What is Silent's Gems?
3 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide
Silent's Gems is the mod for colorful gemstones and building blocks. It adds 16 gemstones, and you can craft them into gem blocks, bricks, small bricks, polished, chiseled and smooth gem stones, glass and lamps. The pack includes version 5.1.3.[1][2]
If you love building, this one is for you. It gives you a lot of new colors to work with, and the gems can also become tools and armor when Silent Gear is installed. Silent Gear is what you need for gem tools and armor, and Silent Lib is required for the mod itself.[1]
Where the gems come from
The gems are spread across the three vanilla dimensions and overlap a bit, so some Nether and End gems can occasionally turn up in the overworld. The mod lets you configure which gems generate in which dimension and how often, and you can even disable specific gems. I can't confirm from the sources whether the pack changes any of those defaults.[1]
Black Diamonds spawn somewhat low in the Nether and less often than other gems, so you should find plenty while digging for ancient debris. White Diamonds spawn somewhat low in the End, so you'll need to dig around. Both are strong in all stats but much harder to find.[1]
Gem roles
If you use the gems for Silent Gear tools and armor, each gem fits a role. Gems are usually stronger in their role's stats, and every gem still has unique traits.[1]
- Durability: Ruby and Carnelian. They are good for repairs and area-of-effect harvest tools like the hammer and excavator.[1]
- Speed: Topaz, Citrine and Heliodor. They are good for harvest tools.[1]
- Damage: Peridot, Moldavite and Rose Quartz. They are good for weapons like swords and bows.[1]
- Armor: Sapphire, Iolite and Ammolite.[1]
- All-Rounder: Turquoise, Kyanite, Alexandrite and Black/White Diamond. They are above average in most stats.[1]
Handy extras
- Gem Bag: collects and stores gems as you mine them, which frees up your inventory. It doesn't apply to ores.[1]
- Glowrose: a light-emitting flower that spawns naturally. Its light is enough to prevent mob spawns just two blocks away (configurable), and potted glowroses give off much more light than freestanding ones.[1]
- Flower Basket: works like the Gem Bag, but collects flowers you mine.[1]
- Summon Kitty and Summon Puppy: spawn a tamed cat or dog, which you can name in an anvil.[1]
Unverified The sources I have don't show where Silent's Gems fits in the pack's progression, and no quests involving it were found. Whether Silent Gear is also in the pack, which you need for gem tools and armor, is not confirmed here either.
How do you get started with Silent's Gems?
5 parts
Silent's Gems adds 16 gemstones, and nearly everything it offers starts with getting your hands on a few of them. The gems are used for building blocks like gem blocks, bricks, glass and lamps, plus a few other useful items. This guide uses alexandrite as the example, but the same recipes exist for the other gems, such as ammolite and black diamond.[1]
First, find and process gem ore
The gems are spread across the Overworld, the Nether and the End, and some Nether and End gems can occasionally turn up in the Overworld. Black diamonds spawn somewhat low in the Nether and are less common than other gems, so you will likely find them while digging for ancient debris. White diamonds spawn somewhat low in the End. Both are much harder to find than the rest.[1]
Once you have Alexandrite Ore, smelt it into a gem. The mod also has a blasting recipe for each gem, shown below.[3]
Other ways to get gems in this pack
This pack changed two other routes. Crushing alexandrite ore with Create gives a Nugget of Experience, netherrack and 3 alexandrite. Ammolite ore crushes into end stone instead of netherrack, still with 3 gems.[3]
Productive Metalworks casting is also changed by the pack. A Gem Cast plus 100 units of molten alexandrite makes one alexandrite, and 900 units cast a whole Alexandrite Block.[3]
Next, make your first building blocks
A simple way to put your gems to use is decoration. Gem bricks and gem glass each give you 12 blocks per craft.[3]

Next, make a lamp. It is the same gem-and-dust idea, and you can turn it into an inverted lamp afterwards.[3]

If you want to store your gems compactly, you can pack them into a gem block and turn a block back into 9 gems later.[3]

Then, try teleporters
When you are ready for something fancier, gem teleporters are the next thing to craft. One craft gives you 2 of them, and you can upgrade a teleporter to a redstone version afterwards.[3]

Good to know
- Gem Bags collect gems as you mine them, which frees up inventory space. They do not pick up ores.[1]
- Gems can also make tools and armor, but only if Silent Gear is installed. Silent's Gems alone gives you blocks and utility items.[1]
- Glowroses are light-emitting flowers that spawn naturally around the world, and a potted one gives off much more light than a freestanding one.[1]
How does Silent's Gems work?
7 parts
Here is the honest picture first: Silent's Gems is a gem and building block mod, not a tech mod. Its description covers gemstones, decorative blocks and a few utility items, and nothing in the sources describes machines, multiblocks, power, fluids or automation for it. So this section covers the systems the sources do explain: gem sources, collection items, lamps, teleporters and how the pack handles alexandrite and ammolite.[1]
Where gems come from
The mod adds 16 gemstones, split across the three vanilla dimensions with some overlap. Some Nether and End gems can occasionally turn up in the overworld. Black Diamonds spawn somewhat low in the Nether, and White Diamonds spawn somewhat low in the End.[1]
The mod page says you can configure it to generate any gem in any dimension, at any frequency, or to disable specific gems. This pack has no config file for the mod in the sources I was given, so I can't confirm whether the pack changes any of that.[1]
Once you have an ore, the pack gives you a few ways to turn it into gems. For alexandrite and ammolite, a blasting recipe turns the ore into the gem, and gem and storage block recipes convert between them.[3]
- Blasting: any ore in the alexandrite ore tag becomes Alexandrite. Ammolite has the same kind of blasting recipe and gives Ammolite.[3]
- Block conversion: Alexandrite Block breaks back down into 9 alexandrite, and ammolite works the same way with Ammolite Block.[3]
Pack changes to processing
The pack changes how alexandrite and ammolite work with other mods. The Create crushing recipe for Alexandrite Ore is marked as changed by the pack. It gives a Nugget of Experience, netherrack and 3 alexandrite.[3]
Crushing (create)
Recipe id: create:crushing/compat/silentgems/alexandrite_ore
Productive Metalworks casting is also changed by the pack. Casting an alexandrite gem uses a Gem Cast and 100 of molten alexandrite. Casting a storage block takes 900 of the molten gem, for both alexandrite and ammolite.[3]

Collecting while you mine
The Gem Bag collects and stores gems as you mine, which frees up inventory space for more mining. The Flower Basket works the same way, but for flowers.[1]
Lamps
Each gem has its own lamp block. You make one from the gem, and the pack also has an inverted version made by combining a lamp with a redstone torch. Here is the alexandrite pair, and the ammolite versions follow the same pattern.[3][4]

Teleporters
Teleporters are made per gem, and one craft gives you 2 of them. The alexandrite one is shown below, and Ammolite Teleporter has a matching recipe built around ammolite.[3]

Glowroses
Glowroses are light-emitting flowers that spawn naturally in the world. Their light is enough to stop mob spawns two blocks away, and the mod page says this is configurable. I can't confirm the pack's value. You can plant them in vanilla flower pots, and a potted glowrose gives off much more light than a freestanding one.[1]
Sparkling Bone Meal grows glowroses when used on grass.[4]
Food
The mod has a few foods too: Fishy Stew, Meaty Stew and Sugar Cookie. The stews start from Uncooked Fishy Stew and Uncooked Meaty Stew. The exact recipes are shown below.[3]
How do you progress through Silent's Gems?
4 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 4.10 guide
Here's the honest picture for this pack: the only thing I can confirm about Silent's Gems is its crafting recipes, so this section follows the gems themselves rather than a quest line. The pack's recipes turn each raw gem into storage blocks, bricks, glass, lamps and teleporters.[5]
The gems I can see recipes for are Alexandrite, Ammolite, Aquamarine, Black Diamond, Carnelian, Citrine, Garnet, Heliodor, Iolite, Kyanite, Moldavite and Opal. Alexandrite through moldavite each have block, bricks, glass, lamp and teleporter recipes, and opal has block, bricks and glass recipes in the sources I have.[5]
Step 1: Gem blocks and decorative pieces
Every gem can be packed into a block and unpacked again, so you can store them compactly. Past that, the gems feed decorative blocks such as bricks, glass and lamps. I'll use garnet as the example, but the other gems follow the same pattern.[5]
This recipe unpacks a garnet block back into gems.

Each lamp also has an inverted version with its own recipe.[5]
Step 2: Chaos Essence and teleporters
The teleporters are the most involved gem recipes I can see. They use a Block of Chaos Essence, which is made by compacting Chaos Essence. Each gem has its own teleporter, plus a redstone version made from the finished teleporter.[5]

Quests
Unverified The sources here show no quests involving Silent's Gems, and the mod does not appear on the ATM Star quest path, so I can't point you to a quest-guided progression for it. The gem-to-block-to-teleporter path above is what the recipes confirm.
How does Silent's Gems work with other mods?
3 parts
Silent's Gems connects to Create, Productive Metalworks and the pack's shared Silver Ingot through in-pack recipes. The pack has changed every one of these recipes, so what you see in the recipe viewer is what counts.[3]
Create: crushing gem ores
Create's crushing recipes turn Silent's Gems ores into their gem, plus a Nugget of Experience and a stone-type block. Which block you get depends on the ore. Topaz Ore gives Cobblestone. Ammolite Ore, Kyanite Ore and Rose Quartz Ore give End Stone.[3]
Alexandrite Ore, Black Diamond Ore, Carnelian Ore, Citrine Ore, Iolite Ore, Moldavite Ore and Turquoise Ore all give Netherrack. The sources here don't list output amounts or chances, so check the recipe viewer for those.[3]
Crushing (create)
Recipe id: create:crushing/compat/silentgems/topaz_ore
Crushing Topaz Ore gives the gem, an experience nugget and cobblestone.
Productive Metalworks: casting gems
Productive Metalworks can cast Silent's Gems gems. Each casting recipe uses a Gem Cast together with the matching molten gem, and it produces the gem itself. The gems covered are Alexandrite, Ammolite, Black Diamond, Carnelian, Citrine, Heliodor, Iolite, Kyanite, Moldavite, Rose Quartz, Topaz, Turquoise and White Diamond.[3]
Heliodor and White Diamond have no ore-crushing recipe in the sources, so casting is the route to them that the sources confirm.[3]

Silver
Silent's Gems silver feeds into the pack's shared silver. Smelting or blasting Raw Silver gives the Silver Ingot, and a Block of Silver can be turned back into that same ingot.[3]

Blasting Raw Silver gives the same ingot.

What changed in Silent's Gems between versions?
1 part
Silent's Gems has been in the pack since All the Mods 10: To the Sky 1.0 or earlier. Version 1.0.2 ships Silent's Gems 5.1.2, so that is the version this guide describes.[6]
Silent's Gems 5.1.2 (2025-07-13)
This is the mod's own changelog for the release in the pack. It requires Silent Gear 4.0.25 or higher.[7]
- Added five new gems: garnet, aquamarine, tanzanite, opal, and pearl.[7]
- Added new traits.[7]
- Added reinforced gold and silver rods.[7]
- Fixed redstone teleporters so they no longer move entities in the c:teleporting_not_supported tag. They also won't move entities across dimensions if the entity normally doesn't allow it.[7]
The pack changelogs have no entries for this mod, so I can't tell you about any pack-specific changes to it between releases. This section only covers what the mod's own 5.1.2 changelog says.[6][7]
