What is AllTheOres?
This pack ships AllTheOres version 4.0.4 (the file is alltheores-4.0.4.jar). It has been part of the pack since the earliest versions: the mod list shows it as first included in 0.0.1 or earlier.[1]
How do you get started with AllTheOres?
5 parts
AllTheOres adds a big set of ores, raw materials, dusts, ingots, alloys and storage blocks, and the pack wires them into several machine mods. I'll walk you through aluminum as the worked example, because it shows the whole chain: ore, ingot, gear, then alloys. The sources for this section don't cover how ore generates or what the best depth is, so I'm sticking to the recipes.[2][3]
Step 1: Ore hammers
The pack has crafting-grid recipes for the Copper Ore Hammer and the Bronze Ore Hammer. Both are shaped recipes straight from the mod, so you can make them without any machine.[2]

Step 2: Smelt your first ingots
Aluminum ore comes in several variants: plain, deepslate, Nether, End and an "Other" version. You can turn aluminum ore into an Aluminum Ingot in either a furnace or a blast furnace, and aluminum dust also smelts into an ingot.[2][3]

Step 3: Make a gear
Once you have ingots, you can craft an Aluminum Gear in the crafting grid. If you set up Productive Metalworks, it also has a casting recipe for the same gear.[2]

Step 4: Alloys
The Ender IO alloy smelter recipes in the pack make 4 Brass Ingots, 4 Bronze Ingots or 2 Constantan Ingots per craft. Oritech also has foundry recipes for the same three alloys.[2]

Machines for later
- Ender IO SAG Mill recipes turn aluminum ore into Raw Aluminum plus cobblestone, and raw aluminum into Aluminum Dust plus Zinc Dust.[2]
- Oritech has a bedrock extractor recipe that produces raw aluminum.[2]
- Theurgy incubation recipes added by the pack produce Sulfur Dust and Salt Dust.[2]
How does AllTheOres work?
5 parts
The sources for AllTheOres show ores, metals and recipes, not machines or multiblocks of its own. The actual processing happens in other mods' machines, which have recipes for AllTheOres items. This section covers how the ores generate and which machines turn them into dusts, ingots, gears and blocks.[2]
How the ores generate
Each ore has its own ore feature that lists what it replaces. In stone it places the plain ore, in deepslate the deepslate version, in netherrack the Nether version and in end stone the End version. There is also an "Other" version that replaces blocks in the AllTheModium ancient stone tag.[4][5][6]
Iridium, lead, nickel, osmium, platinum, silver, tin, uranium and zinc also scatter their raw blocks inside the same feature. The chance per block is 0.005 in stone, 0.03 in deepslate, 0.01 in netherrack and 0.01 in end stone. Cinnabar's feature has no raw block entries.[5][6][7][8][9][10][11][12][13]
Vein size differs per ore:[4]
- Size 6: cinnabar.[4]
- Size 6: iridium.[5]
- Size 6: nickel.[7]
- Size 6: platinum.[9]
- Size 12: lead.[6]
- Size 16: osmium.[8]
- Size 16: silver.[10]
- Size 16: zinc.[13]
- Size 18: tin.[11]
- Size 18: uranium.[12]
Cinnabar is placed 2 times per chunk, spread in a square, at heights from -64 to 228 with a trapezoid distribution. Aluminum is added to End biomes in the underground ores step.[14][15]
Unverified Which other biomes and dimensions each ore spawns in, and the placement counts and heights for the rest of the ores, are set in the mod's biome modifier and placed feature data files. The sources here do not show those files, and the pack has no config files for this mod.
Processing: which machines do the work
AllTheOres items are made by recipe types from several mods. The recipe dump counts them like this:[2]
- Furnace and blast furnace: 66 smelting and 66 blasting recipes that make AllTheOres items.[2]
- Ender IO SAG milling: 36 recipes that make AllTheOres items, plus 15 more that also output vanilla items.[2]
- Energized Power pulverizer: 57 recipes.[2]
- Oritech: 34 pulverizer recipes and 27 fragment forge recipes.[2]
- Productive Metalworks casting: 107 item casting recipes (gears and similar) and 19 block casting recipes.[2]
- Hand crafting: 132 shaped and 163 shapeless recipes.[2]
Aluminum as a worked example
Aluminum has the most recipes written out in the dump, so it shows the options well. Plain smelting turns it into Aluminum Ingot, and a blasting recipe does the same.[2]
A vanilla smelting recipe that makes an Aluminum Ingot.
The blasting version, also making an Aluminum Ingot.
For dust, several machines have a recipe that makes Aluminum Dust: the Energized Power pulverizer, the Oritech pulverizer, the Oritech fragment forge and Ender IO's SAG mill.[2]
Pulverizer (energizedpower)
Recipe id: alltheores:energized_power/pulverizer/aluminum/ore

Alloys, casting and storage
Brass Ingot can be made in two machines. Ender IO's alloy smelter recipe makes 4 ingots at a time, and Oritech's foundry has its own brass alloy recipe.[2]

How do you progress through AllTheOres?
6 parts
Unverified The sources here do not show any quest-book chapter for this mod's ores or alloys, so where the pack's quest book places them is not covered. This section follows the in-pack recipes and ore generation data instead.
Finding the ores
The generation data shows vein size settings of 6 for cinnabar, iridium and nickel, 12 for lead and 16 for osmium. Each of these ores has a variant for stone, deepslate, netherrack, end stone and the allthemodium ancient stone, so you can find them in several dimensions.[4][5][6][7][8]
Iridium, lead, nickel and osmium also get chances to turn stone into a raw ore block: 0.005 in stone, 0.03 in deepslate, 0.01 in netherrack and 0.01 in end stone. Cinnabar has no raw block entries.[4][5][6][7][8]
Stage 1: hand tools and the furnace
Your first AllTheOres crafts are the Copper Ore Hammer and the Bronze Ore Hammer. Both are ordinary shaped crafting recipes.[2]

Aluminum shows how the basic route works. Furnace and blast furnace recipes both turn the dust, ore, raw and raw block forms into Aluminum Ingot or Aluminum Block. Crafting recipes then cover nuggets to ingots, ingots to blocks and the Aluminum Gear.[2]

Stage 2: machine processing
Once you have machines, several mods grind these metals into dust. Energized Power pulverizer recipes make Aluminum Dust from the ingot, ore, raw and raw block forms. Oritech pulverizer recipes make aluminum, cinnabar, diamond and fluorite dusts.[2]
Ender IO SAG mill recipes also give you bonus outputs. The aluminum raw recipe makes Aluminum Dust and Zinc Dust, while the ore recipes for aluminum, cinnabar, fluorite and iridium each also output cobblestone.[2]
Oritech fragment forge recipes pair raws together. They give Raw Aluminum with raw iron, Raw Silver with raw copper, Raw Tin with raw copper, and Raw Lead with raw gold. Raw Iridium and Raw Osmium each come out with Raw Nickel.[2]
The pack also adds two Theurgy incubation recipes of its own. One makes Sulfur Dust and the other makes Salt Dust.[2]
Stage 3: alloys
Ender IO alloy smelting has 9 recipes for this mod. Brass and bronze each make 4 ingots per craft, and constantan and electrum each make 2.[2]

Oritech's foundry offers another route to brass, bronze, constantan and Invar Ingot.[2]
Stage 4: bedrock and late-game sources
Oritech's bedrock extractor recipes give Raw Aluminum, Raw Iridium, Raw Lead and Raw Osmium without mining veins. Oritech refinery recipes then turn the raw sheol for those same four metals into dust, with lava as a second output.[2]
Casting and storage
Productive Metalworks has 107 casting recipes for this mod's items and 19 block casting recipes. They include gears and storage blocks for aluminum, brass, bronze and constantan. AllTheCompressed decompress recipes give back 9 blocks each for aluminum, brass, bronze, cinnabar and constantan.[2]

How does AllTheOres work with other mods?
2 parts
AllTheOres connects to Oritech and AllTheModium in this pack, as far as the sources show. No quests in the pack involve AllTheOres, so everything below comes from recipes and data files.[2][16]
Oritech: the Fragment Forge
Oritech has compat recipes for its Fragment Forge that give you AllTheOres raw materials. Each recipe has no item inputs and produces an AllTheOres raw ore plus Raw Nickel.[2]
Fragment Forge (oritech)
Recipe id: oritech:compat/ato/fragment_forge/ore/iridium
Gives you Raw Iridium together with Raw Nickel.
Fragment Forge (oritech)
Recipe id: oritech:compat/ato/fragment_forge/ore/osmium
Gives you Raw Osmium together with Raw Nickel.
AllTheModium: ancient stone
AllTheOres has a block tag for ancient stone that adds the AllTheModium ancient stone block. It only applies when AllTheModium is loaded, and the entry is not required.[16]
The pack's generated ore features also target the ancient stone tag from AllTheModium. Cinnabar, iridium and lead each have a separate ore variant that replaces blocks in that tag. Iridium and lead also place their raw ore blocks in ancient stone.[4][5][6]
