What is Apotheosis?
2 parts
Same as in the FTB StoneBlock 4 1.21.0 guide
Apotheosis is the RPG-style loot and progression mod in the pack, and the pack ships version 8.8.0. It lets you strengthen any item you find, from vanilla or from other mods, with Affixes. Affixes work a bit like enchantments but follow very different rules. It also adds Gems, Sockets and World Tiers.[1][2]
The adventure side of the mod gives you procedurally generated loot with powerful bonuses, but it also brings new foes. It's for you if you like gearing up, chasing better rarities and making your own build rather than just crafting the vanilla tool tiers.[1][3]
The big pieces
- Affix Items: each one has a Rarity that decides which affixes it gets and how strong they are. The rarities run from Common up to Mythic.[1][4]
- Gems and Sockets: Gems add bonuses when socketed into affix items. A Sigil of Withdrawal removes a socketed gem, and a Sigil of Socketing adds a socket to an item that has none.[1][5]
- World Tiers: there are five, from Haven up to Pinnacle. You pick one in the World Tier screen, which opens with CTRL+T by default. Higher tiers give better loot but make every enemy stronger.[1]
- Salvage and reforge: you break affix items down in the Salvaging Table to get Rarity Materials. You then spend those materials to make new affix items in the Reforging Table.[1][6]
Where it fits in the pack
Most of the Apotheosis quests sit in the gearing up chapter. It starts with Gem Dust in quest a quest in "?". That one unlocks the Gem Case, the Simple Reforging Table, the Salvaging Table and several sigils, such as Sigil of Socketing and Sigil of Withdrawal.[7]
From there the chain goes on to the Reforging Table with Sigil of Rebirth in quest a quest in "?". The end of the line is the Augmenting Table with Sigil of Enhancement in quest a quest in "?".[7]
The Augmenting Table is an end-game station for upgrading or rerolling single affixes. You make it by focusing a Nether Star through two Godforged Pearls, using an Enchanting Table as the base. The God-Fused Pearl has its own quest, a quest in "?".[7][8]
The mod also turns up outside that chapter. The Salvaging Table appears early, in a Getting Started quest (a quest in "?") and again in a resource generation quest (a quest in "?"). The Spawner Chain is in the resource generation quest a quest in "?". A Potion Charm is a task in a creative chapter quest, a quest in "?".[9][10][11]
Unverified The sources don't show whether the pack changes any Apotheosis costs, rarity limits or recipes. Modpacks are allowed to change reforging costs or block reforging at certain rarities, so check the recipes and costs in-game. This site does hold FTB StoneBlock 4's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.
How do you get started with Apotheosis?
7 parts
Apotheosis is all about affix items and gems. You find them as loot, break them down into materials, and spend those materials to make your own upgraded gear. The first steps in this pack are about getting that loop running, and the order below follows the pack's quest book.[1][12]
Get your first Gem Dust
Gems turn up in chest loot and can rarely drop from mobs, so grab a couple as you explore. Your first two dust come from having an anvil crush two gems. After that, the Salvaging Table does the job for you. Gem Dust is the first task in the gearing-up chapter, a quest in "?", and most of the quests after it hang off that one.[1][12][13][14]
Build the Salvaging Table
The Salvaging Table breaks affix items down into Rarity Materials and turns gems into Gem Dust. It shows up early in the quest book, in a quest in "?" and a quest in "?". The gearing-up chapter also asks you to get a rarity material from it in a quest in "?".[12][14][15][16][17]

Craft Gem-Fused Slate
Gem-Fused Slate is an ingredient in the sigils and smithing templates you'll make next, so craft a few.[18]
Gem Cutting Table
The Gem Cutting Table upgrades gems. An upgrade usually costs Gem Dust, Rarity Materials and a second gem of the same purity, and the exact cost shows up in JEI. In the quest book it's a quest in "?".[12][19]

Reforging
The Simple Reforging Table lets you reforge any valid item up to Rare rarity. It uses Rarity Materials, plus Sigil of Rebirth as fuel. The quest book tracks these in a quest in "?" and a quest in "?".[12][20]

For Epic rarity and above, upgrade your Simple Reforging Table into a Reforging Table. The same quest, a quest in "?", asks for this table.[12][20]
Sockets and gems
Sigil of Socketing gives a socket to an item that doesn't have one, and Sigil of Withdrawal removes socketed gems when combined with the item in a smithing table. The item and all its gems are returned. The quests are a quest in "?" and a quest in "?". The chapter also has a quest for Sigil of Unnaming, a quest in "?".[1][12][13]

The pack changed this recipe too.
Later: the Augmenting Table
The Augmenting Table is an end-game station for upgrading or rerolling single affixes, and it runs on Sigil of Enhancement. Both are in a quest in "?", which comes after the salvaging quest. Both recipes need a apotheosis:mythic_material, so save your top-tier materials for them.[8][12][18]
How does Apotheosis work?
7 parts
The stations in this part of Apotheosis are all slot-based: you drop items into labelled slots, pick a result, and the station does the work. Here is what each one does, what fuels it and how it is made in this pack.[8][15][19][20][21]
Salvaging Table
The Salvaging Table breaks Affix Items down into Rarity Materials. Those materials are what you spend on reforging and on upgrading gems.[1][15][19][21]
Crafting Shaped

Recipe id: apotheosis:salvaging_table
The pack changed this recipe from the mod's default.
The in-game guide gives each rarity its own material:[15]
- Common items give apotheosis:common_material.[15][18]
- Uncommon items give apotheosis:uncommon_material.[15][18]
- Rare items give apotheosis:rare_material.[15][18]
- Epic items give apotheosis:epic_material.[15][18]
- Mythic items give apotheosis:mythic_material according to the guide.[15][18]
The same table turns gems into Gem Dust. Your first dust has to come from an anvil: drop an Apothic Gem into the world and let an anvil block fall on it. After that, use the Salvaging Table.[14][18][21]
Reforging
Reforging gives an item brand-new affixes. It works on any valid item, not only items that already have affixes, and you can reforge the same item more than once.[20]
The station has three input slots. The center slot holds the item. The top-left slot holds Rarity Materials for the rarity you want to reforge with. The bottom-right slot holds Sigil of Rebirth, the fuel item for this process.[18][20][21]
It works like an Enchanting Table: you get three choices, and none is inherently stronger than the others. Each rarity has a base cost in experience, sigils and materials. The extra choice slots charge double and triple that base cost. Click the choice you want to reforge.[20]
The Simple Reforging Table handles items up to Rare. For Epic and above you need to upgrade it into the Reforging Table. The guide also notes that modpacks can change the costs or block reforging at certain rarities.[20]

Augmenting Table
The Augmenting Table is an end-game station. It upgrades or rerolls a single affix and leaves the rest of the item alone. The upper slot holds the affix item, and the guide suggests sticking to Mythic items, or Epic ones at a push. The lower slot holds Sigil of Enhancement, its fuel. Pick the affix you want from the drop-down menu.[8][21]
- Upgrading costs two Sigils of Enhancement and raises the affix's internal strength by 25%. How big a boost that is depends on the affix.[8]
- Rerolling costs one Sigil of Enhancement and swaps the selected affix for another of the same type. The alternatives are shown on the left.[8]

Gems, sockets and sigils
Every gem has a Purity from Cracked to Perfect. Purity alone sets its strength, and a Perfect Gem can't be upgraded any further. To socket a gem, combine the two in a Smithing Table with the item on the left and the gem on the right. Some gems are Unique, so only one copy fits in an item.[13][21]
A few sigils handle the rest of the socket workflow, all used in a Smithing Table:[13][21]
- Sigil of Socketing adds one socket to an item.[18][21]
- Sigil of Withdrawal removes all socketed gems. The item and the gems are returned. The pack changed its recipe from the mod's default.[13][18][21]
- Sigil of Unnaming removes the affixed name from an item.[18][21]

Gem Cutting Table and Gem Case
The Gem Cutting Table upgrades gems. An upgrade usually costs Gem Dust, Rarity Materials and a second gem of the same purity. Higher purities cost more dust and higher-tier materials. The exact cost for any gem is shown in JEI.[19][21]

The Gem Case is bulk storage for gems. It holds up to thirty two thousand gems of each type and purity, and can be upgraded to hold more. It has a name filter and an item filter, so you can search by gem name or by which items a gem fits. Its six auxiliary slots hold upgrade materials, so with enough materials and gems you can upgrade gems right in the case. The guide says this effectively obsoletes the Gem Cutting Table.[22]

Keep Nbt Infusion (apothic_enchanting)
Recipe id: apotheosis:infusion/ender_gem_case
Infusion Enchanting
Infusion Enchanting is crafting done through the Enchanting Table. Each infusion recipe takes a single item and has three stat requirements. Put the item in and, if your stats fit, the third slot lights up. Click it to perform the infusion. Infusions only use the third slot and let you over-spend experience.[23]
World Tiers in this pack
World Tiers change which rarities and gem purities drop, with higher tiers making better ones more common. In this pack, World Tiers are activated automatically and can't be switched by hand. You can still open the select screen to read each tier's details.[21][24]
How do you progress through Apotheosis?
6 parts
Apotheosis progression runs on three tracks at once: the world tiers that make the world harder and more rewarding, the crafting stations and sigils the pack's quests walk you through, and your Enchanting Table level. Here is how they fit together.[12][24][25]
World tiers
A world tier is a per-player strength modifier. There are five: Haven, Frontier, Ascent, Summit and Pinnacle. Each one raises the difficulty and the rewards, and higher rarities become more common as you climb.[24]
- Haven is enabled by default, but you won't see it until you've picked up your first Affix Item.[26]
- Frontier needs an Affix Item in every armor slot and an Affixed Weapon in either hand.[26]
- Ascent needs a full set of Uncommon Affix Items, including a weapon, and you must slay an Apothic Invader.[26]
- Summit needs a full set of Rare Affix Items and a slain Wither.[26]
- Pinnacle needs a full set of Epic items and a slain Ender Dragon.[26]
Unlocking a tier doesn't turn it on. Open the World Tier Select screen (CTRL+T by default), pick the tier and press Activate. You can switch tiers whenever you like.[27]
The quest path
The Apotheosis quests live mostly in the gearing_up chapter. Everything there hangs off one quest: a quest in "?", which asks for Gem Dust. Salvaging gems is one way to get it, and Gem-Fused Slate is crafted from it.[12][18]
Once Gem Dust is done, several quests open up in parallel: a quest in "?" for the Gem Cutting Table, a quest in "?" for the Simple Reforging Table, and three sigil quests: a quest in "?" for the Sigil of Unnaming, a quest in "?" for the Sigil of Withdrawal and a quest in "?" for the Sigil of Socketing.[12]
The pack changed the Sigil of Withdrawal recipe from the mod's version, so don't trust older guides for it.[18]
Salvaging and materials
a quest in "?" asks for the Salvaging Table plus any one of the four lower-rarity salvage materials. The Salvaging Table also shows up in a getting-started quest and in a resource-generation quest, so you'll likely meet it early. The pack changed its recipe from the mod default.[12][16][17][18]

Reforging

At the table, upgrading an affix costs two Sigils of Enhancement and raises its internal strength by 25%. Rerolling costs one sigil and swaps the affix for another of the same type. Aim it at items of at least Mythic rarity, though Epic ones can be worth it too.[8]
Enchanting Table levels
Your Enchanting Table level is the other long-term climb. Level 30 takes fifteen bookshelves. Level 45 adds Hellshelves, or Seashelves if you'd rather skip the Nether. Level 60 means infusing and upgrading your shelves.[25][28]
Level 70 needs a Level 60 table and Deepshelves, and Level 75 needs Deep Dark materials. Slaying the Warden gets you to 80. Level 90 needs Infused Dragon's Breath, and Level 100, the maximum, needs a single Draconic Endshelf made with a Dragon Head.[29][30]
How does Apotheosis work with other mods?
5 parts
Apotheosis doesn't sit on its own in this pack. Its materials, gem dust and smithing templates show up in recipes from other mods, and most of those recipes were changed or added by the pack. So you'll want to hang on to your Apotheosis drops.[18]
Create: Enchantment Industry
The pack changed the recipes for two machines from this addon so they depend on Apotheosis items. The Gem Cutter needs Gem Dust, and the Affix Augmentor needs one of the rarer Apotheosis materials.[18]

The pack also changed the Create mixing recipes that dissolve Apotheosis materials into liquid essences. These are the ones you'll use:[18]
- apotheosis:common_material dissolves into Apotheotic Essence.[18]
- apotheosis:uncommon_material dissolves into Apotheotic Essence.[18]

- apotheosis:mythic_material dissolves into Apotheotic Essence.[18]
- Gem Dust dissolves into Crystal Essence.[18]
Gateways
Three Gate Pearl recipes live under the Apotheosis namespace, and the pack changed all of them. Each one is built from Apotheosis materials, so your gem dust and rarity materials also feed into gateway content. The pinnacle version also uses items from Apothic Enchanting.[18]

Smithing templates in pack progression
The pack added several recipes that use the Apotheosis upgrade smithing templates (Smithing Template, Smithing Template and Smithing Template) for progression in other mods.[18]
- The Player Upgrade is a shapeless crafting recipe that uses the iron upgrade template.[18]
- Pocket Storage units go up through smithing, with the iron, gold and diamond templates handling the step from tier 1 to 2, 2 to 3 and 3 to 4. The results are Pocket Storage Unit Tier: 2, Pocket Storage Unit Tier: 3 and Pocket Storage Unit Tier: 4.[18]
- The Reinforced Brush is a smithing upgrade of a vanilla brush that uses the iron upgrade template.[18]
Draconic Evolution and the World Engine
The pack added a Custom Machinery recipe for the Sigil of Supremacy that combines Apotheosis items with an Awakened Draconium Ingot. It takes apotheosis:mythic_material and Sigil of Rebirth. The recipe data doesn't show an output item, so check the recipe viewer in-game for what it produces.[18]

Quests that mix Apotheosis with other mods
Most of the Apotheosis quests only ask for Apotheosis items, but a few pair them with other content. Quest a quest in "?" in the getting started chapter asks for the Salvaging Table together with a vanilla decorated pot. Quest a quest in "?" in the resource generation chapter pairs the Salvaging Table with one of several basic resources, including cobblestone, gravel and soul sand. Quest a quest in "?" in the creative chapter bundles the Chance Cubes items with a Potion Charm.[16][17][31]
Which FTB StoneBlock 4 quests use Apotheosis?
3 parts
Apotheosis items show up in four quest chapters: getting_started, resource_generation, gearing_up and creative. Most of the action is in gearing_up, where the mod's crafting stations and sigils are laid out as a quest tree.[12][16][17][31]
Early chapters: the Salvaging Table
In getting_started, quest a quest in "?" has two item tasks: a Decorated Pot and a Salvaging Table. It unlocks after an earlier quest in that chapter.[16]
The Salvaging Table comes up again in resource_generation. Quest a quest in "?" asks for the Salvaging Table plus one of Cobblestone, Gravel, Soul Sand or Crushed Kivi. It also follows an earlier quest in its chapter.[17]
The gearing_up chapter
This is the main Apotheosis path. Everything branches from a single starting quest, so here is the order to follow.[12]
- Quest a quest in "?" asks for Gem Dust. It unlocks after two earlier quests, and every other Apotheosis quest in this chapter hangs off it.[12]
- Five quests then open up directly after it. a quest in "?" wants the Gem Cutting Table. a quest in "?" wants the Simple Reforging Table. a quest in "?" wants the Sigil of Unnaming. a quest in "?" wants the Sigil of Withdrawal. a quest in "?" wants the Sigil of Socketing.[12]
- Quest a quest in "?" also follows the Gem Dust quest. It asks for the Salvaging Table and one of the four rarity materials: apotheosis:common_material, apotheosis:uncommon_material, apotheosis:rare_material or apotheosis:epic_material.[12]
- Quest a quest in "?" unlocks after the Simple Reforging Table quest. It asks for the Reforging Table and the Sigil of Rebirth.[12]
- Quest a quest in "?" unlocks after the Salvaging Table quest. It asks for the Augmenting Table and the Sigil of Enhancement.[12]
The creative chapter
Quest a quest in "?" mostly covers Chance Cubes items: Chance Cube, Compact Giant Chance Cube and Chance Icosahedron. Its last task is the Apotheosis Potion Charm. It unlocks after an earlier quest in that chapter.[31]
Which Apotheosis config options matter?
4 parts
Same as in the FTB StoneBlock 4 1.21.0 guide
The only Apotheosis config I can show you in full detail here is the name generation file, config/apotheosis/name_generation.cfg. It controls how Apotheosis names gear and bosses. It's cosmetic rather than gameplay-changing, but it's where this pack made the most edits.[32]
Material prefixes: mostly emptied
Each armor or tool material group has a list of material-based prefix names, and the mod allows that list to be empty. The pack has set a large number of these lists to empty, and the file marks every one of them as changed from the mod default. Examples are armors.mekanism_jetpack, armors.irons_spellbooks_pyromancer_helmet and armors.twilightforest_knightmetal_helmet.[32]
The same goes for tool groups such as tools.DIAMOND and tools.GOLD, which also cover modded weapons that share those materials, and for tools.DARK_MATTER.[32]
Some vanilla armor groups still have prefix names. For example, armors.minecraft_diamond_helmet lists Diamond, Zircon, Gemstone, Jewel and Crystal, and armors.minecraft_iron_helmet lists Iron, Steel, Ferrous, Rusty and Wrought Iron. The file flags these as changed too, but the names it shows match the mod default's list, so don't expect different words there.[32]
Item root names
The item root name lists, such as items.swords, items.axes and items.shields, are used when generating item names and may not be empty. The file marks them as changed, but the names listed look the same as the default. For instance, swords can come out as Sword, Cutter, Claymore, Rapier or Calibur, and shields as Shield, Buckler, Bulwark or Aegis.[32]
Boss names
Four options feed the boss name generator: entity.Names (full names), [[config:config/apotheosis/name_generation.cfg#entity.Name Parts]] (pieces spliced into names), entity.Prefixes and entity.Suffixes. A suffix is always preceded by "The". Prefixes include Sir, Lord and Captain, and suffixes include Mighty, Legendary and Cookie Enthusiast.[32]
What I can't confirm
Unverified The other Apotheosis config files in config/apotheosis (apotheosis.cfg, apothic_attributes.cfg, apothic_enchanting.cfg and enchantments.cfg) were not available for this section, so their pack values are unconfirmed. Anything about the adventure module, attributes, enchanting or individual enchantments would be set in those files. The name generation file also has 91 more options that were not shown.
