What is AdvancedAE?
2 parts
AdvancedAE is an AE2 addon about convenience and a better experience when you handle your ME System. It also expands what end-game systems can do. This pack ships version 1.6.12 for Minecraft 1.21.1.[1][2][3]
It's for you if you already have an ME network running and want less piping, much bigger crafting jobs, or gear that plugs straight into your system.[1][3]
What it adds
- Advanced Pattern Providers: with an Advanced Pattern Encoder you pick which face each input goes to. That means one block and no extra pipes for machines that need specific sides. An extended version holds up to 36 patterns.[1][4][5]
- The Quantum Computer: a special crafting unit that runs an unlimited number of crafting tasks as long as it has enough storage, and all those tasks share the co-processors. The Quantum Computer Core works alone with 256M storage and 8 co-processors. The multiblock scales up to 5x5x5 and uses a single channel.[1][6]
- The Quantum Data Entangler and the Quantum Computer Multi-Threader multiply the multiblock's storage and co-processors by 4, respectively.[1][7]
- The Quantum Crafter: a powerful auto crafter that accesses the ME System's inventory directly. It can do recursive crafting and crafts with non-consumed ingredients.[1]
- The Quantum Armor Set: armor that connects to your ME System. It has defenses comparable to Netherite by default. Upgrade cards add things like flight, night vision, a magnet and auto feeding from ME Storage.[1][8]
- The Reaction Chamber: a machine that uses a lot of power for efficient material processing. It's used to make items you need to progress in AdvancedAE.[1]
- Smaller extras: a Stock Export Bus, an ME Throughput Monitor, and Import Export and Advanced IO buses.[1][9][10]
- Upgrade items let you turn existing regular or Extended Pattern Providers into advanced ones without moving your patterns. A capacity upgrade takes a regular Pattern Provider straight to an Advanced Pattern Provider with 36 pattern slots.[11]
Where it fits in this pack
In the pack's logistics storage quests, you start with the Reaction Chamber (a quest in "Storage"). The Quantum Crafting Unit quest ("Quantum Autocrafting" quest) then leads to the Quantum Computer Core ("The Quantum Computer Core" quest) and the Quantum Crafter ("Quantum Crafter" quest). After the core comes Quantum Computer Structural Glass ("The Quantum Computer Structure" quest), which unlocks the quests for the entangler ("Quantum Data Entangler" quest), accelerator ("Quantum Acceleration" quest), 128M storage ("Quantum Storage" quest) and multi-threader ("Multi-Threading" quest). A further quest ("Maximum Size Quantum Computer" quest) also follows the structure quest and asks for the structural glass, accelerator, 256M Quantum Computer Storage, multi-threader, core and entangler.[7]
The Quantum Armor shows up in the gearing up quests, where any one of Quantum Helmet, Quantum Chestplate, Quantum Leggings or Quantum Boots completes "Quantum Armor" quest. The Shattered Singularity is one of the tasks in the creative chapter quest "God of the World" quest.[12][13]
How do you get started with AdvancedAE?
6 parts
AdvancedAE is an AE2 addon built around two big ideas: pattern providers that can push items to specific sides of a machine, and a multiblock Quantum Computer that can run an unlimited number of crafts as long as it has crafting storage. In this pack the quests for the Quantum Computer sit in the logistics storage chapter, so the steps below follow that order.[3][7]
Step 1: Get a Reaction Chamber
The Reaction Chamber is where you make Shattered Singularity, which is produced by a chemical reaction in the chamber. You'll want it early because it shows up in the recipes for the Quantum Core, Quantum Crafter, Quantum Storage blocks, Quantum Accelerator and more. The pack has a quest for the chamber: a quest in "Storage".[7][14][15][16]

This is a Reaction Chamber recipe, not a crafting table one.
Step 2: Craft the Quantum Crafting Unit
Next comes the Quantum Crafting Unit. The Quantum Core and Quantum Crafter quests both come after its quest ("Quantum Autocrafting" quest). This recipe was changed by the pack, so don't rely on what you remember from other modpacks.[7][15]
Step 3: Build a Quantum Core
The Quantum Computer Core is the heart of the Quantum Computer. By itself it gives you 256M of crafting storage and 8 co-processor threads, and it's the only block that can form a quantum computer on its own. When you use it standalone, power has to come in through the Up or Down sides, where the connectors are. The quest is "The Quantum Computer Core" quest.[6][7]

This recipe uses other Quantum parts, so craft those first.
Step 4: Add a Quantum Crafter
The Quantum Crafter is a separate auto-crafter that works straight from your ME inventory. Place it on your network, connect it with a cable, and it uses a single channel. Encode the recipes you want it to repeat into crafting patterns and insert them. You can also set how much of each ingredient to keep in the system and a cap on the end product. Its quest is "Quantum Crafter" quest.[7][17]
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: advanced_ae:quantumcrafter
Step 5: Grow the multiblock
Once the core works, the quests branch from the Quantum Structure ("The Quantum Computer Structure" quest). The Quantum Computer Structural Glass is used on the outside layer of the multiblock. After it, the pack points you to the Quantum Computer Accelerator, 128M Quantum Computer Storage, Quantum Data Entangler and Quantum Computer Multi-Threader.[7][16]

- Each Quantum Accelerator adds 8 co-processors, and all running crafts share them.[6]
- The Quantum Storage blocks come in 128M and 256M sizes.[6]
- The Data Entangler multiplies storage by 4 and the Multi-Threader multiplies co-processors by 4. You can place only one of each per multiblock.[6]
Later: pattern providers
When you're ready to automate machines that need specific input sides, craft the Advanced Pattern Encoder and the Advanced Extended Pattern Provider. The provider recipe was changed by the pack.[4][5][15]

How does AdvancedAE work?
7 parts
AdvancedAE bolts a handful of new machines and ME tools onto your AE2 network. Most of it comes down to a few systems: directional pattern providers, smarter buses, the quantum computer multiblock, the Quantum Crafter and the power-hungry Reaction Chamber. Here is how each one behaves in this pack.[1][3]
Directional pattern providers
The Advanced Extended Pattern Provider can push each ingredient of a pattern into a specific face of the target machine. That means machines that want certain inputs on certain sides can be automated with one block and no pipes.[1][5]
You set the faces with the Advanced Pattern Encoder. Right-click it to open its GUI and put an encoded Processing Pattern in the left slot. Every raw ingredient is listed with a row of buttons, one per block face. Leaving a row on the "A" button sends that ingredient to whatever face touches the provider. Picking a face forces insertion there.[4][16]

This is the in-pack recipe for the encoder.
The advanced provider holds up to 36 patterns. You don't have to rebuild your setup to get one. The Advanced Pattern Provider Upgrade converts a regular or ExtendedAE provider and keeps its existing slot count. The Capacity Upgrade turns a regular provider straight into an advanced one with 36 slots.[5][11][16]
The pack changed the crafting recipe for the advanced provider, so don't rely on what you remember from the mod's defaults.[15]

Buses
The ME Import Export Bus mixes an import bus and an export bus. The filter sets which stacks get exported, and anything not on the filter is a valid stack to import.[10][15]

Recipe id: advanced_ae:import_export_bus
This is the in-pack recipe for the Import Export Bus.
The ME Stock Export Bus exports an exact amount of the filtered stacks. It tracks what's already in the target inventory and doesn't insert above that number. To set the amount, drag an item into the filter slot and middle click. It won't pull extra items or fluids back out if the inventory goes over the amount. It can also take a crafting card so it can request the items it needs.[1][15][16][18]
The ME Advanced IO Bus combines both parents and inherits what they do. Its base speed is 8 times higher, though it takes a while to ramp up. It exports up to a fixed amount per its filter, and it imports anything that isn't filtered for export. Import and export operations are counted separately, so it can't get stuck on one of them.[9][15]
It also has a regulate toggle on the left of the UI. With regulate on, the bus tries to import anything that exceeds the filter amounts first, and any leftover operations import the unfiltered items. With it off, exported items are kept even if they're over the filters.[9][16]

The quantum computer
The quantum computer is a special crafting computer. It can run an unlimited number of crafting requests as long as it has crafting storage left, and all of those jobs share every co-processor. The multiblock uses a single channel.[1][3][6]
The Quantum Core has 256M of crafting storage and 8 co-processor threads by itself. It's the only block that can form a quantum computer alone. In that standalone mode, power has to come in through its Up or Down sides, where the connectors are.[6][16]
- Quantum Storage blocks add crafting storage to the core and come in 128M and 256M versions.[6]
- The Quantum Computer Accelerator adds co-processors. Each block gives 8 threads in this pack, set by [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputerAcceleratorThreads]].[6][16][19]
- The Quantum Data Entangler multiplies the storage of every storage block in the multiblock by 4. You can have 1 per multiblock, controlled by [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputermaxDataEntanglers]] and [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputerDataEntanglerMultiplication]].[6][16][19]
- The Quantum Multi-Threader multiplies the accelerators' co-processing power by 4. You can have 1 per multiblock, controlled by [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputerMaxMultiThreaders]] and [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputerMultiThreaderMultiplication]].[6][16][19]
- Quantum Structure blocks are the framing. The whole outside layer of the multiblock must be made of them.[6][16]
The pack keeps the maximum multiblock size at 7x7x7 external dimensions, set by [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputerMaxSize]]. No empty spaces are allowed inside it. You can check your instance's limits on the item tooltips.[6][16][19]
The pack changed the recipes for the Quantum Crafting Unit and the accelerator, so use these rather than the mod's defaults. The Shattered Singularity needed for the accelerator is produced in the Reaction Chamber.[15][16]
Changed by the pack, so it differs from the mod's own recipe.

Quantum Crafter
The Quantum Crafter is an auto-crafter that works straight from the ME system's inventory. It needs one channel and a cable connection. It can also run fluid substitution crafts and recursive crafts, where an input is also an output.[17]
Encode the recipes you want run indefinitely into crafting patterns and insert them into the crafter. Each pattern has a square button to enable or disable it and a cog button that opens its configuration. There you can set how much of each ingredient to keep in the ME system and a maximum amount of the end product. Type the number, which can be a math expression, and press enter. An output limit of 0 removes the limit, so crafting continues until the inputs run out.[16][17]
By default, output goes from the output slots straight into the ME system. Left-click the cell button on the left toolbar to push it into adjacent inventories instead. A second button then lets you pick which sides count for auto-export.[16][17]
The crafter takes two kinds of upgrade cards. One greatly accelerates crafting, up to 64 crafts of each pattern per tick. The other gives redstone control.[17]
Reaction Chamber
The Reaction Chamber speeds up reactions using a catalyst fluid and a lot of power. Acceleration Cards raise the power it needs per tick. If it draws power through the ME system and can't get a full tick's worth, you may see flickering as the system's power toggles on and off. Energy buffers on the AE network fix that. Cutting back on acceleration cards also helps if you're short on generation. If power is too low, progress slows and the screen shows a warning.[14][16]
- Full block pattern provider: it connects the chamber directly to the grid so power can be drawn when needed.[14]
- External power: any source that can push energy will fill its buffers.[14]
- Induction Cards (needs Applied Flux): put them in cable-part or directional pattern providers to export power from Energy Cells into the chamber. They ramp up slowly, so crafting won't hit full speed right away.[14]
- The chamber can also pull energy directly from Applied Flux energy cells sitting in the drives.[14]
Throughput Monitor
The ME Throughput Monitor works like a normal monitor but adds a meter for one item or fluid, showing how its quantity changes. It doesn't need a channel.[20]
- Right-click with an item, or double-right-click with a fluid container, to set what it tracks.[20]
- Right-click with an empty hand to clear it. Shift-right-click with an empty hand to lock it.[20]
- Right-click it with the Throughput Monitor Configurator to cycle between items per tick, per second and per minute. Readings take a while to stabilise after you change modes.[20]
The pack leaves Miscellaneous.throughputMonitorCacheSize at the mod default of 80. It affects only the longer per-minute and per-10-minute modes. Higher values are more precise but react more slowly.[19]
Quantum armor and upgrade cards
The quantum armor is an energy-powered suit that links to your ME system. Link each piece through an access point, and stay in range for the grid-based perks to work. Equip the pieces and press N (the default hotkey) to open the configuration menu, where you install cards, toggle them and adjust their settings. The Quantum Upgrade Base Card is the ingredient for all the upgrade cards.[8][16]
Here are some of the pack's values, all still at the mod defaults: Evasion Card gives a 30% evasion chance, HP Buffer Card adds 20 HP, and Magnet Card has a maximum range of 12. The suit's energy shield absorbs up to 30% of incoming damage, limited by its stored energy. See [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum armor.quantumArmorEvasionChance]], [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum armor.quantumArmorHpBuffer]], [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum armor.quantumArmorMagnetRange]] and [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum armor.quantumArmorPercentageDamageAbsorption]].[15][16][19]

How do you progress through AdvancedAE?
6 parts
In this pack, the AdvancedAE quests are mostly about one goal: the Quantum Computer. The logistics storage chapter lists the parts one quest at a time, and the quantum armor has its own quest in the gearing up chapter.[6][7][12]
Stage 1: Reaction Chamber and Shattered Singularity
a quest in "Storage" asks for the Reaction Chamber. It comes after another quest in the same chapter and is not linked to the Quantum Crafting Unit quest below. The Shattered Singularity uses a reaction-type recipe. It appears in the recipes for the Quantum Crafting Unit's follow-up parts: the accelerator, data entangler, multi-threader, core, crafter and both storage blocks. You will be making a lot of them.[7][15]

The Shattered Singularity is also one of the items on the creative chapter quest "God of the World" quest.[13]
Stage 2: Quantum Crafting Unit
"Quantum Autocrafting" quest asks for the Quantum Crafting Unit. The pack changes this recipe, so don't rely on the mod's default. Both the core quest and the crafter quest come after it, and the unit is an ingredient in many of the later multiblock parts.[7][15]
Stage 3: Core and Crafter
Two quests unlock once you have the Quantum Crafting Unit: "The Quantum Computer Core" quest for the Quantum Computer Core and "Quantum Crafter" quest for the Quantum Crafter. The core is the heart of the Quantum Computer. It has 256M of crafting storage and 8 co-processor threads by itself, and it is the only block that can form a quantum computer on its own.[6][7]

How does AdvancedAE work with other mods?
4 parts
AdvancedAE is an AE2 addon, so most of its connections run through AE2. This pack also ties it into ExtendedAE, EnderDrives and the wireless terminal library, plus a few single-item links to other mods. Here is what the recipes and quests show.[1][15]
AE2 and ExtendedAE
The Advanced Pattern Provider line plugs straight into both AE2 and ExtendedAE. The upgrade items work on regular AE2 pattern providers and on ExtendedAE's extended providers, and they keep the slot count the provider already had. The capacity upgrade turns a regular provider directly into an advanced one with 36 pattern slots.[11][15]
The pack changed several of these recipes. That covers the Advanced Extended Pattern Provider (the advanced version of ME Extended Pattern Provider), the Advanced Pattern Provider Upgrade and the Advanced Pattern Provider Capacity Upgrade. The capacity upgrade is made in an ExtendedAE crystal assembler.[15]

The Quantum Computer line leans on ExtendedAE too. The pack changed the recipes for the Quantum Crafting Unit, Quantum Computer Accelerator and Quantum Computer Multi-Threader, and each of those recipes uses ExtendedAE's Concurrent Processor. The Quantum Processor is made in an ExtendedAE crystal assembler, and many other AdvancedAE recipes need it.[15]

EnderDrives
The pack changed the EnderDrives recipes so they depend on AdvancedAE. The 4k, 16k and 256k ender storage components use the Quantum Processor and the Shattered Singularity, while the 1k component uses the Quantum Storage Component instead. The housings and the item and fluid storage cells use the Quantum Alloy Plate and the quantum processor.[15]

Other mods and vanilla
The pack changed the recipe for the Quantum Alloy Plate. It is made in a Reaction Chamber, which is AdvancedAE's own machine. The recipe below is where the Enderium Ingot from another mod and the vanilla Nether Star come in.[1][15]
Reaction (advanced_ae)

The Quantum Armor pieces are crafted from netherite armor, such as Netherite Chestplate, together with an AE2 wireless access point. In play, the armor connects to your AE2 system, and its extra perks only work while you are in range of the connected access point.[8][15]
The Shattered Singularity also appears in the quest "God of the World" quest in the creative chapter. That quest groups it with Create items and Avaritia singularities.[13]
Which FTB StoneBlock 4 quests use AdvancedAE?
2 parts
AdvancedAE shows up in three quest chapters in the pack: the main one is the logistics storage chapter, and there are two single-quest appearances in gearing up and creative. The quests have no titles in the pack files, so they are listed here by their quest ids.[7][12][13]
Logistics storage: building a Quantum Computer
This chapter walks you through the multiblock Quantum Computer, one item per quest. Here is the order the quests unlock in.[7]
- "Quantum Autocrafting" quest asks you to obtain the Quantum Crafting Unit. It unlocks after an earlier quest that is not in the sources I was given.[7]
- "The Quantum Computer Core" quest asks for the Quantum Computer Core, and "Quantum Crafter" quest asks for the Quantum Crafter. Both come right after the Quantum Crafting Unit quest.[7]
- "The Quantum Computer Structure" quest asks for the Quantum Computer Structural Glass. It comes after the Quantum Computer Core quest.[7]
- Four quests then open up from the structural glass quest. "Quantum Data Entangler" quest asks for the Quantum Data Entangler. "Quantum Acceleration" quest asks for the Quantum Computer Accelerator. "Quantum Storage" quest asks for the 128M Quantum Computer Storage. "Multi-Threading" quest asks for the Quantum Computer Multi-Threader.[7]
- "Maximum Size Quantum Computer" quest also unlocks after the structural glass quest. It lists the structural glass, accelerator, 256M Quantum Computer Storage, multi-threader, core and data entangler as its tasks, so it works as a full Quantum Computer checklist.[7]
Separately, a quest in "Storage" asks for the Reaction Chamber. It is not part of the Quantum Computer chain and unlocks after a different quest that is not shown in the sources.[7]
Other chapters
- Gearing up: "Quantum Armor" quest accepts any one piece of the quantum armor, whether that is the Quantum Helmet, Quantum Chestplate, Quantum Leggings or Quantum Boots.[12]
- Creative: "God of the World" quest is a big collection quest. Among its tasks are Create items and several Avaritia singularities, and it also asks for the Shattered Singularity. It unlocks after another quest in that chapter.[13]
Which AdvancedAE config options matter?
3 parts
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide
Good news: this pack doesn't touch AdvancedAE's balance. Every option in the common config is set to the same value as the mod default, so you won't get any surprises compared with the mod's own numbers. Here are the options you're most likely to care about, and what the pack sets them to.[21]
Quantum Computer
These options decide how big and how strong your Quantum Computer multiblock can get. For each option below, the pack's config shows the same value as the mod default.[21]
- [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputerMaxSize]] is 7 in this pack (allowed range 5 to 12). The mod's project page describes the multiblock as scaling up to 5x5x5, but the pack's config file is what applies here.[1][21]
- [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputerAcceleratorThreads]] is 8 threads per Quantum Computer Accelerator (range 4 to 16).[21]
- [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputermaxDataEntanglers]] is 1 and [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputerMaxMultiThreaders]] is 1, so you get one Data Entangler and one Multi Threader per multiblock (both can go up to 2).[21]
- [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputerDataEntanglerMultiplication]] and [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputerMultiThreaderMultiplication]] are both 4 (range 2 to 8). That is the multiplication factor each of those special blocks applies.[21]
- [[config:config/advanced_ae-client.toml#quantum computer.enableEffects]] is true. It's a client-side option, so it only affects what you see on your own machine.[22]
Quantum Armor
The Quantum Armor options below tune the individual cards and armor limits. For each one, the pack's config shows the same value as the mod default.[21]
- [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum armor.quantumArmorPercentageDamageAbsorption]] is 30 (range 5 to 100). It's the maximum percentage of incoming damage the armor absorbs, and it is still limited by the energy buffer in the equipment.[21]
- [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum armor.quantumArmorEvasionChance]] is 30 (range 0 to 100) as the evasion chance percentage, and [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum armor.quantumArmorHpBuffer]] is 20 (range 5 to 50) for the HP Buffer card.[21]
- [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum armor.quantumArmorRenegerationPerTick]] is 10 (range 1 to 20). The value is divided by 10 before use.[21]
- Movement caps are [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum armor.quantumArmorMaxWalkSpeed]] at 60, [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum armor.quantumArmorMaxSprintSpeed]] at 80 and [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum armor.quantumArmorSwimSpeedBoost]] at 80. All three are divided by 10 before use. [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum armor.quantumArmorMaxFlightSpeed]] is 10.[21]
- [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum armor.quantumArmorMaxJumpHeight]] and [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum armor.quantumArmorMaxStepHeight]] are both 3, and [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum armor.quantumArmorMaxReachBoost]] is 5.[21]
- [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum armor.quantumArmorStrengthBoost]] is 10, [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum armor.quantumArmorAttackSpeedBoost]] is 5, [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum armor.quantumArmorLuckBoost]] is 2 and [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum armor.quantumArmorMagnetRange]] is 12.[21]
Throughput Monitor
Miscellaneous.throughputMonitorCacheSize is 80 in this pack (range 40 to 400). It only affects the "Per minute" and "Per 10 minutes" modes of the Throughput Monitor. Higher values give you more precision, but the monitor reacts more slowly to changes.[21]
What changed in AdvancedAE between versions?
1 part
FTB StoneBlock 4 1.21.0 ships AdvancedAE 1.6.12-1.21.1, and the mod has been in the pack since 1.0.0 or earlier. I had no pack changelog entries for this mod, so this is the mod's own history, going back from the versions just before the one you're running.[2]
Unverified The changelog text for 1.6.12, the version in this pack, was not available, so what that release changed is unverified.
Notable changes before 1.6.12
- 1.6.11: The quantum crafter no longer uses output space as an intermediate step when pushing to ME Storage. This fixes some item voiding in setups with high output.[23]
- 1.6.10: The auto stock menu can now change the amounts of items that were already in it.[24]
- 1.6.9: Extra client side checks were added for player events.[25]
- 1.6.7: Added IngredientStack, an ingredient that can hold items or fluids and their amount.[26]
- 1.6.6: Fixed the reaction chamber getting stuck when its inputs are split across multiple slots.[27]
- 1.6.4: Added the Camo Card, an upgrade for the quantum armor that lets you hide it. The quantum armor screen was also refactored to perform better.[28]
- 1.6.3: Added an in-game config screen. The EMI plugin no longer gets confused in the crafting tree when the reaction chamber's output is a fluid. A break speed event that sometimes returned infinity was fixed too, which had caused an interaction bug with JDT instant break.[29]
