energy Power Tap, and each machine can only use one type of Power Tap.[19][35][36]
Many ports come in passive and active forms. A passive part never acts on its own, so the connected block has to push or pull. An active part pushes power, items or fluids out (or pulls items and fluids in) by itself, but won't let the connected block insert or extract. Mixing the two lets you fine-tune your logistics.[18]
In All the Mods 10 the pack changed the recipe for the Reactor Active Forge Energy Power Tap (Basic). Check the recipe below rather than a default guide.[37]

Want to charge gear directly? A Forge Charging Port on a passively cooled Reactor or a Turbine charges Forge Energy items. Put the item in the centre slot and it moves to the output slot once full. The eject button stops charging early.[38][39]
How a Turbine spins
Vapor is pumped from the Turbine's Vapor Fluid Tank into the rotor chamber at the flow rate you set in the Controller. The Rotor Blades capture some of it, and that spins the Rotor. When the Induction Coils are engaged, they pull energy from the Rotor but add drag and slow it down. When disengaged, the Rotor spins faster but makes nothing.[22][23]
The Rotor starts with a single Rotor Bearing on one face. Rotor Shaft blocks run from it to a Housing block on the far side. Rotor Blades go perpendicular to the shaft or extend outward from other blades. Blades only fully capture vapor up to their capacity, so pushing more flow than that drops efficiency.[22][40][41][42][43]
Coils go around the shaft, and only valid coil blocks are allowed. Better or more coils generate energy faster. Energy output depends on rotor speed and on the average efficiency and drag of your coil blocks.[22][23][44]
Variants and sizes
Basic Reactors top out at 5x5x5 blocks and mostly need iron ingots. Basic Turbines go up to 5x5x10 and use up to 1000 mB/t of vapor.[13][45]
Reinforced Reactors and Turbines can be much larger. Their maximum size is set in the Extreme Reactors config, up to 256 blocks. They cost more and are a bit less efficient, but make up for it in raw capacity. Some parts only exist on Reinforced builds: the Computer Port, the Fuel Injection Port and the Reactor Forge Fluid Port.[31][34][46][47][48]
Unverified The maximum Reinforced size configured in All the Mods 10 is not confirmed, and the vapor limit for Reinforced Turbines is not confirmed either, since the guide page for it appears to mislabel the figure as applying to Basic Turbines.
Automation
A Reactor Redstone Port can listen for a signal to switch the Reactor on or off, eject waste, or set the insertion of all Control Rods. It can also emit a signal based on these readings:[49]
- Casing heat or core heat above, below or between set temperatures.[49]
- Fuel richness, fuel amount or waste amount.[49]
- Energy stored in the internal buffer.[49]
- Coolant or vapor amount.[49]
A Turbine Redstone Port can toggle the Turbine, engage the coils or change the flow rate. It can signal on rotor speed, coolant, vapor or stored energy. For either machine you'll usually need two or more Redstone Ports.[50]
For more complex setups, the Computer Port lets a computer query and control the machine. The only supported computer mod is CC, and you can name individual Control Rods to address them from code.[17][48][51]
The Reprocessor
The Reprocessor is 3 by 3 and 7 blocks high, with one of each device part. Waste goes in through the Waste Injector, and the Fluid Injector adds the fluid it needs (different wastes may need different fluids). The Power Port takes Forge Energy. When a job finishes, the Collector picks up the result for the Output Port. You can work both injectors and the Output Port by hand or pipe them.[52][53][54][55][56][57]
The Fluidizer
The Fluidizer has a minimum size of 3x3x3. You need exactly one Controller and a Power Port fed with Forge Energy. Pipe the finished fuel out of the Output Port. The type and number of injectors you build in set its mode:[58][59][60][61][62]
- Solid mode needs exactly one Fluidizer Solid Injector and turns solid fuel into fluid fuel.[62]
- Solid Mixing mode needs exactly two Solid Injectors and mixes two solid fuels into a new fuel type.[62]
- Fluid Mixing mode needs exactly two Fluidizer Fluid Injector and mixes two fluid fuels into a new one.[62]
The pack changed the recipes for the Fluidizer Casing, Fluidizer Controller and Fluidizer Solid Injector.[37]

The Energizer
The Energizer has a minimum size of 3x3x3, and its whole interior must be filled with Energy Cell. The Controller shows capacity and energy flowing in and out. The Passive FE Power Port waits for connected blocks to push or pull energy, while the Active one pushes energy out automatically. A Charging Port charges Forge Energy items from the stored energy.[22][63][64][65][66][67][68]
The pack changed the recipes for the Energizer Casing, both FE Power Ports and the FE Charging Port. The Energy Cell uses the mod's own recipe.[37]

How do you progress through Extreme Reactors?
7 parts
Extreme Reactors has its own quest chapter in this pack, and it gives you a clear route to follow. You start with graphite and a Basic Reactor. Cyanite then opens up turbines and the Reprocessor, and a Fluidizer branch leads into Reinforced parts. The chapter ends with the rarest ingots the mod has to offer.[9]
Step 1: Graphite
The chapter kicks off with a quest in "?", which just asks for a Graphite Bar. You can make it in a furnace or a blast furnace, so it's an easy first step.[9][14]
Charcoal and blast furnace versions also exist.
Step 2: The Basic Reactor
The Basic variant is your starter Reactor. It has a maximum size of 5x5x5 blocks (external dimensions) and is meant as a cheap early-game power source.[13]
a quest in "?" asks for a Reactor Casing (Basic) and a Reactor Glass (Basic). It then splits into three quests. a quest in "?" wants the power tap and solid access port, a quest in "?" wants the controller, and a quest in "?" wants the control rod and fuel rod. After the controller quest, a quest in "?" asks you to bring all the parts together.[9]
The in-game guide lists the blocks for your first Reactor:[8]
- 22 Reactor Casing (Basic). Glass is optional and can replace a Casing block.[8]
- 1 Reactor Controller (Basic)[8]
- 1 Reactor Control Rod (Basic)[8]
- 1 Reactor Fuel Rod (Basic), placed in the center with a Casing below it[8]
- 1 Reactor Solid Access Port (Basic)[8]
- 1 Reactor Active Forge Energy Power Tap (Basic)[8]

Step 3: Cyanite and the Basic Turbine
Once your reactor quest is done, a quest in "?" asks for a Cyanite Ingot. This quest is the key that unlocks both the turbine quest a quest in "?" and the Reprocessor quest a quest in "?".[9]
The pack also has a recipe that makes Cyanite Ingots from essence, if you'd rather farm it.[14]

The Basic Turbine can be up to 5x5x10 blocks and can use up to 1,000 mB/t of vapor to spin its rotor.[45]
After the housing and controller, the turbine quests ask for the fluid port and power tap (a quest in "?"), the glass (a quest in "?") and the rotor bearing, shaft and blades (a quest in "?").[9]
Turbines are where the Reactor's operational mode matters. A Reactor can use either Passive or Active Cooling. An actively cooled Reactor turns a coolant into vapor, and that vapor drives the rotors of your Turbines.[3][30]

The Reprocessor and the endgame ingots
The Reprocessor lets you reuse the waste your Reactor produces by turning it into new fuel or other resources. Its quests go casing, then controller (a quest in "?"). From there they branch into the collector and waste injector, the power port, fluid injector and output port, and more casing (a quest in "?").[7][9]
The casing quest unlocks a quest in "?" for a Blutonium Ingot. Next comes a quest in "?" for Ludicrite Ingot and Ridiculite Ingot, then a quest in "?" for Inanite Ingot, which also needs the fuel injection port quest. Separately, a quest in "?" asks for an Insanite Ingot once the fuel injection port is done. All of these ingots come from Reprocessor recipes, and each one from Blutonium to Inanite builds on the ingot before it.[9][14]

How does Extreme Reactors work with other mods?
5 parts
Extreme Reactors doesn't sit on its own in this pack. Its resources feed into farming mods, bee breeding and one of the big endgame crafts, and a few quest chapters outside its own chapter point back to it. Here's where those connections show up.[10][11][12][14]
Mystical Agriculture: growing reactor materials
Mystical Agriculture has a recipe that turns Cyanite Essence into a Cyanite Ingot. The pack also adds its own infusion recipes for Cyanite Seeds and Graphite Seeds, and both use Extreme Reactors blocks. Check the recipes below for the exact inputs, because they are pack-specific.[14]

The pack adds a recipe for Philosopher's Fuel that pulls items from a whole bunch of mods. Extreme Reactors supplies the Insanite Block. Getting one is also a quest in the Extreme Reactors chapter (a quest in "?") and in the chapter_2_the_star chapter (a quest in "?").[9][11][14]

Quests in other chapters
- The building_tips chapter has a quest, a quest in "?", that accepts any of several glass blocks. Mekanism's reactor glass and structural glass count, and so does any Extreme Reactors glass, such as Reactor Glass (Basic) or Reprocessor Glass.[10]
- The the_nuclear_age chapter includes a quest in "?", which asks for a Blutonium Ingot.[12]
Power and fluids
The mod's machines talk Forge Energy, so they plug straight into the rest of your base. Any Forge Energy-compatible cable or generator can connect to the Fluidizer's Power Port. The Energizer's FE power ports work with any Forge Energy-compatible cable or machine. You can pull fuel out of the Fluidizer's Output Port with a pipe of any sort.[60][61][66][67]
Which All the Mods 10 quests use Extreme Reactors?
5 parts
Extreme Reactors has its own quest chapter in this pack, and a few of its items also show up in three other chapters. The dedicated chapter takes you from your first Graphite Bar through reactors, turbines, the Fluidizer and the Reprocessor, and ends with the mod's endgame ingots.[9][10][11][12]
Getting your first reactor running
The chapter opens with a quest in "?", which asks for a Graphite Bar. Next, a quest in "?" wants Reactor Casing (Basic) and Reactor Glass (Basic), and this quest branches out into the rest of the reactor parts.[9]
- a quest in "?" asks for a Reactor Active Forge Energy Power Tap (Basic) and a Reactor Solid Access Port (Basic).[9]
- a quest in "?" asks for a Reactor Controller (Basic).[9]
- a quest in "?" asks for a Reactor Control Rod (Basic) and a Reactor Fuel Rod (Basic).[9]
- After the controller quest, a quest in "?" asks for the full set of basic parts: casing, controller, solid access port, power tap, control rod and fuel rod.[9]
Finishing that full-reactor quest opens three paths: a quest in "?" for a Fluidizer Controller, a quest in "?" for more basic reactor casing, and a quest in "?" for a Cyanite Ingot.[9]
Turbines
The turbine branch comes after the Cyanite quest. a quest in "?" asks for Turbine Housing (Basic) and a Turbine Controller (Basic). From there, a quest in "?" wants the Turbine Active Forge Fluid Port (Basic) and Turbine Active Forge Energy Power Tap (Basic), a quest in "?" wants Turbine Glass (Basic), and a quest in "?" wants the Turbine Rotor Bearing (Basic), Turbine Rotor Shaft (Basic) and Turbine Rotor Blade (Basic).[9]
Once you've done both the turbine housing quest and the Cyanite quest, a quest in "?" moves you to the reinforced tier with Reactor Casing (Reinforced) and a Reactor Active Forge Fluid Port (Reinforced).[9]
The Fluidizer
After the Fluidizer Controller quest, three quests ask for the rest of the multiblock: a quest in "?" for Fluidizer Casing and Fluidizer Glass, a quest in "?" for the Fluidizer Output Port and Fluidizer Power Port, and a quest in "?" for the Fluidizer Solid Injector and Fluidizer Fluid Injector. When all three are done, a quest in "?" asks for a Reactor Fuel Injection Port (Reinforced), which then leads to a quest in "?" for an Insanite Ingot.[9]
The Reprocessor and endgame ingots
The Cyanite quest also unlocks a quest in "?" for Reprocessor Casing, then a quest in "?" for a Reprocessor Controller. After that come a quest in "?" for the Reprocessor Collector and Reprocessor Waste Injector, a quest in "?" for the Reprocessor Power Port, Reprocessor Fluid Injector and Reprocessor Output Port, and a quest in "?" for more Reprocessor Casing.[9]
- a quest in "?" follows the second Reprocessor Casing quest and asks for a Blutonium Ingot.[9]
- a quest in "?" then asks for a Ludicrite Ingot and a Ridiculite Ingot.[9]
- a quest in "?" needs both the Reinforced Fuel Injection Port quest and the Ludicrite/Ridiculite quest, and asks for an Inanite Ingot.[9]
- The chapter wraps up with a quest in "?", which needs the Insanite Ingot and Inanite Ingot quests and asks for an Insanite Block.[9]
Other chapters
- In the building_tips chapter, a quest in "?" accepts any one of several glass blocks. Any Extreme Reactors glass counts (reactor, turbine, Fluidizer or Reprocessor glass, basic or reinforced), and some Mekanism glass works too.[10]
- In the chapter_2_the_star chapter, a quest in "?" asks for an Insanite Block.[11]
- In the_nuclear_age chapter, a quest in "?" asks for a Blutonium Ingot.[12]
