What is Gateways To Eternity?
Same as in the All the Mods 10 2.44 guide
Gateways To Eternity is included in this pack as version 5.0.2, built for Minecraft 1.21.1. It has been part of the pack for a while, so it isn't a recent addition.[1]
Unverified The available sources don't describe what Gateways To Eternity does, who it's aimed at, or where it fits in this pack's progression. Check the mod's own documentation or try it in-game for those details.
How do you get started with Gateways To Eternity?
2 parts
The first item to make from Gateways To Eternity is the Gate Pearl. It starts everything: you use it on a block to summon a Gateway.[2]
There is one placement rule. The pearl can only be used when the new Gateway would not be too close to another Gateway, based on the current spacing. If it won't work, move further from your existing Gateway and try again.[2]
Step 1: Craft a Gate Pearl
Every recipe from this mod in this pack produces a Gate Pearl. The recipe ids have names like basic/slime, basic/blaze and hellish_fortress, so pick whichever one suits the materials you have. Here they all are.[3]

Step 2: Use it on a block
Use the pearl on a block with enough room from other Gateways to summon a Gateway there. Rewards spawn from the Gateway as you obtain them, so you don't have to wait until the end to see loot.[2]
How does Gateways To Eternity work?
5 parts
Gateways To Eternity works differently from most modded systems. The sources here describe no machines, power or pipes. Instead you open a Gateway, deal with the mobs it sends out in waves, and collect the rewards. Everything below is what the sources confirm.[2]
Opening a Gateway
You summon a Gateway by using a Gate Pearl on a block. The pearl only works if the new Gateway wouldn't be too close to another Gateway, based on the current spacing. If there isn't room, you get the message "There's not enough space to open this Gateway".[2]
How a Gateway fails
An open Gateway fails in a burst of lightning if it cannot spawn a mob, if any active mob walks too far away, or if the wave timer elapses. The game tells you which one happened:[2]
- Not enough room for the next wave: "The Gateway imploded because there was not enough space to spawn the next wave".[2]
- A mob wandered off: "The Gateway imploded because a wave entity ran too far away".[2]
- The wave timer ran out: "Wave Timer Expired".[2]
- A wave entity was removed without being killed: "The Gateway imploded because an entity was removed without being killed".[2]
Rewards
Rewards spawn from the Gateway as they are obtained, so you don't have to wait until the very end to see them.[2]
Endless modifiers
The mod has tooltip text for Endless Modifiers: one line shows a modifier number out of a total, and another shows how many Endless Modifiers there are. The pack also has an endless recipe for the Gate Pearl. The sources don't explain what the modifiers do, so I can't say more about how they work.[2][3]
Crafting Gate Pearls
The pack has several Gate Pearl recipes, all of them the mod's own recipes of the type gateways:gate_recipe. Here they are exactly as the pack has them.[3]

How do you progress through Gateways To Eternity?
3 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 4.10 guide
The sources for this pack don't show a tier ladder for Gateways To Eternity. The recipe dump shows the mod making one item, the Gate Pearl. Every recipe listed is a gate recipe, and each one turns its own set of ingredients into a Gate Pearl.[4]
The only structure the sources give you is in the recipe ids. They fall into a basic/ group, an endless/ recipe, and standalone names. The sources don't rank these groups against each other, so use them to sort the recipes, not as a progression order.[4]
Basic gate pearls
The recipe ids with the basic/ prefix are named after blaze, enderman and slime. Here are the in-pack recipes for each one.[4]

Endless gate pearl
There is also a blaze recipe filed under endless/. Its id keeps it apart from the basic blaze recipe, but the sources don't say how these gateways differ in difficulty or rewards.[4]

Named gate pearls
The remaining recipes use standalone names: Emerald Grove, Hellish Fortress and Overworldian Nights. The sources don't place them in any tier order, so pick whichever gateway you want and check its recipe first.[4]
