What is XNet?
2 parts
XNet is a XNet logistics mod built around one idea: a single type of networking cable. With it you can instantly move items, fluids, energy and information from one place to another, so you don't need a separate pipe system for each resource.[1]
Why people use it
The mod's focus is efficiency and flexibility. On the efficiency side, the cables aren't even tile entities, and the mod has been tested with two chests joined by a cable 12,000 blocks long with no lag. So big networks are fine.[1]
On the flexibility side, the controller lets you configure in detail how things are distributed across the network. If you like building a sprawling base and wiring it all together without worrying about performance, this mod is for you.[1]
In this pack
The pack ships XNet version 1.21-7.0.7.[2]
XNet also shows up on the ATM Star path. In Chapter 4: The ATM Star, the quest a quest in "Chapter 4: The ATM Star", titled "Good Wi-Fi needed", has you obtain the Wireless Router. That means you'll need to deal with XNet before you can finish that chapter.[3]
Unverified The sources I was given don't say what the Wireless Router does in this pack, how it is crafted, or where else XNet fits in the progression, and there's no in-jar guidebook to check. Check in-game before building around it.
How do you get started with XNet?
5 parts
XNet adds a single type of cable, and with it you can move items, fluids, energy and information instantly. It's built for efficiency and flexibility: it was tested with two chests separated by a cable 12,000 blocks long, with no lag. Here's what to make first in this pack, in order.[1]
First, the Controller
Start with the Controller. It's what gives you really flexible configuration for how things get distributed. The pack changed this recipe from the mod's default, so use the one below.[1][4]

Next, network cables
Next you need cable to link everything up. The colours are Blue Network Cable, Green Network Cable, Red Network Cable and Yellow Network Cable, plus the Routing Network Cable. The pack changed all of these, and the recipe below is the blue one.[4]

Then, connectors
Connectors are what you attach to the blocks you want to work with. In the interface you can choose to insert items into the connected block or extract items from it, set the redstone mode, and set how many ticks each operation takes. You can also name a connector, remove it, or copy it to the clipboard and paste it as a new one. The pack changed the connector recipes too.[4][5]

Setting up channels
Once your parts are placed, you work with channels. Each channel has an option to enable processing, and you can copy a channel to the clipboard and paste it to create a new one. For item channels, the distribution mode can be either Priority or Roundrobin.[5]
What to look at next
- Advanced Blue Connector and the other advanced connectors are crafted from a normal connector, and the pack changed those recipes. The Connector Upgrade Kit kit also has a pack-changed recipe.[4]
- Router and Wireless Router both have pack-changed recipes. The quest a quest in "Chapter 4: The ATM Star" in Chapter 4: The ATM Star has the Wireless Router as its task.[3][4]
- Facade, Antenna and Antenna Dish use the mod's own recipes, while Antenna Base was changed by the pack.[4]

How does XNet work?
6 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide
XNet adds one kind of cable, the networking cable, and it carries items, fluids, energy and information through the same network. Transport through the cable is instant. The mod focuses on efficiency and flexibility.[1]
On efficiency, the cables themselves are not tile entities. The mod page says it was tested with two chests joined by a cable 12,000 blocks long, with no lag. On flexibility, the Controller is what lets you configure how everything is distributed.[1]
The building blocks
A network is made of cables, connectors and a controller. Cables such as the Red Network Cable link the network together. Connectors such as the Red Connector attach to the blocks you want to pull from or push into. The Controller is where you configure the distribution. The controller, the colored and routing cables, and the basic connectors all have recipes changed by this pack, so use the recipes below rather than anything you remember from the default mod.[1][6][7]

The Advanced Red Connector is crafted from the matching basic connector, and the pack changed that recipe too. Cables and connectors can also be recolored by combining a dye with an existing cable or connector. Those dye recipes are unchanged from the mod.[7]

Channels and connectors
Work is organised into channels. Each channel has a number and a type, and has its own toggle to enable processing. Connectors can be named, removed, copied to the clipboard, and pasted as new connectors. Channels can be copied and pasted the same way.[6]
Item handling
- Each connector either inserts items into the connected block or extracts items from it.[6]
- A channel distributes items in either Priority or Roundrobin mode.[6]
- When extracting, you choose between the first available slot, slots in order, or a random slot.[6]
- The items moved per operation can be a single item, a full stack, or a specified count. There is also a separate setting for the amount to extract per operation.[6]
- Filters have a blacklist mode. Another setting disables the connector when the destination inventory has too many or too few items.[6]
- A speed setting sets the number of ticks for each operation.[6]
Energy and fluids
Energy and fluid settings have their own rate controls. The energy rate tooltip says it is limited per tick, and the fluid rate is capped in mb. Both also have minimum and maximum settings that can disable the operation when the energy or fluid level is too low or too high.[6]
Redstone control
A connector's redstone mode can ignore redstone, activate only when the signal is off, activate only when it is on, or do one operation per pulse.[6]
Logic and sensors
Connectors can also work with information. In output mode a connector sends a redstone signal to the connected block. In sensor mode it reads the connected block and outputs a redstone signal. A sensor can scan the following:[6]
- The amount of energy in the block.[6]
- The amount of fluid in the block, in mb.[6]
- The number of a target item in an inventory.[6]
- The redstone signal at the block.[6]
A sensor compares what it reads against an amount you set. The output can be a constant signal or a short impulse with a length in ticks. The logic filters are:[6]
- Direct outputs a value whenever there is input, and Static always outputs the value you set.[6]
- Inverted outputs the specified value when the input is 0 and outputs 0 for inputs of 1-15.[6]
- AND, NAND, OR, NOR, XOR and XNOR apply the matching logical operation to the input signal.[6]
- Latch toggles the output every time it receives an input signal.[6]
- Counter outputs a signal every time it has received a specified number of inputs.[6]
- Timer outputs a signal every specified number of game ticks, and 20 ticks is normally 1 second.[6]
How do you progress through XNet?
4 parts
The quest book gives XNet very little guidance. The only quest the sources show is a quest in "Chapter 4: The ATM Star", "Good Wi-Fi needed" in Chapter 4: The ATM Star, and its task is to get a Wireless Router. Everything else is progression by crafting, and the pack has rewritten most of those recipes. The tiers below are just a handy way to group them.[3][4]
Controller, cables and connectors
Every network starts with the Controller. The pack changed its recipe, so don't rely on what you remember from other modpacks.[4]
Crafting Shaped
| any redstone dust | any redstone dust | |
| any iron ingot | any gold ingot | any iron ingot |
Recipe id: xnet:controller
Then come the colored cables and connectors. The pack changed the recipes for the red, green, blue and yellow cables and for the basic connector of each of those colors. Here is the red pair as an example, and the other colors follow the same pattern.[4]
Crafting Shaped
| any red dye | ||

Recipe id: xnet:connector_red
If you crafted the wrong color, you don't have to start over. Dye recipes from the mod itself, not changed by the pack, turn a cable or a connector into another color. For example, the Blue Connector has a dye recipe that accepts any basic connector.[4]
Crafting Shapeless
- any blue dye
- any connector
Recipe id: xnet:connector_blue_dye
The mod's own dye recipe, not changed by the pack.
Routing and advanced connectors
The Routing Network Cable and Routing Connector are the routing line. The pack changed both recipes, and the routing connector is built from an existing basic connector.[4]

The advanced connectors (Advanced Red Connector, Advanced Green Connector, Advanced Blue Connector and Advanced Yellow Connector) are the next step up. Each one is built from the basic connector of the same color, and the pack changed those recipes. The Advanced Routing Connector (NOT) follows the same pattern from the routing connector, also changed by the pack. Advanced connectors can be recolored with dye like the basic ones.[4]

Router and wireless
The Router has a pack-changed recipe. The Wireless Router is the item the Chapter 4 quest asks for, and the pack changed its recipe too.[3][4]

Extras
- The Redstone Proxy has a pack-changed recipe. The Redstone Proxy (update) is a mod recipe that takes a Redstone Proxy plus a redstone torch.[4]
- The Facade uses the mod's own recipe, unchanged by the pack.[4]
How does XNet work with other mods?
3 parts
XNet is a cable mod, so most of its pack integration comes through crafting and progression rather than special mechanics. Here is what the pack's recipes and quests show.[1]
Pack-changed crafting recipes
The pack changed the crafting recipes for the Controller, the Router, the Wireless Router and the Redstone Proxy. Don't assume the standard XNet recipes from other modpacks apply here. The in-pack versions are shown below.[4]

The Wireless Router in the quest book
The Wireless Router has its own quest in the chapter "Chapter 4: The ATM Star". The quest is called "Good Wi-Fi needed" (a quest in "Chapter 4: The ATM Star"), and its task is to obtain the Wireless Router.[3]
Wireless Router as an ingredient for the Nexium Emitter
The Wireless Router is also an input to the Nexium Emitter. This is a recipe added by the pack, and it combines items from several other mods, so the Wireless Router is a step on the way to that item as well as a networking tool.[4]

Which All the Mods 10: To the Sky quests use XNet?
XNet only shows up in one quest chapter in this pack: Chapter 4: The ATM Star. It's a short appearance, so there's no long questline to follow here.[3]
The quest is titled "Good Wi-Fi needed" and it's a single-task quest: you hand in a Wireless Router. See a quest in "Chapter 4: The ATM Star" in the quest book.[3]
Unverified The quest's rewards, its prerequisites, and where it sits in the order of Chapter 4 aren't shown in the available quest data, so I can't say what comes before or after it. The Wireless Router's in-pack crafting recipe isn't covered here either.
What changed in XNet between versions?
There isn't much version history to report for XNet in this pack, and that's fine. All the Mods 10: To the Sky 2.0.4 ships XNet 1.21-7.0.7, and the mod has been in the pack since 1.0 or earlier.[2]
The only change I can confirm from the mod's own changelog is in 1.21-7.0.7, the version you're running: the Patchouli manual documentation was updated and expanded. So if you're stuck on how something in XNet works, the in-game manual is worth a look.[2][8]
Unverified The pack changelogs have no entries for this mod, so any changes to XNet between pack releases, or earlier XNet versions used in older pack releases, are unverified.
