What is Compact Mekanism Machines?
Compact Mekanism Machines is part of this pack. The pack ships version 0.1.9 of the mod (file compactmekanismmachines-0.1.9.jar).[1]
It isn't a recent addition either. The mod was already included by pack version 0.0.45.4 or earlier, so it has been part of the pack for a good while.[1]
The sources I have for this mod only cover its version and when it arrived in the pack. They don't describe what its machines do, and they don't place the mod in a quest book chapter or group, so I'm leaving those details out rather than guessing.[1]
How do you get started with Compact Mekanism Machines?
4 parts
Welcome to Compact Mekanism Machines! In this pack the mod gives you compressed versions of Mekanism Generators machines, and the best place to start is the Wind Generator line. It is a long upgrade chain where every tier is built from the one before it.[2][3]
Every recipe for this mod's items is a shaped table recipe from Extended Crafting, so you'll need that crafting table before you begin. The pack has changed the wind generator and turbine recipes, so ignore what you remember from the mod's defaults and follow the recipes shown here.[2]
Start with the Wind Generator line
Your first craft is Wind Generator x2. It is made from a regular Wind Generator, so you can make it as soon as you have the Mekanism Generators basics.[2]

After that, each tier uses the previous one as an ingredient. Work through them in this order:[2]
- Make Wind Generator x8 from the x2.[2]
- Make Wind Generator x32 from the x8.[2]
- Make Wind Generator x128. This one needs two of the x32.[2]
- Make Wind Generator x512. This one needs two of the x128.[2]
- Continue through Wind Generator x2048, Wind Generator x8192, Wind Generator x32768 and Wind Generator x131072, each built from the tier below it.[2]

The top of the chain
The final step, Wind Generator x532480, is added by the pack and is a shapeless recipe: two of the x131072 plus one Infinity 10 item. Its in-game description says its power generation is 530,000.[2][3]

Big machines for later
The mod also adds the Compact Industrial Turbine and the Compact Fission Reactor. Both have long ingredient lists with many late-game alloys and parts, so treat them as goals for later rather than first crafts. The turbine recipe is changed by the pack. The fission reactor has two recipes added by the pack.[2]

Config
The mod's common config only has a few options: items, logDirtBlock, magicNumber and magicNumberIntroduction. They are described as logging and message settings, so you don't need to touch them to get started.[4]
Unverified The mod also has a Compact Thermal Evaporation Plant, but no recipe for it appears in the pack's recipe data I was given, so how to obtain it is unverified.
How does Compact Mekanism Machines work?
4 parts
The sources I have for this mod cover what it adds and how the pack makes you craft it. They don't explain the internal mechanics, so this section stays short and sticks to what is confirmed.[2][3]
What the mod adds
The mod's language file lists the Compact Fission Reactor, the Compact Industrial Turbine and a Compact Thermal Evaporation Plant as machines. It also lists a long line of compressed wind generators, from Wind Generator x2 up to Wind Generator x532480.[3]
The top generator's description text reads "My power generation is 530,000." That is the only power figure in the sources I have, so treat it as the mod's own flavour text rather than a verified output for this pack.[3]
The wind generator ladder
In this pack every compressed wind generator is crafted on an Extended Crafting shaped table, and each one is built from the generator one step below it. Wind Generator x2 starts from a regular Mekanism Generators wind generator. Then the chain runs x8, x32, x128, x512, x2048, x8192, x32768 and finally Wind Generator x131072.[5][6][7][8][9][10][11][12][13]
The crafting pattern gets bigger as you climb: the lower tiers use small grids and the top ones, x32768 and x131072, use the largest pattern in the chain.[5][6][7][8][9][10][11][12][13]
The pack has changed these recipes. The recipe dump marks the x2, x128 and x131072 recipes as changed by the pack, so don't expect the mod's default recipes here. Here are the lowest and highest of the ones I can show:[2]

Fission reactor and industrial turbine
The Compact Fission Reactor has recipes added by the pack, and they are the same apart from one ingredient: the first uses basic chemical tanks, and the second uses chemical tank tokens from the pack's own scripts.[2]

The Compact Industrial Turbine is also crafted on an Extended Crafting shaped table, using the largest pattern style, and the pack changed its recipe.[2][14]

Config
The mod's common config in this pack has items, logDirtBlock, magicNumber and magicNumberIntroduction. Their descriptions only talk about logging items and a message on common setup, so this file is not where you tune machines.[4]
Unverified The sources don't confirm the power output of each wind generator, how the fission reactor, turbine and thermal evaporation plant work in play, or how they handle power, fluids and items for automation.
How do you progress through Compact Mekanism Machines?
5 parts
In this pack, Compact Mekanism Machines gives you a long ladder of compressed wind generators, plus a Compact Fission Reactor and a Compact Industrial Turbine. Nearly all of it is crafted in the Extended Crafting table, and the pack has rewritten the recipes, so don't rely on what you remember from the mod's defaults.[2]
The wind generator ladder
The wind generators run from Wind Generator x2 all the way up to Wind Generator x532480. Every step needs the previous tier as an ingredient, so you climb one rung at a time. The pack changed the recipes for every tier from x2 to x131072. The final x532480 recipe was added by the pack.[2]
- Wind Generator x2: your entry point, built around a regular Mekanism wind generator.[2][5]
- Wind Generator x8: built from the x2.[2]
- Wind Generator x32: built from the x8.[2]
- Wind Generator x128: built from the x32, and it brings in an Elite Tier Installer.[2]
- Wind Generator x512: built from the x128, and it brings in an Ultimate Tier Installer.[2]
- Wind Generator x2048: built from the x512.[2]
- Wind Generator x8192: built from the x2048.[2]
- Wind Generator x32768: built from the x8192, and it brings in a Cosmic Tier Installer.[2]
- Wind Generator x131072: built from the x32768, and it brings in a Supreme Tier Installer.[2]
- Wind Generator x532480: two x131072 generators combined. This is the only one in the chain that uses a shapeless crafting recipe instead of the Extended Crafting table.[2]
The crafting patterns also get bigger as you go. The x2 recipe is a small plus-shaped pattern, and its script sets the table tier to 2. The x32 and x128 recipes use a larger grid, x2048 a bigger one still, and x32768 and x131072 use the largest grids in the chain.[5][7][8][10][12][13]

Fission reactor and industrial turbine
The Compact Fission Reactor has two recipes, and the pack added both of them. They are crafted in the Extended Crafting table. The only difference between them is the chemical tank part: one uses Basic Chemical Tanks, the other uses a chemical tank token item from the pack's scripts.[2]

How does Compact Mekanism Machines work with other mods?
3 parts
Compact Mekanism Machines doesn't stand alone in this pack. Every recipe that connects it to other mods runs through the Extended Crafting shaped table, except the very last wind generator, which uses a plain shapeless crafting recipe. Your materials come from Mekanism and its add-ons, Industrial Foregoing, Void Miners and a few more.[2]
The wind generator chain
The compressed wind generators are a ladder where each step feeds the next. The pack changed the recipes for every tier up to x131072, and it added the x532480 recipe itself. The first rung starts from a plain Wind Generator.[2]

The start of the ladder, built from a Mekanism Generators wind generator.
- Wind Generator x8 adds a Turbine Casing to the x2 generator, plus Mekanism alloys.[2][6]
- Wind Generator x32 builds on the x8 generator and brings in a Simple Machine Frame (Simple Machine Frame) from Industrial Foregoing.[2]
- Wind Generator x128 takes two x32 generators, an Elite Tier Installer and Aurantium from Void Miners.[2][8]
- Wind Generator x512 takes two x128 generators, a Ultimate Tier Installer, a Teleportation Core and Citrinetine.[2]
- Wind Generator x2048 adds Verdium, an Advanced Machine Frame (Advanced Machine Frame) and an Overclocked Control Circuit from Evolved Mekanism.[2][10]
- Wind Generator x8192 adds Azurine, a Supreme Machine Frame (Supreme Machine Frame) and a Black Iron Frame (Black Iron Frame).[2]
- Wind Generator x32768 needs Infinity 8, a Cosmic Tier Installer, Caerium and an SPS Casing, among other things.[2]
- Wind Generator x131072 needs Infinity 9, a Supreme Tier Installer and Rosarium, plus the four Evolved Mekanism alloys.[2][13]
- Wind Generator x532480 is the top of the ladder: two x131072 generators and an Infinity 10, crafted shapeless.[2]

Compact Fission Reactor
The Compact Fission Reactor is a pack-added recipe, and it is a big one. It draws on Mekanism Generators reactor parts and on a long run of alloys and circuits from Mekanism, Evolved Mekanism and Mekanism Extras. The two versions below differ only in the chemical tank slot.[2]
- Reactor shell parts: Fission Reactor Casing and Reactor Glass.[2]
- Reactor internals: Control Rod Assembly and Fission Fuel Assembly.[2]
- Pellets: Antimatter Pellet and Polonium Pellet.[2]
There are two versions of the recipe. One uses four Basic Chemical Tank. The other swaps those for four Chemical Tank Token.[2]

Compact Industrial Turbine
The pack changed the recipe for the Compact Industrial Turbine. It mixes Mekanism Generators turbine parts with materials from NuclearCraft, Just Dire Things and PneumaticCraft. The recipe block below shows the exact layout.[2]
- Turbine parts: Turbine Valve and Turbine Vent.[2]
- Power parts: Electromagnetic Coil and Rotational Complex.[2]
- Other mods' alloys: Eclipse Alloy Ingot and Tough Alloy Ingot.[2]
- PneumaticCraft buckets: Biodiesel Bucket and LPG Bucket.[2]
- More PneumaticCraft buckets: Memory Essence Bucket and Yeast Culture Bucket.[2]

Which Compact Mekanism Machines config options matter?
Compact Mekanism Machines has a small common config, and it's all in one file: items and its neighbours. Here's exactly what this pack sets.[4]
- items is set to a list with one entry, Iron Ingot. The file describes it as a list of items to log on common setup.[4]
- logDirtBlock is set to true. It controls whether the dirt block is logged on common setup.[4]
- magicNumber is set to 42, and the allowed range is anything above 0. The file simply calls it a magic number.[4]
- magicNumberIntroduction is set to "The magic number is... ". It's the introduction message used for the magic number.[4]
Going by the descriptions in the file, these options deal with logging on common setup and a message, not with machine behaviour. I can't see anything in them that changes how the machines work.[4]
Unverified The sources only show this pack's values, not the mod's own defaults, so it's unconfirmed whether the pack changed any of these options.
