What is FTB Stuff & Things?
2 parts
FTB Stuff & Things is a content mod that ships with the pack as version 21.1.11. It has been in the pack since 1.0.1 or earlier, so it's part of the core experience and not a late addition.[1]
You meet it right at the start. Several quests in the early "the_beginning" chapter ask you to get its items, so it's part of how you get going in the pack.[2]
Where it shows up in the early quests
- a quest in "?" asks for a Dripper and a bowl.[2]
- a quest in "?" asks for a Tempered Glass Jar and a lava bucket. a quest in "?" comes right after it and asks for the Jar Automater.[2]
- a quest in "?" accepts a water strainer of any wood type, from Oak Water Strainer and Spruce Water Strainer to Crimson Water Strainer and Warped Water Strainer. It also asks for a stone pebble from another mod.[2]
- a quest in "?" asks for the Iron Auto-Hammer, Gold Auto-Hammer, Diamond Auto-Hammer and Netherite Auto-Hammer.[2]
- a quest in "?" asks for the Stone Cobble Generator. It unlocks after the same earlier quest as the auto-hammer quest.[2]
- a quest in "?" asks for cobblestone, gravel, dirt, sand and Dust.[2]
Resource quests
The "resources_and_you" chapter has three quests that each ask for a single mod item: Crushed Netherrack in a quest in "?", Crushed Basalt in a quest in "?", and Dust in a quest in "?".[3]
Unverified The sources don't describe how these machines and items work, or what each one produces, so check them in-game before you build around them. The quests also don't show that this mod is on the ATM Star path.
How do you get started with FTB Stuff & Things?
4 parts
Welcome in! The early game of this pack is guided by the quest chapter "the_beginning", and a lot of what it asks for comes from FTB Stuff & Things. Here is a sensible path through those items, and why each one matters.[2]
Dripper and Tempered Glass Jar
a quest in "?" asks for a Dripper and a bowl. It only needs basic wooden parts, so it is an easy first craft.[2][4]

Get Dust from sand
Hammers are your main way of breaking things down: the mod describes them as crushing materials down to their core components. In this pack, hammer recipes turn sand into Dust, and the Create crushing and milling recipes for sand into dust are changed by the pack too. Dust shows up in the resource quest a quest in "?", alongside cobblestone, gravel, dirt and sand, and it has its own quest in the "resources_and_you" chapter, a quest in "?".[2][3][4][5]
This hammer recipe was added by the pack.
The same chapter also tracks Crushed Basalt (a quest in "?") and Crushed Netherrack (a quest in "?"). Both can be made by hammering basalt and netherrack, using recipes the pack added.[3][4]
Water strainer
a quest in "?" asks for any water strainer plus a stone pebble. Every wood type has its own strainer, such as the Oak Water Strainer, and each one is made with a Cloth Mesh. The quest accepts any of them, so pick whichever wood you have.[2][4]

Automation
Once you are comfortable, two quests open up. One is a quest in "?", which covers the iron, gold, diamond and netherite auto-hammers, starting with the Iron Auto-Hammer. The other is a quest in "?", the Stone Cobble Generator. Both come after the same earlier quest.[2][4]

How does FTB Stuff & Things work?
4 parts
Here is what the sources confirm about how FTB Stuff & Things works in this pack. It is a smaller picture than a full mechanics breakdown, so I have kept it to what can be backed up.[4][5]
Cobblestone and basalt generators
The mod has cobblestone generators and basalt generators. Each family climbs through the same tiers: Stone, Iron, Gold, Diamond and Netherite. For example, the Stone Cobble Generator and the Stone Basalt Generator sit at the bottom, and the Netherite Cobble Generator and Netherite Basalt Generator sit at the top.[4]
All of these generator recipes are added by the pack. The Stone tier has its own crafting recipe, and you can then move up tier by tier with upgrade recipes instead of rebuilding the generator. Each upgrade takes the previous tier's generator plus a plate and turns it into the next tier.[4]
- Cobblestone line: Stone Cobble Generator, Iron Cobble Generator, Gold Cobble Generator, Diamond Cobble Generator, Netherite Cobble Generator.[4]
- Basalt line: Stone Basalt Generator, Iron Basalt Generator, Gold Basalt Generator, Diamond Basalt Generator, Netherite Basalt Generator.[4]

The Stone tier recipes use Compressed Cobblestone and Compressed Basalt. The crafting recipes for the higher tiers use Double Compressed Cobblestone and Double Compressed Basalt instead, so you can also craft a higher tier directly rather than upgrading.[4]
The Pump
The Pump has more than one recipe in this pack, and both are pack additions. The mod also has an advancement about over-winding a Pump and suffering the consequences, so a Pump can be wound too far. The sources do not explain what that does, so be careful with it.[4][5]

Other machines and tools
- The Fusing Machine is described as fusing items together to produce new results.[5]
- The Super Cooler is described as "super"-cooling items to produce new results.[5]
- The Wooden Basin works by placing a block on top of it and then falling or jumping on it.[5]
- Hammers crush materials down to their core components.[5]
How do you progress through FTB Stuff & Things?
4 parts
In this pack, FTB Stuff & Things progression starts with a few early tools in the first quest chapter. From there you move on to hammers for making dust and crushed blocks, then climb the tiered auto-hammers and generators.[2][3][4]
Early game: The Beginning quests
The first FTB Stuff & Things items show up in the quest chapter called the beginning. Here is what those quests ask for:[2]
- a quest in "?" asks for a Dripper and a bowl.[2]
- a quest in "?" asks for a Tempered Glass Jar and a lava bucket.[2]
- a quest in "?" unlocks after the jar quest and asks for the Jar Automater.[2]
- a quest in "?" asks for a water strainer and a stone pebble. Any wood variant counts, from Oak Water Strainer to Warped Water Strainer.[2]
- a quest in "?" is a resource check: cobblestone, gravel, dirt, sand and Dust.[2]

Hammers, dust and crushed blocks
The pack adds its own hammer recipes. Sand and red sand become Dust, basalt becomes Crushed Basalt, and netherrack becomes Crushed Netherrack. The compressed, double compressed and triple compressed versions of these blocks can be hammered too.[4]
If you use Create, the pack also changed the milling recipes for dust, crushed basalt and crushed netherrack. It added crushing recipes that turn compressed basalt and compressed netherrack into their crushed forms.[4]
The resources_and_you chapter tracks these outputs with a quest in "?" for dust, a quest in "?" for crushed basalt and a quest in "?" for crushed netherrack.[3]
Auto-hammer tiers
a quest in "?" lists the Iron Auto-Hammer, Gold Auto-Hammer, Diamond Auto-Hammer and Netherite Auto-Hammer. Each step above Iron is crafted from the auto-hammer one tier below, so you climb them in order.[2][4]

Generator tiers
a quest in "?" asks for the Stone Cobble Generator. In this pack, cobble generators come in Stone, Iron, Gold, Diamond and Netherite tiers, and the recipes for them were added by the pack. Basalt generators follow the same five tiers.[2][4]

How does FTB Stuff & Things work with other mods?
6 parts
This pack ties FTB Stuff & Things into other mods through pack-added recipes and quests: sifting, a few crafting recipes and some Lychee world-interaction recipes. Here is where the links show up.[2][3][4]
Sifting into other mods' materials
The pack adds sifting recipes that take Dust, Crushed Netherrack and Crushed Basalt and turn them into materials from several other mods. Which mesh you use decides what you get. The quest book's "resources_and_you" chapter has one quest for each of these items: a quest in "?", a quest in "?" and a quest in "?".[3][4]
- Dust with the Mechanical Iron Mesh gives Gold Chunk, Niter Dust, Salt Dust, bone meal and gunpowder.[4]
- Dust with the Mechanical Gold Mesh or Mechanical Diamond Mesh adds Bauxite Dust, Nickel Chunk, Redstone Chunk and Silver Chunk to that list.[4]
- Dust with the Mechanical Blazing Mesh gives finished ingots such as Nickel Ingot and Silver Ingot, plus Industrial Aluminum Dust.[4]
- Dust with the Mechanical Cloth Mesh gives Tiny Iron Dust, Salt Dust, bone meal and Dirt Essence.[4]
- Crushed Netherrack with the blazing, diamond or gold mesh gives Soulium Dust. The blazing mesh also gives Black Quartz. The diamond and gold meshes give Quartz Chunk.[4]
- Crushed Basalt with the gold, diamond or blazing mesh gives Sulfur Dust and Dirty Netherite Scrap, plus netherrack.[4]
Early on, the quest a quest in "?" also asks you to pair a water strainer with Stone Pebble.[2]

Cloth mesh conversion
The pack lets you swap between the Cloth Mesh and the Mechanical Cloth Mesh in both directions with shapeless crafting.[4]
Soulium Dust
The pack also adds a shapeless crafting recipe for Soulium Dust that starts from Compressed Dust and brings in items from other mods. The recipe is shown below.[4]

Quest links
In the early "the_beginning" chapter, some quests pair this mod's items with vanilla ones. a quest in "?" asks for the Tempered Glass Jar and a Lava Bucket, and a quest in "?" asks for the Dripper and a bowl.[2]
Which FTB Skies 2 quests use FTB Stuff & Things?
2 parts
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide
Quests that involve this mod appear in two chapters: the_beginning and resources_and_you. The quest entries in the pack files have no titles, so the quests below are identified by their IDs. The order comes from each quest's prerequisite, which the files list as "after".[6][7]
Chapter: the_beginning
This chapter is where the mod first shows up. Several quests ask you to hand in the mod's machines and materials as you build your early setup.[6]
- a quest in "?" asks for a Dripper and a bowl. It also has one more item task that the source doesn't name. It unlocks after an earlier quest in the chapter.[6]
- a quest in "?" asks for a Tempered Glass Jar and a lava bucket. It also unlocks after an earlier quest.[6]
- a quest in "?" asks for a Jar Automater. It comes right after the Tempered Glass Jar and lava bucket quest above.[6]
- a quest in "?" asks for a water strainer. Any wood variant counts, from Oak Water Strainer and Spruce Water Strainer to Crimson Water Strainer and Warped Water Strainer. It also asks for the createsifter:stone_pebble item.[6]
- a quest in "?" is a collection quest: cobblestone, gravel, dirt, sand and Dust, plus one more item the source doesn't name.[6]
- a quest in "?" asks for a Stone Cobble Generator.[6]
- a quest in "?" lists the Iron Auto-Hammer, Gold Auto-Hammer, Diamond Auto-Hammer and Netherite Auto-Hammer as its tasks.[6]
The Stone Cobble Generator quest and the Auto-Hammer quest both unlock after the same earlier quest. That means they are two parallel branches, and you can do them in either order.[6]
Chapter: resources_and_you
This chapter has three simple quests, each asking for one item from the mod: Crushed Netherrack in a quest in "?", Crushed Basalt in a quest in "?", and Dust in a quest in "?". The files list no prerequisites for any of them, so you can pick them up in any order.[7]
Unverified The files don't show where each quest sits on the quest map, and some prerequisite quests are outside the data available here. The exact on-screen order and any rewards are unconfirmed.
