What is Apothic Enchanting?
1 part
This pack includes Apothic Enchanting 1.4.4. It changes how enchanting works: the pack's quest book says 15 bookshelves won't be enough any more, and that there are new bookshelves and new things you can do with an enchanting table.[1][2]
What the table offers is decided by three stats: Eterna, Quanta and Arcana. Quanta mixes up the enchantment pool, but the more you have, the more common bad enchantments like Curse of Binding become. Arcana increases how many enchantments you get and makes rare ones more common. The Hellshelf is your first source of Quanta (3% Quanta and 3 Eterna), and the Seashelf is your first source of Arcana (3% Arcana and 3 Eterna).[2]
Where it sits in the quest book
The mod has its own chapter, "Apothic Enchanting", with 44 quests. It opens with "Apothic Enchanting" quest, which asks for an enchanting table. The shelf quests then follow a quest called Infusing, and the rest of the chapter branches from there.[2]
- Hellshelf line: "Hellshelves" quest, then "Infused Hellshelves" quest, which leads on to "Blazing Hellshelf" quest and "Enchanting Clues" quest.[2]
- Seashelf line: "Seashelves" quest, then "Infused Seashelf" quest, which leads on to "Crystalline Seashelf" quest, "Remove Enchantments from Pool" quest and "Heart-Forged Seashelf" quest.[2]
- Tomes: the armor, tool, weapon and other tome quests all come after a quest called Tomes. The scrapping chain runs "Tome of Scrapping" quest, then "Tome of Superior Scrapping" quest, then a quest in "Apothic Enchanting".[2]
- Storage: "Enchantment Library" quest comes first, and "Library of Alexandria" quest comes after it and after a quest called Other Infusion Items.[2]
The quest book describes only part of the chapter here. The rest of its quests are in the quest book itself, so check there for them.[2]
How do you get started with Apothic Enchanting?
4 parts
Welcome to Apothic Enchanting! In this pack the quest chapter starts at the Enchanting Table. It says 15 Bookshelves won't be enough with this mod, and that normal Bookshelves alone only get Eterna up to a max of 30. So the first job is to make better shelves.[2]
Step 1: Make your first shelves
The quest book's first shelf is the Hellshelf. It calls it your introduction to Quanta and says it gives 3% Quanta and 3 Eterna. The quest asks you to collect 16: 15 around the table and 1 in your inventory. Make the first 11 and the quest gives you the last 5.[2]

If you would rather avoid the Nether, the quest book offers the Seashelf as the other route. It describes it as your introduction to Arcana, with 3% Arcana and 3 Eterna, and again asks for 16, with extras as a reward after 11.[2]

Step 2: Infuse your 16th shelf
The quest book describes Infusion as a special version of enchanting. When the table reaches the right amount of Eterna, Quanta and Arcana, the enchantments offer Infusion. With 15 Hellshelves around the table, the quest says you have 45 Eterna and 30% Quanta, which is the right amount to infuse the one in your inventory.[2]

For the Seashelf route the quest does the same with 15 Seashelves and one to infuse. It says the Infused Seashelf and Infused Hellshelf each give 5 Eterna with a max of 60.[2]

Step 3: Upgrade towards the Deepshelf
The quest book says infused shelves can be crafted into stronger ones. It points you to the Glowing Hellshelf or the Crystalline Seashelf, and asks you to collect 8 of the matching infused shelf, rewarding the rest of the 12 it wants.[2]

The quest's goal for those 12 shelves is to infuse a Dormant Deepshelf into a regular Deepshelf. It says this is where the Hellshelf and Seashelf paths meet.[2]

Where to go next
After the Deepshelf, the quest book branches into the Echoing and Soul-Touched upgrades. They lead to Infused Dragon's Breath, then the Endshelves, and finally the Draconic Endshelf, which the quest says has a max Eterna of 100.[2]
If you want somewhere to store your enchanted books on the way, the quest book describes the Enchantment Library as storage for Enchanted Books.[2]

How does Apothic Enchanting work?
7 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 7.0 guide
Apothic Enchanting is built around the enchanting table, not around machines. The mod's tooltips describe a stat system, a set of bookshelf blocks that feed it, and a few storage and extraction tools. Here is how those pieces work.[4]
Raising the level cap
Enchanting tables can now exceed 30 levels, and some enchantments only show up past level 30. The mod has advancements for enchanting at levels 30, 60, 80 and 100, so the high end is meant to be reachable.[4]
The three stats
The enchanting screen shows three stats, and the bookshelves around the table push them up.[4]
- Eterna sets the max enchanting level. The screen shows your current value against the maximum.[4]
- Arcana makes rare enchantments more common and increases the number of enchantments you get.[4]
- Quanta increases the underlying randomness. The screen also says it lessens the negative effects.[4]
Some shelves are tagged as providing Quantic Stability. There are advancements for enchanting at 0%, 50% and 100% Quanta, and for hitting max Eterna and Arcana with 0% Quanta.[4]
Shelves
The shelves form upgrade chains. The basic ones are the Hellshelf, the Beeshelf and the Melonshelf, and the higher tiers are built from the tier below. Here is the Beeshelf recipe as an example.[5]

- Nether line: the Infused Hellshelf comes from Infusion Enchanting, and it then upgrades into the Blazing Hellshelf or the Glowing Hellshelf.[4][5]
- Sea line: the Infused Seashelf also comes from Infusion Enchanting. It upgrades into the Crystalline Seashelf, the Heart-Forged Seashelf or the Seashelf of Aquatic Filtration.[4][5]
- End line: you need Infused Dragon's Breath to make the Endshelf. The Endshelf then upgrades into the Draconic Endshelf or the Pearlescent Endshelf.[4][5]
- Deep line: the Dormant Deepshelf has to be activated, and it becomes the Deepshelf. That upgrades into the Echoing Deepshelf, which in turn goes into the Echoing Sculkshelf using a Warden Tendril.[4][5]

Seashelf of Aquatic Filtration
You insert enchanted books into the Seashelf of Aquatic Filtration to stop those enchantments from appearing in the table. It also gains Eterna and Arcana based on how many books you put in. That makes it a good way to cut out enchantments you don't want.[4][5]

Enchantment Library
The Enchantment Library stores enchantments. Insert an enchanted book to deposit it. Left-click a stored enchantment to take out one level, or shift-click to take the max level available.[4][5]
Tooltips on the library show how many enchantments it stores, the points stored against its capacity, and the max level available. They also warn you when the next level is unavailable.[4]

Tomes
The type tomes each accept one category of enchantments. These are the Tome of Helmets, Tome of Chestplates, Tome of Legplates, Tome of Boots, Tome of the Miners, Tome of the Fishers, Tome of the Archers and Tome of the Others. The Other tome covers miscellaneous enchantments.[4][5]
The Tome of Scrapping extracts half of the enchantments from an item and destroys the item in the process.[4][5]
The mod's text also describes an improved scrap tome that extracts all enchantments and destroys the item. It describes an extraction tome that extracts all enchantments without destroying the item. You can also build an Altar of the Seas, which turns unwanted enchanted items into a new book.[4]
Utility items
The Prismatic Cobweb can be used to remove curses.[4][5]
Ender leads capture and move entities. The Flimsy Ender Lead only handles animals. The full Ender Lead handles most entities, and the Occult Ender Lead can also bind them to Mob Spawners. The pack changed the Flimsy Ender Lead recipe from the mod's version, so use the one below.[4][5]

How do you progress through Apothic Enchanting?
8 parts
The Apothic Enchanting progression in this pack follows the quest chapter "Apothic Enchanting", which starts at the plain Enchanting Table. The quest book says 15 Bookshelves won't be enough now, and that with only normal Bookshelves Eterna can only reach a max of 30. So you climb a ladder of better shelves instead. The stat numbers below are the quest book's own figures, so read them as its guidance for this pack.[2]
The three stats
Every shelf you place around the table adds to three stats, and the quest book explains each one. Eterna sets the enchantment level, which decides what you can get. The quest says it defaults to 0 and maxes at 50. Quanta mixes up the enchantment pool, but the quest warns that more of it makes bad enchantments like Curse of Binding more common. It gives a default of 15% and a max of 100%. Arcana increases how many enchantments you get and makes rare ones more common, with a default of 0% and a max of 100%.[2]
The quest book says that when the Eterna, Quanta and Arcana reach what an infusion needs, the table offers Infusion. Most of the good shelves in the quest chain are made this way, by infusing a cheaper shelf. The quest "Infusing" quest explains it, and the rest of the chapter hangs off it.[2]
Tier 1: Hellshelves and Seashelves
You choose a side first. The quest book describes Hellshelf as your introduction to Quanta, giving 3% Quanta and 3 Eterna. It describes Seashelf as your introduction to Arcana, giving 3% Arcana and 3 Eterna. The quests are "Hellshelves" quest and "Seashelves" quest.[2]

The quest asks you to put 15 of them around the table, which it says gives 45 Eterna and, for Hellshelves, 30% Quanta. That is the set-up it suggests for infusing the 16th shelf into an Infused Hellshelf or Infused Seashelf. The quest says each Infused shelf gives 5 Eterna with a max of 60, plus 5% Quanta or 5% Arcana depending on the side.[2]

Tier 2: crafting the Infused shelves further
The quest book treats Infused shelves as crafting ingredients for the next step. It says Glowing Hellshelf keeps the same Eterna and Quanta and adds 3% Arcana. It says Crystalline Seashelf keeps 5 Eterna and 5% Arcana and adds 3% Quanta. The quests ask for 12 of either one for the Deepshelf step.[2]

There are side branches too. The quest book says Heart-Forged Seashelf gives lots of Arcana for later infusions. It says Seashelf of Aquatic Filtration lets you blacklist an enchantment from the pool by placing its book in the shelf. It calls Blazing Hellshelf not the cheap option for infusions. The enchanting clue shelves, Hellshelf of Sight and Hellshelf of Masterful Sight, are described as each telling you one enchantment before you use the table.[2]

Tier 3: Deepshelves
Here the quest book merges the Hellshelf and Seashelf paths. You craft a Dormant Deepshelf, then infuse it into a Deepshelf. The quest gives 60 Eterna, 40% Quanta and 40% Arcana as the target, and says 12 Crystalline Seashelves or 12 Glowing Hellshelves reach it. See "Deepshelf" quest.[2]

Recipe id: apothic_enchanting:dormant_deepshelf
The quest book then splits Deepshelves into two crafted upgrades. It says Echoing Deepshelf gives 15% Arcana and raises max Eterna to 75, and Soul-Touched Deepshelf gives 15% Quanta and also raises max Eterna to 75. The Echoing version uses Echo Shards, and the quest suggests Ancient Cities as the best chance to find them.[2]

Tier 4: Sculkshelves
The quest book says the next step is crafting, not infusion, and that it involves killing the Warden for a Warden Tendril. It describes Soul-Touched Sculkshelf as giving 10 Eterna, 15% Quanta and 10% Arcana, and Echoing Sculkshelf as giving 10 Eterna, 10% Quanta and 15% Arcana. Both are said to raise the max Eterna to 80.[2]

Tier 5: the End shelves
With max Eterna 80 the quest book moves on to infusing Dragon's Breath. It suggests 4 Echoing Sculkshelves, 4 Soul-Touched Sculkshelves and 6 Geode-Encased Bookshelves of Stability, which it says gives 80 Eterna, 25% Quanta and 100% Arcana. In the pack's recipe, one infusion turns Dragon's Breath into 3 Infused Dragon's Breath. See "Infused Dragon's Breath" quest.[2][3]
Infusion (apothic_enchanting)
Recipe id: apothic_enchanting:infusion/infused_breath
The quest book says the Geode-Encased Bookshelf of Stability removes the increased chance of worse enchantments that high Quanta brings, though you can still get curses at a much lower rate. It also says Budding Amethyst cannot be mined, even with Silk Touch, so you need a ritual or an infusion.[2]

The quest book says the stats of Endshelf aren't currently the best, only 5 of each, but its max Eterna of 90 is the draw. It describes Pearlescent Endshelf as an alright shelf for the price, also with max Eterna 90, but not what you want for max enchanting. It says Draconic Endshelf only gives Eterna but has a max of 100.[2]

The final set-up
The last quest, "Best Enchanting set-up" quest, asks for Soul-Touched Sculkshelves and Echoing Sculkshelves for Quanta and Arcana, a Draconic Endshelf for 100 Eterna, and a Geode-Encased Bookshelf of Stability so Quanta doesn't hand you awful enchantments. It also recommends the optional Deepshelf of Arcane Treasures, which the quest says allows enchantments you normally wouldn't get, like Mending.[2]

Other infusion upgrades
- The quest book says Tome of Scrapping takes half the enchantments off an item and breaks it. Infusing it gives Tome of Superior Scrapping (4 per infusion in the pack's recipe), which the quest says removes every enchantment and also breaks the item.[2][3]
- Infusing the Superior Scrapping tome gives Tome of Extraction (4 per infusion in the pack's recipe), which the quest says takes off all enchantments and leaves the item intact.[2][3]
- Infusing the Enchantment Library gives Library of Alexandria. The quest says the Library stores 32,768 points per book and the Library of Alexandria stores 1.1 billion.[2][3]

Which All the Mods 10: To the Sky quests use Apothic Enchanting?
6 parts
Everything for this mod sits in one chapter of the pack's quest book, called Apothic Enchanting. It opens with a short tutorial and then branches into shelves, tomes and infusion quests. The quest descriptions read like a friendly walkthrough, so following them in order is a good way to learn the system. Everything below is what the quests ask for and say, as the quest book gives it.[2]
The opening quests
- "Apothic Enchanting" quest is the chapter opener and asks for an Enchanting Table. Its text says that 15 Bookshelves won't be enough now.[2]
- "Vanilla Max is just the start" quest comes next. Its text says that with only normal Bookshelves you can get Eterna up to a max of 30.[2]
- "Infusing" quest follows. Its text introduces Infusion, which it says is offered once the right amounts of Eterna, Quanta and Arcana are reached.[2]
"Enchantment Library" quest (Enchantment Library) asks for the Enchantment Library. The chapter lists no prerequisite for it.[2]
Branches after Infusing
After "Infusing" quest, the chapter lists eight quests that follow it: "Hellshelves" quest, "Eterna" quest, "Other Infusion Items" quest, "Tomes" quest, "Negative Enchantments Removal" quest, "Quanta" quest, "Arcana" quest and "Seashelves" quest. The Eterna, Quanta and Arcana quests explain the three stats. "Negative amounts" quest follows all three and asks for the Beeshelf, Stoneshelf and Melonshelf. Its text says each one lowers its respective stat, for infusions that need very exact amounts.[2]
Hellshelf and Seashelf lines
- "Hellshelves" quest asks for the Hellshelf, which its text describes as giving 3% Quanta and 3 Eterna. "Infused Hellshelves" quest then asks for 5 Infused Hellshelf.[2]
- Three quests follow Infused Hellshelves: "Blazing Hellshelf" quest, "Glowing Hellshelf" quest and "Enchanting Clues" quest. The last asks for the Hellshelf of Sight and the Hellshelf of Masterful Sight.[2]
- "Seashelves" quest asks for the Seashelf, which its text describes as giving 3% Arcana and 3 Eterna. "Infused Seashelf" quest follows and asks for the Infused Seashelf.[2]
- Three quests follow Infused Seashelf: "Crystalline Seashelf" quest, "Remove Enchantments from Pool" quest and "Heart-Forged Seashelf" quest.[2]
Deepshelves up to the End
- "Deepshelf" quest needs both Glowing Hellshelf and Crystalline Seashelf done first. It asks for the Deepshelf, and its text gives 60 Eterna, 40% Quanta and 40% Arcana as what the infusion needs.[2]
- "Echoing Deepshelf" quest and "Soul-Touched Deepshelf" quest both come after Deepshelf. Their texts say each raises max Eterna to 75.[2]
- "Echoing Sculkshelf" quest follows Echoing Deepshelf, and "Soul-Touched Sculkshelf" quest follows Soul-Touched Deepshelf. Both texts give a max Eterna of 80.[2]
- "Infused Dragon's Breath" quest needs Echoing Sculkshelf, Soul-Touched Sculkshelf and Negative Enchantments Removal. Its text says the suggested setup gives 80 Eterna, 25% Quanta and 100% Arcana.[2]
- "Endshelves" quest comes next, and its text gives a max Eterna of 90. After it, "Draconic Endshelf" quest (text gives a max Eterna of 100) and "Pearlescent Endshelf" quest both follow.[2]
- "Best Enchanting set-up" quest follows Draconic Endshelf. It asks for the full setup: the Soul-Touched and Echoing Sculkshelves, the Draconic Endshelf, the Geode-Encased Bookshelf of Stability, and the Deepshelf of Arcane Treasures, which its text calls optional.[2]
Tomes
"Tomes" quest opens the tome branch. These quests follow it: "Tome of Scrapping" quest, "Armor Tomes" quest, "Tool Tomes" quest, "Weapon Tomes" quest and "ETC. Tomes" quest. The last one asks for the Tome of the Others.[2]
The scrapping line then continues: "Tome of Superior Scrapping" quest needs Other Infusion Items and Tome of Scrapping, and a quest in "Apothic Enchanting" needs Other Infusion Items and Tome of Superior Scrapping. The text of the Extraction quest says the Tome of Extraction takes off all enchantments and leaves the item alone.[2]
Other infusion quests
"Other Infusion Items" quest leads to a group of infusion quests: "Making Budding Amethyst" quest, "Making a real Trident" quest, "Unbreakable Charms" quest, "Crafting EXP?" quest and "Infinite Echo Shards?" quest. The Trident quest asks for the Inert Trident. "Library of Alexandria" quest needs both Enchantment Library and Other Infusion Items, and asks for the Library of Alexandria.[2]
