What is Industrial Foregoing: Souls?
2 parts
Industrial Foregoing: Souls is an add-on for Industrial Foregoing that uses souls taken from Wardens to speed up your machines. This pack includes version 1.0.4.[1][2]
How it works
- Extract souls from a Warden with a Soul Laser Base fitted with a Blue Lens. The Stasis Chamber is a handy partner for this.[1]
- Place a Soul Surge pointing at the block you want to accelerate.[1]
- Connect the Soul Surge to the Soul Laser Base with Soul Pipe.[1]
Each soul lasts 15 seconds and makes the machine 4 times faster by default. The mod page lists these as defaults that can be changed in the config, so check your own config if you want to be sure of the values in your world. A redstone signal on the Soul Surge stops it working. If a block shouldn't ever be accelerated, add it to the block tag industrialforegoingsouls:cant_accelerate.[1]
The mod also adds a way to get more Echo Shards, which it uses a lot.[1]
Where it sits in the quest book
The pack's quest book has no separate chapter for this mod. Its quests sit in the Industrial Foregoing chapter, in the Production group. That chapter is number 38 of 44 in the book and has 47 quests.[3]
The path starts at a quest in "Industrial Foregoing", which comes after the Pink Slime Bucket and Simple Machine Frame quests. a quest in "Industrial Foregoing" unlocks after it, alongside other machine quests that also follow the Advanced Machine Frame. Right after the Soul Laser Base comes a quest in "Industrial Foregoing", which asks you for the Soul Surge and the Soul Pipe. Nothing further is listed after that one.[3]
How do you get started with Industrial Foregoing: Souls?
4 parts
This mod is about using souls taken from a Warden to speed up your machines. The setup is only three items, and the pack's quest book puts them in this order: the laser base first, then the pipes and the surge.[1][3]
Step 1: the Soul Laser Base
The pack's quest book has this in the Industrial Foregoing chapter (group Production, chapter 38 of 44). The a quest in "Industrial Foregoing" quest comes right after a quest in "Industrial Foregoing", so make that frame first. The recipe uses an advanced machine frame, and the pack changed the recipe from the mod's own.[3][4]

The Soul Laser Base pulls souls out of a Warden, and it needs a Blue Lens to do it. Don't forget to add the lens! The Stasis Chamber is a handy friend here, and it has its own quest right after the Advanced Machine Frame: a quest in "Industrial Foregoing".[1][3]
Step 2: Soul Pipes and the Soul Surge
Next comes the quest a quest in "Industrial Foregoing", which unlocks after the Soul Laser Base quest and asks for both the pipe and the surge. The pack changed both recipes. Both use an echo shard, and the mod also adds a way to get more of them.[1][3][4]

Putting it together
- Place the Soul Laser Base, add a Blue Lens and collect souls from a Warden.[1]
- Place the Soul Surge so it points at the block you want to accelerate.[1]
- Connect the surge to the laser base with Soul Pipe.[1]
- Apply a redstone signal to the surge whenever you want it to stop working.[1]
Pack values worth knowing
A soul lasts 300 ticks (15 seconds) and makes the machine 4 times faster by default. In this pack the acceleration is set by IFSoulsMachines.ConfigSoulSurge.SOUL_TIME and IFSoulsMachines.ConfigSoulSurge.ACCELERATION_TICK, and both values match the mod's defaults.[1][5]
How does Industrial Foregoing: Souls work?
5 parts
Industrial Foregoing: Souls is built around one idea: you pull souls out of a Warden, store them, and burn them to speed up other blocks. Three blocks make the whole system work: the Soul Laser Base, the Soul Pipe and the Soul Surge.[1][6]
Getting souls: the Soul Laser Base
The Soul Laser Base extracts souls from a Warden, and it needs a Blue Lens to do it. Don't forget the lens, because the machine won't do its job without one. The mod page also points out that the Stasis Chamber is your friend for this setup.[1]

Recipe id: industrialforegoingsouls:soul_laser_base
The pack changed this recipe from the mod's own.
This is how the pack configures the base:[5]
- IFSoulsMachines.ConfigSoulLaserBase.SOUL_STORAGE_AMOUNT is 1350, the maximum amount of the soul storage tank.[5]
- IFSoulsMachines.ConfigSoulLaserBase.MAX_PROGRESS is 20, the max progress of the machine.[5]
- IFSoulsMachines.ConfigSoulLaserBase.SOULS_PER_OPERATION is 2 in this pack. The mod's default is 3, so the pack gives you fewer souls per operation.[1][5]
- IFSoulsMachines.ConfigSoulLaserBase.DAMAGE_PER_OPERATION is 4, the damage dealt to the Warden each time an operation completes.[5]
- IFSoulsMachines.ConfigSoulLaserBase.KILL_WARDEN is false. The option decides whether the Warden is killed when its life gets near 0 or kept alive, so here the Warden is kept alive.[5]
Moving souls: Soul Pipes
Soul Pipes carry souls from the Soul Laser Base to the Soul Surge. Each pipe holds 4 souls, set by IFSoulsMachines.SOUL_AMOUNT_PER_PIPE.[1][5]

Using souls: the Soul Surge
Place a Soul Surge so it points at the block you want to accelerate, then connect it with Soul Pipes to the Soul Laser Base. A redstone signal on the Soul Surge stops it from working.[1]

The pack changed this recipe too.
The mod page says each soul lasts 15 seconds and makes the machine 4 times faster by default. In this pack, IFSoulsMachines.ConfigSoulSurge.SOUL_TIME is 300 ticks, which matches those 15 seconds.[1][5]
The acceleration settings are all 4 extra ticks in this pack, and each one covers a different kind of target:[5]
- IFSoulsMachines.ConfigSoulSurge.ACCELERATION_TICK covers tile entities (machines).[5]
- IFSoulsMachines.ConfigSoulSurge.BLOCK_ACCELERATION_TICK covers blocks.[5]
- IFSoulsMachines.ConfigSoulSurge.ENTITIES_ACCELERATION_TICK covers mobs.[5]
- IFSoulsMachines.ConfigSoulSurge.RANDOM_TICK_ACCELERATION_CHANCE is 0.03, so a random tick block is accelerated on 3% of the ticks.[5]
Blocks the Surge ignores
The pack sets IFSoulsMachines.ConfigSoulSurge.SOUL_SURGE_IGNORE_BLOCKS so some blocks can never be sped up. The list covers the power flower blocks from Project Expansion and a range of blocks from Solar Flux Reborn, including its higher-tier panels.[5]
The mod page also says you can protect blocks from acceleration by adding them to the block tag industrialforegoingsouls:cant_accelerate.[1]
Echo Shards
The mod page says it also adds a way to get more Echo Shards, since the mod uses a lot of them. The sources here don't describe how that works.[1]
How do you progress through Industrial Foregoing: Souls?
3 parts
Industrial Foregoing: Souls doesn't have its own quest chapter in this pack. The quests that ask for Souls items sit inside the Industrial Foregoing chapter, after the Advanced Machine Frame quest.[3]
Getting to the Advanced frame
The chapter's first quest is a plain checkmark. The next quest, a quest in "Industrial Foregoing", asks you to get the Pity Machine Frame. After that the quests split into two lines that meet again at the Advanced frame.[3]
- Machine line: the quests ask for a quest in "Industrial Foregoing", then a quest in "Industrial Foregoing", then a quest in "Industrial Foregoing", then a quest in "Industrial Foregoing", then a quest in "Industrial Foregoing".[3]
- Slime line: the quests ask for a quest in "Industrial Foregoing", then a quest in "Industrial Foregoing".[3]
- Both lines feed a quest in "Industrial Foregoing", which asks you for the Advanced frame and comes after both the Pink Slime Bucket and Simple Machine Frame quests.[3]
The Souls quests
a quest in "Industrial Foregoing" comes straight after the Advanced Machine Frame quest and asks you to get the Soul Laser Base. The quest book lists it alongside many other quests that follow the Advanced frame, such as a quest in "Industrial Foregoing", a quest in "Industrial Foregoing", a quest in "Industrial Foregoing" and a quest in "Industrial Foregoing".[3]
The pack has changed the Soul Laser Base recipe from the mod's own. Here is the in-pack version:[4]

After that, a quest in "Industrial Foregoing" asks for two items: the Soul Surge and the Soul Pipe. It is the last Souls quest in the chapter. Both recipes are also changed by the pack, and the pipe recipe makes 8 pipes per craft.[3][4]

Where this sits next to the Supreme tier
In the quest book the Souls quests are a side branch. The main frame line continues from a quest in "Industrial Foregoing" to a quest in "Industrial Foregoing" and then a quest in "Industrial Foregoing". The quests that follow the Supreme frame are a quest in "Industrial Foregoing", a quest in "Industrial Foregoing" and a quest in "Industrial Foregoing". The Soul Laser Base and Soul Pipe quests are not followed by any of these.[3]
How does Industrial Foregoing: Souls work with other mods?
3 parts
The recipes in the pack that connect this mod to other mods are the Soul Surge and the ME Souls Cell Housing. Both were changed by the pack.[4]
Soul Surge and Allthemodium
The pack changed the crafting recipe of Soul Surge. The cross-mod ingredient is Unobtainium Gear. The recipe also uses Echo Shard, a vanilla item.[4]

ME Souls Cell Housing and Applied Energistics 2
ME Souls Cell Housing uses the ifsoulsdisks namespace, not the namespace of the Souls mod. The pack changed its recipe too. It combines Quartz Glass with a Soul Surge, so the Allthemodium ingredient above is needed here as well.[4]

Where it sits in the quest book
The Souls items appear in the "Industrial Foregoing" chapter, which is in the "Production" group and is chapter 38 of 44 in the book. a quest in "Industrial Foregoing" comes after a quest in "Industrial Foregoing", and a quest in "Industrial Foregoing" comes after the Soul Laser Base quest. The Soul Pipe quest asks for both Soul Surge and Soul Pipe.[3]
The sources show no other recipes or quests that combine this mod with items from further mods.[3][4]
Which Project Infinity 0.1 quests use Industrial Foregoing: Souls?
3 parts
This pack's quest book places the mod in its Industrial Foregoing chapter, in the Production group. Two quests in that chapter ask you to hand in items from this mod.[3]
The two soul quests
- a quest in "Industrial Foregoing" asks you to hand in the Soul Laser Base. The book lists it after a quest in "Industrial Foregoing".[3]
- a quest in "Industrial Foregoing" asks for two items: the Soul Surge and the Soul Pipe. The book lists it after the Soul Laser Base quest.[3]
The route there
- Start with the checkmark quest a quest in "Industrial Foregoing", then a quest in "Industrial Foregoing".[3]
- The Fluid Extractor branch runs a quest in "Industrial Foregoing", then a quest in "Industrial Foregoing", then a quest in "Industrial Foregoing" (which asks for dry rubber and plastic), then a quest in "Industrial Foregoing". a quest in "Industrial Foregoing" is listed after that.[3]
- The other branch runs a quest in "Industrial Foregoing", then a quest in "Industrial Foregoing".[3]
- a quest in "Industrial Foregoing" is listed after both the Pink Slime Bucket quest and the Simple Machine Frame quest.[3]
- Then comes a quest in "Industrial Foregoing", followed by a quest in "Industrial Foregoing".[3]
The Soul Laser Base quest is one of several listed after the Advanced Machine Frame quest. The others are a quest in "Industrial Foregoing", a quest in "Industrial Foregoing", a quest in "Industrial Foregoing", a quest in "Industrial Foregoing", a quest in "Industrial Foregoing", a quest in "Industrial Foregoing", a quest in "Industrial Foregoing", a quest in "Industrial Foregoing" and a quest in "Industrial Foregoing".[3]
The rest of the chapter
The speed, efficiency and processing addon quests are listed after the Dissolution Chamber quest. Each has a tier 1 quest followed by a tier 2 quest, and a final untitled checkmark quest is listed after all three tier 2 quests.[3]
a quest in "Industrial Foregoing" asks for three items: the fluid laser base, the ore laser base and the laser drill. a quest in "Industrial Foregoing" is listed after it, then a quest in "Industrial Foregoing". After the Supreme Machine Frame quest come a quest in "Industrial Foregoing", a quest in "Industrial Foregoing" and a quest in "Industrial Foregoing".[3]
Which Industrial Foregoing: Souls config options matter?
4 parts
Most of this mod's config is about how fast you get souls out of a Warden and how hard the Soul Surge pushes your machines. Good news: the pack leaves almost everything at the mod default. One value is different, so start there.[1][5]
The one value the pack changed
Soul Laser Base
- IFSoulsMachines.ConfigSoulLaserBase.SOUL_STORAGE_AMOUNT is 1350, the size of the soul tank. This matches the mod default.[1][5]
- IFSoulsMachines.ConfigSoulLaserBase.MAX_PROGRESS is 20, the machine's max progress. This matches the mod default.[1][5]
- IFSoulsMachines.ConfigSoulLaserBase.DAMAGE_PER_OPERATION is 4, the damage dealt to the Warden each time an operation finishes. This matches the mod default.[1][5]
- IFSoulsMachines.ConfigSoulLaserBase.KILL_WARDEN is false, so the Warden is kept alive when its life gets near 0 instead of being killed. This matches the mod default.[1][5]
Soul Surge
IFSoulsMachines.ConfigSoulSurge.SOUL_TIME is 300 ticks, which the mod page describes as 15 seconds per soul. The mod page also says a soul makes the machine 4 times faster by default, and the pack's IFSoulsMachines.ConfigSoulSurge.ACCELERATION_TICK is 4 extra ticks for tile entities, the same as the mod default.[1][5]
- IFSoulsMachines.ConfigSoulSurge.BLOCK_ACCELERATION_TICK is 4 extra ticks for blocks.[5]
- IFSoulsMachines.ConfigSoulSurge.ENTITIES_ACCELERATION_TICK is 4 extra ticks for mobs.[5]
- IFSoulsMachines.ConfigSoulSurge.RANDOM_TICK_ACCELERATION_CHANCE is 0.03, so random tick blocks are accelerated on 3% of the ticks.[5]
IFSoulsMachines.ConfigSoulSurge.SOUL_SURGE_IGNORE_BLOCKS lists blocks the Soul Surge will not speed up. In this pack it covers the whole Project Expansion power flower line, from basic_power_flower to final_power_flower, and the Solar Flux panels sp_1 to sp_8, the Draconic Evolution ones (wyvern, draconic, chaotic) and the two Avaritia ones (neutronium, infinity). The mod page also says you can block other blocks with the block tag industrialforegoingsouls:cant_accelerate.[1][5]
Pipes and particles
- IFSoulsMachines.SOUL_AMOUNT_PER_PIPE is 4, the number of souls each Soul Pipe can hold.[5]
- IFSoulsClient.SOUL_PIPES_PARTICLES is 0.1 on a scale from 0 (no particles) to 1 (full particles). It is a client setting, so you can raise it if you want busier pipes.[7]
