What is Super Factory Manager?
3 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 2.12 guide
Super Factory Manager is a mod for moving stuff around in Minecraft, and it does that with a programming language. You write a script that describes what should move and where, and the mod runs it for you. Version 4 of the mod replaced the old flowchart-style GUIs with this scripting language.[1]
This pack includes Super Factory Manager 4.19.0 for Minecraft 1.21.1. It has been in the pack since version 0.32 or earlier, so it is a long-standing part of the modpack.[2]
Who it is for
It suits you if you want to automate item movement between inventories and are happy to write or paste a short script instead of wiring up pipes. The project page describes it as a scripting approach, so some trial and error is part of the fun.[1]
What you need to get started
- A Factory Manager, which is the block that runs your program.[1]
- A Program Disk, which goes inside the Manager's GUI and holds your script.[1]
- A Label Gun, which you use to tag the blocks your script refers to.[1]
- Optionally, Inventory Cables to connect the Manager to your inventories.[1]
The basic flow is to place the manager, connect your inventories, put the disk in, and paste in your script. Then you load the labels from the script with the label gun, apply them to your blocks, and save them to the disk.[1]
Where it fits in progression
Unverified The sources I was given do not show any quests, ATM Star path steps or in-jar guidebook entries for this mod, so I can't say where it sits in the pack's progression. Treat it as an optional automation tool that you bring in whenever you want it.
How do you get started with Super Factory Manager?
6 parts
Same as in the FTB StoneBlock 4 1.21.0 guide
Super Factory Manager is a programming language for moving stuff around. Instead of a flowchart GUI, you write a script and the manager runs it. To get going you need a Factory Manager, a Factory Manager Program Disk and a Label Gun. Inventory Cable is optional, but you'll want it to link your inventories to the manager.[1][3]
Factory Manager
The Factory Manager is the block that runs your script, so it comes first. You place it in the world and connect it to your inventories.[1]
Program Disk
The Factory Manager Program Disk goes inside the manager's GUI and holds your script and its labels. You can also right-click a disk in your hand to edit it outside of a manager.[1][3][4]

If you want a nicer look, a Fancy Inventory Cable is a shapeless conversion from a normal cable, and you can convert it back.[3]
Network Tool
The Network Tool shows cables through walls while you hold it. Right-clicking a block face gives you diagnostic info, which helps when a setup isn't doing what you expect. The pack changes this recipe from the mod's own.[3][4]

Setting up your first program
- Place the Factory Manager and connect it to your inventories with Inventory Cables.[1]
- Open the manager's GUI and put the Program Disk inside.[1]
- Paste your script into the GUI with the buttons or Ctrl+V. The manager tells you when the script has loaded.[1][4]
- Hover over the disk to see warnings and errors for your program.[1]
- Shift-right-click the manager with the Label Gun in your hand to load the labels from your program.[1]
- Hold Shift and use the scroll wheel to change the active label, then right-click blocks in the world to apply or remove it.[1]
- Right-click the manager without holding Shift to save the labels to the Program Disk. Your program should then be running.[1]
How does Super Factory Manager work?
6 parts
Super Factory Manager works differently from most automation mods. Instead of pipes with filters, you write a program, store it on a disk, and let a Factory Manager run it on the inventories it can reach through cables. Here is how the pieces fit together.[1][4]
Getting a manager running
You need a Factory Manager, a Factory Manager Program Disk and a Label Gun. Cables are optional. Place the manager, connect it to your inventories, then put the disk in the manager's GUI.[1]
- Place the manager and connect it to your inventories with Inventory Cable blocks.[1]
- Put the program disk inside the manager's GUI.[1]
- Paste your script into the manager GUI with the buttons or with Ctrl+V. The manager tells you when the script was loaded.[1]
- Hover over the disk to see the warnings and errors for your program.[1]
- Shift-right-click the manager with the label gun to load the labels from your program.[1]
- Hold shift and use the scroll wheel to change the active label, then right click blocks in the world to apply or remove it.[1]
- Right click the manager without holding shift to save the labels to the disk. After that your program should be running.[1]
The manager screen shows its state: running, missing disk, no program or invalid program. If a program does not start, check this first. There is also a button to rebuild the cable network, and a logs screen where you can change the log level.[4]
Logging can make statements take longer to execute, and the trace, debug and info levels switch themselves off after a single program execution. The manager screen also shows hovered and peak tick times, which helps when a program feels heavy.[4]
You can also right-click a disk in your hand to edit it outside of a manager.[4]
Labels and the label gun
The label gun pushes labels to the manager or pulls them from it. Pulling happens while you hold the pull modifier key, and releasing it pushes instead. The gun skips blocks that are not touching cables, so make sure every labelled inventory is connected.[4]
Cables
The basic Inventory Cable is what ties inventories to the manager. The pack adds its own recipe for it, which makes 8 cables at a time.[5][6]

This recipe is added by the pack and makes 8 cables per craft.
Fancy Inventory Cable is a variant you get by crafting a normal cable on its own, and you can turn it back the same way. Tough Inventory Cable resists explosions and can use tougher blocks as facades. Both fancy and tough have their own conversion recipes back to the basic cable.[4][6]

Fancy and tough cables have tunnelled versions too, and each cable type has a facade version, so you can disguise your network. Changing or clearing facades asks you to confirm first.[4][6]
Water Tank
The Water Tank needs two adjacent water sources, and it works better when it is also next to other active water tanks. The pack changed its recipe.[4][6]

Printing Press and experience items
The Printing Press is placed with an air gap below a downward facing piston, and you extend the piston to use it. The mod's block tag for printing press forming under an anvil lists iron blocks and copper blocks. JEI also has a Falling Anvil category that marks whether an ingredient is consumed.[4][7]

Enchanted books can be turned into Experience Shard. The pack sets levelsToShards to JustOne, so a book always gives 1 shard no matter its enchantments. The other options are EachOne, SumLevels and SumLevelsScaledExponentially. Crafting 9 shards gives one Experience Goop.[6][8]
Server config
The pack's settings are in config/sfm-server.toml. The timer trigger minimum interval, timerTriggerMinimumIntervalInTicks, is 20 ticks. It drops to 1 tick, via timerTriggerMinimumIntervalInTicksWhenOnlyForgeEnergyIOStatementsPresent, when a trigger only has Forge energy IO statements. Both match the mod defaults.[8]
maxIfStatementsInTriggerBeforeSimulationIsntAllowed is 10, and the number of scenarios checked is 2 to the power of the number of if statements in a trigger. maxDiskProblems is also 10, which is how many problems are annotated on a disk before truncation. Both match the mod defaults.[8]
disallowedResourceTypesForTransfer is empty in the pack, so no resource type is blocked from being moved. logResourceLossToConsole is on.[8]
Unverified The syntax of the program language is not shown in the sources here, because no in-jar guidebook or documentation site was available. The manager screen has a View examples button, which is the place to look in game.
How do you progress through Super Factory Manager?
4 parts
Super Factory Manager in this pack is a chain of crafting upgrades rather than a machine tier ladder. You start with the basic Inventory Cable, branch into fancy, tough and tunnelled versions, and then add a few support items. Here is how each step connects.[6]
The basic Inventory Cable
The pack adds its own recipe for Inventory Cable, and one craft gives you 8 cables. Everything else in the cable family is built on top of this item.[6]

Cable variants
Every other cable is an upgrade of the basic cable or of the fancy one. The fancy and tough versions can be turned back, so a wrong craft is not a loss.[6]
- Fancy Inventory Cable is a shapeless craft from a single Inventory Cable, and a shapeless recipe turns it back into a plain cable.[6]
- Tough Inventory Cable is an upgrade of a plain Inventory Cable, and a shapeless recipe turns it back.[6]

How does Super Factory Manager work with other mods?
2 parts
The pack links Inventory Cable and Factory Manager to other mods through recipes it adds itself. No quests in this pack involve the mod, so these recipes are the whole story.[5][6]
Inventory Cable and the Matter Network Pipe
The pack has its own shaped recipe that makes 8 Inventory Cable at once. It needs a Matter Network Pipe from another mod, so you have to get that far before you can mass-produce cables for your managers.[5][6]

The pack also adds a Custom Machinery recipe that puts a Factory Manager and 4 Inventory Cable into the same recipe as an Energy Processor and an Processing Unit. That is where your manager meets items from other mods.[6]

Which Super Factory Manager config options matter?
2 parts
Same as in the FTB StoneBlock 4 1.21.0 guide
Super Factory Manager splits its settings between a server file and a client file. disableProgramExecution lives in the server file, and the reminder overlays live in the client file. Here is exactly how this pack sets the options you are most likely to touch.[9][10]
Every server option that lists a mod default in the pack's config is set to that default. The sources show no changed values for those options.[9]
Server options (sfm-server.toml)
- disableProgramExecution is false in this pack. It is an emergency switch that stops factory managers from compiling and running code, so with false your programs run normally.[9]
- timerTriggerMinimumIntervalInTicks is 20, which is also the mod default.[9]
- timerTriggerMinimumIntervalInTicksWhenOnlyForgeEnergyIOStatementsPresent is 1, which is also the mod default.[9]
- maxIfStatementsInTriggerBeforeSimulationIsntAllowed is 10, the mod default. The number of scenarios to check is 2^n, where n is the number of if statements in a trigger.[9]
- maxDiskProblems is 10, the mod default. It is the maximum number of problems annotated on a disk item before the list is truncated.[9]
- levelsToShards is set to "JustOne", so an Enchanted Book always produces 1 experience shard regardless of its enchantments. The other allowed values are EachOne (1 shard per enchantment), SumLevels (shards equal to the sum of the enchantment levels) and SumLevelsScaledExponentially (the sum of 2 to the power of each enchantment's level).[9]
- disallowedResourceTypesForTransfer is an empty list, so the pack blocks no resource types from being moved by SFM.[9]
- logResourceLossToConsole is true, so resource loss is logged to the console.[9]
Client options (sfm-client.toml)
- showLabelGunReminderOverlay is true, so the label gun reminder overlay is shown.[10]
- showNetworkToolReminderOverlay is true, so the network tool reminder overlay is shown.[10]
What changed in Super Factory Manager between versions?
5 parts
FTB StoneBlock 4 1.22.0 ships Super Factory Manager 4.34.0 for Minecraft 1.21.1, and the mod has been in the pack since 1.0.0 or earlier. The notes below come from the mod's own changelogs for the versions I have on hand, so some version numbers in between are missing. I have no pack changelog entries for this mod.[11]
4.34.0 (the version in this pack)
- Fancy cables can now be waterlogged.[12]
- Falling anvil items no longer spawn in a corner of the block.[12]
- The falling anvil experience shard JEI catalyst display now uses the configured tag instead of a hardcoded obsidian.[12]
- There is a new configurable keymapping for opening the label gun GUI, and the label gun clear modifier tooltip was fixed.[12]
- Label gun text and the label gun and network tool highlights no longer render slightly offset at large world coordinates.[12]
- Fixed program cache invalidation for the /sfm config edit server command.[12]
4.32.0
- Accepting an intellisense suggestion now has its own keymapping instead of a hardcoded backslash.[13]
- The intellisense popup is no longer transparent on Minecraft 1.20 and later.[13]
- The "rebuild cable network" button in the manager no longer errors because of a bad i18n parameter.[13]
- JEI integration item lore is now written properly, and logging for SFM event listener registration was reduced.[13]
4.31.0
This release fixed a crash when placing a cable that touches the same network on multiple sides.[14]
4.28.0
- Fancy cables no longer visually connect to blocks they should not.[15]
- The LabelNotConnectedProgramLinter now works properly. Before, it wrongly detected every block as having redstone capability.[15]
4.26.0
- New textures were added, along with an optional "Classic" resource pack that restores the old ones.[16]
- The falling anvil handler now supports block tags: sfm:anvil_disenchanting and sfm:anvil_printing_press_forming.[16]
- Added AE2 energy acceptor compatibility so that fe:: works.[16]
- The AE2 inscriber example now uses retain, since inscribers have a max stack size greater than 1 in 1.21.1.[16]
- The mod updated to NeoForge 21.1.206 for Minecraft 1.21.1, and zh_cn localizations were improved again.[16]
