What is AttributeFix?
2 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 2.12 guide
AttributeFix is a behind-the-scenes fix mod. Minecraft uses an attribute system for important calculations such as armor values, attack damage and the maximum health of a mob, and that system also puts caps on how high any of those values can go.[1]
You usually won't notice those caps, but plenty of mods run into them without realizing it. AttributeFix raises the caps significantly so those mods can work the way their authors intended. That's why its tagline is that it fixes many mods![1]
Attributes it uncaps
- Max Health[1]
- Follow Range[1]
- Knockback Resistance[1]
- Movement Speed[1]
- Attack Damage[1]
- Attack Speed[1]
- Armor[1]
- Armor Toughness[1]
- Luck[1]
Who it's for
This one is really for everyone playing the pack, because it helps other mods behave correctly. If you're stacking armor, boosting your health or building a big damage setup with gear from other mods, AttributeFix is what keeps those high values from being quietly cut off by vanilla's limits.[1]
This pack ships AttributeFix version 21.1.2 for NeoForge 1.21.1, and it has been part of the pack since its early releases.[2]
Unverified The sources don't show whether AttributeFix adds any items, recipes or quests, and they don't give the exact cap values the pack uses, so those details aren't covered here.
How do you get started with AttributeFix?
1 part
Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide
Good news: there's nothing you need to craft to get started with AttributeFix. It's a fixer mod that works in the background. It doesn't add a first item to build or a progression step to follow.[1]
Minecraft handles important calculations through an attribute system, covering everything from armor values to attack damage to a mob's maximum health. That system also has caps that limit how high any value can go. Many mods are unknowingly affected by those caps, and AttributeFix significantly raises them so those mods can work as they were intended.[1]
Attributes it affects
- Max Health[1]
- Follow Range[1]
- Knockback Resistance[1]
- Movement Speed[1]
- Attack Damage[1]
- Attack Speed[1]
- Armor[1]
- Armor Toughness[1]
- Luck[1]
In practice, this means gear, effects and mobs from other mods in the pack that push these stats high aren't held back by the vanilla limits.[1]
Unverified I couldn't confirm any in-pack recipes, quests, items or config values for AttributeFix, so there are no recipe blocks or setup steps in this section. The exact new cap values used in this pack are also unverified.
How does AttributeFix work?
3 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 2.11 guide
If you came here looking for machines, multiblocks or pipes, AttributeFix doesn't have any. It's a behind-the-scenes fix mod with no items or blocks for you to build. What it does is quietly remove limits in one of Minecraft's core systems so that lots of other mods can work properly.[1]
The attribute system
Minecraft uses an attribute system to handle important calculations. It covers everything from armor values, to attack damage, to the maximum health of a mob. Whenever gear, effects or mods change a stat like that, it goes through this system.[1]
The problem: attribute caps
The attribute system also comes with caps that limit how high any value can go. You usually won't notice them, but many mods are affected by them without knowing it. For example, a mod might try to push a stat past the cap and end up weaker than its designer intended.[1]
What AttributeFix changes
AttributeFix raises these caps a lot, so the mods that change attributes behave the way their authors meant them to. You don't need to do anything to use it. It just works in the background.[1]
These are the attributes the mod's project page lists as affected:[1]
- Max Health[1]
- Follow Range[1]
- Knockback Resistance[1]
- Movement Speed[1]
- Attack Damage[1]
- Attack Speed[1]
- Armor[1]
- Armor Toughness[1]
- Luck[1]
Unverified The exact new cap values and whether they can be adjusted in this pack could not be confirmed. No config files for this mod are included in the pack, and the available source does not list specific numbers.
Which AttributeFix config options matter?
2 parts
AttributeFix is configured with small JSON files, one per attribute. Each file has the same options: a lowest value (min), a highest value (max), and a modify_range switch. The switch's own description says it determines whether the range for that attribute should be modified or not. The files live in per-mod folders under config/attributefix, covering Additional Entity Attributes, Apothic Attributes, Apothic Enchanting and Ars Nouveau.[3][4][5][6]
Values this pack changed
The pack changed some Ars Nouveau files, all named sauce.perk.something. In each one the pack sets the highest value to 10,000 and the lowest to -10,000. The mod default recorded in the same files is 1,000 for the highest value and -1,000 for the lowest.[7][8][9][10][11]
- Abjuration power: max.value is 10,000 and min.value is -10,000.[7]
- Abjuration resistance: max.value is 10,000 and min.value is -10,000.[8]
- Air power: max.value is 10,000 and min.value is -10,000.[9]
- Air resistance: max.value is 10,000 and min.value is -10,000.[10]
- Earth power: max.value is 10,000 and min.value is -10,000.[11]
Everything else matches the default
In the other files for this pack, such as height, bonus loot rolls, armor pierce, crit damage, max eterna, the drygmy perk and the max mana perk, the min and max values match the mod defaults, and modify_range is false. So there is nothing to tweak unless you want to change a cap yourself.[3][4][5][6][12][13][14]
A few caps you might care about, all at their defaults:[5][13][14][15][16][17]
- Item pickup range: min.value is -64 and max.value is 64.[15]
- Crit damage: min.value is 1 and max.value is 100.[13]
- Cooldown reduction: min.value is -10 and max.value is 0.95.[16]
- Max Eterna: max.value is 100.[5]
- Ars Nouveau max mana perk: max.value is 10,000, and the mana regen perk's max.value is 2,000.[14][17]
What changed in AttributeFix between versions?
There isn't much to tell here, and that's a good thing. AttributeFix is a small utility mod and the sources only show a single version in this pack.[18][19]
FTB StoneBlock 4 1.21.0 ships with AttributeFix 21.1.3. The mod has been in the pack since FTB StoneBlock 4 1.0.0 or earlier, so it's been there from the start or close to it.[19]
The only change in the 21.1.3 changelog is an update to the build dependencies. That's a behind-the-scenes change, so nothing about how the mod plays is listed as different.[18]
Unverified No pack changelog entries for AttributeFix were available, so changes to the mod between individual StoneBlock 4 releases are unverified.
