What is Silent Gear Metalworks?
2 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10: To the Sky 2.0.4 guide
Silent Gear Metalworks is in this pack at version 1.21.1-1.5.0. The sources here include no guidebook and no platform description for the mod, so everything below comes from the pack's mod list and quest book.[1]
What you'll see most is casts. The pack's Silent Gear quest chapter is a long run of quests, and each one asks you to get a cast for a different tool, weapon, armor piece or accessory. Every one of them comes after a quest called Casts, so that's your starting point in the chapter.[2]
What the casts are for
The quest text helps you pick what to make first. The Sword Cast is for the basic sword, with reliable damage and reliable speed. The Dagger Cast gives low damage but very high attack speed, and it reduces the target's invincibility time.[2]
- Knife Cast: higher durability than a dagger, but lower damage and speed.[2]
- Katana Cast: more damage than a sword, but slower.[2]
- Machete Cast: slightly faster than a sword, but lower damage.[2]
- Spear Cast: less damage than a sword, but longer reach.[2]
- Paxel Cast: the quest title calls it Pickaxe + Axe + Shovel.[2]
- Hammer Cast and Excavator Cast: the quests title these 3x3 Mining and 3x3 Digging.[2]
The Tip Cast is for the Tip Upgrade, which raises a tool's mining level. The quest's example is an Iron Pickaxe with a Diamond Tip Upgrade, which lets it mine Obsidian and gives it a stat boost.[2]
Beyond the casts
The mod also adds the Uru Metal Block. It turns up in the Productive Bees chapter, in the quest "Uru Metal Bee" quest, where you pour Molten Uru over an Unobtainium Bee Spawn Egg.[3]
Unverified Whether the ATM Star path uses this mod is not shown in the sources here. Check the pack's quest book to see how the Silent Gear chapter connects to the rest of it.
How do you get started with Silent Gear Metalworks?
3 parts
Silent Gear Metalworks is all about casts. In this pack, metal and gem tool parts have to be cast in a foundry from Productive Metalworks, so your first job is to make a few casts and see how that casting step works.[4]
The casts below each have their own quest in the Silent Gear chapter, placed after the Casts quest. Here is the order I'd start in.[5]
The first casts to make
- Start with the Tool Rod Cast. Its quest is called "Your own Handle!", so it's a natural first stop. See a quest in "Silent Gear".[5]
- Next, make the Pickaxe Cast. Its quest is a quest in "Silent Gear", "Pick one!".[5]
- Then make the Sword Cast, which the quest describes as the basic sword with reliable damage and reliable speed. See a quest in "Silent Gear".[5]
- Finish this round with the Tip Cast. The quest explains that the Tip Upgrade raises a tool's mining level. Its example is an Iron Pickaxe with a Diamond Tip Upgrade, which can then mine Obsidian and also gets a stat boost. See a quest in "Silent Gear".[5]

Where to go next
The rest of the chapter is about specialising. The Hammer Cast is the "3x3 Mining" quest and the Excavator Cast is "3x3 Digging!". Armor has its own casts too: Helmet Cast, Chestplate Cast, Leggings Cast and Boots Cast.[5]
Weapon casts each have their own role. The Dagger Cast is low damage with very high attack speed. The Katana Cast hits harder than a sword but is slower. The Spear Cast trades some damage for longer reach.[5]
Uru Metal
This mod also adds Molten Uru Metal. The pack changed its alloying recipe, so use the exact version below. The Uru Metal Ingot, Uru Metal Nugget and Uru Metal Block casting recipes are shown after it.[6]

The "Uru Metal Bee" quest quest in the Productive Bees chapter also uses Uru Metal. It tells you to pour Molten Uru over an Unobtainium Bee Spawn Egg.[7]
How does Silent Gear Metalworks work?
6 parts
Silent Gear Metalworks has no machines of its own. It is the bridge that lets Silent Gear parts be made with the metalworking setup from Productive Metalworks. The mod's own tooltip says it plainly: all metal and gem tool parts require casting in a foundry from Productive Metalworks. So the real mechanics are the recipe types this mod's items plug into.[4]
The four recipe types you will meet
- Item melting: an item goes in and molten fluid comes out. The pack has 96 of these that make Silent Gear Metalworks fluids, with 28 different results.[6]
- Item casting: molten fluid plus an item makes a solid item. The pack has 34 casting recipes that make this mod's items from Silent Gear parts, and another 33 that make both a Silent Gear Metalworks item and a Silent Gear item.[6]
- Block casting: molten fluid alone is cast straight into a storage block.[6]
- Fluid alloying: several molten fluids are combined into a new one.[6]
Melting
The mod adds a long list of molten fluids, each with its own bucket. They cover metals like Molten Azure Silver and Molten Uru Metal, and gems like Molten Ruby.[4]
Azure Silver dust melts into 90 Molten Azure Silver, and Azure Electrum dust melts into 90 Molten Azure Electrum. Both melting recipes are changed by the pack.[6]
Gems melt too. A Ruby GeOre shard gives 100 Molten Ruby and a Ruby GeOre block gives 400. Both recipes are changed by the pack.[6]
Item Melting (productivemetalworks)
Recipe id: productivemetalworks:melting/geore/ruby_shard
There is also a melting recipe for a Uru Metal comb that yields 10 Molten Uru Metal. The pack changed it. The recipe dump lists no item input for it, so I can't tell you more about the comb's source here. It ties into the Uru Metal Bee, whose in-game description says to look up the crafting recipe of its spawn egg.[4][6]
Alloying
Alloying takes several molten fluids at once. Molten Blaze Gold needs 200 of any molten blaze and 90 of any molten gold, and gives 90 of the alloy. Molten Azure Electrum needs 360 molten azure silver, 100 molten ender and 180 molten gold, and also gives 90. The pack changed both recipes.[6]
Fluid Alloying (productivemetalworks)
- 360× any molten azure silver
- 100× any molten ender
- 180× any molten gold
Recipe id: productivemetalworks:alloying/molten_azure_electrum
The pack's Molten Uru Metal alloy is the biggest one. It takes 90 each of Molten Allthemodium, Molten Unobtainium and Molten Vibranium. It also takes 180 of any molten meat tag, 180 of any molten heavy core and 90 of any molten tyrian steel, and gives 90 Molten Uru Metal. The pack changed this recipe too.[6]
Fluid Alloying (productivemetalworks)
90× Molten Allthemodium
90× Molten Unobtainium
90× Molten Vibranium
- 180× any meat
- 180× any molten heavy core
- 90× any molten tyrian steel
Recipe id: productivemetalworks:alloying/atm/molten_uru_metal
Casting ingots and blocks
To get a Uru Metal Ingot, you cast 90 of any molten uru metal using an Ingot Cast. For a Uru Metal Block you can cast 810 molten uru metal directly, or craft 9 ingots into a block. A block can also be turned back into 9 ingots. The two casting recipes are changed by the pack.[6]
Item Casting (productivemetalworks)
Ingot Cast
- 90× any molten uru metal
Recipe id: productivemetalworks:casting/ingots/sgearmetalworks/uru_metal
Block Casting (productivemetalworks)
- 810× any molten uru metal
Recipe id: productivemetalworks:casting/storage_blocks/sgearmetalworks/uru_metal
Casts for tool and armor parts
The mod adds a wide range of casts, one for each kind of gear part: arrow, axe, bow, pickaxe, sword, helmet, ring and many more. Each cast is made from the matching Silent Gear part.[4][6]
In this pack, the Arrow Cast and the Axe Cast each take the matching Silent Gear part plus 360 of any molten steel. Both recipes are changed by the pack.[6]
Casting with Uru metal works the other way round. A Tyrian Steel Ingot plus molten uru metal gives you a Uru Metal Ingot together with the part. Arrow Heads cost 90 molten uru metal and an Axe Head costs 270. Both are mod recipes, unchanged by the pack.[6]
Item Casting (productivemetalworks)
Tyrian Steel Ingot
- 270× any molten uru metal
Recipe id: sgearmetalworks:casting/uru/axe_head
What the sources don't cover
Unverified How the foundry multiblock is built, what power or fluid input it needs, and how to automate it with pipes or hoppers are not covered by the sources I have, so I can't confirm any of it. Those details belong to Productive Metalworks rather than this mod.
How do you progress through Silent Gear Metalworks?
3 parts
In this pack the Silent Gear Metalworks progression has two strands: a long checklist of cast quests, and a chain of alloys that ends in Uru Metal. Here is how both work, following the pack's quests and recipes.[5][6]
Step 1: Unlock the casts
In the Silent Gear quest chapter, every cast quest comes after the Casts quest. Each one asks you to get a single cast item, so the chapter works as a checklist of everything you can cast.[5]
The pack changed the recipe for every cast. Each cast is made by item casting from the matching Silent Gear part. Here is the Sword Cast as an example, and the other casts follow the same pattern.[6]
Item Casting (productivemetalworks)
Sword Blade
- 360× any molten steel
Recipe id: sgearmetalworks:casting/sword_cast
Pack-changed recipe. The other casts use the same item casting pattern.
A few quests carry short notes that help you decide what to cast first:[5]
- Sword Cast is the basic sword, with reliable damage and reliable speed (a quest in "Silent Gear").[5]
- Dagger Cast gives low damage but very high attack speed, and it reduces the target's invincibility time (a quest in "Silent Gear").[5]
- Knife Cast has higher durability than a dagger but lower damage and speed (a quest in "Silent Gear").[5]
- Katana Cast does more damage than a sword but is slower (a quest in "Silent Gear").[5]
- Machete Cast is slightly faster than a sword but does lower damage (a quest in "Silent Gear").[5]
- Spear Cast does less damage than a sword but has longer reach (a quest in "Silent Gear").[5]
- Hammer Cast is titled 3x3 Mining (a quest in "Silent Gear"), and Excavator Cast is titled 3x3 Digging (a quest in "Silent Gear").[5]
The Tip Cast quest explains that the Tip Upgrade raises a tool's mining level. Its example is an Iron Pickaxe plus a Diamond Tip Upgrade, which lets the pickaxe mine Obsidian and also gives it a stat boost (a quest in "Silent Gear").[5]
Step 2: Molten gems and alloys
The pack has melting recipes that turn gems into their molten form, for example Molten Ruby, Molten Sapphire and Molten Topaz. Ruby, Sapphire and Topaz GeOre shards and blocks can be melted into the same fluids.[6]
The alloys are where the progression builds. The pack changed all of these alloying recipes. Crimson Steel and Azure Electrum come first, and the Tyrian Steel recipe is the next step up from them.[6]
Fluid Alloying (productivemetalworks)
- 200× any molten blaze
- 810× any molten crimson iron
- 100× any molten magma cream
Recipe id: productivemetalworks:alloying/molten_crimson_steel

Molten Blaze Gold has its own pack-changed alloying recipe too.[6]
Fluid Alloying (productivemetalworks)
- 200× any molten blaze
- 90× any molten gold
Recipe id: productivemetalworks:alloying/molten_blaze_gold

Step 3: Uru Metal
Molten Uru Metal is the end of this chain, and its alloying recipe is a pack-specific one. The recipe block shows exactly what goes in.[6]
Fluid Alloying (productivemetalworks)
90× Molten Allthemodium
90× Molten Unobtainium
90× Molten Vibranium
- 180× any meat
- 180× any molten heavy core
- 90× any molten tyrian steel
Recipe id: productivemetalworks:alloying/atm/molten_uru_metal
Pack-changed alloying recipe for Molten Uru Metal.
Once you have the molten metal, you cast it into an Uru Metal Ingot, a Uru Metal Nugget or an Uru Metal Block.[6]
Item Casting (productivemetalworks)
Ingot Cast
- 90× any molten uru metal
Recipe id: productivemetalworks:casting/ingots/sgearmetalworks/uru_metal
Pack-changed casting recipe for the ingot.
Block Casting (productivemetalworks)
- 810× any molten uru metal
Recipe id: productivemetalworks:casting/storage_blocks/sgearmetalworks/uru_metal
Pack-changed casting recipe for the block.
The ingot, nugget and block also convert between each other in the crafting grid with the mod's own shapeless recipes, which the pack has not changed.[6]
Uru Metal also shows up outside the Silent Gear chapter. The Productive Bees quest "Uru Metal Bee" quest says to pour Molten Uru over an Unobtainium Bee Spawn Egg, and it lists an Uru Metal Block among its task items.[7]
How does Silent Gear Metalworks work with other mods?
4 parts
In this pack, Silent Gear Metalworks mostly links Silent Gear tool and armor parts to the Productive Metalworks casting setup. It also adds a few fluids and an alloy that other mods feed into. The recipes below were changed by the pack, except the Uru part-casting recipes, which are listed as mod recipes.[6]
Silent Gear parts and casts
You make a cast by casting molten steel onto a Silent Gear part. For example, the Sword Cast comes from a Sword Blade. The same pattern covers other parts, from pickaxe heads to armor plates, rings and the Tip Upgrade upgrade.[6]
Item Casting (productivemetalworks)
Sword Blade
- 360× any molten steel
Recipe id: sgearmetalworks:casting/sword_cast
A Silent Gear part plus molten steel makes the cast.
A cast then goes into a separate gear-casting recipe that gives you the Silent Gear part back, ready to build a gear item from.[6]
Sg Gear Casting (sgearmetalworks)
Recipe id: sgearmetalworks:casting/silentgear/sword_blade
The cast is turned back into the Silent Gear part.
The Silent Gear quest chapter has quests for most of the casts, each one asking for the cast itself and unlocking after the Casts quest. Some have short hints, such as a quest in "Silent Gear" for the basic sword and a quest in "Silent Gear" for the katana, which does more damage than a sword but is slower. a quest in "Silent Gear" explains that the Tip Upgrade raises a tool's mining level.[5]
Gem fluids from GeOre
Productive Metalworks melting recipes turn GeOre shards and blocks into this mod's gem fluids. Ruby gives Molten Ruby, Sapphire gives Molten Sapphire, and Topaz gives Molten Topaz. Each gem has a shard recipe and a block recipe.[6]
Item Melting (productivemetalworks)
Recipe id: productivemetalworks:melting/geore/ruby_shard
Uru Metal and the Allthemodium family
Molten Uru Metal is an alloy that the pack set up through Productive Metalworks. Its recipe takes Molten Allthemodium, Molten Unobtainium and Molten Vibranium, plus meat, a molten heavy core and molten Tyrian steel from tags. Check the recipe below for the exact inputs.[6]
Fluid Alloying (productivemetalworks)
90× Molten Allthemodium
90× Molten Unobtainium
90× Molten Vibranium
- 180× any meat
- 180× any molten heavy core
- 90× any molten tyrian steel
Recipe id: productivemetalworks:alloying/atm/molten_uru_metal
Once you have the molten alloy, you can cast it into an Uru Metal Ingot or an Uru Metal Nugget. For that you need the matching Productive Metalworks Ingot Cast or Nugget Cast.[6]
Item Casting (productivemetalworks)
Ingot Cast
- 90× any molten uru metal
Recipe id: productivemetalworks:casting/ingots/sgearmetalworks/uru_metal
The mod also has casting recipes that take a Tyrian Steel Ingot and molten Uru Metal and give an Uru Metal Ingot plus a Silent Gear part. They cover parts like the Axe Head and Katana Blade. The sources here only list these recipes up to the knife blade, so I can't confirm the rest.[6]
Item Casting (productivemetalworks)
Tyrian Steel Ingot
- 270× any molten uru metal
Recipe id: sgearmetalworks:casting/uru/axe_head
Productive Bees
Uru Metal also reaches into Productive Bees. The "Uru Metal Bee" quest quest tells you to pour Molten Uru over an Unobtainium Bee Spawn Egg. Its tasks include an Uru Metal Block, and it comes after another Productive Bees quest.[7]
Which All the Mods 10: To the Sky quests use Silent Gear Metalworks?
6 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10: To the Sky 2.0.4 guide
Silent Gear Metalworks shows up in two quest chapters: a big "Silent Gear" chapter built around casts, and one quest in the "Productive Bees" chapter that uses Uru metal.[2][3]
The Silent Gear chapter
Every quest here comes after the chapter's "Casts" quest, and each one has a single task: get the matching cast item. Nothing in the chapter sets an order between the cast quests, so once you've done "Casts" you can take them in any order you like.[2]
Several quests also explain what the tool or weapon does. Here they are, grouped by type.[2]
Melee weapons
- a quest in "Silent Gear" asks for the Sword Cast. The quest says it makes the basic sword, with reliable damage and speed.[2]
- a quest in "Silent Gear" asks for the Dagger Cast. The quest describes the dagger as low damage with very high attack speed, and says it reduces the target's invincibility time.[2]
- a quest in "Silent Gear" asks for the Knife Cast. The quest says the knife has higher durability than a dagger, but lower damage and speed.[2]
- a quest in "Silent Gear" asks for the Katana Cast. The quest says the katana does more damage than a sword, but is slower.[2]
- a quest in "Silent Gear" asks for the Machete Cast. The quest says the machete is slightly faster than a sword, but does lower damage.[2]
- a quest in "Silent Gear" asks for the Spear Cast. The quest says the spear does less damage than a sword, but has longer reach.[2]
- a quest in "Silent Gear" asks for the Trident Cast.[2]
Mining and utility tools
- a quest in "Silent Gear" asks for the Pickaxe Cast, a quest in "Silent Gear" for the Axe Cast, and a quest in "Silent Gear" for the Shovel Cast.[2]
- a quest in "Silent Gear" asks for the Paxel Cast. Its quest title describes it as a pickaxe, axe and shovel in one.[2]
- a quest in "Silent Gear" asks for the Mattock Cast.[2]
- a quest in "Silent Gear" asks for the Hammer Cast (titled 3x3 Mining), and a quest in "Silent Gear" asks for the Excavator Cast (titled 3x3 Digging).[2]
- a quest in "Silent Gear" asks for the Prospector Hammer Cast, a quest in "Silent Gear" for the Sickle Cast, a quest in "Silent Gear" for the Shears Cast, and a quest in "Silent Gear" for the Fishing Rod Cast.[2]
- a quest in "Silent Gear" asks for the Tool Rod Cast.[2]
- a quest in "Silent Gear" asks for the Tip Cast. The quest explains that the Tip Upgrade raises a tool's mining level. For example, an Iron Pickaxe with a Diamond Tip Upgrade can mine Obsidian and gets a stat boost.[2]
Ranged weapons and shield
- a quest in "Silent Gear" asks for the Bow Cast, a quest in "Silent Gear" for the Crossbow Cast, and a quest in "Silent Gear" for the Slingshot Cast.[2]
- a quest in "Silent Gear" asks for the Arrow Cast, and a quest in "Silent Gear" asks for the Shield Cast.[2]
Armor and jewelry
- Armor: a quest in "Silent Gear" asks for the Helmet Cast, a quest in "Silent Gear" for the Chestplate Cast, a quest in "Silent Gear" for the Leggings Cast, and a quest in "Silent Gear" for the Boots Cast.[2]
- Jewelry: a quest in "Silent Gear" asks for the Necklace Cast, a quest in "Silent Gear" for the Ring Cast, and a quest in "Silent Gear" for the Bracelet Cast.[2]
The Productive Bees chapter
"Uru Metal Bee" quest (Uru Metal Bee) is the other quest that uses this mod. Its description says to pour molten Uru over an Unobtainium Bee Spawn Egg. It has two tasks. The first accepts any one of several Productive Bees items: a configurable honeycomb, a configurable comb, a configurable bee spawn egg, a bee cage or a sturdy bee cage. The second asks for the Uru Metal Block. It unlocks after another quest in that chapter.[3]
