Trash Cans in All the Mods 10
All the Mods 10 8.3 ships version 1.1.1 · First seen in 0.36
Trash Cans is a mod in All the Mods 10 8.3, where it is version 1.1.1. Trash Cans adds trash cans which can be used to void items, liquids, and energy! (Summary from the mod's Modrinth page.)
Stuck? Why it might not be working
- Game crashes when an accelerated Extended Export Bus feeds a Trash CanRead from the jars and not run in game: in All the Mods 10 8.2, at the default multiplier, an Extended Export Bus from ExtendedAE asks its neighbour for 8, 64, 256, 512 or 768 items at 0, 1, 2, 3 or 4 speed cards, in one go. By the research's inference, ExtendedAE's Precise Export Bus asks for over 99 at 2 or more cards outside pulse mode, and AdvancedAE's ME Advanced IO Bus asks for up to the same amounts. Trash Cans 1.1.0 accepts the whole stack and keeps it in a list it later saves, and Minecraft's save format allows a stack count of 1 to 99 only. A 768 stack throws an error on save, and the game crashes. Do not feed those buses at 2 or more speed cards into a Trash Can. Trash Cans 1.1.1 is reported to fix it. 8.2 ships 1.1.0.Written for other versions than All the Mods 10 8.3 ships. Some steps may no longer match.

What is Trash Cans?
2 parts
Trash Cans is a simple utility mod with one job: getting rid of things you don't want. It adds cans that void items, fluids and energy, so your storage, tanks and power network don't clog up with excess. The pack includes version 1.1.0.[1][2]
The cans
- Item Trash Can voids items, and you can set filters in its GUI.[1][3]
- Liquid Trash Can voids liquids and gasses, with fluid filters in its GUI.[1][3]
- Energy Trash Can voids energy, and you can set a transfer limit in its GUI.[1][3]
- Ultimate Trash Can combines the others: it voids items, fluids and energy, with item and fluid filters and an energy transfer limit.[1][4]
Item and fluid filters can work as a whitelist or a blacklist. The mod also has no cap on how much it can void or how fast, so one can will handle whatever you throw at it.[1]
Where it fits in the pack
The quest "Trash Cans" quest sits in the Basic Storage chapter. It asks you to get the item, liquid and energy cans, and describes them as a way to destroy unwanted items, liquid and power.[3]
The Mekanism: Reactors chapter has "Toss it!" quest, which comes after the Steam quest. It asks for an Ultimate Trash Can and suggests piping excess Steam into it if you'd rather play it safe with your reactor than make more energy.[4]
The mod can also void Mekanism nuclear waste, but that option is disabled by default and is enabled in the mod's config file.[1]
Unverified Whether the ATM Star path uses this mod is not shown by the sources here. The quest chapters above are the only places the sources place it.
How do you get started with Trash Cans?
5 parts
Trash Cans gives you a way to destroy items, liquids and power you don't need. The pack has a quest for it, "Trash Cans" quest, in the Basic Storage chapter. Its tasks are the item, liquid and energy cans.[1][3]
Start with the Item Trash Can
Make the Item Trash Can first, because clutter in your inventory and chests is the problem you'll hit earliest. It voids items and has a filter for up to 9 items. You set that filter inside its GUI, and items can be whitelisted or blacklisted, so you choose exactly what it destroys.[1][3][5]

Add the Liquid Trash Can
Next comes the Liquid Trash Can. It voids liquids and gasses, and it has a filter for up to 9 fluids. Fluids can be whitelisted or blacklisted too, so you can void only the leftovers you don't want.[1][3][5]

Make the Energy Trash Can
The Energy Trash Can voids energy. It can also limit the energy transfer rate, and you set that limit inside its GUI.[1][3][5]

Combine them into the Ultimate Trash Can
Once you have the item, liquid and energy cans, you can combine them into the Ultimate Trash Can. It voids items, fluids and energy in one block. The recipe is shapeless and uses those other cans, which is why you make them first.[5][6]
Where you'll use it next
The quest "Toss it!" quest in the Mekanism: Reactors chapter comes after the Steam quest and asks for an Ultimate Trash Can. The idea is that if you don't need the extra energy and want your reactor to be as safe as possible, you can tube the Steam into the Ultimate Trash Can and delete it.[4]
The mod's page says there's no limit on how much or how fast you can void, so one can keeps up with a busy setup.[1]
How does Trash Cans work?
5 parts
Trash Cans is a simple mod with one job: getting rid of things you don't want. Each can voids a different resource: items, fluids, or energy. The Ultimate Trash Can can void items, fluids and energy in one block.[1][5]
The cans
- Item Trash Can voids items and has a filter that holds up to 9 items.[5][6]
- Liquid Trash Can voids liquids and gasses and has a filter that holds up to 9 fluids.[1][5][6]
- Energy Trash Can voids energy and can also limit the energy transfer rate.[5][6]
- Ultimate Trash Can voids items, fluids and energy in a single block.[5][6]
Filters and limits
Items and fluids can be whitelisted or blacklisted, and you set the filters inside the can's GUI. The energy can's transfer limit is also set in its GUI.[1]
The Ultimate Trash Can combines the other cans' behaviors. It has filters for items and liquids, plus a limit for energy transfer.[1]
Getting items back
If you void something by accident, you can retrieve it. The mod keeps up to the last 6 deleted items.[1]
Crafting
In this pack, the item, fluid and energy cans each use a shaped crafting recipe from the mod. The Ultimate Trash Can uses a shapeless recipe that combines the other cans.[6]

What the sources don't confirm
Unverified The mod's project page says voiding Mekanism nuclear waste is disabled by default and can be enabled in the config file. The sources here show no config file for Trash Cans in this pack, so whether you can change that setting here is unverified.
How do you progress through Trash Cans?
2 parts
Trash Cans in this pack start with a set of basic cans for items, liquids and energy, and the Ultimate Trash Can sits at the top. The pack's quest book introduces them in the Basic Storage chapter with the "Trash Cans" quest quest, which describes Trash Cans as a way to destroy unwanted items, liquid, and power.[3]
The basic cans
The Trash Cans quest asks you to obtain the Item Trash Can, the Liquid Trash Can and the Energy Trash Can. Each handles a different thing you might want to get rid of: items, liquids and power.[3]
Each basic can has its own shaped crafting recipe in the pack, shown below.[6]

The Ultimate Trash Can
The Ultimate Trash Can is the top of the line. Its recipe in the pack is shapeless, so the layout does not matter.[6]

The quest book also asks for it later, in the Mekanism: Reactors chapter, with the "Toss it!" quest quest, which comes after the Steam quest. The idea is that if you don't need more energy and want your reactor to be as safe as possible, you can tube the Steam into an Ultimate Trash Can and delete it. The quest points out that Steam is pretty much only used by Turbines to make energy.[4]
Which All the Mods 10 quests use Trash Cans?
2 parts
Trash Cans appear in the Basic Storage and Mekanism: Reactors quest chapters of the pack. The first introduces the mod, and the second uses the Ultimate Trash Can to get rid of Steam.[3][4]
Basic Storage
The quest "Trash Cans" quest is where you meet the mod. Its subtitle is "Getting Rid of The Excess", and the quest explains that Trash Cans destroy unwanted items, liquid and power.[3]
The quest asks you to get each of these cans:[3]
- Item Trash Can for destroying unwanted items.[3]
- Liquid Trash Can for destroying unwanted liquid.[3]
- Energy Trash Can for destroying unwanted power.[3]
Mekanism: Reactors
The other quest is "Toss it!" quest, in the Mekanism: Reactors chapter. It comes after the Steam quest in that chapter, and its task is to get an Ultimate Trash Can.[4]
The idea is to delete Steam you don't need. The quest says Steam is pretty much only used by Turbines to make energy, so if you don't need more energy and would rather play it safe with your reactor, you can tube the Steam into an Ultimate Trash Can.[4]
