What is Chipped?
2 parts
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide
Chipped is a building mod that gives you a huge range of decorative block variants. The project page advertises over 11,000 unique building blocks, from stained glass variations to concrete, prismarine and gilded blackstone. The textures are hand-made in the vanilla style, and many of them are connected textures powered by Athena.[1]
If you've ever used Chisel, you'll get the idea straight away. Chipped is inspired by it and is built for anyone who wants more variety in their builds, whether that's a castle, a nether fortress or a plain dirt house.[1]
How you use it
You start by crafting one of the seven tables, which turn various vanilla blocks into their chipped variants. The tables all look different but work the same way, so pick whichever suits your build, or make a few different ones and spread them around your base.[1]
In this pack
The pack ships Chipped 4.0.2, built for NeoForge on Minecraft 1.21.1.[2]
Unverified The sources I have don't show where Chipped fits in the pack's progression, and they don't show any recipe changes. Check the recipes in-game before you plan around them. This site does hold FTB Skies 2's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.
How do you get started with Chipped?
3 parts
Chipped is a building mod that adds a huge range of block variants. Your first job is simple: craft a table. Tables are what turn vanilla blocks into their chipped variants, and the mod has seven of them.[1]
First: craft your tables
The pack changed the recipes for the Mason Table, Carpenters Table, Tinkering Table and Glassblower. The Loom Table, Botanist Workbench and Alchemy Bench still use the mod's own recipes. Check the recipes below instead of relying on what you remember from other packs.[3]

Next: make the tools that go with them
Each table has a matching item, and each of those recipes uses its own table as an ingredient. The Chisel and the Saw are both changed by the pack, so follow these recipes.[3]

The rest of the tools use the mod's own recipes:[3]
- Needles go with the Loom Table.[3]
- Multimeter goes with the Tinkering Table.[3]
- Watering Can goes with the Botanist Workbench.[3]
- Alchemy Book goes with the Alchemy Bench.[3]

Pack extras worth knowing
The pack adds Create sandpaper polishing recipes for a couple of Chipped blocks: Crying Obsidian becomes Polished Crying Obsidian, and Mud Bricks becomes Polished Mud Bricks.[3]
The pack also adds Create cutting recipes for the chipped log and stem variants, for example Chipped Stripped Oak Log. Each one gives you the stripped variant plus tree bark.[3]
How does Chipped work?
3 parts
Chipped is a building mod, so there are no machines to wire up here: no power, no fluids, no multiblocks. What the sources describe is a set of crafting tables that turn vanilla blocks into their chipped variants. The project page says the mod offers over 11,000 unique building blocks, many of them with connected textures.[1]
The tables
The project page says you start with one of seven tables that change various vanilla blocks into chipped variants. All the tables look different but work the same, so pick whichever suits your build, or spread a few different ones around your base.[1]
The sources I have name these tables: Alchemy Bench, Botanist Workbench, Carpenters Table, Glassblower, Mason Table and Tinkering Table. The recipes for the Mason Table and Tinkering Table are not in the sources, so check the in-game recipe viewer for those.[1][3]

Tools made from the tables
Several tools are crafted from a table plus one extra item. The Chisel and the Saw have recipes the pack changed. The Alchemy Book and the Multimeter use the mod's own recipes. I can't confirm from the sources what each tool does once you have it.[3]

Create compatibility in this pack
The pack adds Create cutting recipes for Chipped wood blocks. Cutting a reinforced log gives you its stripped version plus Tree Bark, and the pack has the same kind of recipe for the carved logs. Cutting the nailed variants of a wood gives 6 of the matching nailed planks.[3]

Reinforced logs of the other woods get the same treatment. The recipe dump counts 163 pack cutting recipes that make Chipped and Farmer's Delight items, most of them not written out there.[3]
The pack also has sandpaper polishing recipes, which turn Crying Obsidian into Polished Crying Obsidian and Mud Bricks into Polished Mud Bricks.[3]

How do you progress through Chipped?
3 parts
Chipped has no tier ladder that you unlock step by step. What the pack's recipes show is a simple flow: you craft a themed workbench first, then use that workbench as an ingredient for a matching tool or item. This is the order I'd follow.[3]
Unverified The sources here do not show any quest-book placement for Chipped, so the order below comes from the recipes alone and is a suggested order, not an official progression.
The workbenches
The pack has changed several of the workbench recipes, so don't rely on what you remember from the mod's defaults. The changed ones are the Carpenters Table, Glassblower, Mason Table and Tinkering Table. The Alchemy Bench, Botanist Workbench and Loom Table use the mod's own recipes. The exact recipes are shown below.[3]

Tools made from the workbenches
Each of these items takes a workbench as an ingredient, and they are all shapeless recipes. The pack changed the Chisel (from the Mason Table) and the Saw (from the Carpenters Table). The rest are unchanged mod recipes.[3]
- Chisel comes from the Mason Table. The pack changed this recipe.[3]
- Saw comes from the Carpenters Table. The pack changed this recipe.[3]
- Multimeter comes from the Tinkering Table.[3]
- Needles come from the Loom Table.[3]
- Watering Can comes from the Botanist Workbench.[3]
- Alchemy Book comes from the Alchemy Bench.[3]
Pack-added extras
The pack adds a few recipes on top of the mod's own. Create's sandpaper polishing turns Crying Obsidian into Polished Crying Obsidian, and Mud Bricks into Polished Mud Bricks.[3]

The pack also adds Create cutting recipes that turn Chipped log and stem variants into their stripped versions, such as Carved Stripped Oak Log and Edged Stripped Oak Log. Each of these recipes gives tree bark as an extra output. They cover oak, spruce, birch, jungle, acacia, dark oak, mangrove and cherry logs, plus crimson and warped stems.[3]
How does Chipped work with other mods?
2 parts
Chipped is a building mod, and in this pack its link to other mods shows up in recipes. The clearest one is a set of Create cutting recipes that also hand you Tree Bark from Farmer's Delight.[1][3]
Create cutting and Tree Bark
The pack adds a large set of Create cutting recipes for Chipped's log and stem blocks. Each one outputs the stripped version of a Chipped block, plus a Tree Bark from Farmer's Delight. So you get the stripped block and some bark from the same cut.[3]
The recipe ids name the conversion, for example a carved acacia log to a carved stripped acacia log, and the dump marks every one of them as added by the pack.[3]
Cutting (create)
Recipe id: create:cutting/runtime_generated/compat/chipped/carved_acacia_log_to_carved_stripped_acacia_log
One example of the pattern. The other Chipped variants use the same kind of recipe and output Tree Bark too.
Which Chipped blocks are covered
The recipe data covers many Chipped styles across the vanilla wood types. A few examples are Carved Stripped Oak Log, Chipped Stripped Birch Log, Edged Stripped Spruce Log and Chiseled Stripped Mangrove Log. The Nether stems are included too, for example Carved Stripped Crimson Stem and Carved Stripped Warped Stem.[3]
- Carved, Chipped, Edged and the D, F, I and K Sign styles each have a stripped result for acacia, birch, cherry, crimson, dark oak, jungle, mangrove, oak, spruce and warped.[3]
- Chiseled has a stripped result only for mangrove in the recipe data, Chiseled Stripped Mangrove Log.[3]
- Knotted has stripped results for acacia, birch, cherry and crimson in the data available here, for example Knotted Stripped Crimson Stem.[3]
What changed in Chipped between versions?
Chipped has been part of FTB Skies 2 since version 1.0.1 or earlier, and FTB Skies 2 1.10.2 ships Chipped 4.0.2 (the NeoForge 1.21.1 build).[4]
The pack changelogs don't have any entries for this mod, so there is no pack-specific history to share. What is available is the mod's own changelog for the version you are playing, 4.0.2:[4][5]
- A bug with crafting was fixed.[5]
- A new JEI feature was added.[5]
- Automatic REI grouping was added.[5]
I don't have changelogs for earlier Chipped versions, so I can't tell you what changed in the mod between pack releases.[4][5]
