What is Productive Metalworks?
Same as in the All the Mods 11 0.8.0-beta guide
Productive Metalworks is included in this pack at version 26.1.2-1.17.1. It comes with its own in-game guide book, and that book is the best place to learn how the mod works here.[1][2]
The guide opens with an introduction category and then splits into categories for casting, fluids and the foundry. There is also a separate category for Silent Gear metalworking.[3][4][5][6][7]
Inside those categories you will find individual pages on melting, alloying, heat, casting, casts, upgrades, size limits and hazards, plus a Silent Gear page. The guide lists these topics in the order you would meet them, so reading it top to bottom is a good way to get started.[8][9][10][11][12][13][14][15][16]
Unverified The sources here show no quests in this pack that involve the mod, and they do not place it on the ATM Star path, so there is no quest chapter or group to point you to. No platform description of the mod was available either, so the in-game guide is the place to check how each system works.
How do you get started with Productive Metalworks?
4 parts
Productive Metalworks adds a foundry setup for melting, alloying and casting metals. The sources I have for this pack show the recipes, so this page walks through them in a sensible order: fire bricks, foundry parts, casts, then melting and alloying.[17][18]
Step one: make Fire Brick
Fire Brick is the first item to look at, because the pack gives it both a smelting recipe and a blasting recipe. Either one works.[17]
The furnace route to Fire Brick.
The blast furnace route to the same item.
Step two: build with fire bricks and foundry parts
The foundry blocks come in many colours. Black is an easy one to follow, since it has a normal crafting recipe for each part. One craft gives you 4 Black Fire Bricks. The pack also has dye-based recipes for fire bricks, including ones that make 8 at a time.[17][18]

Each of these parts also has a shapeless dye recipe, so you can recolour a build. Capacitors are different: the pack makes them with casting recipes as well as dye recipes, starting with Black Foundry Capacitor.[17]
Block Casting (productivemetalworks)
Recipe id: productivemetalworks:casting/black_foundry_capacitor
A block casting recipe, not a crafting table one.
Step three: get your casts
The mod also adds a Casting Table and a Casting Basin. The pack has casting recipes for the shape casts you will use most: Ingot Cast, Nugget Cast, Plate Cast, Rod Cast, Gear Cast and Gem Cast. Start with the ingot cast.[17][18]

Step four: melt metals and alloy them
Melting turns items into molten metal. With Oritech in the pack, there are melting recipes for copper, gold, iron, nickel and platinum gems, and each one makes 90 of its molten metal, for example Molten Copper.[17]
Alloying combines molten metals into new ones. The Molten Bronze alloying recipe gives 4 Molten Bronze, and the Molten Brass recipe also gives 4. The Molten Invar recipe gives 3. The Molten Constantan and Molten Electrum recipes give 2 each.[17]
Fluid Alloying (productivemetalworks)

An alloying recipe that makes 4 Molten Bronze.
How does Productive Metalworks work?
6 parts
Productive Metalworks is a foundry mod: you melt items into molten fluids, combine fluids into alloys, then cast them back into solid items. The recipe types in the pack mirror that flow: item melting, fluid alloying, item casting and block casting. This section covers what the sources actually confirm about how those systems fit together.[17]
Blocks you work with
- The Casting Table and Casting Basin are the casting blocks.[18][19][20]
- The foundry itself is built from a controller, capacitor, drain, tank and window, plus fire bricks. Each of these exists in many dye colours, for example the Black Foundry Controller and the Black Foundry Capacitor.[18]
- The heating coils are the Liquid Heating Coil, the Powered Heating Coil and the High Powered Heating Coil.[18]
- When you break a foundry tank, the item keeps the fluid it was holding, because its loot table copies the fluid stack from the block.[21][22][23][24]
Melting
Melting is the biggest recipe group by far: 273 recipes of the item melting type. Honeycomb and honeycomb blocks melt into Honey and Molten Wax, and gems from Oritech melt into Molten Copper, Molten Gold and Molten Iron. The honeycomb recipe is shown below.[17]
Item Melting (productivemetalworks)
Recipe id: productivemetalworks:melting/honeycomb
Heat sources
The mod's data maps give each heat source a consumption, a speed and a temperature value. The sources here do not explain how each value is applied, so only the numbers are listed.[26][27]
- Powered Heating Coil: consumption 30.0, speed 0.5, temperature 1500.[26]
- High Powered Heating Coil: consumption 40.0, speed 1.0, temperature 3000.[26]
- Lava as a fuel fluid: consumption 0.2, speed 0.5, temperature 1500.[27]
- Soul lava from AllTheModium as a fuel fluid: consumption 0.1, speed 1.0, temperature 3000. This entry only applies when AllTheModium is loaded.[27]
Alloying
There are 14 fluid alloying recipes, which combine molten fluids into new ones. Three of them are shown below.[17]
Fluid Alloying (productivemetalworks)
Recipe id: productivemetalworks:alloying/molten_brass
Fluid alloying recipe whose output is listed as 4 Molten Brass.
Fluid Alloying (productivemetalworks)
Recipe id: productivemetalworks:alloying/molten_bronze
Output is listed as 4 Molten Bronze.
Fluid Alloying (productivemetalworks)
Recipe id: productivemetalworks:alloying/molten_constantan
Output is listed as 2 Molten Constantan.
Casting
Casting comes in two flavours. Item casting (10 recipes) makes items such as the Gear Cast and Gem Cast. Block casting (18 recipes) makes blocks such as the heating coil and the foundry capacitors.[17]
Item Casting (productivemetalworks)
Recipe id: productivemetalworks:casting/cast/gear

Block Casting (productivemetalworks)
Recipe id: productivemetalworks:casting/blue_foundry_capacitor

Fire bricks
The Fire Brick can be made by either smelting or blasting. The coloured fire brick blocks, like Black Fire Bricks, have crafting recipes, including ones that use dye.[17]
The mod also ships an in-game guide book with pages on alloying, casting, casts, hazards, heat, melting, size and upgrades. The sources here do not include their text, so check those pages in game for the details.[8][9][10][11][12][13][15][16]
Unverified How many fluid units an item or ingot is worth is set in the mod's fluid unit data map (unit_map.json), and the sources here do not show its contents. The foundry's size limits and the exact build layout are not shown in the sources here either.
How do you progress through Productive Metalworks?
4 parts
There are no quests to follow for Productive Metalworks in this pack, so the progression below comes from the in-pack recipes. You melt items into molten fluids, alloy those fluids, then cast them. The recipe dump counts 273 melting recipes that make 42 different results, 14 alloying recipes and 18 block-casting recipes.[17]
Stage 1: Fire bricks and casting gear
Start with the Fire Brick. It has both a smelting recipe and a blasting recipe, so a furnace or a blast furnace will do.[17]
The furnace route to a Fire Brick.
Then craft the two casting blocks: the Casting Table and the Casting Basin. Both are plain crafting recipes.[17]

Stage 2: Melting
Melting turns items into fluids. These are some of the amounts the in-pack recipes give:[17]
- The Oritech compat recipes melt copper, gold, iron, nickel and platinum gems into 90 of the matching molten fluid each, for example Molten Copper and Molten Platinum. This needs Oritech.[17]
- Chiseled copper melts into 200 Molten Copper.[17]
- A clock melts into 360 Molten Gold and 100 Molten Redstone. A compass gives 360 Molten Iron and 100 Molten Redstone.[17]
- Ancient debris melts into 200 Molten Ancient Debris.[17]
- A blaze rod gives 400 Molten Blaze and blaze powder gives 100.[17]
- Coals melt into 100 Molten Carbon.[17]
- A honeycomb gives 100 Honey and 50 Molten Wax. A honeycomb block gives 400 Honey and 200 Molten Wax. The Honey comes from Productive Bees.[17]
Stage 3: Alloying
Alloying combines molten fluids into new ones. Each recipe makes the amount shown here:[17]
- 4 Molten Brass and 4 Molten Bronze.[17]
- 2 Molten Constantan, 2 Molten Electrum and 2 Molten Obsidian.[17]
- 3 Molten Invar.[17]
- 9 Molten Netherite and 9 Molten Refined Glowstone.[17]
- 36 Molten Enderium and 36 Molten Lumium.[17]
- Molten Magma Cream also has an alloying recipe.[17]
Fluid Alloying (productivemetalworks)
Recipe id: productivemetalworks:alloying/molten_netherite

Stage 4: Casts and the foundry
Casts set the shape of what you pour. The pack has casting recipes for the Ingot Cast, Nugget Cast, Gem Cast, Plate Cast, Rod Cast and Gear Cast. There are also casting recipes for the Meat Ingot, Meat Nugget and Shiny Meat Ingot.[17]
Item Casting (productivemetalworks)
Recipe id: productivemetalworks:casting/cast/ingot
The foundry parts come in colours. The Black set has a controller, drain, tank and window, each with a normal crafting recipe and a dye recipe. The Blue set has dye recipes for the controller, drain and tank. Foundry capacitors are block-casting recipes, with one for each of the colours listed, such as Black Foundry Capacitor and Lime Foundry Capacitor. Fire bricks also come in colours: Black Fire Bricks can be crafted 4 at a time, or 8 at a time from dye.[17]

How does Productive Metalworks work with other mods?
2 parts
The sources I have for Productive Metalworks show links to Productive Bees and AllTheModium. No quests in this pack involve the mod, so these links come from recipes and the mod's own data files.[17][27]
Melting honeycomb into Honey
Melting a honeycomb gives you 100 Honey from Productive Bees, plus 50 Molten Wax. Melting a honeycomb block gives 400 Honey and 200 Molten Wax.[17]
Item Melting (productivemetalworks)
Recipe id: productivemetalworks:melting/honeycomb
Melting a honeycomb gives Honey and Molten Wax.
Item Melting (productivemetalworks)
Recipe id: productivemetalworks:melting/honeycomb_block
The block version gives 400 Honey and 200 Molten Wax.
Soul Lava as a fuel
The mod's fuel data includes a Soul Lava entry from AllTheModium. It only applies when AllTheModium is loaded, which is the case in this pack. It is listed with a temperature of 3000, a speed of 1.0 and a consumption of 0.1.[27]
Plain lava is listed beside it with a temperature of 1500, a speed of 0.5 and a consumption of 0.2. So the data lists Soul Lava as the hotter fuel, with the higher speed and the lower consumption.[27]
