What is XNet?
2 parts
XNet adds exactly one block type: a networking cable. With it you can move items, fluids, energy and information around your base instantly, with no need for a separate pipe for each resource.[1]
The mod is built around two ideas, efficiency and flexibility. On the efficiency side, the cables are not even tile entities. The project page says it was tested with two chests joined by a cable 12,000 blocks long, and there was no lag.[1]
On the flexibility side, the controller lets you configure in detail how things get distributed over the network.[1]
Who it's for
If you're building a big base and want one tidy cable system that carries many kinds of resources over long distances without hurting performance, this mod is made for you.[1]
In this pack
The pack ships XNet version 1.21-7.0.7.[2]
Unverified Where XNet fits in the pack's progression is not confirmed. No in-jar guidebook was found for the mod, and nothing in the available material places it on the ATM Star path or ties it to any quest. Pack-specific recipes and configs for XNet have not been checked here either.
How do you get started with XNet?
3 parts
XNet adds a single kind of cable that moves items, fluids, energy and information, and the Controller is where you configure how that gets distributed. So the plan is simple: make the controller, run some cable, then put connectors on the things you want to link.[1][3]
What to craft, in order
- Make the Controller first. It is the block that gives you the flexible configuration XNet is known for. The pack changed its recipe, so don't rely on what you remember from the mod's defaults.[1][4]
- Craft some network cable. Pick a color, for example Red Network Cable. The same cable also comes as Green Network Cable, Blue Network Cable and Yellow Network Cable. The pack changed these cable recipes as well.[4]
- Craft a connector, such as Red Connector, for each block you want to hook up. The pack changed these recipes too.[4]

Recoloring without re-crafting
You don't need a fresh recipe to change a color. A dye plus an existing cable or connector gives you the dyed version, for example Blue Network Cable or Blue Connector.[4]

Once it's built
The controller's interface works with channels and connectors. You can enable processing on a channel, copy and paste channels or connectors, and name each connector. Connectors can be set to insert items into the connected block or extract items from it, and you can also set a redstone mode and the number of ticks between operations.[3]
Later you can look at the Advanced Red Connector line, which the pack crafts from the matching regular connector, and the Connector Upgrade Kit. Those can wait until your first network is running.[4]
How does XNet work?
6 parts
XNet adds one kind of cable, the networking cable, and it carries items, fluids, energy and information through the same network. Transport through the cable is instant. The mod focuses on efficiency and flexibility.[1]
On efficiency, the cables themselves are not tile entities. The mod page says it was tested with two chests joined by a cable 12,000 blocks long, with no lag. On flexibility, the Controller is what lets you configure how everything is distributed.[1]
The building blocks
A network is made of cables, connectors and a controller. Cables such as the Red Network Cable link the network together. Connectors such as the Red Connector attach to the blocks you want to pull from or push into. The Controller is where you configure the distribution. The controller, the colored and routing cables, and the basic connectors all have recipes changed by this pack, so use the recipes below rather than anything you remember from the default mod.[1][3][4]

The Advanced Red Connector is crafted from the matching basic connector, and the pack changed that recipe too. Cables and connectors can also be recolored by combining a dye with an existing cable or connector. Those dye recipes are unchanged from the mod.[4]

Channels and connectors
Work is organised into channels. Each channel has a number and a type, and has its own toggle to enable processing. Connectors can be named, removed, copied to the clipboard, and pasted as new connectors. Channels can be copied and pasted the same way.[3]
Item handling
- Each connector either inserts items into the connected block or extracts items from it.[3]
- A channel distributes items in either Priority or Roundrobin mode.[3]
- When extracting, you choose between the first available slot, slots in order, or a random slot.[3]
- The items moved per operation can be a single item, a full stack, or a specified count. There is also a separate setting for the amount to extract per operation.[3]
- Filters have a blacklist mode. Another setting disables the connector when the destination inventory has too many or too few items.[3]
- A speed setting sets the number of ticks for each operation.[3]
Energy and fluids
Energy and fluid settings have their own rate controls. The energy rate tooltip says it is limited per tick, and the fluid rate is capped in mb. Both also have minimum and maximum settings that can disable the operation when the energy or fluid level is too low or too high.[3]
Redstone control
A connector's redstone mode can ignore redstone, activate only when the signal is off, activate only when it is on, or do one operation per pulse.[3]
Logic and sensors
Connectors can also work with information. In output mode a connector sends a redstone signal to the connected block. In sensor mode it reads the connected block and outputs a redstone signal. A sensor can scan the following:[3]
- The amount of energy in the block.[3]
- The amount of fluid in the block, in mb.[3]
- The number of a target item in an inventory.[3]
- The redstone signal at the block.[3]
A sensor compares what it reads against an amount you set. The output can be a constant signal or a short impulse with a length in ticks. The logic filters are:[3]
- Direct outputs a value whenever there is input, and Static always outputs the value you set.[3]
- Inverted outputs the specified value when the input is 0 and outputs 0 for inputs of 1-15.[3]
- AND, NAND, OR, NOR, XOR and XNOR apply the matching logical operation to the input signal.[3]
- Latch toggles the output every time it receives an input signal.[3]
- Counter outputs a signal every time it has received a specified number of inputs.[3]
- Timer outputs a signal every specified number of game ticks, and 20 ticks is normally 1 second.[3]
How do you progress through XNet?
5 parts
With XNet, your progression follows the crafting recipes. Many of the shaped recipes have been changed by the pack, so don't trust default-mod recipes you remember. The recipe boxes below show exactly what you need.[4]
Unverified The sources here do not show any XNet quests or where the mod sits in the pack's quest book, so check the in-game quest book for that.
Starting out: cables and basic connectors
You start with the colored network cables (Red Network Cable, Blue Network Cable, Green Network Cable and Yellow Network Cable) and the matching connectors (Red Connector, Blue Connector, Green Connector and Yellow Connector). The pack changed the shaped recipes for all of these. Here is the red pair as an example, and the other colors follow the same pattern.[4]

You don't need to craft each color from scratch. The mod's own dye recipes let you recolor an existing cable or connector with the matching dye, which is handy if you built the wrong color.[4]
Building a network: the Controller
The pack has changed the recipe for the Controller as well.[4]

Advanced connectors
Each advanced connector is crafted from its matching basic connector, so you build the basic version first and then upgrade it. The pack changed these recipes. The same pattern exists for the red, blue, green, yellow and routing versions.[4]

How does XNet work with other mods?
1 part
XNet adds a single cable type, so its links with other mods show up mostly in how you craft its machines. In this pack, the shared link is the Machine Frame. It sits outside XNet's own namespace and is part of the recipes for the Controller, Redstone Proxy, Router and Wireless Router.[1][4]

Which All the Mods 10 quests use XNet?
Neither of the quest chapters reviewed for this guide, Basic Power and Oritech, has a task that asks for an XNet item. So there is no XNet quest to follow in them.[5][6]
If you are looking for where the quest book deals with moving power around, that is the Basic Power chapter. It starts with "Basic Power" quest, and "Transferring Power" quest follows it. That quest describes several wired and wireless ways to transfer power. These quests come after it:[5]
- "Flux Networks" quest asks for Flux Dust. It is the start of the wireless power line, which continues with the core materials, the plug, the point and the controller.[5]
- "Pipez: Energy Pipes" quest asks for Energy Pipe and Pipe Wrench. "Pipez: Upgrades" quest comes after it.[5]
- "Mekanism: Universal Cables" quest accepts any tier of Mekanism universal cable.[5]
- "Mekanism: Quantum Entangloporter" quest asks for Quantum Entangloporter.[5]
What changed in XNet between versions?
XNet has been part of All the Mods 10 since version 2.25 or earlier, and All the Mods 10 8.1 ships XNet 1.21-7.0.7. The pack changelogs only record version bumps for this mod, so here is how it has moved along.[2]
- All the Mods 10 2.41: XNet updated from 1.21-7.0.3 to 1.21-7.0.4.[7]
- All the Mods 10 3.2: XNet updated from 1.21-7.0.4 to 1.21-7.0.6.[8]
- All the Mods 10 7.1: XNet updated from 1.21-7.0.6 to 1.21-7.0.7, which is the version still used in 8.1.[2][9]
Unverified The sources don't include the mod's own changelogs for these releases, so what changed inside XNet between 1.21-7.0.3 and 1.21-7.0.7 (fixes, features or balance changes) is unverified.
