Trash Cans is a mod in FTB Skies 2: Aero 1.13.0, where it is version 1.0.18+c. Trash Cans adds trash cans which can be used to void items, liquids, and energy! (Summary from the mod's Modrinth page.)
Stuck? Why it might not be working
- Game crashes when an accelerated Extended Export Bus feeds a Trash CanRead from the jars and not run in game: in All the Mods 10 8.2, at the default multiplier, an Extended Export Bus from ExtendedAE asks its neighbour for 8, 64, 256, 512 or 768 items at 0, 1, 2, 3 or 4 speed cards, in one go. By the research's inference, ExtendedAE's Precise Export Bus asks for over 99 at 2 or more cards outside pulse mode, and AdvancedAE's ME Advanced IO Bus asks for up to the same amounts. Trash Cans 1.1.0 accepts the whole stack and keeps it in a list it later saves, and Minecraft's save format allows a stack count of 1 to 99 only. A 768 stack throws an error on save, and the game crashes. Do not feed those buses at 2 or more speed cards into a Trash Can. Trash Cans 1.1.1 is reported to fix it. 8.2 ships 1.1.0.Written for other versions than FTB Skies 2: Aero 1.13.0 ships. Some steps may no longer match.

What is Trash Cans?
3 parts
Same as in the All the Mods - Gravitas 4.0 guide
Trash Cans is a simple utility mod that gives you a way to get rid of things you don't want. It adds trash cans that can void items, fluids (liquids and gasses) and energy. This pack includes version 1.0.18 of the mod.[1][2]
The four trash cans
- Item Trash Can: voids items, and you can set up item filters in its GUI.[1]
- Fluid Trash Can: voids liquids and gasses, with fluid filters in its GUI.[1]
- Energy Trash Can: voids energy, and you can set a transfer limit in its GUI.[1]
- Ultimate Trash Can: handles items, fluids and energy in one block, with the same item and fluid filters and the same energy transfer limit.[1]
Items and fluids can be filtered with either a whitelist or a blacklist. That lets you void only the junk you pick, or everything except the things you want to keep.[1]
Who it's for
It's for anyone whose machines keep producing byproducts, whose tanks are overflowing, or whose energy network needs somewhere to dump surplus power. The mod has no cap on how much it can void or how fast, so a trash can won't become a bottleneck in your setup.[1]
Where it fits in the pack
The sources don't place Trash Cans at any particular stage of progression. No quests in this pack involve it, and it isn't on the ATM Star path. Treat it as an optional quality-of-life block that you can craft whenever you need it. The mod also has no in-jar guidebook.[1][2]
How do you get started with Trash Cans?
5 parts
Trash Cans has one job: getting rid of things you don't want. Each can voids a different kind of thing, and the ultimate can combines them all. Here is the order I'd build them in.[1][3]
Start with the item trash can
Make Item Trash Can first. It voids items and has a filter for up to 9 items. Items can be whitelisted or blacklisted, and you set the filter inside its screen.[1][3]
Crafting Shaped

| any cobblestone | any wooden chest | any cobblestone |
| any cobblestone | any cobblestone | any cobblestone |
Recipe id: trashcans:item_trash_can
This is the mod's own recipe, not changed by the pack.
Add the liquid trash can
Next comes Liquid Trash Can. It voids liquids and gasses and has a filter for up to 9 fluids.[3]
Crafting Shaped
| any stone | any stone | any stone |
| any cobblestone | any empty bucket | any cobblestone |
| any cobblestone | any cobblestone | any cobblestone |
Recipe id: trashcans:liquid_trash_can
Also the mod's own recipe.
Then the energy trash can
Energy Trash Can voids energy, and you can limit its energy transfer rate. This is the recipe the pack changed, so follow the one below rather than the mod's default.[3][4]
Crafting Shaped
| any stone | any stone | any stone |
| any cobblestone | any cobblestone | |
| any cobblestone | any cobblestone | any cobblestone |
Recipe id: trashcans:energy_trash_can
The pack changed this recipe from the mod's version.
Finish with the ultimate trash can
Once you have the item, liquid and energy cans, you can combine them into Ultimate Trash Can. It voids items, fluids and energy in a single block. The recipe is shapeless, so the layout doesn't matter.[3][4]
Mekanism nuclear waste
Voiding Mekanism nuclear waste is off in this pack: allowVoidingNuclearWaste is set to false. You can enable it in that config file if you want the cans to accept it.[1][5]
How does Trash Cans work?
4 parts
Trash Cans is a small mod with a simple job: it adds cans that void items, fluids and energy for you. You pick the can for what you want gone, set its filter or limit in its GUI, and feed it.[1]
The cans
- Item Trash Can voids items and has a filter for up to 9 items.[3][4]
- Liquid Trash Can voids liquids and gasses and has a filter for up to 9 fluids.[3][4]
- Energy Trash Can voids energy and can also limit the energy transfer rate.[3][4]
- Ultimate Trash Can voids items, fluids and energy in a single block.[3][4]
Filters and limits
Item and fluid filters can work as a whitelist or a blacklist, and you set them inside the can's GUI. The energy transfer limit is also set in the GUI. The ultimate can gives you the item filter, the fluid filter and the energy limit together.[1]
There is no cap on how much a can will void, or how fast. You can void items, fluids and energy as much and as fast as you want.[1]
Mekanism nuclear waste
The mod can void Mekanism nuclear waste, but only if you allow it. In this pack allowVoidingNuclearWaste is set to false, which is also the mod's default, so nuclear waste voiding is off unless you change that setting.[1][5]

The pack changed this recipe, so it differs from the mod's default.
This is a shapeless recipe from the mod, and it is built from the energy, item and liquid trash cans.
Crafting the ultimate trash can also earns you its own advancement.[3]
How do you progress through Trash Cans?
4 parts
The Trash Cans mod has a simple tier path in this pack. You craft the basic cans for items, liquids and energy, then combine them into the Ultimate Trash Can.[4]
Item Trash Can
The Item Trash Can is the natural starting point. It is a shaped crafting recipe, and the pack leaves the mod's own recipe as it is. It accepts any item from the wooden chest, cobblestone and stone tags, so you are not locked into one specific block.[4]
Crafting Shaped
| any stone | any stone | any stone |
| any cobblestone | any wooden chest | any cobblestone |
| any cobblestone | any cobblestone | any cobblestone |
Recipe id: trashcans:item_trash_can
This is the mod's own recipe, unchanged by the pack.
Liquid Trash Can
The Liquid Trash Can is also a shaped recipe from the mod, unchanged by the pack. It follows the same pattern as the item can, but it uses the empty bucket tag in place of the chest tag, so any empty bucket that belongs to that tag will do.[4]

| any cobblestone | any empty bucket | any cobblestone |
| any cobblestone | any cobblestone | any cobblestone |
Recipe id: trashcans:liquid_trash_can
This is the mod's own recipe, unchanged by the pack.
Energy Trash Can
The Energy Trash Can is the recipe the pack has changed. It is a shaped recipe that uses redstone together with the cobblestone and stone tags. If you know this mod from other packs, check the block below, because it shows the version that applies here.[4]

| any stone | any stone | any stone |
| any cobblestone | any cobblestone | |
| any cobblestone | any cobblestone | any cobblestone |
Recipe id: trashcans:energy_trash_can
This recipe is changed by the pack.
Ultimate Trash Can
The Ultimate Trash Can is the top tier. Its recipe is shapeless, so the layout in the crafting grid does not matter. It is crafted from the other cans, so make the item, liquid and energy cans first and then merge them.[4]
This is the mod's own recipe, unchanged by the pack.
Which Trash Cans config options matter?
2 parts
Same as in the All the Mods - Gravitas 4.0 guide
Good news: Trash Cans has very little to configure, and this pack only exposes one option you'll likely care about. It lives in the common config file for the mod.[6]
Voiding nuclear waste
allowVoidingNuclearWaste decides whether your trash cans are allowed to void Mekanism nuclear waste. This pack sets it to false, which is the same as the mod default, so the pack hasn't changed it.[1][6]
What you don't need the config for
Filtering is handled in the trash can's GUI rather than the config. Items and fluids can be whitelisted or blacklisted there, and the Energy Trash Can lets you set a transfer limit in the GUI too.[1]
Unverified Any other options in the Trash Cans config file are not covered by the sources available for this pack, so their values here are unverified.
What changed in Trash Cans between versions?
2 parts
FTB Skies 2: Aero 1.10.0 ships Trash Cans 1.0.18c. The mod was already in the pack by Aero 1.2.0 or earlier, so it has been there from early on.[7]
Releases up to the version in this pack
- 1.0.18: the initial release of Trash Cans for Minecraft 1.21.[8]
- 1.0.18a: updated to account for breaking changes in Mekanism.[8]
- 1.0.18b: fixed trash cans not connecting to Mekanism gas pipes.[8]
- 1.0.18c: fixed a crash when breaking a trash can block that uses an enchanted item in its filter. This is the version you have in Aero 1.10.0.[7][8]
Newer than the pack
Trash Cans 1.1.0 is a later release of the mod. It adds a tab on the trash can screen to retrieve up to the last 6 deleted items, plus a config option to turn that retrieval off. It also improves item and fluid interaction with other mods and fixes JEI dragging for items and fluids. None of that is in Aero 1.10.0, which stays on 1.0.18c.[7][9]
