What is Gateways To Eternity?
2 parts
Gateways To Eternity adds wave-based fights to the pack. You use a Gate Pearl to open a gateway, beat the monsters that come through, and collect the rewards at the end. The pack includes version 5.1.0 of the mod, and it has been here since 1.0 or earlier.[1][2][3]
Early game: free farm animals
You first meet the mod in Chapter 1 with the quest "Free Mobs!!!" quest. It unlocks after Hostile Mobs and asks you to fight off waves of monsters to get passive mobs and loot. You will need an Eye of Ender to make the pearl. The gate in this quest gives 6 of each farm animal, and different gates give different monsters and rewards.[3]
Mid to late game: World Tier gateways
In the Apotheosis Gear chapter, a quest in "Apotheosis Gear" explains that Apotheosis is integrated with Gateways. There is a gateway for each World Tier except Haven, and each one can only be used within its own tier. Beating the final wave gives rewards that help you finish that tier. Unlike other gateways, you get a total of 3 lives. The quest comes after World Tier: Frontier.[2]
At the top end, "&zGate Pearl - Endless Gateway of Apothic Invaders" quest unlocks after World Tier: Pinnacle. This Gate Pearl is obtained by clearing the Pinnacle Gateway, and it comes with the sacrifice of Craig the Eternal, a creature with a lot of health. It summons an endless stream of scaling waves, with less and less time between each one.[2]
How do you get started with Gateways To Eternity?
4 parts
Everything in Gateways To Eternity starts with one item: the Gate Pearl. You use it on a block to summon a Gateway, a fight against waves of monsters that pays out rewards as you go. In this pack, every Gate Pearl is crafted, and which recipe you use decides which Gateway you get.[4][5]
Know the rules before you pop one
- A Gate Pearl only works if the new Gateway wouldn't be too close to another one, based on the current spacing. Give yourself room.[4]
- An open Gateway fails in a burst of lightning if it can't spawn a mob, if any active mob walks too far away, or if the wave timer runs out.[4]
- Rewards spawn from the Gateway as you earn them, so stay close and be ready to collect.[4]
Step 1: Your first Gateway
The early quest "Free Mobs!!!" quest is your intro. It follows the Hostile Mobs quest and has you obtain a Gate Pearl. It warns that this is not easy, because you have to fight off waves of monsters and you need an Eye of Ender to make the pearl. The reward is worth it, since that Gateway gives 6 of each Farm Animal.[3]
Unverified The quest doesn't say which Gate Pearl recipe it refers to, so check the quest book in-game to see which Gateway it expects. This site does hold All the Mods 10: To the Sky's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.
Here are two of the pack's basic Gate Pearl recipes, which come straight from the mod. Different Gates give different monsters and rewards, so these are good ones to try early.[3][5]

The pack has more mod-made Gate Pearl recipes too, including the enderman, blaze, endless blaze, Hellish Fortress and Overworldian Nights ones. Which monsters and rewards each one gives isn't confirmed in my sources, so look at the pearl's tooltip in-game before you spend the materials.[5]

Step 2: World Tier Gateways
Apotheosis is integrated with Gateways. There are Gateways for each World Tier except Haven, and each one can only be used in its own tier. When you beat the final wave you get rewards that help you finish that tier. Unlike other Gateways, you only get 3 lives here, so don't rush in.[2]
The pack changed the Gate Pearl recipes for these tiers. They start with the Frontier one, which is also the tier the related quest a quest in "Apotheosis Gear" follows.[2][5]

The Ascent, Summit and Pinnacle pearls are also pack-changed recipes. Craft each one when you reach that tier.[2][5]

Step 3: The endless endgame
Clearing the Pinnacle Gateway gives you a special Gate Pearl, covered in "&zGate Pearl - Endless Gateway of Apothic Invaders" quest. It summons an endless stream of increasingly scaling waves, with less and less time between each one. Invaders can come from any dimension, so you can get gems normally exclusive to other dimensions, like Endersurge Gems outside The End. The quest also mentions a reward if you can beat 100 waves, but the text is cut off in my sources.[2]
How does Gateways To Eternity work?
7 parts
Gateways To Eternity is all about the Gate Pearl. You use one on a block to summon a Gateway to Eternity. Here is what the sources confirm about how that works in this pack.[4]
Opening a Gateway
A Gate Pearl summons a Gateway when you use it on a block. It only works if the new Gateway would not be too close to another Gateway, based on the current spacing. If there is not enough room, you get the message "There's not enough space to open this Gateway".[4]
How a Gateway can fail
An open Gateway fails in a burst of lightning if it cannot spawn a mob, if any active mob walks too far away, or if the wave timer elapses. The mod also has a specific message for each way a Gateway can collapse:[4]
- No player nearby: the Gateway implodes because there was no player close by.[4]
- Out of lives: it implodes because you ran out of lives.[4]
- Too far: it implodes because a wave entity ran too far away.[4]
- Wave timer: you see "Wave Timer Expired" when the timer runs out.[4]
- No room for the next wave: it implodes because there was not enough space to spawn the next wave.[4]
- Entity removed: it implodes because an entity was removed without being killed, so kill your wave mobs rather than getting rid of them some other way.[4]
Endless Gateways
The mod includes tooltip text for Endless Modifiers, shown both as a count and as a current/total figure. There is also an endless Gate Pearl recipe, listed below.[4][5]
Getting Gate Pearls
The pack has many ways to make a Gate Pearl. The mod's own recipes use the gateways:gate_recipe type, while the tiered recipes under the apotheosis namespace are crafting recipes that the pack changed.[5]

How do you progress through Gateways To Eternity?
3 parts
Gateways To Eternity progression in this pack is built around the Gate Pearl. Each pearl opens a different gateway that throws waves of monsters at you, and clearing it pays out rewards. Early on you use the mod's own gate recipes. Later the gateways are tied to the Apotheosis World Tiers.[2][3]
Early game: the basic gateways
Your first stop is the quest "Free Mobs!!!" quest in Chapter 1, which comes after the Hostile Mobs quest. It treats gateways as a way to get passive mobs and loot: you fight off waves of monsters, and different gates give different monsters and rewards. This one gives 6 of each farm animal. The quest also says you need an Eye of Ender to make the pearl.[3]
These are the mod's own gate recipes for the Gate Pearl, as they appear in the pack's recipe list:[5]

Tiered gateways
Once you reach World Tier Frontier, the quest a quest in "Apotheosis Gear" in the Apotheosis Gear chapter explains that Apotheosis is integrated with Gateways. There is a gateway for each World Tier except Haven. Each one sends waves of monsters and Invaders, and beating the final wave gives a variety of rewards that help you finish that World Tier.[2]
The pack changed the Gate Pearl recipes for the tiered gateways, so don't rely on mod defaults. These are the in-pack versions:[5]

Endgame: the endless gateway
After World Tier Pinnacle, the quest "&zGate Pearl - Endless Gateway of Apothic Invaders" quest unlocks. It also comes after the Frontier gateway quest above. This Gate Pearl isn't crafted. You get it by clearing the Pinnacle Gateway, and it comes with the sacrifice of Craig the Eternal, a creature with a lot of health.[2]
The endless gateway summons an endless stream of increasingly scaling waves, with less and less time between each one. It can spawn Invaders from any dimension, not just the one you use it in. That means you can get gems normally exclusive to other dimensions, such as Endersurge Gems outside of The End. The quest sets a goal of beating 100 waves.[2]
How does Gateways To Eternity work with other mods?
4 parts
Gateways To Eternity connects to the rest of the pack mainly through Apotheosis and Apothic Enchanting. In this pack, the Gate Pearl, the item that opens a gateway, is crafted from loot and materials from those two mods.[2][5]
Crafting Gate Pearls
The Gate Pearl recipes are all registered under Apotheosis, and the pack has changed every one of them. The Pinnacle recipe also uses items from Apothic Enchanting. Here they are exactly as the pack has them:[5]

How the quests describe it
The quest a quest in "Apotheosis Gear" says Apotheosis is integrated with Gateways. There are gateways based on each World Tier except Haven, and they send waves of monsters and Invaders at you. Each one only works within its own World Tier.[2]
When you beat the final wave you get a variety of rewards that help you finish that World Tier. Unlike other gateways, you only get 3 lives, so don't rush in.[2]
The endless Pinnacle gateway
The quest "&zGate Pearl - Endless Gateway of Apothic Invaders" quest covers a special Gate Pearl that you get by clearing the Pinnacle Gateway instead of crafting it. It comes with the sacrifice of Craig the Eternal, a creature with a lot of health.[2]
This gateway summons an endless stream of waves that keep scaling up, with less and less time between each one. It can spawn Invaders from any dimension, not just the one you used it in. That means you can get gems normally exclusive to other dimensions, such as Endersurge Gems outside of The End. The quest text mentions a reward for beating 100 waves, but the text is cut off, so I can't confirm what it is.[2]
A farm-animal gateway
The quest "Free Mobs!!!" quest points you to a gateway that gives 6 of each Farm Animal. It says you need an Eye of Ender to make it, and that different gates give different rewards and monsters.[3]
Which All the Mods 10: To the Sky quests use Gateways To Eternity?
4 parts
Gateways shows up in two quest chapters in this pack, and every quest asks you to handle a Gate Pearl. One is early in the game, and the other is part of the Apotheosis progression.[2][3]
Chapter 1: Starting out
The first one you'll meet is "Free Mobs!!!" quest, which unlocks after the Hostile Mobs quest. It asks for a Gate Pearl. The quest text says you need to fight off waves of monsters and that you'll need an Eye of Ender to make the pearl. Different Gates give different rewards and monsters, and this one gives 6 of each farm animal.[3]
Apotheosis Gear
Later, the Apotheosis Gear chapter brings Gateways back. a quest in "Apotheosis Gear" comes after the World Tier: Frontier quest and also asks for a Gate Pearl. It explains that Apotheosis is integrated with Gateways here. There are Gateways for each World Tier except Haven, and each one only works within its own World Tier.[2]
These Gateways send waves of monsters and Invaders at you. Beating the final wave gives rewards that help you finish that World Tier. Unlike other Gateways, you only get 3 lives.[2]
The endless Gateway
The last one is "&zGate Pearl - Endless Gateway of Apothic Invaders" quest. It unlocks after a quest in "Apotheosis Gear" and the World Tier: Pinnacle quest. It lists two Gate Pearl tasks. This pearl isn't crafted. You get it by clearing the Pinnacle Gateway, and it comes with the sacrifice of Craig the Eternal, a creature with a lot of health.[2]
This Gateway summons an endless stream of waves that scale up, with less and less time between each one. It can spawn Invaders from any dimension, not just the one you used it in. That means you can get gems normally exclusive to other dimensions, such as Endersurge Gems outside of The End. The quest text mentions a reward if you can beat 100 waves, but the text is cut off, so the reward itself is unverified.[2]
Order at a glance
