What is Applied Flux?
3 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 4.5 guide
Applied Flux adds energy storage to your ME network. Instead of keeping FE in separate batteries, you store it in dedicated cells on the network and manage it with the same AE tools you already use. The pack includes Applied Flux 1.21-2.1.3-neoforge.[1][2][3]
What it does
The main attraction is the ME FE Storage Cell, the primary way to store power with this mod. Capacity works in bytes, like item and fluid cells. By default, every byte holds 1,048,576 FE. The biggest cell, 256M ME FE Storage Cell, holds 281,474,976,710,656 FE at default settings. That matches the project page's claim of over 200 trillion FE. The capacity per byte can be changed in the Appflux config, and the sources don't say whether the pack changed it.[1][4]
Your terminals show the stored energy as a green fluid. It isn't a real fluid and buckets won't work on it. You can fill or drain it with any energy container, such as batteries or electric tools.[5]
To get energy out of the network and into machines, use the Flux Accessor. By default it has no I/O limits, though that can be changed in the Appflux config. It has a fast mode, which outputs every tick and may cause lag if you lean on it heavily, and a normal mode, which scales output to the target's stored energy and avoids lag.[6]
Who it's for
This mod is for players who already run an ME network and want to bring their power system into it. Everything is built around the network: cells for storage, the accessor for output, and terminals for charging and draining items. Several crafting materials support this. Energy Processor is needed by all energy devices to route energy. Insulating Resin keeps stored energy from leaking and is required for ME FE Cell Housing. Redstone Crystal can store a large amount of energy while taking up very little space.[1][3][4][7][8][9]
If you want to carry power with you, portable FE cells are a quarter the size of the normal FE cells and can automatically charge items in your inventory.[10]
Where it fits in progression
Unverified This mod is not on the ATM Star path, and no quests in this pack involve it. The sources don't say when in the pack's progression you're meant to start using it.
How do you get started with Applied Flux?
6 parts
Applied Flux lets you store FE inside your ME network using special cells, and then get it back out with the Flux Accessor. This is the order I would build things in, and each step feeds the next.[1][11][12]
Start with Redstone Crystal
Plain redstone is too loose to put in a cell, so it gets crystallized first. Redstone Crystal can store a large amount of energy while taking up very little space.[13]
This recipe gives 2 Redstone Crystal.
There are other routes too. The Extended AE crystal assembler makes 8 per craft, and the pack adds its own crafting recipe that gives 6.[14]
Charge it
Charged Redstone Crystal comes from an Applied Energistics 2 charger recipe. The pack also adds charger and energizer recipes for Energized Power, so you can charge it there if you prefer.[14]
The standard charger recipe for Charged Redstone Crystal.
The Energy Processor
The Energy Processor routes energy in your ME system, and all energy devices need it. It goes together with the Inscriber Energy Press and the Printed Energy Circuit, and the processor, the press and the printed circuit each have an inscriber recipe. The press can also be made in a charger.[14][15]
The press for the inscriber.
The printed circuit.
The finished Energy Processor.
If you already run Extended AE, its circuit cutter makes 9 Printed Energy Circuits per craft, and its crystal assembler makes 4 Energy Processors per craft.[14]
Insulating Resin and the cell housing
Insulating Resin stops stored energy from leaking, and it is the necessary material for ME FE Cell Housing. There is also a Harden Insulating Resin, which has smelting and blasting recipes.[14][16]

How does Applied Flux work?
5 parts
Applied Flux lets your ME network store energy. FE goes into special cells, and a few extra devices move it in and out. Here is how the pieces fit together in this pack.[1][11]
FE storage cells
The ME FE Storage Cell is the main way to store power with Applied Flux. Like the item and fluid cells from Applied Energistics 2, capacity is measured in bytes. Every byte holds 1,048,576 FE by default, and the pack leaves flux_cell.amount at that same value of 1,048,576.[17][18]
That makes the 1k ME FE Storage Cell hold 1,073,741,824 FE, and the biggest one, the 256M ME FE Storage Cell, hold 281,474,976,710,656 FE. The cells step up through 1k, 4k, 16k, 64k, 256k, 1M, 4M, 16M, 64M and 256M.[17][19]
Each cell tier has a matching storage component, such as the 1k ME Energy Storage Component and the 16M ME Energy Storage Component. There is also an ME FE Cell Housing. Insulating Resin, which stops stored energy from leaking, is needed to make that housing.[16][17][19]

Harden Insulating Resin has both a smelting recipe and a blasting recipe.[14][16]
Smelting is one way to get Harden Insulating Resin. Blasting has its own recipe.
Portable cells
Every FE cell tier also has a portable version. Portable FE cells are a quarter of the size of the normal FE cells. You can install an upgrade in them so they automatically charge the items in your inventory.[21]
Energy Processors and materials
The Energy Processor manages energy flow in an ME system, and every energy device needs one to route energy. It has an inscriber recipe, and the related Printed Energy Circuit and Inscriber Energy Press items are part of that chain.[14][15]
The inscriber recipe for the Energy Processor.
The Energy Processor is also made in the Extended AE crystal assembler, which gives 4 per craft. A circuit cutter makes 9 Printed Energy Circuits per craft. The press has several routes: the inscriber, the AE2 charger, and Energized Power machines. The pack added the AE2 charger and Energized Power charger and energizer routes itself.[14]
Redstone is a good way to store energy but too loose to put in a cell. Combined with fluix crystal and glowstone, a redstone block is crystallized into Redstone Crystal, which stores a lot of energy in very little space. A transform recipe gives 2 per craft.[13][14]
Crystallizing redstone into Redstone Crystals.
A Redstone Crystal can be charged into a Charged Redstone Crystal, and the charged crystals compress into a Charged Redstone Crystal Block. The pack adds charger and energizer recipes for the charged crystal, using AE2's charger and Energized Power machines.[13][14]
Flux Accessor and Induction Card
The Flux Accessor inputs and outputs energy stored in your ME network. A cable-part version, the Flux Accessor, also exists. The block's tooltip says it pulls energy from the network and needs an external cable to push energy out.[12][19]
The accessor has an IO mode setting with these choices: Input only, Output only, and Input & Output. It also has a Fast Mode toggle.[19]
- Fast mode outputs energy every tick, which may cause lag if it is heavily used.[12]
- Normal mode outputs energy depending on the target's stored energy, which won't cause lag issues.[12]
The energy here is the FE in your FE Storage Cells, not the energy in AE2's Energy Cells. Accessors have no I/O limit by default. In this pack flux_accessor.io_limit is 0, which means no limit, matching the mod default.[12][18]
The Induction Card is described as allowing AE devices to accept or send energy.[19]
misc.enable, which lets an ME Import Bus import energy like items and fluids, is also false in this pack. third_party_support.enable_mi, the MI-EU support option, is true.[18]
Handling energy in terminals
Terminals show the stored energy as a green fluid. It isn't a real fluid, so you can't fill it with buckets. To fill or drain it, use an energy container such as a battery or an electric tool.[20]
How do you progress through Applied Flux?
6 parts
Applied Flux is about storing FE inside your ME network. The progression is one ladder of cell tiers, from 1k up to 256M, plus a handful of materials you need to climb it. This section follows the in-pack recipes and the mod's own in-game guide.[14][17]
First: Redstone crystals
Everything starts with Redstone Crystal. The in-game guide says plain redstone is too loose to put in a cell. A redstone block is crystallized together with fluix crystal and glowstone to make crystals that hold a lot of energy in very little space.[13]
The mod's own route to Redstone Crystal gives 2 per craft.
The pack gives you other routes too. Extended AE has a crystal assembler recipe that makes 8 crystals at a time, and the pack adds its own crafting recipe that makes 6 crystals. AdvancedAE and Productive Bees also have recipes that produce them.[14]
Next you charge them into Charged Redstone Crystal. The mod uses an AE2 charger recipe, and the pack adds charger and energizer conversions for both the AE2 charger and Energized Power. Charged crystals compress into a Charged Redstone Crystal Block, which you can also break back down into 9 crystals.[14]
The basic AE2 charger recipe for Charged Redstone Crystal.
Next: Energy Processor and resin
The Energy Processor is the circuit of this mod. The guide says all energy devices need one to route energy. Its chain runs through the AE2 inscriber: first the Inscriber Energy Press, then the Printed Energy Circuit, then the processor itself. The pack also adds extra ways to make the press through the AE2 charger and Energized Power.[14][15]
The inscriber recipe for the Energy Press.
The inscriber recipe for the Printed Energy Circuit.
The inscriber recipe for the finished Energy Processor.
If you have Extended AE, it offers shortcuts: an assembler recipe that makes 4 Energy Processors at once, and a circuit cutter recipe that makes 9 Printed Energy Circuits.[14]
Insulating Resin is the other key material, because it stops stored energy from leaking and is needed for the cell housing. It can be hardened in a furnace or a blast furnace into Harden Insulating Resin.[14][16]

Then: Housing, components and cells
With the materials ready, you make an ME FE Cell Housing and a storage component, then put them together into a cell. Each tier has its own component recipe and its own cell recipe.[14][17]

The tiers go 1k, 4k, 16k, 64k, 256k, 1M, 4M, 16M, 64M and 256M. Every tier has a component such as 256M ME Energy Storage Component and a cell such as 256M ME FE Storage Cell. There is also a shapeless assemble recipe for each cell tier.[14][17]
Capacity by tier
Cell capacity is based on bytes, like AE2 item and fluid cells. Each byte holds 1,048,576 FE by default, and that can be changed in the Applied Flux config. In the guide's table the default capacities run from 1,073,741,824 FE at the small end to 281,474,976,710,656 FE at the top.[17]
Portable cells
Every tier also has a portable version, such as 1k Portable FE Cell. Portable FE cells are a quarter of the size of the normal FE cells.[14][21]
Getting energy out: Flux Accessor
The Flux Accessor inputs and outputs the energy stored in your ME network. It has no I/O limit by default, and that can be changed in the Appflux config. It has a fast mode, which outputs every tick and may cause lag if used heavily, and a normal mode, which outputs depending on the target's stored energy and won't cause lag.[12]

The Induction Card sits in the same group of the guide, and it has its own recipe as well.[14][23]
How does Applied Flux work with other mods?
1 part
Applied Flux is an add-on for Applied Energistics 2, so nearly everything it does happens inside an ME network. The only in-pack recipes that use items from both mods are the portable cell disassembly recipes. They use AE2's storage cell disassembly recipe type and there is one for every portable cell size, from 1k to 256M.[14]

Storage Cell Disassembly (ae2)
Recipe id: appflux:disassembler/fe_1m_portable_cell
The 1M size. Compare it with the 1k one: the two use different AE2 energy cells.
The other sizes follow the same pattern, and their recipe ids are in the Applied Flux recipe list.[14]
How it fits with AE2 mechanics
Flux cells size their capacity in bytes, just like AE2's item and fluid storage cells. That should feel familiar if you already build AE2 storage.[17]
In ME terminals, stored energy is displayed as a green fluid. It isn't a real fluid, so buckets won't work on it. You fill or drain it with an energy container such as a battery or an electric tool.[20]
Which Applied Flux config options matter?
3 parts
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide
Applied Flux keeps its settings in a single common config file, and there are only a handful of options. Here is exactly how this pack sets them.[24]
Switches the pack has turned off
- flux_accessor.enable is set to false. This option controls whether the Flux Accessor is allowed to charge your ME network with stored FE, so in this pack that behavior is switched off.[24]
- misc.enable is set to false. It controls whether the ME Import Bus can import energy the way it imports items and fluids, so this pack has that switched off too.[24]
Switch that is on
- third_party_support.enable_mi is set to true. This turns on the MI-EU support.[24]
Values that match the mod default
Two numeric options are listed in the pack file along with their mod defaults, and in both cases the pack keeps the default.[24]
- flux_cell.amount is 1,048,576, the same as the mod default. It sets how much FE is stored per byte in the flux cells.[24]
- flux_accessor.io_limit is 0, also the mod default. A value of 0 means no limitation on the Flux Accessor's I/O. If you ever change it, the accepted range is 0 to 2,147,483,647.[24]
Unverified The pack file does not show mod defaults for the three on/off options, so I can't tell you whether the pack changed them from the mod's defaults.
