What is Theurgy?
3 parts
Theurgy is an open-source magic mod built around classical alchemy. You use it to replicate and transmute matter and to create magical artifacts. This pack includes Theurgy 1.53.0.[1][2]
What makes it different
Theurgy skips the usual "4 Elements" of Air, Water, Fire and Earth. It works with Sulfur, Salt and Mercury, and you handle them through a group of processes called Spagyrics.[1]
The goal is a balanced alchemy experience. The mod's authors describe it as not as overpowered as Equivalent Exchange, but maybe more practicable than the legendary Thaumcraft.[1]
Who it is for
It suits you if you like magic mods that make you learn a system step by step, and you want matter replication and transmutation without a shortcut to everything. The mod is a take on classical alchemy, so expect to work through its processes rather than just crafting one item.[1]
Where to start
The in-game documentation is provided by Modonomicon, a mod for Thaumonomicon-style in-game books. Your guide is The Hermetica, and the mod's own advice is to follow the steps in that book on your way to becoming a master alchemist.[1]
Unverified The sources I was given do not confirm how The Hermetica is crafted in this pack, so check the in-game recipe viewer instead of relying on the mod's default. This site does hold All the Mods 10's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.
Unverified The sources I was given do not show where Theurgy fits in this pack's progression, and they do not show any quest or ATM Star path involvement. Treat its placement as unconfirmed.
How do you get started with Theurgy?
5 parts
Theurgy is an alchemy mod built around three elements: Sulfur, Salt and Mercury. You pull them out of items with a group of processes called Spagyrics, and later you can recombine them. Your first goal is simple: build the apparatus that extracts each element, starting with the one that heats everything else.[1][3]
Step 1: A heat source
The Calcination Oven, Mercury Distiller, Liquefaction Cauldron and Incubator all sit on top of a heating device, and the Pyromantic Brazier is the example the in-game tooltips use. Make it first.[3]

Step 2: Salt with the Calcination Oven
The Calcination Oven extracts Alchemical Salt from items. Salt is the "body" or physical matter of an object. Place the oven on the brazier, then right-click it with ingredients.[3][4]

Salt comes in several kinds, depending on what you burn. Logs, leaves, saplings and crops give Alchemical Salt Plant. Ores, ingots, gems and raw materials give Alchemical Salt Mineral. Cobblestone, clay, blackstone and blue ice give Alchemical Salt Strata.[4]
Step 3: Mercury with the Distiller
The Mercury Distiller extracts Alchemical Mercury, which represents the "energy" of an object. Mercury can be an energy source or a catalyst. It also goes on top of a heating device, and you right-click it with ingredients.[3][4]

Step 4: Sulfur with the Liquefaction Cauldron
The Liquefaction Cauldron extracts Alchemical Sulfur using a Solvent. Sulfur is the "idea" or "soul" of an object, and it is the key to replication and transmutation. Like the other apparatus, it sits on a heating device.[3][4]

Last step: Put it back together
The Incubator recombines Sulfur, Salt and Mercury into items. It needs a vessel for each of the three element types, placed horizontally next to it, and it also sits on a heating device. You fill each vessel by right-clicking it with the matching element.[3]

How does Theurgy work?
8 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide
Theurgy builds its machines around three alchemical essences: Salt, Mercury and Sulfur. Salt is the "body" of an object, Mercury is its "energy", and Sulfur is its "idea" or "soul". Each essence has its own apparatus. Heat comes from a brazier or an emitter, and the logistics blocks handle automation. The ones below are the machines the sources describe in detail.[5]
Heat: the Pyromantic Brazier
The Pyromantic Brazier is the basic heater for alchemical apparatus. You place it below the machine you want to heat. Right-click it with a fuel item to load it, or feed it with a hopper.[5]

Extracting Salt, Mercury and Sulfur
Three machines break items down into the essences. The calcination oven, the distiller and the liquefaction cauldron are each placed on top of a heating device such as the brazier, and you right-click them with ingredients to load them.[5]
- The Calcination Oven extracts Alchemical Salt from items.[5][6]
- The Mercury Distiller extracts Alchemical Mercury from items. Mercury works both as an energy source and as a catalyst.[5][6]
- The Liquefaction Cauldron extracts Alchemical Sulfur from items, and it needs a solvent to do so.[5]

Making solvent: the Sal Ammoniac setup
The solvent for the Liquefaction Cauldron is concentrated Sal Ammoniac fluid. The Sal Ammoniac Tank stores the fluid, and the Sal Ammoniac Accumulator goes on top of it. Right-click the accumulator with water buckets. The water is consumed to slowly fill the tank below. You can also add Sal Ammoniac Crystals to the accumulator to speed things up.[5]
Recombining: the Incubator
The Incubator recombines Sulfur, Salt and Mercury into items. It is a small multiblock. It sits on top of a heating device, and it needs a vessel for each of the three essences placed horizontally next to it. Right-click each vessel with the matching alchemical item to fill it. Only then can the incubator process it.[5]
- Incubator Sulfur Vessel holds Sulfur.[5][6]
- Incubator Salt Vessel holds Salt.[5][6]
- Incubator Mercury Vessel holds Mercury.[5][6]

Power: Mercury Flux
The Mercury Catalyst converts mercury from crystal form into flux form. Mercury flux is pure energy that some processes use as a power source. Right-click the catalyst with Mercury Shard to add shards. They are consumed slowly to fill its internal energy storage with flux.[5][6]

The Caloric Flux Emitter turns that flux into Caloric Flux, which is heat you can send to an apparatus remotely. Sneak-right-click the apparatus to set it as the target, then place the emitter on a flux source such as the catalyst. The emitter keeps the target heated for as long as it receives flux. The maximum range is 8 blocks. It is enabled by default, and an active redstone signal disables it, so it stops sending caloric flux to the target.[5]
The pack gives the emitter two recipes, one that uses a campfire and one that uses a lava bucket.[6]

Vats: fermentation and digestion
The Fermentation Vat is required for transmutation, which converts between types of matter, such as metals and gems. The Digestion Vat is required for exaltation, which converts between tiers of matter, such as common to rare (for example iron to gold). Both work the same way. Right-click with ingredients to load them. Then shift-right-click with an empty hand to close the vat and start processing, or open it again to stop.[5][6]

Sulfur reformation array
Sulfur replication uses a reformation array. The Source pedestal holds the Sulfur to be reformed. The Target pedestal holds the Sulfur it should become. The result appears in the Result pedestal. A Sulfuric Flux Emitter ties them together. Right-click the Source, Target and Reformation pedestals with the emitter to set them as its targets. Then place the emitter on a Mercury Flux source such as a Mercury Catalyst.[5]
Logistics and automation
Mercurial Logistics is Theurgy's own pipe-free network for moving items and fluids. To set up an extractor or inserter, right-click the target block with it to place it, then right-click it with a cable to connect it to the network. Extractors pull from a block into the network, and inserters push from the network into a block. There are separate item and fluid versions. The Mercurial Connection Node joins multiple wires. Place the node, then wire it to other nodes or other logistics blocks.[5][6]
- Mercurial Item Extractor and Mercurial Item Inserter move items.[5][6]
- Mercurial Fluid Extractor and Mercurial Fluid Inserter move fluids.[5][6]

How do you progress through Theurgy?
4 parts
Theurgy doesn't hand you a fixed ladder in this pack, so this section sticks to what the in-pack recipes show. Everything here is crafted or processed with recipes the pack actually uses.[4]
Unverified No quests in this pack involve Theurgy, and it isn't on the ATM Star quest path. I couldn't confirm any quest-guided order, so the order below is just a sensible reading of the recipes, not an official progression.
Divination rods: the clearest tiers
The only thing in the recipe data that is explicitly tiered is the divination rod line. The recipe ids run from t1 to t4, giving you the Glass Divination Rod, Iron Divination Rod, Diamond Divination Rod and Netherite Divination Rod. There is also a separate Divination Rod: Amethyst with its own recipe.[4]

Salts and the machines that make them
Alchemical salts come in plant, mineral, strata and creature versions: Alchemical Salt Plant, Alchemical Salt Mineral, Alchemical Salt Strata and Alchemical Salt Creature. The pack has calcination recipes for all of them. Plant salt can be calcined further into creature salt, and strata salt can be calcined into mineral salt, so the salt types chain into each other.[4]
The Calcination Oven is the machine for those calcination recipes, and it has an in-pack crafting recipe.[4]

The pack also gives crafting recipes for the rest of the core apparatus: the Pyromantic Brazier, Mercury Distiller, Liquefaction Cauldron, Digestion Vat, Fermentation Vat and Incubator. The incubator also uses salt, mercury and sulfur vessels: Incubator Salt Vessel, Incubator Mercury Vessel and Incubator Sulfur Vessel.[4]
Sal ammoniac
Sal Ammoniac has accumulation recipes that start from water, and a second version that also takes a Sal Ammoniac Crystal. The machine for that is the Sal Ammoniac Accumulator, with the Sal Ammoniac Tank alongside it. You can also turn a Sal Ammoniac Bucket into a crystal. The Digestion Vat and the Sulfuric Flux Emitter both need sal ammoniac gems to craft, so you'll want this running before you get to them.[4]

Mercury items and logistics
Mercury Shard and Mercury Crystal convert back and forth with shapeless recipes. The shard feeds the logistics gear: the Mercurial Wand, Mercurial Connection Node, the item and fluid extractors and inserters, and the Mercurial List Filter and Mercurial Attribute Filter. The Mercury Catalyst has its own crafting recipe too.[4]

How does Theurgy work with other mods?
The one connection I can confirm for Theurgy is its guide book. The in-game documentation, The Hermetica, is built on Modonomicon, a mod for Thaumonomicon-style in-game books. So if you're wondering how the Hermetica opens and reads like it does, that's why.[1]
Unverified I couldn't confirm any in-pack recipes that mix Theurgy items with items from other mods, or any quests in this pack that involve Theurgy. Until that's checked, treat Theurgy's machines and alchemy chain as a mostly self-contained system, and check the recipe viewer in-game for any cross-mod uses of its items. This site does hold All the Mods 10's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.
What changed in Theurgy between versions?
1 part
All the Mods 10 0.38 ships Theurgy 1.53.0. The mod was first included in All the Mods 10 0.32 or earlier. Below are the notable changes from the mod's own changelogs, newest first. Only some releases were available, so this is not a complete history.[2]
