What is Hostile Neural Networks?
3 parts
Hostile Neural Networks lets you simulate mobs and turn the results into their drops, so you can farm loot without building a traditional mob farm. It is based on Deep Mob Learning, and this pack includes version 6.5.1.[1][2]
How it works
Everything revolves around the Data Model. You right-click a mob with a Model Framework and it becomes a Data Model of that mob. Then you train it by keeping it in a Deep Learner while you kill that mob. A Learner holds 4 models and collects kills as long as it is anywhere in your inventory.[1][3]
Every model starts as Faulty and needs to reach Basic before you can simulate it. Run it in the Simulation Chamber, which needs power and a Prediction Matrix. Higher model tiers succeed more often, up to 99.5% at Self Aware.[1][3]
A successful simulation gives you a Mob Prediction. Feed it into the Loot Fabricator and pick which item you want from that mob. The machine remembers your choice, so it can be automated. The pack's quests give examples: Ender Dragons for Dragon Eggs, Zombies for Iron and Withers for Nether Stars.[1][3]
Simulations also always produce a generalized prediction, such as Generalized Overworld Prediction, Generalized Nether Prediction or Generalized Ender Prediction, depending on where the mob comes from.[1][3]
Who it is for
If you want a steady supply of mob drops, this is for you. The pack has a dedicated Hostile Neural Networks quest chapter that walks you through learning mobs, simulating deaths and creating loot, starting from "Learning Mobs" quest and "Modeling Mobs" quest.[3]
The ATM Star path
The mod is part of the ATM Star chapter. The quest "Hostile Neural Networks" quest is there and asks for a Model Framework. It is followed by "Ender Dragon Data Model" quest, which accepts any Ender Dragon Data Model. The Dragon Soul needs that model to be Self Aware, so expect to keep killing the Dragon or run a lot of predictions.[4]
How do you get started with Hostile Neural Networks?
6 parts
Hostile Neural Networks is all about simulating mobs so you can farm their loot. The pack's quest book walks you through it in a clear order, and this section follows the same path: make a Model Framework, build a Deep Learner, level up a Data Model, then move on to simulations and loot.[3][4]
First: the Model Framework
Start with the Model Framework. It's the starting point for every Data Model. Right click the mob you want to gather data on and the Framework turns into that mob's Data Model. The quest "Modeling Mobs" quest covers this.[3][5]

Second: the Deep Learner
Next, make a Deep Learner. Right click it to open a HUD and store Data Models. Each Learner holds 4 Data Models. Put your new model inside and go kill that mob. See "Learning Mobs" quest.[3]

Third: level up your Data Model
Every Data Model starts at the Faulty tier, and you need to get it to Basic before you can run simulations on it. The Deep Learner HUD shows how many kills the next level needs, and so does the model's tooltip. The quest "Leveling Up Data Models" quest covers this step.[1][3]
Fourth: Prediction Matrix and Simulation Chamber
Once a model is Basic or higher, you can run it in the Simulation Chamber. The machine needs power, and the amount depends on the model, so check the model's tooltip. It also needs at least one Prediction Matrix to run a simulation. These two are covered by "Simulating Deaths" quest.[3]

Simulations have two modes. Training gives the model data but produces no predictions, and it costs more Forge Energy. Inference outputs onto the Matrix without giving the model any data, and it's faster. Simulations always produce a Generalized Prediction. If one succeeds, you also get a Mob Prediction, and higher-tier models succeed more often.[3][6]
The Generalized Predictions can be turned into the next dimension's version with the recipes below. They're used in various crafting recipes.[3][7]

Fifth: the Loot Fabricator
The Loot Fabricator turns Mob Predictions into real drops. Give it power and a successful Mob Prediction, then choose which item you want from that mob's model. It remembers your choice, so it can be automated. The examples in the quest book are Zombies for Iron, Withers for Nether Stars and Ender Dragons for Dragon Eggs. See "Creating Loot" quest.[3]

Later: the Data Center
When you're ready to automate, look at the Data Center. It's a 7×7×7 multiblock that combines the Simulation Chamber and the Loot Fabricator. It handles up to 25 Self Aware Data Models at once and produces loot directly instead of Mob Predictions. The floor must be obsidian, the walls and ceiling must be black stained glass, and the controller replaces one bottom-wall block. The quest "The Data Center" quest has the full build rules.[3][6]

How does Hostile Neural Networks work?
7 parts
Everything in Hostile Neural Networks revolves around the Data Model, an item that holds information about one entity so you can turn that mob's drops into something you can farm. You craft a Model Framework, use it on the target entity to build the model, and then train it.[1]

This is the in-pack recipe for the Model Framework you use on a mob to start a Data Model.
Training a model
The Deep Learner holds a few Data Models, and the kills you make train them. Every model starts out Faulty, and the Deep Learner is how you get it up to Basic.[1]

The Simulation Chamber also trains a Data Model, through simulated combat. The mod has two simulation modes. In training mode, simulations increase model data but produce no outputs. In inference mode, simulations produce output but the models do not gain data.[1][6]
Running simulations
Once a model is Basic or higher, the Simulation Chamber can run simulations of it. Every simulation produces a generalized prediction, and it may also produce a Mob Prediction. The chance depends on the model's accuracy, which rises with tier up to 99.5% at Self Aware.[1]
Simulations cost energy, and the amount depends on the model type. They also need a catalyst item, which is usually a Prediction Matrix.[1]

Turning predictions into loot
The Loot Fabricator uses power to materialize predictions into real items. The drops come from a pre-defined list, and you pick a target for each type of model. The fabricator remembers your choice for each type, so one fabricator can take several kinds of prediction.[1][6]

It needs a 7×7×7 hollow shell built around it. The floor must be obsidian, and the walls and ceiling must be black stained glass. The controller replaces one bottom-wall block and must face outwards.[6]
Using the Data Center
Put Data Models into the 5×5 grid and matching items into the four input slots. Each active slot consumes one input per cycle and produces the drop chosen by its Fabrication Directive.[6]
IO Ports and automation
A Data Center IO Port can replace any wall or ceiling block in the shell, and the controller detects it automatically. Right-click it to cycle through four modes: Energy, Models, Inputs and Outputs. Energy accepts power, while Models, Inputs and Outputs expose the matching item slots.[6]
The pack changed the IO Port recipe from the mod's version, so use the one below.[7]

Unverified The energy cost per simulation for each model type, the Data Center's power use, its cycle length and the Loot Fabricator's energy cost are not shown in the sources here, and the pack has no config files for this mod, so check those values in-game.
How do you progress through Hostile Neural Networks?
5 parts
Hostile Neural Networks is about simulating mobs so you can farm their loot, and the pack's quest chapter walks you through it in a clear order. You start with a Deep Learner and Model Frameworks, then work up to machines that hand you loot for you.[3][5]
Step 1: Learn and model mobs
"Learning Mobs" quest introduces the Deep Learner. It holds 4 Data Models, and it collects kill data for the models inside as long as it's anywhere in your inventory. If you carry several Learners, kills count for the models in all of them.[3]
Crafting Shaped

"Modeling Mobs" quest is where you pick a mob. Right click the mob with a Model Framework and it turns into that mob's Data Model. Put that model in the Deep Learner, then kill that mob.[3][5]
Crafting Shaped
| any redstone dust | any redstone dust | |
| any gold ingot |
Recipe id: hostilenetworks:framework
Step 2: Level up your Data Models
"Leveling Up Data Models" quest covers tiers. A new Data Model starts at Faulty, and you need at least Basic before you can simulate with it. The Deep Learner HUD and the model's tooltip both show how many kills you still need for the next level.[3]
Self Aware is the tier the later machines ask for. The Data Center works with Self Aware Data Models, and the Ender Dragon Data Model needs to be Self Aware for the Dragon Soul.[3][4]
Step 3: Simulate deaths
"Simulating Deaths" quest comes after Learning Mobs and Modeling Mobs, and gives you the Simulation Chamber, the main machine of the mod. It needs power, and the amount depends on the Data Model inside, which you can read in the model's tooltip. It also needs at least one Prediction Matrix to run.[3]

There are two simulation modes:[3]
- Training: the Data Model gains data, but you get no Generalized Predictions or Mob Predictions. It costs more Forge Energy than Inference.[3]
- Inference: the result goes onto the Matrix and the model gains no data. It is faster than Training.[3]
Every simulation produces some kind of Generalized Prediction, and which kind depends on where the mob comes from. If the simulation succeeds, you also get a Mob Prediction. The higher the model's tier, the better the success rate.[3]
The Generalized Predictions have their own quests: Generalized Overworld Prediction for Overworld materials, Generalized Nether Prediction for Nether materials and Generalized Ender Prediction for End materials. The pack also has recipes that turn one Generalized Prediction into the next dimension's.[3][7]

Step 4: Create loot
"Creating Loot" quest follows Simulating Deaths and unlocks the Loot Fabricator. Give it power and a successful Mob Prediction, then pick which item you want from that mob's Data Model. It remembers your choice, so you can automate it. The quest's examples are Ender Dragons for Dragon Eggs, Zombies for Iron and Withers for Nether Stars.[3]

After this quest, a long run of follow-up quests each ask you to get a Mob Prediction.[3]
Step 5: The Data Center
"The Data Center" quest also comes after Creating Loot. The Data Center is a 7x7x7 multiblock that combines the Simulation Chamber and the Loot Fabricator. It handles 25 Self Aware Data Models at once, with the same effects as Inference simulations. Instead of Mob Predictions it produces loot directly, with the same modes as the Loot Fabricator.[3]

Which All the Mons quests use Hostile Neural Networks?
3 parts
Hostile Neural Networks has its own quest chapter, and it also shows up in two other chapters. The dedicated chapter is the one that walks you through the whole mod, so that's where we'll start.[3][4][5]
The Hostile Neural Networks chapter
The chapter opens with an intro quest called "Welcome to Hostile Neural Networks!". Two quests unlock right after it. "Learning Mobs" quest asks for the Deep Learner. It holds 4 Data Models and collects kill data as long as it's anywhere in your inventory. "Modeling Mobs" quest asks for the Model Framework. You right click a mob with it to turn it into that mob's Data Model.[3]
Once you've done both, you unlock two quests. "Simulating Deaths" quest wants the Simulation Chamber and a Prediction Matrix. "Leveling Up Data Models" quest asks for a Data Model and explains that models start at the Faulty tier and need to reach at least Basic before you can simulate them.[3]
"Simulating Deaths" quest opens up the next branch. Each of these quests asks for one Generalized Prediction:[3]
- a quest in "Hostile Neural Networks" asks for the Generalized Overworld Prediction.[3]
- a quest in "Hostile Neural Networks" asks for the Generalized Nether Prediction.[3]
- a quest in "Hostile Neural Networks" asks for the Generalized Ender Prediction.[3]
These three quests have no title or description of their own. Their subtitles say they make various Overworld, Nether and End materials.[3]
"Creating Loot" quest also comes after the simulation quest and asks for the Loot Fabricator. This is the machine that turns successful Mob Predictions into loot.[3]
After Creating Loot
"The Data Center" quest is the endgame quest of the chapter. It asks for the Data Center, an Data Center IO Port and one of several accepted black glass blocks. The Data Center is a 7x7x7 multiblock that can run 25 Self Aware Data Models at once and produces loot directly. The floor must be Obsidian and the walls and ceiling must be Black Stained Glass.[3]
The rest of the chapter is a big batch of untitled quests that also unlock after Creating Loot. Each one asks you to hand in a Prediction.[3]
Unverified The untitled quests don't say which mob's Prediction each one wants, so check the in-game quest book for the specific mob.
Appearances in other chapters
- In the New Beginning chapter, "Hostile Neural Networks" quest unlocks after the Material Farming quest. It asks for a Model Framework. Right click a mob with it, put it in the Deep Learner and start killing.[5]
- In the ATM Star chapter, "Hostile Neural Networks" quest also asks for a Model Framework. It comes with a short blurb about simulating mobs to farm their loot.[4]
- "Ender Dragon Data Model" quest follows it and asks for any Ender Dragon Data Model. The Dragon Soul needs that model to be Self Aware, which you get by killing the Dragon repeatedly or running lots of Predictions.[4]
What changed in Hostile Neural Networks between versions?
All the Mons 1.3.0 ships Hostile Neural Networks 6.5.1. The mod has been in the pack since All the Mons 0.3.0-beta or earlier, so it's been part of the pack for a long time.[2]
The mod's own changelog has entries for versions 6.5.1 and 6.4.2, so 6.5.1 is the version you're playing on in 1.3.0.[2][8][9]
Unverified The details of what changed in Hostile Neural Networks 6.5.1 and 6.4.2 aren't confirmed here, and no pack changelog entries for this mod were available, so I can't say what changed for you between pack releases.
