FTB StoneBlock 4 1.23.0 ships version 1.1.1 · First seen in 1.0.0
Trash Cans is a mod in FTB StoneBlock 4 1.23.0, where it is version 1.1.1. Trash Cans adds trash cans which can be used to void items, liquids, and energy! (Summary from the mod's Modrinth page.)
Stuck? Why it might not be working
- Game crashes when an accelerated Extended Export Bus feeds a Trash CanRead from the jars and not run in game: in All the Mods 10 8.2, at the default multiplier, an Extended Export Bus from ExtendedAE asks its neighbour for 8, 64, 256, 512 or 768 items at 0, 1, 2, 3 or 4 speed cards, in one go. By the research's inference, ExtendedAE's Precise Export Bus asks for over 99 at 2 or more cards outside pulse mode, and AdvancedAE's ME Advanced IO Bus asks for up to the same amounts. Trash Cans 1.1.0 accepts the whole stack and keeps it in a list it later saves, and Minecraft's save format allows a stack count of 1 to 99 only. A 768 stack throws an error on save, and the game crashes. Do not feed those buses at 2 or more speed cards into a Trash Can. Trash Cans 1.1.1 is reported to fix it. 8.2 ships 1.1.0.Written for other versions than FTB StoneBlock 4 1.23.0 ships. Some steps may no longer match.

What is Trash Cans?
3 parts
Same as in the All the Mods - Gravitas 4.0 guide
Trash Cans is a simple utility mod that gives you a way to get rid of things you don't want. It adds trash cans that can void items, fluids (liquids and gasses) and energy. This pack includes version 1.0.18 of the mod.[1][2]
The four trash cans
- Item Trash Can: voids items, and you can set up item filters in its GUI.[1]
- Fluid Trash Can: voids liquids and gasses, with fluid filters in its GUI.[1]
- Energy Trash Can: voids energy, and you can set a transfer limit in its GUI.[1]
- Ultimate Trash Can: handles items, fluids and energy in one block, with the same item and fluid filters and the same energy transfer limit.[1]
Items and fluids can be filtered with either a whitelist or a blacklist. That lets you void only the junk you pick, or everything except the things you want to keep.[1]
Who it's for
It's for anyone whose machines keep producing byproducts, whose tanks are overflowing, or whose energy network needs somewhere to dump surplus power. The mod has no cap on how much it can void or how fast, so a trash can won't become a bottleneck in your setup.[1]
Where it fits in the pack
The sources don't place Trash Cans at any particular stage of progression. No quests in this pack involve it, and it isn't on the ATM Star path. Treat it as an optional quality-of-life block that you can craft whenever you need it. The mod also has no in-jar guidebook.[1][2]
How do you get started with Trash Cans?
5 parts
Trash Cans is a small mod, and each of its trash cans voids a different kind of thing. In this pack they all have regular crafting recipes, so you can build the whole set. Here is the order I would make them in, and why.[1][3]
First: Item Trash Can
Start with the Item Trash Can. It voids items and has a filter for up to 9 items. Items can be whitelisted or blacklisted, so you can choose what gets voided and what does not.[1][3][4]

Second: Liquid Trash Can
Next comes the Liquid Trash Can. It voids liquids and gasses, and it also has a filter for up to 9 fluids, which can be whitelisted or blacklisted too.[1][3][4]

Third: Energy Trash Can
The Energy Trash Can voids energy. It can also limit the energy transfer rate, and you set that limit inside its GUI.[1][3][4]

Last: Ultimate Trash Can
Once you have the item, liquid and energy cans, you can combine them into the Ultimate Trash Can. It voids items, fluids and energy in one block, with item and fluid filters and an energy transfer limit. Crafting it also earns you an advancement.[1][3][4]
A shapeless recipe that uses one of each basic can.
Good to know
- Accidental deletion is covered: retrieveDeletedItems is set to true in this pack. That lets you retrieve recently deleted items from the trash can screen, and the mod page says it keeps up to the last 6.[1][5]
- Voiding Mekanism radioactive fluids is off: allowVoidingNuclearWaste is set to false in this pack, so you would need to change that option to void nuclear waste.[1][5]
- The mod page says there is no limit on how much or how fast you can void items, fluids and energy.[1]
How does Trash Cans work?
5 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide
Trash Cans is a simple mod with one job: getting rid of things you don't want. Each can voids a different resource: items, fluids, or energy. The Ultimate Trash Can can void items, fluids and energy in one block.[1][6]
The cans
- Item Trash Can voids items and has a filter that holds up to 9 items.[6][7]
- Liquid Trash Can voids liquids and gasses and has a filter that holds up to 9 fluids.[1][6][7]
- Energy Trash Can voids energy and can also limit the energy transfer rate.[6][7]
- Ultimate Trash Can voids items, fluids and energy in a single block.[6][7]
Filters and limits
Items and fluids can be whitelisted or blacklisted, and you set the filters inside the can's GUI. The energy can's transfer limit is also set in its GUI.[1]
The Ultimate Trash Can combines the other cans' behaviors. It has filters for items and liquids, plus a limit for energy transfer.[1]
Getting items back
If you void something by accident, you can retrieve it. The mod keeps up to the last 6 deleted items.[1]
Crafting
In this pack, the item, fluid and energy cans each use a shaped crafting recipe from the mod. The Ultimate Trash Can uses a shapeless recipe that combines the other cans.[7]

What the sources don't confirm
Unverified The mod's project page says voiding Mekanism nuclear waste is disabled by default and can be enabled in the config file. The sources here show no config file for Trash Cans in this pack, so whether you can change that setting here is unverified.
How do you progress through Trash Cans?
2 parts
The Trash Cans progression in this pack is short. You get the Item Trash Can, the Liquid Trash Can and the Energy Trash Can as the basic cans, and the Ultimate Trash Can sits on top of them. Each can has its own in-pack crafting recipe.[3]
The basic cans
The item, liquid and energy cans are all shaped crafting recipes. None of them needs another can as an ingredient, so you can start with whichever kind of waste you want to get rid of. Here they are exactly as the pack has them.[3]

The Ultimate Trash Can
The Ultimate Trash Can is the top of the line. Its recipe is shapeless and combines the other cans, so you craft those first and then put them together in the grid.[3]
Shapeless crafting recipe, so the layout in the grid does not matter.
Which Trash Cans config options matter?
Trash Cans keeps its config small. There are two options in the common config, and in this pack both are left at the mod's default values, so nothing has been changed from stock.[5]
- retrieveDeletedItems is set to true in the pack, which is also the default. It lets you retrieve recently deleted items from the trash can screen, so you can recover something you voided by accident. The mod page says up to the last 6 deleted items can be retrieved.[1][5]
- allowVoidingNuclearWaste is set to false in the pack, which is also the default. This controls whether radioactive fluids from Mekanism can be voided. The mod page notes you can enable it in the config file if you want to.[1][5]
What changed in Trash Cans between versions?
2 parts
FTB StoneBlock 4 1.21.0 ships Trash Cans 1.1.0, and the mod has been in the pack since StoneBlock 4 1.0.0 or earlier. Here's what changed in the mod's own releases, newest first. These come from the mod's changelogs, so they describe the mod itself rather than any pack-specific tweaks.[8][9]
Trash Cans 1.1.0 (the version in this pack)
- New tab on the trash can screen that lets you retrieve up to the last 6 deleted items, handy when you bin something by mistake.[8]
- New config option to disable retrieving deleted items, if you'd rather deletion be final.[8]
- Improved item and fluid interaction with other mods.[8]
- Fixed the targets for dragging items from JEI being offset, and fixed dragging from JEI not working for fluids.[8]
- Added Japanese and Turkish translations, and updated the Russian translations.[8]
Earlier releases
- 1.0.18c: fixed a crash when breaking a trash can block that uses an enchanted item in its filter.[8][10]
- 1.0.18b: fixed trash cans not connecting to Mekanism gas pipes.[8][10]
- 1.0.18a: accounted for breaking changes in Mekanism.[8][10]
- 1.0.18: the initial release of Trash Cans for Minecraft 1.21.[8][10]
