What is Just Dyna Things?

1 part

Just Dyna Things is an addon for JustDireThings that adds a bunch of new stuff. This pack ships version 1.9.6. It's more of a toolbox than a single system: anvils, budding blocks, goos, power generators and a few handy utility blocks and wands.[1][2]

What you get

  • More Anvils: special anvils that repair gear without spending experience. The Ferricore Anvil uses catalysts, the Blazegold Anvil uses a high temperature fluid, and the Celestigem Anvil uses Forge Energy. The Eclipse Alloy Anvil also runs on Forge Energy and gets a big repair boost if you add a coolant.[3][4][5][6][7]
  • Echoing Buddings: a new way to farm budding resources. They only need Time Fluid and Energy to grow clusters. There are versions for amethyst, certus, entro and phasorite, plus a Time one, e.g. Echoing Budding Amethyst.[8][9][10][11][12][13]
  • Goos: new goo tiers. The Energized Goo needs Forge Energy to stay alive and is tier 6, and the Creative Goo is a goo that cannot die. The Revitalizer revives any goo on top of it using Forge Energy.[14][15][16][17]
  • Generators: the Thermo Generator makes Forge Energy from heat source blocks and a fluid coolant. The Solar Panels make Forge Energy from ambient conditions, from the Ferricore Solar Panel at an FE rate of 240 up to the Eclipse Alloy Solar Panel at 11,520.[18][19][20][21][22][23]
  • Utility blocks and wands: the BlackHole (a universal trash can), the Ferricore Clock (a configurable redstone clock), the Phase Box (a block you can toggle between solid and not solid) and the Reforger (converts a block for a catalyst). There are also the Picker Wand, which picks up a block and places it elsewhere, and the Swapper Wand, which swaps a block with another without removing it from the world.[24][25][26][27][28][29][30]
Tip: The solar panels have different conditions. The Ferricore panel only works in the Overworld with sky access during the day, the BlazeGold panel only works in the Nether, and the Eclipse Alloy panel has no conditions at all.[20][22][23]

Unverified Where Just Dyna Things fits in this pack's progression is not confirmed by the available sources. No quests for the mod were found, and it is not on the ATM Star path.

How do you get started with Just Dyna Things?

4 parts

Just Dyna Things is an addon for Just Dire Things, so most of what you craft here is built from Just Dire Things materials. A sensible order is power first, then repairs, then the block-moving tools. The recipes below are the exact in-pack ones.[2][31]

First: a Ferricore Solar Panel

The Ferricore Solar Panel is the first panel in the set. It makes 240 FE and only works in the Overworld, with a clear view of the sky, during the day. The pack changed this recipe from the mod's default, so don't trust older guides or videos for it.[23][31]

Tip: Panels get better as you progress. The Blazegold Solar Panel makes 960 FE in the Nether. The Celestigem Solar Panel makes 3,840 FE and needs to see the sky. The Eclipse Alloy Solar Panel makes 11,520 FE with no conditions. The last two also produce more when other panels are nearby.[20][21][22]

Next: a Ferricore Anvil

The mod's anvils repair items without using experience. The Ferricore Anvil is the first one, and it repairs tools using catalysts. The default catalysts have durability rates of 64 and 128.[3][7]

The anvils form an upgrade chain. The Blazegold Anvil repairs with a high temperature fluid. The Celestigem Anvil repairs with Forge Energy. The Eclipse Alloy Anvil also uses Forge Energy, and if you add a coolant it repairs based on the coolant's efficiency and the item's total damage.[4][5][6]

Upgrading your panel at the smithing table

Once you reach Blazegold, you can upgrade your Ferricore panel at a smithing table instead of crafting a new one from scratch.[31]

Utility tools

The Picker Wand picks up a block and lets you place it somewhere else. The pack changed its recipe too, so check the one below.[29][31]

How does Just Dyna Things work?

5 parts

Just Dyna Things is a JustDireThings addon that adds new stuff. This section covers how each system works in this pack, and where the pack changed the mod's defaults.[2]

Power generation

The Thermo Generator makes Forge Energy (FE) from a heat source block plus a fluid coolant. The in-game guide gives the formula: FE generated = 125 x coolant efficiency x heat efficiency, and the coolant cost in mB is 125 divided by the coolant efficiency. A better coolant gives you more power and also costs less fluid.[18]

Default heat sources range from fire at 0.5x, soul fire at 0.75x and lava at 0.99x, up to 10.5x for the best source. Default coolant modifiers are 1.0x, 2.5x and 10.0x. The pack leaves the generator's internal buffers at the mod defaults: 1,000,000 FE and 100,000 mB of coolant.[18][32]

The solar panels generate FE from their surroundings instead of fuel. Their conditions and modifiers differ per tier, as shown in the in-game guide.[19]

  • Ferricore Solar Panel only works in the Overworld, with sky access, during the day. The guide lists 240 FE/t, but the pack lowers it to 64 FE/t and cuts the capacity from 100,000 to 1,000 FE.[23][32]
  • Blazegold Solar Panel works in the Nether. The guide lists 960 FE/t, but the pack sets 512 FE/t and a capacity of 5,000 FE (mod default 100,000). The pack also turns off this panel's day, sky, Y-level and solar-spam options.[20][32]
  • Celestigem Solar Panel needs sky access and produces more when other solar panels are nearby. The guide lists 3,840 FE/t, but the pack sets 1,024 FE/t and a capacity of 10,000 FE (mod default 1,000,000).[21][32]
  • The Eclipse Alloy Solar Panel has no conditions. It also gets the nearby-panel bonus, and high or low Y-levels raise its multiplier while middle Y-levels lower it. The guide lists 11,520 FE/t, but the pack sets 2,048 FE/t and a capacity of 100,000 FE (mod default 1,000,000).[22][32]
Watch out: The numbers shown on the in-game guide pages for the solar panels are the mod's defaults. This pack lowers every panel's output and capacity, for example through 5-solar_panel.solar_ferricore_ferate, so trust the pack values above.[20][21][22][23][32]

Anvils that skip experience

The extra anvils repair items without spending experience, and each one repairs in a different way.[3]

  • Ferricore Anvil repairs tools using catalysts. The default catalysts have durability rates of 64 and 128.[7]
  • Blazegold Anvil repairs using a high temperature fluid. The default fluids have efficiencies of 1.0x, 2.5x, 5.5x and 7.5x.[4]
  • Celestigem Anvil repairs using Forge Energy.[5]
  • The Eclipse Alloy Anvil also repairs with Forge Energy. If you add a coolant, it repairs based on coolant efficiency / 100 x total damage, and it can repair more than 1,000 per tick or fully repair the item. The default coolant has an efficiency of 10.0x.[6]

The anvils are also an upgrade chain in this pack: the Blazegold Anvil is crafted from the Ferricore Anvil, and the Celestigem Anvil from the Blazegold Anvil.[31]

Echoing Buddings

Echoing buddings grow clusters using only Time Fluid and Energy. The pack has versions for Echoing Budding Amethyst, Echoing Budding Time, Echoing Budding Certus and Echoing Budding Entro. A Phasorite version exists too.[8][9][10][11][12][13]

The pack keeps the general budding settings at the mod defaults: 100 FE/t and 100 mB/t, with 10,000 FE and 10,000 mB of capacity. The FE and mB costs are only applied by chance when a cluster grows, and a separate option toggles the growth sound.[32]

The other echoing buddings use the same pattern with a different budding block.

Goo handling

The mod adds goos that run on energy. Charged Primogel Goo is tier 1, Charged Blazebloom Goo is tier 2, Charged Voidshimmer Goo is tier 3 and Charged Shadowpulse Goo is tier 4. The guide calls these "Energized" goos.[32][33][34][35][36]

The generic Energized Goo needs Forge Energy to stay alive. Its guide page says tier 6, but the pack's config sets it to 5, so go with the config. The generic FE goo costs 100 FE/t with a 10,000 FE capacity, and both options have a tier multiplier switched on.[16][32]

Creative Goo is a goo that cannot die, and you can toggle it with any wrench. Its tier is the maximum, 2,147,483,647.[15][32]

The Revitalizer revives any goo placed on top of it, using Forge Energy. In this pack it costs 1,000 FE/t, holds 10,000 FE, and applies that cost with a 50% chance each time it revives a goo.[17][32]

Utility blocks

The Blackhole is a universal trash can. You can turn it off so it stores abnormal amounts of energy or fluid in a small space. Its FE and fluid capacities are 2,147,483,647 in this pack, the same as the mod default. The pack also keeps the stored contents when redstone disables it.[24][32]

The Reforger turns an input block placed against its red face into an output block, at the cost of a catalyst. Each default recipe has a chance to consume the catalyst, ranging from 25% to 100%.[27]

The Ferricore Clock is a configurable redstone clock. You program it with a gametick, and you can disable individual sides so it doesn't power things you don't want. The Phase Box toggles between solid and non-solid, and it connects textures if ConnectedTexturesMod is installed. In this pack neither block needs a wrench to change its state.[25][26][32]

The Picker Wand picks up a block so you can place it somewhere else. The Swapper Wand swaps one block with another without removing it from the world.[29][30]

How do you progress through Just Dyna Things?

4 parts

Just Dyna Things is a JustDireThings addon, so its progression follows the JustDireThings material ladder: Ferricore, then Blazegold, then Celestigem, then Eclipse Alloy. Solar panels and anvils each have a version at every step, and goos have their own tiers.[2][31]

Unverified The sources I was given show no quests in this pack that involve this mod, so there is no quest-guided order. The path below follows the in-pack recipes and the in-game guide. This site does hold FTB Skies 2's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

Solar panel tiers

Solar panels are the clearest tier ladder. Each one generates Forge Energy, and each tier is a big jump over the last. The conditions change too, so read them before you place anything.[19]

Each panel above the first can be made at a smithing table from the previous tier's panel. The Ferricore Solar Panel recipe is changed by the pack, so don't rely on the mod's default recipe for it.[31]

Goo tiers

The in-game guide lists energy-powered versions of the JustDireThings goo tiers: Primogel is tier 1, Blazebloom is tier 2, VoidShimmer is tier 3 and ShadowPulse is tier 4. In the pack you make the charged items and then upgrade them tier by tier. For example, Charged Primogel Goo upgrades into Charged Blazebloom Goo, and Voidshimmer and Shadowpulse follow the same pattern.[31][33][34][35][36]

How does Just Dyna Things work with other mods?

4 parts

Just Dyna Things is an addon for Just Dire Things, so that is where nearly all of its connections are. Almost every in-pack recipe for the mod's items uses Just Dire Things materials. A few also pull in vanilla items or item tags that other mods can fill.[2][31]

Echoing buddings and Applied Energistics

The echoing buddings tie into other mods through item tags. Each recipe needs a Polymorphic Catalyst, a vanilla echo shard and a regular budding block. The amethyst version takes any block from the vanilla amethyst block tag. Echoing Budding Certus accepts any block from the mod's AE2 budding tag. Echoing Budding Entro does the same with its Extended AE tag. The mod's own guide lists Applied Energistics 2, Extended AE and Phasorite Networks as supported mods for the buddings.[8][31]

Other connections

  • Phase Box can use connected textures when ConnectedTexturesMod is installed. Whether that mod is in this pack is unverified.[26]
  • Ferricore Clock and Reforger accept any item from the shared redstone dust tag. The Reforger also accepts the shared lapis and amethyst gem tags, so whichever mod provides those items works.[31]

Unverified No quests were found in this pack that involve Just Dyna Things items, so there are no quest-based integrations to list.

Which Just Dyna Things config options matter?

3 parts

Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.5.1 guide

Almost everything in this mod's common config is left at the mod's own default. The big exception is the solar panels, which the pack nerfed hard. Everything lives in the common config file, so that's the one to open.[37]

Solar panels: what the pack changed

Both the FE per tick and the FE capacity of all four solar panel tiers are lower in this pack than in the mod. Here's what the pack sets, with the mod default in brackets.[37]

Tip: If you've seen the mod's default solar numbers in other videos or guides, forget them here. Use the pack values above instead.[37]

Solar panel conditions

Each tier has its own toggles for daytime only, needing to see the sky, the Solar-Spam multiplier and the Y-level multiplier. The pack sets them differently per tier, so check the panel you're using.[37]

The config describes the Solar-Spam multiplier as reducing FE generation based on cheap prices, and the Y-level multiplier as reducing generation based on Y. It doesn't say by how much, so I can't give you exact figures.[37]

Left at the mod default

The Revitalizer uses the mod's values: 2-blocks.revitalizer_FErate is 1,000 FE/t, 2-blocks.revitalizer_maxFE is 10,000 FE, and 2-blocks.revitalizer_cost_chance is a 50 percent chance to apply the FE cost when it revitalizes a goo.[37]

The goo tiers also match the mod defaults:[37]

The counter reducer is unchanged too: 4-goo.goo_energized_counter_reducer is 15, same as the mod default.[37]

The Blackhole is also at the mod defaults, with these four options:[37]

2-blocks.blackhole_keep is true, so the Blackhole keeps its stored contents when redstone disables it.[37]

Two quality-of-life settings are off. 2-blocks.phasebox_requireWrench and 2-blocks.ferricoreclock_requireWrench are both false, so you don't need a wrench to change the Phase Box or Ferricore Clock state.[37]

If the anvil repair sounds bother you, 6-anvil.anvils_sound switches off the repair sound for all anvils at once. It's true in this pack, and each anvil also has its own sound toggle. The Eclipse Alloy anvil's 6-anvil.anvil_eclipsealloy_damage_limit is 1,000, same as the mod default.[37]
