What is Create: Dragons Plus?

2 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Create: Dragons Plus is a Create addon that adds convenient features for players, plus dev utilities for other Create addon authors. As a player, you'll mostly care about the first part: it gives your Encased Fans new jobs and makes tank handling easier.[1]

This pack ships version 1.11.7b, and the mod has been in the pack since 2.47 or earlier.[2]

What it adds

  • Bulk Coloring: use Dye Fluids with an Encased Fan to dye items. It supports most crafting recipes that use dyes.[1]
  • Bulk Freezing: use Powder Snow with an Encased Fan to freeze items.[1]
  • Bulk Ending: use a Dragon Head or Dragon's Breath (fluid) with an Encased Fan to infuse items with energy from The End.[1]
  • Bulk Sanding: use Quicksand with an Encased Fan to polish items. It supports all Sand Paper polishing recipes. Since version 1.8.5, Quicksand is no longer required if the Bulk Sanding block tag contains any block.[1]
  • Fluid Hatch: works like the Item Hatch, but gives you convenient take and deposit operations on Fluid Tanks.[1]

Who it's for

If you already run Create and want to process items in bulk with fans instead of one at a time, this mod is for you. It's also handy if you want simpler fluid tank access.[1]

The mod also has optional integrations with other mods, such as Create: Simulated, Create: Granished, Create: Dreams & Desires, The Aether, Dye Depot, Dyenamics, Arts & Crafts and Ars Nouveau. Each one only matters if that mod is installed. Its features can be enabled or disabled, unless a dependent mod forces them on or off.[1]

Unverified The sources don't show any quests for this mod, any role on the ATM Star path, or an in-game guidebook. They also don't confirm which of the integration mods are in this pack, or whether the pack changed any of the mod's configs or recipes.

How do you get started with Create: Dragons Plus?

5 parts

Create: Dragons Plus is a Create add-on that adds a handful of convenient features rather than a big new tech tree. Most of it builds on the Encased Fan: new bulk processing types for coloring, freezing, ending and sanding, plus a handy block for fluid tanks called the Fluid Hatch.[1]

Step 1: Grab a Fluid Hatch

The Fluid Hatch is the easiest win in the mod, so make it first. It works like Create's Item Hatch but for Fluid Tanks. Place it on a tank and you can pour fluid from the item you're holding straight into the tank, or fill empty fluid containers from it. That means no more piping just to top up or sample a tank.[1][3]

In this pack it's a simple shapeless crafting recipe that builds on a Create block you probably already use, so it's cheap to make early.[4]

Step 2: Mix up some dye for Bulk Coloring

Bulk Coloring is the headline feature. When an air flow passes through liquid dye, it becomes a coloring setup. Like Bulk Blasting and Bulk Smoking, it automatically works with crafting recipes that use dyes, so you can recolor stacks of items just by running them past a fan.[1][3]

This pack makes the mod's own dyes, from White Dye to Black Dye, with mixing recipes. There's one recipe for each color, so start with whichever color you need most.[4]

Mixing (create)

Recipe id: create_dragons_plus:mixing/white_dye_from_item

Every other color has a matching mixing recipe.

Watch out: Watch where you point the fan. A coloring air flow also changes the color of entities caught in it, and it colors their equipped armor too.[3]

Unverified The sources don't explain how the mixed dye is placed in front of the fan to build the coloring setup. Check the in-game Ponder scene for Bulk Coloring before you build.

Step 3: Dragon's Breath for Bulk Ending

Once you've visited the End, Bulk Ending is next. An air flow passing through a Dragon Head or Dragon's Breath creates an ending setup, which infuses items with energy from The End.[1][3]

In this pack you get the mod's Dragon's Breath from an emptying recipe, and you get the glass bottle back.[4]

Emptying (create)

Recipe id: create_dragons_plus:emptying/dragon_breath

Other fan setups

  • Bulk Freezing: an air flow passing through Powder Snow creates a freezing setup that freezes items.[1][3]
  • Bulk Sanding: an air flow passing through Quicksand creates a sanding setup that works with Sand Paper polishing recipes. From version 1.8.5 on, any block in the Bulk Sanding block tag activates it, so Quicksand isn't strictly required.[1][3]

Unverified It's not confirmed which blocks can trigger Bulk Sanding in this pack.

Later on: the Blaze upgrade template

The pack also has a crafting recipe for the mod's Smithing Template. Its additions slot description says it adds working blocks for Blaze.[3][4]

How does Create: Dragons Plus work?

7 parts

Most of this mod plugs into Create's Encased Fan. It adds new kinds of bulk fan processing, which is the same idea as Create's Bulk Blasting and Bulk Smoking but with new catalysts. It also adds the Fluid Hatch, a small quality-of-life block for fluid tanks. Here's how each piece works.[1][3]

How the new fan processing works

The rule is the same for every new type: point an Encased Fan so its air flow passes through the right block or fluid, and that air flow becomes a processing setup. Items carried through the air flow get processed, exactly like Bulk Blasting and Bulk Smoking in base Create.[1][3]

  • Bulk Coloring: air flow passing through Liquid Dye creates a Coloring Setup that dyes items.[1][3]
  • Bulk Freezing: air flow passing through Powder Snow creates a Freezing Setup that freezes items.[1][3]
  • Bulk Ending: air flow passing through a Dragon Head or Dragon's Breath creates an Ending Setup that infuses items with energy from The End.[1][3]
  • Bulk Sanding: air flow passing through Quicksand creates a Sanding Setup that polishes items.[1][3]

Bulk Coloring

Bulk Coloring is the most flexible of the new types. It is automatically compatible with certain crafting recipes that use dyes, so the mod describes it as supporting most crafting recipes with dyes. You don't need a special recipe for each item.[1][3]

Coloring air doesn't only hit items. It can also affect entities and change their color, and any armor an entity is wearing gets colored too. Keep that in mind before you walk through your own dye line.[3]

To run a Coloring Setup you need the liquid form of a dye, such as Red Dye or Blue Dye. In this pack, every color is made in a Create mixing recipe from the matching vanilla dye. The white recipe is shown below, and the other colors follow the same pattern.[4]

Mixing (create)

Recipe id: create_dragons_plus:mixing/white_dye_from_item

Every other color has a matching mixing recipe, for example create_dragons_plus:mixing/black_dye_from_item.

Bulk Ending

An Ending Setup accepts either a Dragon Head block or the fluid Dragon's Breath as its catalyst. In this pack you get the fluid by emptying vanilla Dragon's Breath bottles with Create's emptying process, which also gives you the glass bottles back.[1][3][4]

Emptying (create)

Recipe id: create_dragons_plus:emptying/dragon_breath

Bulk Freezing

Freezing is the simplest setup. Put Powder Snow in the path of the fan's air flow and items passing through get frozen.[1][3]

Bulk Sanding

Bulk Sanding is automatically compatible with Create's Sand Paper polishing recipes, so anything you'd normally polish by hand can go through the fan instead. The ponder scene shows Quicksand as the catalyst. Since version 1.8.5 of the mod, Bulk Sanding turns on whenever its block tag contains any block, so Quicksand is no longer strictly required.[1][3]

Fluid Hatch

The Fluid Hatch is the fluid version of Create's Item Hatch. You place it on a fluid tank. Using it with a filled fluid container deposits that fluid into the tank, and using it with an empty container pulls stored fluid back out. It's a handy way to top up or sample a tank without any pipework.[1][3]

Integration with other mods

The mod page lists hooks into other mods. Bulk Ending, Bulk Sanding and Bulk Freezing support the fan processing recipes of Create: Dreams & Desires, including its Industrial Fan. Bulk Coloring and Bulk Freezing support Create: Garnished's fan recipes, and Liquid Dye works with dyes from Dye Depot, Dyenamics and Arts & Crafts. Ars Nouveau's Containment Jar can also produce Dragon's Breath. These only apply if the other mod is installed.[1]

Unverified Which of these integrations are active in this pack, and whether every feature is enabled here, could not be confirmed. The mod lets features be switched on or off, and no config files for it were available.

Unverified The pack has a crafting recipe for the Smithing Template, and its tooltip only says it adds working blocks for a Blaze. What that upgrade actually does could not be confirmed.

How do you progress through Create: Dragons Plus?

4 parts

Create: Dragons Plus doesn't come with a big tiered ladder of machines in this pack. Everything it adds is made either on a crafting table or with Create's own processing steps like mixing and emptying. So your progression mostly follows how far along you are with your Create setup.[4]

Getting started: the Fluid Hatch

The easiest thing to make is the Fluid Hatch. It's a simple shapeless crafting recipe, and it builds on a Create part you'll probably already be making once you start handling fluids. That makes it a natural first pickup from this mod.[4]

Fluid HatchMod recipe

Crafting Shapeless

Recipe id: create_dragons_plus:crafting/fluid_hatch

Mid game: dyes through mixing

Once you have Create's mixing running, you can turn regular dyes into this mod's own dye versions. Every colour has its own mixing recipe, from White Dye and Black Dye to Magenta Dye and Light Blue Dye. They all follow the same pattern, so once you've set one up, switching colours is easy.[4]

Mixing (create)

Recipe id: create_dragons_plus:mixing/white_dye_from_item

Every other colour uses the same pattern with its matching dye.

Dragon's Breath through emptying

The mod's Dragon's Breath comes from Create's emptying process instead of a crafting table. You get a glass bottle back as part of the recipe, so you won't lose your bottles doing this.[4]

Emptying (create)

Recipe id: create_dragons_plus:emptying/dragon_breath

The Blaze upgrade Smithing Template

The Smithing Template uses a shaped crafting recipe that needs an existing copy of the template as an input. You'll need one in hand before you can craft more, so hang on to the first one you get.[4]

Crafting Shaped

Unverified The pack doesn't guide this mod through a quest line, so the order above is only a suggestion based on the recipes. It's also unconfirmed where you get your first Blaze upgrade Smithing Template and what exactly it upgrades.

How does Create: Dragons Plus work with other mods?

2 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 7.0 guide

Create: Dragons Plus mostly works behind the scenes as a helper for other Create addons, but in this pack a few of its items show up directly in other mods' recipes. The biggest link is with Create: Enchantment Industry, which relies on two Dragons Plus items for some of its key machines.[1][5]

Fluid Hatch and the Experience Hatch

The Fluid Hatch is the fluid version of Create's Item Hatch. It gives you a convenient way to take fluids out of and put fluids into Fluid Tanks.[1]

This pack changes the Fluid Hatch recipe, so check the version below rather than relying on what you might remember from other setups.[5]

In-pack recipe, changed by the pack

Once you have a Fluid Hatch, you can use it as the base for the Experience Hatch from Create: Enchantment Industry. It's made with Create's item application, so you apply an item onto the hatch instead of using a crafting table.[5]

The Blaze Upgrade Smithing Template

The Dragons Plus Smithing Template is required for two Create: Enchantment Industry machines. Both are made at a smithing table and both start from a Blaze Burner, so keep a few Blaze Burners ready.[5]

Unverified The mod's project page lists more integrations: fan processing support for Create: Garnished and Create: Dreams & Desires, Bulk Enchanting and Freezer recipes for The Aether, dye support for Dye Depot, Dyenamics and Arts & Crafts, Dragon's Breath from the Ars Nouveau Containment Jar, and Fragile Fluid Tanks with the Create: Simulated series. The sources don't confirm whether those mods are in this pack or whether these features are enabled here, since the page says every feature can be turned on or off.

What changed in Create: Dragons Plus between versions?

Create: Dragons Plus has been in All the Mods 10 for a good while and has received several updates along the way. Here's how its version changed across the pack's releases, so you can tell which build you're running.[6][7][8][9]

  1. All the Mods 10 2.47: Create: Dragons Plus joins the pack at version 1.4.2.[9]
  2. All the Mods 10 3.0: updated from 1.4.2 to 1.5.1.[8]
  3. All the Mods 10 3.2: updated from 1.5.1 to 1.5.2.[7]
  4. All the Mods 10 4.0: updated from 1.5.2 to 1.6.1.[6]

In All the Mods 10 4.5, the pack still ships Create: Dragons Plus 1.6.1, the same version it moved to in 4.0. If you're following this guide on 4.5, everything here applies to version 1.6.1.[6][10]

Unverified The pack changelogs only record version bumps. They don't say which features, recipes or fixes changed between these versions, and the mod's own changelogs for these builds aren't available here, so the exact gameplay differences between versions are unconfirmed.
