What is Gateways To Eternity?
1 part
Gateways To Eternity adds gateways: challenge fights that you start with a Gate Pearl and that pay out in loot. This pack ships version 5.1.0 of the mod.[1][2]
The pack's quest book uses gateways to get hold of Sculk Shriekers, blaze powder, farm animals and early ender pearls. For the Emerald Grove gateway, you use the pearl on a block with enough walkable space around you, then fight off the waves that appear. Each gateway has its own enemies and its own rewards.[2]
Where it sits in the quest book
Gateways show up in the "Getting Started" chapter, which is chapter 4 of 31 in the book and belongs to the "Main Questline" group. Four quests there ask for a Gate Pearl, and each one comes after the quest "Proper Materials". The chapter has 57 quests in total, and I could only see some of them, so read the rest in the quest book itself.[2]
- a quest in "Getting Started": the gateway here gives you the Sculk Shriekers you need to upgrade Blazebloom Goo into VoidShimmer Goo. The quest says you craft this gateway once you've started generating energy and can get into the Powah and Actually Additions mods.[2]
- "Gateway of the Hellish Fortress" quest: you summon Nether inhabitants into the Overworld and kill them for loot, mainly blaze powder, before you can reach the Nether.[2]
- "More Animals! Now!" quest: the Gateway of the Emerald Grove. You fight a few waves of zombies and spiders, then farm animals spawn in the area, and each wave you beat also rewards certain crop materials.[2]
- "Enderman Gateway" quest: a good source of early ender pearls, and also how you get your first Chorus Fruits, which the quest says are required to progress in this pack.[2]
How do you get started with Gateways To Eternity?
6 parts
Gateways to Eternity is all about one item: the Gate Pearl. You use it on a block to open a Gateway, fight the waves that come out, and collect the rewards as they spawn. In this pack the Gate Pearl is how you get your first farm animals, early ender pearls, blaze powder and sculk shriekers.[2][3]
Where it shows up in the quest book
The Gate Pearl quests sit in the Getting Started chapter (chapter 4 of 31, in the Main Questline group). They all unlock after "Proper Materials" quest, which asks for an iron ingot. That quest comes after your chosen resource path: "Clusters of Creation" quest, "Essential Waters" quest or "The Old Ways" quest. So get your iron going first, then come back for the pearls.[2]
Before you open your first Gateway
- A Gate Pearl is used on a block to summon a Gateway, and it only works if the new Gateway wouldn't be too close to another one.[3]
- A Gateway implodes if it can't spawn a mob, if a mob wanders too far away, or if the wave timer runs out. It also fails if there isn't enough space to open it or to spawn the next wave.[3]
- It can also fail if no player is nearby, or if you run out of lives. So pick an open spot with plenty of walkable room.[3]
First up: Emerald Grove for animals and crops
Start with "More Animals! Now!" quest. It asks for a Gate Pearl and opens the Gateway of the Emerald Grove. The quest says you fight a few waves of zombies and spiders, then plenty of basic farm animals spawn to join your base. Certain crop materials are also rewarded for beating each wave. That's a big shortcut when waiting for animals to spawn on your fake grass is too slow.[2]

Next: Enderman Gateway for pearls and chorus fruit
"Enderman Gateway" quest is your early source of ender pearls. It's also where you get your first Chorus Fruits, which the quest says are required to progress in this pack. The quest advises setting up an extractor to farm more Chorus Fruit. The pack changed this Gate Pearl recipe.[2][4]

Then: Hellish Fortress for blaze powder before the Nether
"Gateway of the Hellish Fortress" quest has you summon some of the Nether's inhabitants into the Overworld and kill them for blaze powder, before you can reach the Nether itself. The pack changed this recipe too.[2][4]

Sculk Gateway for shriekers and VoidShimmer Goo
The a quest in "Getting Started" quest asks for a Gate Pearl and a sculk shrieker. It says that once you've started generating some energy, you can get into the Powah and Actually Additions mods to craft a Gateway that gives you the Sculk Shriekers. You need them to upgrade your Blazebloom Goo into VoidShimmer Goo. This recipe was added by the pack, so you won't find it in the base mod.[2][4]

The pack has more Gate Pearl recipes than these four, and many of them are added or changed by the pack. The text of 10 quests in this chapter is not shown in the sources here, so check the quest book itself for what else it points you to.[2][4]
How does Gateways To Eternity work?
6 parts
Gateways To Eternity is built around one item: the Gate Pearl. You use it on a block to summon a Gateway (the entity is called Gateway to Eternity), and then you fight what comes out of it.[3]
Opening a Gateway
A Gate Pearl only works if the new Gateway would not be too close to another Gateway, based on the current spacing. If there isn't room, you get the message that there's not enough space to open this Gateway. So move to a different spot instead of stacking Gateways next to each other.[3]
Once a Gateway is open, rewards spawn from it as they are obtained. You don't have to wait until the end to see loot appear.[3]
How a Gateway fails
An open Gateway fails in a burst of lightning if it cannot spawn a mob, if any active mob walks too far away, or if the wave timer elapses. The mod has a specific message for each way it can go wrong:[3]
- Wave Timer Expired: you took too long on the current wave.[3]
- No player nearby: the Gateway implodes if there is no player close by.[3]
- Entity removed without being killed: a wave entity vanished some way other than dying.[3]
- A wave entity ran too far away from the Gateway.[3]
- Not enough space to spawn the next wave.[3]
- You ran out of lives.[3]
Getting Gate Pearls in this pack
The pack has many different recipes that all make a Gate Pearl. Most of them use the mod's own gate recipe type, while the tiered ones from Apotheosis are ordinary shaped crafting recipes. The pack has changed some of them and added others, so check the exact in-pack recipes below instead of relying on the mod's defaults.[4]

How do you progress through Gateways To Eternity?
8 parts
Gateways To Eternity in this pack revolves around one item: the Gate Pearl. Every gateway recipe in the pack ends in one, and the quest book decides which ones you meet first. Below you'll find the questline order, then every recipe the pack gives you.[2][4]
Early game: the Main Questline
The Hellish Fortress, Emerald Grove, Enderman and Sculk gateway quests sit in the Getting Started chapter (group Main Questline, chapter 4 of 31 in the book). Each of them unlocks after "Proper Materials" quest, the iron quest you reach once you've worked through one of the resource paths.[2]
Hellish Fortress
"Gateway of the Hellish Fortress" quest has you summon Nether inhabitants into the Overworld and kill them for blaze powder. The quest warns the fight can be challenging because of the flying and ranged enemies, so prepare first. "The Nether" quest comes after this quest and the Steel Ingot quest. The pack changed this recipe.[2][4]

Emerald Grove
"More Animals! Now!" quest is the Gateway of the Emerald Grove. You fight a few waves of zombies and spiders, then plenty of basic farm animals spawn in the area, and each wave also rewards certain crop materials. This is the mod's own recipe, unchanged by the pack.[2][4]

Enderman Gateway
"Enderman Gateway" quest is a good source of early ender pearls. It is also how you get your first Chorus Fruits, which the quest says are required to progress in this pack, and it advises setting up an extractor to farm more. The pack changed this recipe.[2][4]

Sculk gateway and the road to the End
a quest in "Getting Started" asks you to craft a gateway that gives the Sculk Shriekers needed to upgrade Blazebloom Goo into VoidShimmer Goo. The quest points you to the Powah and Actually Additions mods for it. The pack added this recipe.[2][4]
Gate Recipe (gateways)

a quest in "Getting Started" comes after this quest, the Sky Replica Ingot quest and the Division Sigil quest, and has you make End Stone artificially. After it, "D.I.Y End Portal" quest also needs the Enderman Gateway quest, and "Slay The Ender Dragon" quest follows that.[2]
Other gateways added or changed by the pack
The pack changed the slime and Overworldian Nights recipes, and added the Swampwood Shadows one. I found no quest for these in the chapters covered here.[4]

Late game: the Bounty Board
The Bounty Board chapter (group Exploration & Combat, chapter 11 of 31) holds repeatable quests that pay cash you can spend at the shops. Several of them involve gateways:[5]
- "Defeat 10 Gateways To Eternity" quest tracks a stat for defeating 10 gateways.[5]
- "The Priest" quest and "Kill The Archevoker" quest both list a Gate Pearl among their tasks. The Archevoker is found at the top of a Certain Magical Dungeon.[5]
- "Kill The Warden" quest says the Warden can be summoned with the crafted gate pearl 'A Peer into the Abyss', or found in a certain Nether structure.[5]
- An untitled quest (a quest in "Bounty Board") asks you to acquire a Sigil of Supremacy from wave 100 of the Endless Gateway of Apothic Invaders.[5]
How does Gateways To Eternity work with other mods?
4 parts
Gateways To Eternity runs on one item: the Gate Pearl. Each gateway has its own recipe for it, and in this pack those recipes pull in items from lots of other mods. That's where most of the crossover happens, so here's how it breaks down.[4]
Recipes the pack changed
Several Gate Pearl recipes were changed by the pack, so don't assume you know them from the base mod. The Enderman gate asks for items from Irregular Implements and Just Direct Things, such as the Stable Ender Pearl and the Blazegold Ingot.[4]
Gate Recipe (gateways)
Recipe id: gateways:basic/enderman
The Hellish Fortress gate and the Overworldian Nights gate were changed too. Both use Grains of Infinity from Ender IO.[4]

Apotheosis tiered gateways
Apotheosis has its own set of Gate Pearl recipes for its tiered gateways. Ascent was changed by the pack, while Summit and Pinnacle are the mod's own recipes. They use Apotheosis items like Gem Dust, and Pinnacle also uses Apothic Enchanting items such as Warden Tendril.[4]

Recipes added by the pack
The pack also adds Gate Pearl recipes of its own. The sculk gate connects Actually Additions, Powah and vanilla: it uses the Empowered Void Crystal and the Blazing Crystal.[4]

There is also a group of gates built around Iron's Spells 'n Spellbooks items (runes, the Netherward Tincture and the Ruined Book), mixed with items from Reliquary, Cataclysm and Apotheosis. Here are the four recipes.[4]

Where the quest book connects them
Gate Pearls show up early in the quest book. The gateway quests sit in the "Getting Started" chapter, in the "Main Questline" group (chapter 4 of 31), and each one comes after the quest "Proper Materials". The quest book has more quests in that chapter that I can't show here, so check it in-game for the rest.[2]
- a quest in "Getting Started" asks for a Gate Pearl and a Sculk Shrieker. Its text sends you to the Powah and Actually Additions mods to craft the gateway, which lines up with the sculk recipe above.[2][4]
- "Gateway of the Hellish Fortress" quest asks for a Gate Pearl and blaze powder. The quest says you summon Nether inhabitants into the Overworld and kill them for loot, and it warns that the fight can be tough because of flying and ranged enemies.[2]
- "Enderman Gateway" quest asks for raw blazegold from Just Direct Things plus a Gate Pearl. It's described as a good way to get early ender pearls and your first Chorus Fruits, which you need to progress.[2]
- "More Animals! Now!" quest asks for a Gate Pearl. The text says you need an eye of ender and a handful of flowers for the Gateway of the Emerald Grove, which spawns farm animals and rewards crop materials after each wave.[2]
Which FTB Skies 2: Aero quests use Gateways To Eternity?
2 parts
The Gate Pearl shows up in two quest chapters in this pack. The main one is Getting Started, in the Main Questline group (chapter 4 of 31 in the book). The other is Bounty Board, in the Exploration & Combat group (chapter 11 of 31).[2][5]
Getting Started
Every gateway quest here unlocks after "Proper Materials" quest, the iron ingot quest. That quest itself comes after "Clusters of Creation" quest, "Essential Waters" quest and "The Old Ways" quest. From there, these are the gateway quests:[2]
- a quest in "Getting Started" asks for a Gate Pearl and a Sculk Shrieker. The quest says that once you have some energy running, you can use Powah and Actually Additions to craft a Gateway that gives you the Sculk Shriekers needed to upgrade your Blazebloom Goo into VoidShimmer Goo.[2]
- "Gateway of the Hellish Fortress" quest asks for a Gate Pearl and Blaze Powder. You summon Nether inhabitants into the Overworld and kill them for loot. The quest warns the fight can be tough because of flying and ranged enemies, so prepare first.[2]
- "More Animals! Now!" quest asks for a Gate Pearl. This gateway is a quicker way to get farm animals. You fight a few waves of zombies and spiders, then plenty of basic farm animals spawn in the area, and certain crop materials are rewarded for beating each wave.[2]
- "Enderman Gateway" quest asks for Raw Blazegold and a Gate Pearl. It is a good source of early ender pearls and of your first Chorus Fruits, which the quest says are required to progress in this pack. It also advises setting up an extractor to farm more Chorus Fruit.[2]
These quests feed the main progression. "The Nether" quest unlocks after a quest in "Getting Started" and the Hellish Fortress gateway quest. a quest in "Getting Started" unlocks after the Gate Pearl quest, a quest in "Getting Started" and a quest in "Getting Started". "D.I.Y End Portal" quest needs both the VoidShimmer Goo quest and the Enderman Gateway quest, and "Slay The Ender Dragon" quest comes after that.[2]
Bounty Board
"The Bounty Board" quest explains that this chapter holds repeatable quests you can complete for some extra cash to spend at the shops. Several of them involve gateways. The chapter listing shows no prerequisite quests for any of them.[5]
- "The Priest" quest has a kill task and asks for a Gate Pearl. Priests practicing wizardry are found in villages, and they trade healing potions.[5]
- "Kill The Archevoker" quest has a kill task and a structure task, and asks for a Gate Pearl. The Archevoker is the leader of a hostile illager troop, found at the top of a Certain Magical Dungeon.[5]
- "Kill The Warden" quest is a kill and structure quest. Its text says the Warden can be summoned with the crafted gate pearl 'A Peer into the Abyss' or found in a certain Nether structure.[5]
- "Defeat 10 Gateways To Eternity" quest is a statistic quest with no description. As the title says, it counts the Gateways To Eternity you defeat, with a target of 10.[5]
- a quest in "Bounty Board" is an untitled advancement quest that asks you to acquire a Sigil of Supremacy from wave 100 of the Endless Gateway of Apothic Invaders.[5]
