What is KubeJS?

2 parts

This pack includes KubeJS version 2101.7.2 for NeoForge, and it has been in the pack since 0.3.0-beta or earlier. You never craft or place KubeJS itself. What you notice are the items registered under the kubejs namespace, which show up in several quest chapters.[1]

Where you'll meet KubeJS items

The ATM Star shard quests

Each shard quest in the Creative chapter comes after another quest. The top part ("Top ATM Star part" quest) follows the Soul Binding Crystal, and the right part ("Right ATM Star part" quest) follows the Whirlwind Prism. The bottom right part ("Bottom Right ATM Star part" quest) follows the Smelter Prism, and the bottom left part ("Bottom Left ATM Star part" quest) follows the Sea Prism. The left part ("Left ATM Star part" quest) follows the Terrastomp Prism.[5]

Unverified Whether KubeJS is part of the ATM Star quest path beyond these shard quests, and how the shards are obtained, is not shown by the sources here.

How do you get started with KubeJS?

4 parts

KubeJS doesn't hand you a starter tool or a first-night recipe. In this pack it's the script layer that adds custom recipes, a handful of custom items and the Ponder scenes for the Mekanism multiblocks. So "getting started" here means knowing which KubeJS items matter and which ones to chase first.[2][6][7]

What to aim for, in order

  1. Start with the Infinity Cells quest "More Resources than you ever need: Infinity Cells" quest. It describes cells that give you a limitless supply of one resource, and it accepts any of the pack's KubeJS cells or the ExtendedAE water and cobblestone infinity cells. It's the easiest way to see what this group of items is for.[2]
  2. Build the Gravel Cell first. The pack's Sand Cell recipe uses a Gravel Cell as an input, so gravel comes before sand. Both recipes are below.[6]
  3. Plan for Magical Soil before you start Mystical Agriculture's top-tier seeds. The Allthemodium, Vibranium and Unobtainium seed quests all list it as a task.[3]
  4. Look at Generalized Starlight Prediction once you reach the Hostile Neural Networks chapter. Its quest says it makes various Starlight Materials and comes after the Simulating Deaths quest.[4]
  5. Keep the five ATM Star shards in mind as a long-term goal. They are kubejs:atm_star_shard_1 through kubejs:atm_star_shard_5, and each has its own quest in the Creative chapter.[5]

Gravel and Sand Cells

The pack adds these cell recipes through KubeJS. Here are the exact in-pack versions for the first two.[6]

Magical Soil

The pack adds the Magical Soil recipe itself. The Mystical Agriculture quests say the seeds need it placed below them to grow.[3][6]

Tip: Check the ingredients in these recipe blocks before you commit. The Magical Soil quests come after the Insanium Farmland and Infusion Altar quests, so that's the point to plan for it.[3][6]

Ponder scenes

The pack's KubeJS scripts also add Ponder scenes for Mekanism multiblocks. They cover the Fission Reactor, Fusion Reactor, Induction Matrix, Supercritical Phase Shifter and Industrial Turbine. Open them in-game when you get to those machines.[7]

Unverified The recipes for the five ATM Star shards and for Starlight Prediction weren't available in the sources, so check them in-game before you plan around them.

How does KubeJS work?

8 parts

KubeJS is a scripting mod, so it doesn't add machines of its own. In this pack it does two jobs that matter for mechanics: it shows in-game Ponder scenes that teach you how to build Mekanism multiblocks, and it adds custom recipes for a few materials. The sources don't cover KubeJS's own settings or scripting API, so this section sticks to those two jobs.[6][7]

Multiblocks taught by Ponder scenes

The pack ships Ponder scenes for five Mekanism multiblocks. Open them in game for the full visual, and use the notes below as a quick checklist. In every scene, ports can be changed with a configurator.[7]

Fission Reactor

  • The edges must be casings, and the walls must be either casings or glass.[7]
  • Place Fuel Assembly blocks inside to make fuel rods, then put a Control Rod Assembly on top of each rod. The control rod assemblies sit 1 block from the ceiling.[7]
  • Fuel rods cannot touch each other. If you build several, a checkerboard pattern works best.[7]
  • The reactor needs at least 4 ports. One of the port modes is Output Heated Coolant.[7]
  • Logic Adapters give you redstone control. Right-click one to open its configuration.[7]

For a fail-safe, use two Logic Adapters. Set one to Activation and the other to Damage Critical. When the reactor reaches critical damage it gives off a redstone signal. The scene uses that signal to fire a piston carrying gravel or sand, which triggers an observer and turns the reactor off.[7]

Industrial Turbine

The turbine turns Heated Coolant into power. The edges must be Turbine Casings. The faces can be casings, structural glass, valves or vents. Valves pump steam in or export power.[7]

  1. Place the Turbine Rotors in the middle. Each rotor uses 2 Turbine Blades.[7]
  2. Put a Rotational Complex on top of the rotor.[7]
  3. Fill the layer around the Rotational Complex with Pressure Dispersers.[7]
  4. From that layer up, you can use Turbine Vents on the outer faces. They also export water from the turbine.[7]
  5. Place Electromagnetic Coils on top of the Rotational Complex.[7]
  6. Optionally add Saturating Condensers, which convert steam back into water. They must sit on or above the coil layer. The top face can also be swapped for Turbine Vents if you need that.[7]

Induction Matrix

The Induction Matrix stores a huge amount of power. The edges must be casings, and the faces can be casings or structural glass. Ports transfer power. Induction Cells increase storage and Induction Providers increase the transfer rate. The matrix must have at least one cell and one provider.[7]

Fusion Reactor

The Fusion Reactor can generate millions of RF per tick. The controller must go in the middle of the top face. You need a port for exporting power and two ports for inputting deuterium.[7]

  1. Put a Hohlraum filled with D-T fuel in the controller.[7]
  2. Fire 400MRF of lasers into the Laser Matrix. The Laser Amplifier needs its red face pointing toward the matrix.[7]
  3. Feed the reactor fuel. It mixes the D-T fuel at a set rate when the two are pumped in separately.[7]

Supercritical Phase Shifter (SPS)

The SPS converts polonium into antimatter gas and uses a large amount of power to do it. On one side you need a port in the middle to input power, with a Supercharged Coil placed on it inside. You can use multiple Supercharged Coils for higher power usage. You also need one port to input polonium and another to export antimatter.[7]

Pack-added ore processing chains

The pack adds Mekanism-style processing chains for two materials, Azure Silver and Crimson Iron. Each stage uses a standard Mekanism machine type, and the intermediate products are KubeJS items and slurries. The Azure Silver chain, which is fully shown in the recipe dump, runs like this:[6]

The pack added every one of these recipes. They are not mod defaults. Here are the crystal and clump steps as they work in this pack:[6]

Magical Soil

Magical Soil is a shaped crafting recipe added by the pack. It is a late-game craft that takes a long list of rare items, so open the recipe below to see the exact layout.[6]

Unverified The sources don't explain what Magical Soil is used for, and they don't give power or throughput numbers for the processing machines. Check those in game.

How do you progress through KubeJS?

4 parts

The KubeJS items in this pack come from recipes the pack itself adds. The quest book and recipes show where they appear in your progression, so here is the path, quest by quest.[6]

Magical tier farming

In the Mystical Agriculture chapter, the Magical-tier quests for Allthemodium, Vibranium and Unobtainium seeds all come after Insanium Farmland and the Infusion Altar. Each one tells you the seeds need Magical Soil placed below them to grow, so this soil is your gate to those crops.[3]

The pack gives you two ways to get Magical Soil, and both recipes are added by the pack. One is a shaped crafting recipe and the other is an infusion recipe.[6]

Infinity Cells

In the Extended & Advanced AE chapter, the quest "More Resources than you ever need: Infinity Cells" quest covers a limitless supply of one resource in a single cell. It accepts any of the pack's KubeJS cells, such as Lava Cell, Dirt Cell or Sky Stone Cell, as well as the two ExtendedAE infinity cells for water and cobblestone.[2]

All of these cells are crafted with pack-added recipes. Two of them chain off other cells: the gravel cell recipe uses the ExtendedAE infinity cobblestone cell, and the sand cell recipe uses the gravel cell. Build them in that order.[6]

The gravel cell uses the infinity cobblestone cell.

ATM Star shards

The Creative chapter has five quests, one for each ATM Star part. Each asks you to hand in a numbered shard item, and each unlocks after a different earlier quest:[5]

  1. Top part: kubejs:atm_star_shard_1, after the Soul Binding Crystal quest.[5]
  2. Right part: kubejs:atm_star_shard_2, after the Whirlwind Prism quest.[5]
  3. Bottom right part: kubejs:atm_star_shard_3, after the Smelter Prism quest.[5]
  4. Bottom left part: kubejs:atm_star_shard_4, after the Sea Prism quest.[5]
  5. Left part: kubejs:atm_star_shard_5, after the Terrastomp Prism quest.[5]

Other pack-added items

The quest a quest in "Hostile Neural Networks" in the Hostile Neural Networks chapter unlocks after Simulating Deaths and covers Generalized Starlight Prediction, which it describes as making various Starlight Materials.[4]

The pack also adds an Azure Silver processing line built from Mekanism machine recipes. It covers purifying, injecting, washing, crystallizing and crushing, and produces items like Azure Silver Clump, Azure Silver Crystal and Azure Silver Shard.[6]

How does KubeJS work with other mods?

7 parts

In this pack, KubeJS adds custom items and recipes under the kubejs namespace, and many of them tie other mods together. Everything below comes from recipes and quests the pack adds.[6]

Applied Energistics 2 and its add-ons

The biggest link is the Inscriber Universal Press. It's a pack-made item that the Inscriber recipes below use in place of the separate presses. You craft it from AE2's Inscriber presses and some other items.[6]

The Inscriber recipes that use the press produce printed circuits from several different mods. From AE2 you get Printed Silicon, Printed Calculation Circuit, Printed Engineering Circuit and Printed Logic Circuit. The add-ons contribute Printed Concurrent Circuit from ExtendedAE, Printed Accumulation Circuit from MEGA Cells, Printed Energy Circuit from Applied Flux and Printed Quantum Circuit from Advanced AE.[6]

The press also unlocks ExtendedAE's Circuit Slicer. The pack gives it a Crystal Assembler recipe that needs the Universal Press.[6]

Infinity cells

KubeJS also adds a whole family of infinity cells, such as Dirt Cell, Basalt Cell, End Stone Cell and Ancient Stone Cell. Their recipes pull from AE2, MEGA Cells, All the Modium, All The Compressed and vanilla. The quest "More Resources than you ever need: Infinity Cells" quest accepts any of these cells, along with ExtendedAE's own infinity water and cobblestone cells. It describes them as cells that give a limitless supply of a certain type of resource.[2][6]

Mystical Agriculture and Immersive Engineering

Magical Soil is the key to the top-tier resource seeds. The quests for Allthemodium, Vibranium and Unobtainium seeds all say the seeds need Magical Soil placed below them to grow. See a quest in "Mystical Agriculture", a quest in "Mystical Agriculture" and a quest in "Mystical Agriculture".[3]

Its recipe spans All The Compressed, All the Modium, Mystical Agriculture, Mystical Agradditions and Productive Trees.[6]

The pack also adds Immersive Engineering cloche recipes that use Magical Soil with these seeds to produce essence. There is one each for Allthemodium, Vibranium and Unobtainium.[6]

Mekanism ore processing

Mekanism machines process two KubeJS-added metals, azure silver and crimson iron. The pack adds a chain of recipes for each one, starting from ores, raw materials, raw blocks, shards or crystals.[6]

Ars Nouveau

The pack adds essence blocks for Ars Nouveau's elements: Air Essence Block, Earth Essence Block, Fire Essence Block and Water Essence Block. You can turn each block back into its essence, for example Air Essence.[6]

Enchanting Apparatus (ars_nouveau)

Recipe id: kubejs:enchanting_apparatus/unobtainium_allthemodium_alloy_block

The essence blocks feed this Enchanting Apparatus recipe for the alloy block.

Eternal Starlight

Generalized Starlight Prediction is the link to Eternal Starlight. The Hostile Neural Networks quest a quest in "Hostile Neural Networks" describes it as making various Starlight materials. The pack's shapeless recipes combine it with a vanilla item or a dye to give Eternal Starlight versions, including:[4][6]

ATM Star quests

The Creative chapter has five ATM Star part quests, each asking for one KubeJS shard, from kubejs:atm_star_shard_1 to kubejs:atm_star_shard_5. The top part, "Top ATM Star part" quest, comes after the Soul Binding Crystal quest. The right part, "Right ATM Star part" quest, comes after Whirlwind Prism, and the bottom right part, "Bottom Right ATM Star part" quest, after Smelter Prism. The bottom left part, "Bottom Left ATM Star part" quest, comes after Sea Prism, and the left part, "Left ATM Star part" quest, after Terrastomp Prism.[5]

Which All the Mons quests use KubeJS?

4 parts

Items from this mod show up in four quest chapters. Most of it is custom content the pack adds, so here is what each chapter asks you to bring and what it unlocks after.[2][3][4][5]

Creative: the ATM Star parts

This chapter has five quests, each asking you to hand in one ATM Star shard. They are numbered 1/5 to 5/5, and each one comes after a different earlier quest in the chapter.[5]

  1. "Top ATM Star part" quest (1/5) asks for kubejs:atm_star_shard_1 and comes after Soul Binding Crystal.[5]
  2. "Right ATM Star part" quest (2/5) asks for kubejs:atm_star_shard_2 and comes after Whirlwind Prism.[5]
  3. "Bottom Right ATM Star part" quest (3/5) asks for kubejs:atm_star_shard_3 and comes after Smelter Prism.[5]
  4. "Bottom Left ATM Star part" quest (4/5) asks for kubejs:atm_star_shard_4 and comes after Sea Prism.[5]
  5. "Left ATM Star part" quest (5/5) asks for kubejs:atm_star_shard_5 and comes after Terrastomp Prism.[5]

Mystical Agriculture: Magical Soil

Three Magical-tier quests need Magical Soil alongside a set of seeds. All three come after Insanium Farmland and Infusion Altar. The quests are for Allthemodium, Vibranium and Unobtainium seeds.[3]

Tip: These seeds need Magical Soil placed below them in order to grow, so set up the soil before you plant.[3]

Extended & Advanced AE: Infinity Cells

"More Resources than you ever need: Infinity Cells" quest is described as "The Sink but in cell form". It introduces the ExtendedAE Infinity Cell, which gives a limitless supply of one resource. You only need to hand in one item from a long list. That list includes Lava Cell, Dirt Cell, Moss Cell, Sand Cell, End Stone Cell, Netherrack Cell, Sky Stone Cell and colour cells such as White Cell and Black Cell. The ExtendedAE infinity water and infinity cobblestone cells also count.[2]

Hostile Neural Networks: Starlight Prediction

One quest here asks for Generalized Starlight Prediction, described as making various Starlight Materials. a quest in "Hostile Neural Networks" comes after Simulating Deaths.[4]
