What is Glassential Renewed?

3 parts

Glassential Renewed is a building-focused mod that adds special glass types without the overhead of a big content mod. The project page pitches it as the cool glass you see in mods like Extra Utilities, such as glass that blocks light or glass that glows, in one lightweight package.[1]

The pack includes version 3.0.0 of the mod, built for NeoForge 1.21.[2]

What it adds

  • Luminous Glass emits light, just like Glowstone.[1]
  • Redstone Glass emits a strong redstone signal, just like a Block of Redstone.[1]
  • Ghostly Glass is non-solid to all entities of any kind.[1]
  • Ethereal Glass is non-solid to players, while Reverse Ethereal Glass is only solid to players (and fluids).[1]
  • Tinted Ethereal Glass and Tinted Reverse Ethereal Glass combine the properties of vanilla Tinted Glass with their Ethereal counterparts.[1]
  • Glass doors, glass trapdoors and glass slabs, plus doors and trapdoors made of all the Glassential blocks and dyed stained glass doors and trapdoors.[1]
  • Frameless panels from all the glasses of the mod.[1]

The mod also replaces the vanilla glasses with connected-texture versions, and it supports connected textures through Fusion. The project page says Fusion has been required since version 2.1.0.[1]

Who it is for

This is a mod for builders. If you want a glowing window, a wall you can walk through, or a glass block that outputs a redstone signal, this is where you get them. It's handy for bases, hidden entrances and redstone-driven builds, and it doesn't ask you to learn a whole tech or magic system.[1]

Where it fits in progression

Unverified The sources I have don't show any quests involving this mod, and it isn't on the ATM Star path. They also don't say where the glasses unlock in progression, so treat it as a building-utility mod you can use whenever you like. Check the in-game recipes to see what each block needs. This site does hold All the Mods 10's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

How do you get started with Glassential Renewed?

3 parts

Glassential Renewed is a building mod that adds special kinds of glass, so you get the fun glass from bigger content mods without installing a huge mod. This section covers what is available. I can't confirm a crafting order from the sources I have.[1]

What you can make glass do

  • Luminous Glass emits light, just like Glowstone.[1]
  • Redstone Glass emits a strong redstone signal, just like a Block of Redstone. Its in-game tooltip says it emits a redstone signal.[1][3]
  • Ghostly Glass is non-solid to all entities of any kind. The tooltip reads "Not solid to entities".[1][3]
  • Ethereal Glass is non-solid to players. The tooltip reads "Not solid to players".[1][3]
  • Reverse Ethereal Glass is only solid to players (and fluids). The tooltip reads "Only solid to players".[1][3]
  • Tinted Ethereal Glass and Tinted Reverse Ethereal Glass combine vanilla Tinted Glass with the Ethereal or Reverse Ethereal behavior.[1]

Other building pieces

The mod also adds glass doors and trapdoors, including dyed stained glass versions and ones made from the mod's other glasses. You also get glass slabs and frameless panels made from all of the mod's glasses. The panel tooltip says they are frameless when inserted between blocks.[1][3]

The project page also says the mod fully supports connected textures through Fusion, and that vanilla glasses are replaced with connected-texture versions.[1]

Tip: Hover over a glass block in your inventory. The tooltip tells you whether it is solid to players, solid to entities, or emits a redstone signal. That makes it easy to tell the Ethereal and Reverse Ethereal variants apart.[3]

Recipes and progression

Unverified I have no confirmed in-pack recipes for this mod's items, so I can't show recipe blocks or say what to craft first. The pack also has no quests for this mod, and I found no in-jar guidebook. Check the recipe viewer in game for the exact crafting of each glass. This site does hold All the Mods 10's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

How does Glassential Renewed work?

3 parts

Glassential Renewed is a building mod, so there are no machines, power networks or item pipes to learn here. Its "mechanics" are the special properties each glass block has. Here is what the sources confirm.[1]

Special glass properties

  • Luminous Glass emits light, just like Glowstone.[1]
  • Redstone Glass emits a strong redstone signal, just like a Block of Redstone. The in-game tooltip says it emits a redstone signal.[1][3]
  • Ghostly Glass is not solid to any kind of entity.[1][3]
  • Ethereal Glass is not solid to players.[1][3]
  • Reverse Ethereal Glass is only solid to players, and also to fluids.[1][3]
  • Tinted Ethereal Glass and Tinted Reverse Ethereal Glass combine the properties of vanilla Tinted Glass with those of Ethereal Glass or Reverse Ethereal Glass.[1]

Panels, doors and slabs

The mod adds frameless panels made from all of its glasses. Their tooltip says they are frameless when inserted between blocks. One pane tooltip also lists "Not solid to players" as a property.[1][3]

You also get a simple glass door and trapdoor, plus doors and trapdoors made from all the Glassential blocks, dyed stained glass doors and trapdoors, and glass slabs.[1]

Connected textures

The mod has full connected-texture support through Fusion, which has been required since version 2.1.0. The project page also says the vanilla glasses are completely replaced by connected versions.[1]

Unverified The sources do not say whether this pack changes any Glassential values or recipes. No config files or recipes for the mod were available. Anything about how these blocks interact with item, fluid or power automation, beyond the properties listed above, is unconfirmed.

What changed in Glassential Renewed between versions?

1 part

All the Mods 10 0.46 ships Glassential Renewed 3.0.0 (the file Glassential-renewed-neoforge-1.21-3.0.0.jar). The pack's mod list says it was first included in 0.46 or earlier, so I can't tell you which pack release added it.[2]

Glassential Renewed 3.0.0

The 3.0.0 changelog calls this a 1.21 beta build. Everything works in it except the panes, so don't be surprised if glass panes misbehave.[4]

  • It requires NeoForge 21.0.143 or newer.[4]
  • The connected textures (CTM) are temporarily handled by the original mod, ConnectedTexturesMod.[4]
  • The changelog says ConnectedTexturesMod will most likely be replaced once the author of Fusion updates that mod to 1.21.[4]

There are no pack changelog entries for this mod, so I have nothing to report about changes between pack releases.[2]
