What is Create: Cobblemon Balls Overhaul?

2 parts

Create: Cobblemon Balls Overhaul is an addon that connects Create and Cobblemon. It rebalances the Cobblemon ball recipes and adds ways to build every Pokeball with Create machinery. This pack includes version 0.0.4. It's for you if you like Create assembly lines and want your ball supply to run on them too.[1][2]

According to the project page, Cobblemon's ball recipes give only 2 balls instead of 4, because materials are easier to get with Create. You also process Apricorns and Tumblestone with Create to make the base ball lids, and every Pokeball has a sequenced assembly recipe.[1]

Unverified The 2-ball yield comes from the mod's own description. The sources don't confirm whether this pack changes it, so check the in-game recipe viewer before you plan around it. This site does hold All the Mons's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

Where it fits in the pack

The mod's quests sit in the Master Ball chapter. They build on earlier Create-style quests: Creating Pokeballs, Bulk Washing, Pressing, Sawing (again) and Deploying. You'll get the most out of it once you have basic Create processing running.[3]

Mechanism tiers

"Mechanisms" quest explains that each mechanism unlocks a different tier of ball.[3]

How do you get started with Create: Cobblemon Balls Overhaul?

6 parts

This mod turns Pokeball crafting into a Create-style assembly line. Every ball is built from parts: lids, bases and mechanisms. The quest chapter in this pack walks you through them in a sensible order, and this section follows the same path.[1][3]

Step 1: Turn Apricorns into Half Apricorns

Start by processing Cobblemon Apricorns into halves, for example Half Red Apricorn. On their own they don't do much, but every ball lid starts from one (see "Half Apricorns" quest). The pack lets you do this in an Oritech Grinder or a Mekanism sawmill, so use whichever machine you already have.[3][4]

Grinder (oritech)

Grinder route. The other colors have matching grinder recipes.

Step 2: Make Ball Lids

The color of the Half Apricorn decides which lid you get, and you also get dye from it. In the pack, an EnderIO tank filled with water can turn a half into a lid.[3][4]

Red Ball LidMod recipe

Tank (enderio)

Recipe id: allthemons:enderio/tank_fill/red_ball_lid

Smelting a colored lid gives you a Blank Ball Lid, which can be dyed into other colors. That saves you from needing every Apricorn color. See "Ball Lids" quest.[3][4]

Step 3: Craft the Rubber Stamp and stamp nuggets

Next, craft the Rubber Stamp (Lid). You don't need Create to craft it, only to use it (a quest in "Master Ball"). Then use a Deployer to press the stamp onto nuggets ("Stamped Nuggets" quest). You need the stamped nuggets for the mechanisms.[3]

The sturdy version uses a Sturdy Sheet. The quest says to make it by spouting Lava over Obsidian Dust, then pressing it twice.[3]

Step 4: Make Ball Bases

Stamped nuggets become bases in a Mekanism lathe, for example Copper Ball Base.[4]

Lathe (mekmm)

Recipe id: allthemons:mekanism/lathe/copper_ball_base

The pack also has Oritech Atomic Forge recipes for the bases. The sturdy one was changed by the pack and takes an obsidian plate.[4]

Step 5: Build Mechanisms

Each mechanism sets which tier of ball you can make. The quest says you need 2 bases for each mechanism, plus more items from Deployers ("Ball Bases" quest, "Mechanisms" quest).[3]

The pack also adds an Oritech Assembler route for the mechanisms.[4]

Assembler (oritech)

Optional: Apricorn Bits and special lids

Apricorn Bits can't be eaten or given to Pokemon. You only use them with Deployers, mixing them with dyes and lids to make other lids ("Apricorn Bits" quest). One example is the Great Ball Lid, which starts from a blue lid.[3][4]

How does Create: Cobblemon Balls Overhaul work?

4 parts

Create: Cobblemon Balls Overhaul is an addon for Create and Cobblemon. Its project page says it rebalances the Cobblemon ball recipes and adds a way to build every ball on a Create assembly line, processing apricorns and Tumblestone into the parts. The sources for this pack don't go much deeper than that, so this section sticks to what they confirm.[1]

What the mod says it does

  • The mod's page says Cobblemon's own ball recipes give only 2 balls instead of 4, because materials are easier to get with Create. That is the mod's stated behavior, and the sources here don't show whether this pack changes it.[1]
  • Apricorns and Tumblestone are processed with Create to make the base ball lids.[1]
  • Sequenced assembly recipes are used to craft every ball.[1]

Mechanisms in this pack

In this pack, the ball mechanisms are made in the Oritech assembler. There is a recipe for each of the Copper, Iron, Brass and Sturdy tiers, plus an Ancient version of each. Each mechanism builds on the matching ball base, for example Iron Ball Base, and Create parts such as the shaft show up in these recipes.[4]

Assembler (oritech)

The Iron Ball Mechanism is a good example of how the standard mechanisms are made here.

The Ancient tier works the same way. Copper Ancient Ball Mechanism and Brass Ancient Ball Mechanism are both assembler recipes too.[4]

Special lids

In this pack, the special lids are made in the Oritech atomic forge from the coated base lids and apricorn bits. These are the forge recipes the sources show:[4]

The Beast Ball Lid is one of the forge lids.

The Ancient Gigaton Ball Lid is the exception: it is made in the Oritech assembler rather than the forge.[4]

Rubber Stamp (Lid)

The Rubber Stamp (Lid) is a plain crafting table recipe. The mod's tooltip marks its older apricorn punch item as obsolete and tells you to use this stamp instead.[4][5]

How do you progress through Create: Cobblemon Balls Overhaul?

5 parts

Progression in this mod is a chain that ends in the Mechanisms, which come in Copper, Iron, Brass and Sturdy tiers. Each tier unlocks a different group of Poke Balls. The pack's quests walk you through it, starting with a stamp, then bases and lids, and ending with the Mechanisms.[3]

What each Mechanism unlocks

The Mechanisms quest spells out the tiers. Here is what each one makes, as the quest describes it:[3]

Step 1: the Rubber Stamp

The chain starts with Rubber Stamp (Lid) in quest a quest in "Master Ball". The quest says you don't need Create to craft it, only to use it.[3]

Step 2: stamped nuggets and bases

In "Stamped Nuggets" quest you use a Deployer to push the stamp onto nuggets. The result is a stamped Copper, Iron, Zinc or Brass nugget, or a Stamped Sturdy Sheet. The quest describes the Sturdy Sheet as Obsidian Dust that is first hit with Spouting Lava and then pressed twice.[3]

The pack changed the obsidian-based recipes, so you have other routes too. The stamper recipe for Stamped Sturdy Sheet (Lid) takes an obsidian plate, and so does the Atomic Forge recipe for Sturdy Ball Base.[4]

"Ball Bases" quest covers the Copper, Iron, Brass and Sturdy Ball Bases. The quest notes that Zinc makes the Iron Ball Base, and that you need 2 Ball Bases for each Mechanism, plus more items added with Deployers.[3]

Step 3: Mechanisms

"Mechanisms" quest is the goal of this stretch. If you'd rather use the Oritech Assembler, the pack has a recipe for each Mechanism. The Copper, Iron and Brass ones each use a Shaft, the matching base and a nugget. The Sturdy one uses Andesite Alloy, a Shaft and the Sturdy Ball Base.[3][4]

The lid side of the chain

"Half Apricorns" quest introduces the Half Apricorns, which the quest says do little besides make lids. "Ball Lids" quest explains that the colour of the Half Apricorn decides which lid you get. Smelting a Ball Lid gives you a Blank Ball Lid, which can be dyed into other lids.[3]

The pack changed the Productive Bees conversions from each Half Apricorn to its matching lid, so check those recipes if you use bees. A blasting recipe also turns the coloured lids back into a Blank Ball Lid.[4]

Blasting turns any of the coloured lids into a Blank Ball Lid.

"Apricorn Bits" quest covers Apricorn Bits. The quest says you can't eat them or give them to Pokemon. You only use them with Deployers, mixing the Bits and dyes with Ball Lids to make other lids.[3]

The quest that follows, a quest in "Master Ball", shows an example. You take a Blue Ball Lid and deploy 2 Red Apricorn Bits onto it to get a Great Ball Lid.[3]

How does Create: Cobblemon Balls Overhaul work with other mods?

4 parts

This mod is a bridge between two big mods. The balls you end up with are Cobblemon items, while the parts that build them (lids, bases and mechanisms) are made with Create items and machines. The pack adds a third link on top: the Oritech assembler.[1][4]

Oritech assembler recipes

In this pack, the recipes for Cobblemon balls are assembler recipes. They take a lid and a mechanism from this mod and turn them into the finished ball. The Poké Ball is a good example of the pattern: a Blank Ball Lid, a Red Ball Lid and a copper mechanism.[4]

Poké BallMod recipe

Assembler (oritech)

Recipe id: allthemons:assembler/poke_ball

The mechanisms themselves are also assembler recipes, and they use Create parts such as the Shaft and Andesite Alloy. The Sturdy Ancient Ball Mechanism uses a rose quartz gem tag instead of the nugget or rod the other mechanisms take.[4]

Assembler (oritech)

Recipe id: allthemons:assembler/copper_ball_mechanism

The Dream Ball is the one ball that also asks for a Create item directly: Polished Rose Quartz goes into its assembler recipe, alongside a Sturdy Ball Mechanism.[4]

Which mechanism makes which ball

The Mechanisms quest explains that each mechanism metal is a different tier of ball. The assembler recipes in the pack match that description.[3][4]

All the Mons custom balls

The pack also uses this mod's parts for its own balls. The Great Ball of Fire is built from a Blank Ball Lid and a Sturdy Ball Mechanism. The ancient version, Ancient Great Ball of Fire, uses the Apricorn Wood Ball Lid and the Sturdy Ancient Ball Mechanism. The Allthemodium Ball, Ancient Allthemodium Ball and Ancient Vibranium Ball follow the same lid-plus-mechanism pattern, using pack-specific lids and mechanisms.[4]

Assembler (oritech)

Create in the quests

The Master Ball chapter is where Create comes in. The a quest in "Master Ball" quest points out that you don't need Create to craft the Rubber Stamp, only to use it. In "Stamped Nuggets" quest, you use a Deployer to press the stamps onto nuggets, and you need those for the mechanisms.[3]

The Sturdy Sheet needs more processing. You spout Lava over Obsidian Dust, then press it twice.[3]

Lids come from Half Apricorns ("Half Apricorns" quest), and the apricorn colour decides which lid you get. Smelting a "Ball Lids" quest lid gives a Blank Ball Lid, which can be dyed into other lids. "Apricorn Bits" quest are mixed with dyes and lids using Deployers. "Ball Bases" quest need 2 bases for each mechanism, plus more items added with Deployers.[3]

The last quest in the chapter, a quest in "Master Ball", shows the shortcut to a Great Ball Lid: take a Blue Lid and deploy 2 Red Apricorn Bits on top of it. It also teases the Great Ball of Fire as the next step up.[3]

Unverified The quests describe a Create route (Deployers, spouting, pressing), while the pack's recipes for the finished balls and mechanisms run through the Oritech assembler. The sources don't confirm whether the Create sequenced-assembly ball recipes from the mod's own description still work in this pack, so check in-game before you build around them.

Which All the Mons quests use Create: Cobblemon Balls Overhaul?

3 parts

Everything this mod does in the pack's quest book lives in one chapter, "Master Ball". It walks you through building the parts for Poké Balls with Create machines: stamps, bases, lids and mechanisms. Quests are listed below in the order their prerequisites unlock them.[3]

Stamps and nuggets

  1. a quest in "Master Ball" unlocks after the "Creating Pokeballs" quest and asks you to get the Rubber Stamp (Lid). The quest says you don't need Create to craft it, only to use it.[3]
  2. "Stamped Nuggets" quest comes next and asks for any one of the stamped items: copper, iron, zinc or brass nuggets, or the Stamped Sturdy Sheet (Lid). You push the stamps onto nuggets with a Deployer, and you need the results for the Mechanisms. The quest says the Sturdy Sheet comes from Obsidian Dust: Spout Lava over it, then press it twice.[3]

Apricorn parts and lids

  • "Half Apricorns" quest wants any one of the seven Half Apricorns, for example the Half Red Apricorn. The quest says they don't do much except make Lids. It unlocks after a quest whose name isn't given in the sources.[3]
  • "Ball Lids" quest unlocks after the "Bulk Washing" quest. It asks for any colored lid, such as the Red Ball Lid, plus a Blank Ball Lid. The Half Apricorn's color decides which lid you get, and you also get dye. Smelting a Ball Lid gives a Blank Ball Lid, which can be dyed into other lids.[3]
  • "Apricorn Bits" quest unlocks after the "Sawing (again)" quest. It asks for any one of the colored Apricorn Bits, for example the Red Apricorn Bits. The quest says you can't eat them or give them to Pokémon. You can only use Deployers to mix Apricorn Bits and Dyes with Ball Lids to make other lids.[3]
  • a quest in "Master Ball" follows Apricorn Bits and asks for the Great Ball Lid. Take a Blue Lid and Deploy 2 Red Apricorn Bits on top of it.[3]

Bases and mechanisms

Tip: Each Mechanism covers a different tier of ball. Copper makes the default Poké Balls plus the Safari and Heal Ball. Iron makes Great Balls and a few others like the Net and Dive Balls. Brass makes Ultra Balls, Love and Luxury Balls and a bit more. The Sturdy Ball Mechanism makes Dream and Beast Balls.[3]

Several of these quests unlock after quests from outside this mod: "Creating Pokeballs", "Bulk Washing", "Pressing", "Sawing (again)" and "Deploying". One more prerequisite appears only as an id in the sources, so its name is unverified.[3]

What changed in Create: Cobblemon Balls Overhaul between versions?

1 part

All the Mons 1.0.0-rc.2 ships Create: Cobblemon Balls Overhaul 0.0.4. The mod has been in the pack since All the Mons 0.3.0-beta or earlier, so you've probably been using it for a while.[2]

0.0.4

  • Updated to Cobblemon 1.7.1. The author says to keep version 0.0.3 if you're on Cobblemon 1.6.1.[6]
  • Fixed a missing texture.[6]
  • Removed the Apricorn Punch recipes. The author calls the item obsolete and says it will be removed.[6]
Tip: If you ever run this mod outside the pack, match the mod version to your Cobblemon version: 0.0.4 is for Cobblemon 1.7.1 and 0.0.3 is for Cobblemon 1.6.1.[6]
