What is Extended AE?
3 parts
Extended AE is an add-on for Applied Energistics 2 that streamlines storage and crafting workflows. The pack ships Extended AE 2.2.15 for NeoForge. If you already run an AE2 network and want bigger, faster autocrafting and smarter storage, this is the mod for you.[1][2]
What it adds
- A 36-slot Pattern Provider and Interface, so you can hold huge recipe sets in one block.[1]
- Tag and Mod storage buses: ME Tag Storage Bus filters by item tag and ME Mod Storage Bus filters by mod ID. The pack's quest book also asks for the ME Precise Storage Bus.[1][3]
- The Assembler Matrix, a multiblock crafter. Each pattern core gives 36 pattern slots, and each craft core runs 8 crafting jobs at the same time.[4]
- The Circuit Slicer, which slices material blocks into processor prints directly. It is 9x faster than the inscriber at most times.[5]
- The ME Canner, which fills containers with fluids by default and can also empty them. Other resource types need a supported addon mod.[1][6]
The Entro system
Most Extended AE gear is built from Entro Crystal, the main crafting ingredient for most of the mod's items and machines. You get it by turning a seed into Entroized Fluix Budding and harvesting the cluster that grows on it. Right-clicking with an Entro Seed is the manual route and gives a better budding block than injecting the seed by machine.[7][8]
The Crystal Assembler is the next key machine, because most of the extended devices are too complex for a crafting table. It also handles some in-world transformations, such as fluix transformation.[9]
Where it fits in the pack
Extended AE shows up in the pack's ae2 quest chapter. First, a quest in "?" asks for an Entro Crystal and an Entro Seed. After that, a quest in "?" asks for the Crystal Assembler.[3]
Two quests then branch from the Crystal Assembler. a quest in "?" asks for the Inscriber Concurrent Press and the Concurrent Processor, and a quest in "?" asks for the Crystal Fixer. Separately, a quest in "?" covers storage buses: the regular AE2 one plus the Tag, Mod and Precise versions.[3]
How do you get started with Extended AE?
6 parts
Extended AE brings some classic AE features back for modern AE. The Entro Crystal is the main crafting ingredient for most of its items and machines, so that's where you start. The pack's ae2 quest chapter follows a similar order: Entro Crystal and Seed, then the Crystal Assembler, then the Concurrent Processor and the Crystal Fixer.[3][7][10]
Make an Entro Seed
The Entro Seed is your way into the crystal system. Right-click a Fluix Block in the world with it and the block turns into Budding Entroized Fluix. a quest in "?" asks for both a Seed and a Crystal.[3][8][11]

Budding Entroized Fluix grows Entro Clusters much like Certus Quartz does, and you harvest the clusters for crystals. If you break a bud before it is fully grown you only get an Entro Shard, and 8 shards can be crafted back into a crystal. The budding block also degrades over time, and you can't avoid that.[7][12][13]
Shortcuts to Entro Crystals
The pack adds its own crafting recipe for the crystal, based on a Mystical Agriculture essence. It's a handy shortcut if you don't want to wait on buds.[14]

Entro Ingot and the Extended Machine Frame
Crystals are too brittle to go straight into a machine frame, so they get fused into an Entro Infused Ingot first. Entro Dust, which you get by breaking Entroized Fluix Budding, goes into the ingot recipe.[14][15][16]
With ingots in hand, craft the Extended Machine Frame. Most block-form machines in the mod need one.[14][17]

The Crystal Assembler
Most Extended AE devices are too complex for a crafting table, so you build the Crystal Assembler next. It can also do some in-world transformation recipes. Its screen face can't connect to your network. In the quest book, a quest in "?" for this machine comes after the Entro Crystal and Seed quest.[3][9]

Concurrent Processor
The Concurrent Processor is used in multi-thread machines so they can handle several jobs at once. a quest in "?" comes after the Crystal Assembler quest and asks for the Inscriber Concurrent Press and the processor itself. Here is the press.[3][18]

Crystal Fixer
The Crystal Fixer can repair budding certus blocks and turn them into the upgraded version. It needs power to work. a quest in "?" also comes after the Crystal Assembler quest, and the fixer is made in the Crystal Assembler.[3][14][19]

How does Extended AE work?
8 parts
Extended AE is an add-on for Applied Energistics 2 that streamlines storage and crafting. Most of what it adds falls into a few groups: parallel crafting machines, bigger or faster ME devices, smarter buses and emitters for automation, and the Entro crystal chain that feeds the crafting recipes.[1][10]
Assembler Matrix (the multiblock)
The Assembler Matrix is the mod's multiblock crafter. It runs a lot of crafting jobs at the same time, as long as your ME network has the ingredients, and it saves you channels. It is a solid rectangular prism: the edges are Assembler Matrix Frame, the faces are Assembler Matrix Wall or Assembler Matrix Glass, and the inside is filled with cores.[4]
It can't be hollow, and it needs at least one pattern core and one craft core. When it is formed and powered, the lines on the frame turn blue, so you can tell at a glance that it works.[4]
- Pattern core: the matrix only takes patterns from its pattern cores, and each one gives 36 pattern slots.[4]
- Craft core: crafting jobs are assigned to craft cores, and each one runs 8 jobs at the same time.[4]
- Speed core: 5 speed cores let the matrix run at full speed. Adding more than 5 gives no extra boost.[4]
The in-game guide says the edge length can be between 3 and 7. In this pack the size cap is set by device.assembler_matrix_max_size, which is 6 (the same as the mod default, with an allowed range of 3 to 16). Plan for 6 as the largest size.[4][20]
Right-click a formed and online matrix to open its GUI. There you can put in or search patterns and see how many jobs it is running.[4]

Parallel crafting machines
- Crystal Assembler: you need it to craft most of the extended devices, and it also does some in-world transformation recipes such as fluix transformation. Its screen face can't connect to the network. In this pack device.enable_crystal_assembler_inscribe_processors is true, so it can also run processor inscriber recipes.[9][20]
- Extended Molecular Assembler: runs 8 crafting jobs at once and is 2x faster than the normal one. You can't put a pattern in it directly, because it only supports crafting jobs handed to it.[21]
- Extended Inscriber: runs 4 inscribing jobs at the same time. It has a button to change the max stack size of its inventory.[22]
- Extended Charger: charges 4 items at the same time.[23]
- Circuit Slicer (Circuit Slicer): slices material blocks straight into processor prints, so it is 9x faster than an inscriber most of the time. Glass faces without a port can't connect to the network.[5]

Item and fluid handling
The extended import and export buses (ME Extended Import Bus and ME Extended Export Bus) work faster than the normal ones and have more upgrade slots. The speed multiplier is device.extended_io_bus_multiplier, and this pack keeps it at the default 8. The Extended IO Port is also 8x faster than the normal one.[20][24][25]
The ME Oversize Interface has the same number of slots as a normal interface but holds more per slot. The pack uses the default multiplier of 16 (device.oversize_interface_multiplier), which gives 1024 (64x16) items per slot. device.custom_oversize_interface_multiplier sets special multipliers for other key types: 2 for appbot:mana and 4 for appflux:flux.[20][26]
- ME Extended Pattern Provider and ME Extended Interface: larger versions of the normal blocks. The mod's project page describes both as 36-slot.[1][27][28]
- ME Extended Drive: a drive that holds 20 storage cells.[29]
- ME Ingredient Buffer: a storage block that holds 36 types of anything, items and fluids included.[30]
- ME Canner: fills containers with fluids by default. Other things such as Mekanism gas, Botania mana and energy need the matching addon: Applied Flux, Applied Mekanistics or Applied Botanics Addon. Only its top and bottom sides connect to the network and accept energy. It can also drain containers in Empty mode, if you swap the inputs and outputs in the pattern.[6]
- ME Infinity Cells (water and cobblestone) hold 2.1 billion items or fluids, and you can pull infinite cobblestone or water out of them.[31]
Filtering buses
- ME Mod Storage Bus and ME Mod Export Bus filter by mod name or mod id. Separate several mod ids with commas.[32][33]
- Tag Storage Bus and Tag Export Bus filter by item or fluid tags. The storage bus supports basic logic, for example c:ingots/* | c:gems/* accepts all ingots and gems.[34][35]
- Precise Storage Bus only inserts items up to the number you set.[36]
- Precise Export Bus exports exact quantities and only exports if the container can accept the whole amount. With 3 cobblestones set, it stops when the network holds fewer than 3 or when the chest can't take all 3.[37]
Automation and redstone
The Threshold Export Bus exports when the stored amount of an item is above or below a threshold. In the guide's example, copper at 128 exports when the network holds more than 128, or when it holds less in BELOW mode.[38]
The Threshold Level Emitter works like a set-reset latch. With a lower threshold of 100 and an upper threshold of 150, it stays off until the stored amount goes over 150. It keeps sending a signal while the amount falls, and only turns off once it drops below 100.[39]
The ME Active Formation Plane places blocks or drops items actively. It needs no subnet, and it works like an export bus that places blocks instead of outputting to a chest.[40]
The Extended Pattern Access Terminal adds better pattern search by input or output names, highlighting of matched patterns in the GUI, and highlighting of the Pattern Provider in the world. That last one helps when a big crafting job is stuck.[41]
The Pattern Modifier edits patterns in bulk. In Multiply mode it multiplies or divides a processing pattern's input and output amounts, with a cap of 999999 per ingredient, and division only works when the amount divides evenly. This pack's item.pattern_modifier_multipliers lists the multipliers 2, 3, 5 and 7. It also has Replace, Property and Clone modes.[20][42]
Upgrading and moving devices
The upgrade items (Pattern Provider Upgrade, Interface Upgrade, Import/Export Bus Upgrade, Pattern Access Terminal Upgrade and Drive Upgrade) swap normal ME devices for the extended versions. Sneak and right-click the device, and all its settings and inventory are kept.[43]
ME Packing Tape packs an in-world device into a package item when you sneak and right-click it, keeping its settings and inventory. It only works on devices on the whitelist, which this pack sets in item.me_packing_tape_whitelist. That list covers the extended interface, pattern provider and drive, plus the normal AE2 interface, pattern provider and drive. To unpack, right-click with the package as if it were the device.[20][44]
Power and wireless links
The ME Wireless Connector links two networks with a limited distance and can't cross dimensions. In this pack the maximum range is 1000 (device.wireless_connector_max_range) and the power multiplier is 1 (device.wireless_connector_power_multiplier), both the mod defaults. You link two connectors by clicking each with the ME Wireless Setup Kit. Connectors can be colored and only connect to the same color.[20][45]
Other power numbers: the ME Canner spends 80 AE per operation, and an ME Infinity Cell has an idle cost of 8 AE/t, set by item.infinity_cell_energy_cost.[6][20]
The Entro chain
Entro Crystal is the main crafting ingredient for most of the mod's items and machines. You grow it like Certus Quartz. Craft an Entro Seed, then right-click a Fluix Block with it to turn the block into Budding Entroized Fluix. Breaking a bud before it is fully grown gives an Entro Shard. The degradation of the budding block can't be avoided.[7][11][12][13]

How do you progress through Extended AE?
5 parts
Extended AE has no tier ladder of its own in this pack. What you get is a quest chain in the AE2 chapter, and it runs in this order: Entro materials, then the Crystal Assembler, then the Concurrent Processor and Crystal Fixer. A separate quest covers the storage bus variants.[3]
Step 1: Entro Crystal and Entro Seed
The first quest, a quest in "?", asks you to hand in an Entro Crystal and an Entro Seed. Everything else in the mod builds on these.[3]

There are several ways to get an Entro Crystal in this pack:[14]
- The Advanced AE reaction recipe turns Fluix into Entro Crystal.[14]
- An in-world transform recipe also makes Entro Crystal from Fluix.[14]
- You can recycle an Entro Shard into a crystal, or unpack an Entro Block back into crystals.[14]
- The pack adds a crafting recipe that turns Mystical Agriculture Entro Crystal Essence into Entro Crystal. A second pack recipe turns the same essence into Entro Dust.[14]

Step 3: Concurrent Processor and Crystal Fixer
Two quests unlock once you have the Crystal Assembler. a quest in "?" asks for the Inscriber Concurrent Press and the Concurrent Processor. a quest in "?" asks for the Crystal Fixer.[3]
The Concurrent Processor is commonly used in multi-thread machines, so they can handle multiple works at the same time. You make the press in the Crystal Assembler and the processor in an inscriber.[14][18]

Endgame-style machines
The Assembler Matrix is a multiblock that can run a lot of crafting jobs at the same time and saves channels. Its edge lengths are between 3 and 7. It needs at least one pattern core and one craft core, it must be completely filled, and it can't be hollow. Each pattern core gives 36 pattern slots, and each craft core runs 8 crafting jobs at once. 5 speed cores give full speed, and more than 5 add nothing.[4]
The pack changed the Assembler Matrix Frame recipe from the mod's default. The Craft Core and Speed Core are made in the Crystal Assembler.[14]

How does Extended AE work with other mods?
4 parts
Extended AE is an add-on for Applied Energistics 2, so it plugs into AE2 first. In this pack it also reaches into several other mods through recipes, mostly for the Concurrent Processor and the Entro materials. Here is what the pack's recipes and quests actually show.[1][14]
Applied Energistics 2
Most Extended AE devices are upgraded versions of AE2 machines. The ME Extended Drive, Extended Inscriber, Extended Charger and Extended Molecular Assembler are each crafted in the Crystal Assembler from the matching AE2 machine. The Crystal Assembler is needed for most of these devices because they are too complex for a crafting table.[9][14]
Crafting Shaped

The Crystal Assembler itself is made from AE2 parts, so you need an AE2 network first.
The quest chapter named "ae2" follows the same path. It asks for Entro Crystal and Entro Seed (a quest in "?"), then the Crystal Assembler (a quest in "?"). After that come the Concurrent Processor and its press (a quest in "?") and the Crystal Fixer (a quest in "?"). A separate quest, a quest in "?", covers the AE2 storage bus alongside the tag, mod and precise storage buses.[3]
Wireless terminals (AE2WTLib)
The Wireless Extended Pattern Access Terminal can be combined with the Wireless Crafting Terminal, the Wireless Pattern Access Terminal or the Wireless Pattern Encoding Terminal. Each of these has its own combine recipe.[14]
Advanced AE
The Advanced AE add-on builds on Extended AE. Its Advanced Extended Pattern Provider is an upgrade of the ME Extended Pattern Provider. Its quantum computer parts, such as the Quantum Crafting Unit, Quantum Computer Accelerator and Quantum Computer Multi-Threader, all need the Concurrent Processor. Advanced AE also has its own recipe for Entro Crystal.[14]

Which FTB Skies 2 quests use Extended AE?
2 parts
Extended AE shows up in one quest chapter in this pack: the "ae2" chapter. None of its Extended AE quests have a title, so you'll find them by their tasks. Here is what each one asks for and the order they unlock in.[3]
The Entro and crafting line
- Quest a quest in "?" is the start of the line. You hand in an Entro Crystal and an Entro Seed. It unlocks after an earlier quest in the same chapter.[3]
- Quest a quest in "?" asks for the Crystal Assembler. It needs the Entro quest above and one other quest from the chapter to be done first.[3]
- Quest a quest in "?" wants both the Inscriber Concurrent Press and the Concurrent Processor. It opens once the Crystal Assembler quest is done.[3]
- Quest a quest in "?" asks for the Crystal Fixer. It also opens after the Crystal Assembler quest, so you can do it before or after the processor quest.[3]
The storage bus branch
Quest a quest in "?" is on a separate branch. It unlocks after a different quest in the chapter, not the Entro line. It asks for four items: the standard ME Storage Bus plus three Extended AE variants, the ME Tag Storage Bus, the ME Mod Storage Bus and the ME Precise Storage Bus.[3]
Unverified The quest file lists no titles, descriptions or rewards for these quests, so what you get for completing them is unverified here.
Which Extended AE config options matter?
4 parts
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide
Everything for Extended AE lives in one file, config/extendedae-common.toml. Every option in it that lists a mod default is set to exactly that default in this pack. The values below are what you get here.[47]
Crafting and interface sizes
- device.assembler_matrix_max_size is 6, the same as the mod default. The allowed range is 3 to 16.[47]
- device.extended_io_bus_multiplier is 8, the same as the mod default. It sets the speed multiplier of the ME Extend Import/Export Bus, and the range is 2 to 128.[47]
- device.oversize_interface_multiplier is 16, the same as the mod default. It is the size multiplier of the oversize interface, with a range of 2 to 4,096.[47]
- device.custom_oversize_interface_multiplier is set to appbot:mana 2 and appflux:flux 4. These are per-key-type multipliers for the oversize interface.[47]
- device.enable_crystal_assembler_inscribe_processors is true, so the Crystal Assembler is allowed to do processor inscriber recipes.[47]
Wireless connector and Infinity Cells
- device.wireless_connector_max_range is 1,000, the same as the mod default. It is the max range between two wireless connectors.[47]
- device.wireless_connector_power_multiplier is 1, the same as the mod default. It is the power usage multiplier for wireless connectors.[47]
- item.infinity_cell_energy_cost is 8 AE/t, the same as the mod default. It is the idle energy cost of an ME Infinity Cell.[47]
Pattern Modifier and ME Packing Tape
item.pattern_modifier_multipliers is set to 2, 3, 5 and 7 in this pack.[47]
item.me_packing_tape_whitelist decides which AE devices and parts the ME Packing Tape can pack. In this pack it covers the Extended AE interface, pattern provider and drive, plus their part versions for the interface and pattern provider. It also covers the ae2 interface, pattern provider and drive, and the ae2 cable versions of the interface and pattern provider.[47]
Client and debug options
client.disable_inscriber_item_render is false, so the Extended Inscriber's item render stays on. It only works client side. misc.debug_mode is false, so debug logging is off.[47]
