What is Glassential Renewed?
3 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 0.46 guide
Glassential Renewed is a building-focused mod that adds special glass types without the overhead of a big content mod. The project page pitches it as the cool glass you see in mods like Extra Utilities, such as glass that blocks light or glass that glows, in one lightweight package.[1]
The pack includes version 3.0.0 of the mod, built for NeoForge 1.21.[2]
What it adds
- Luminous Glass emits light, just like Glowstone.[1]
- Redstone Glass emits a strong redstone signal, just like a Block of Redstone.[1]
- Ghostly Glass is non-solid to all entities of any kind.[1]
- Ethereal Glass is non-solid to players, while Reverse Ethereal Glass is only solid to players (and fluids).[1]
- Tinted Ethereal Glass and Tinted Reverse Ethereal Glass combine the properties of vanilla Tinted Glass with their Ethereal counterparts.[1]
- Glass doors, glass trapdoors and glass slabs, plus doors and trapdoors made of all the Glassential blocks and dyed stained glass doors and trapdoors.[1]
- Frameless panels from all the glasses of the mod.[1]
The mod also replaces the vanilla glasses with connected-texture versions, and it supports connected textures through Fusion. The project page says Fusion has been required since version 2.1.0.[1]
Who it is for
This is a mod for builders. If you want a glowing window, a wall you can walk through, or a glass block that outputs a redstone signal, this is where you get them. It's handy for bases, hidden entrances and redstone-driven builds, and it doesn't ask you to learn a whole tech or magic system.[1]
Where it fits in progression
Unverified The sources I have don't show any quests involving this mod, and it isn't on the ATM Star path. They also don't say where the glasses unlock in progression, so treat it as a building-utility mod you can use whenever you like. Check the in-game recipes to see what each block needs. This site does hold FTB Skies 2: Aero's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.
How do you get started with Glassential Renewed?
5 parts
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide
Glassential Renewed is a building mod that adds several special kinds of glass, plus doors, trapdoors, panes and slabs to go with them. Here is the order I'd make things in, and why.[1]
Luminous Glass for light
Start with Luminous Glass. It emits light just like Glowstone, so you get a see-through light source for your base.[1]
Glass doors and slabs
Next, grab the simple pieces: Glass Door and Glass slab. They are the basic building blocks for windows and entrances.[1][3]

The mod also has frameless panes for all of its glasses. The tooltip says they are frameless when inserted between blocks, which makes for clean windows.[1][4]
Glass you can walk through
Ethereal Glass is not solid to players. Its sibling Reverse Ethereal Glass is the opposite and is only solid to players. If you want something even looser, Ghostly Glass is not solid to entities of any kind.[1][4]
The Glassential Brush and colorable glass
The Glassential Brush is worth making early. Right-click with it to configure it, and Shift + right-click any block to copy that block's color.[4]
Once you have the brush, craft Colorable Glass to use it on. Its tooltip says you change its color and properties with the brush. If you'd rather have a stained version, Colorable Stained Glass has its own recipe.[3][4]

Redstone Glass for automation
When you start wiring things up, Redstone Glass emits a strong redstone signal, just like a Block of Redstone.[1][4]

How does Glassential Renewed work?
7 parts
Glassential Renewed is a glass building mod. The mechanics here are about how each glass block behaves when you walk into it, light it up or paint it. Here is how each system works in this pack.[1]
Collision rules
Most of the special glasses are about who can walk through them. The block tooltips spell it out, and the mod's project page says the same.[1][5]
- Ghostly Glass is not solid to entities of any kind.[1][5]
- Ethereal Glass is not solid to players, so you can walk straight through it.[1][5]
- Reverse Ethereal Glass is the opposite: it is only solid to players (and fluids).[1][5]
- Tinted Ethereal Glass and Tinted Reverse Ethereal Glass combine those rules with the properties of vanilla Tinted Glass.[1]
- Gravity Glass softens your fall and has no collision.[5]
Reverse Ethereal Glass turns into Ethereal Glass with a simple shapeless craft, and an amethyst shard turns either one into its tinted version. The two tinted glasses also convert into each other with shapeless crafts.[6]

Light, redstone and special blocks
- Luminous Glass emits light, just like Glowstone.[1]
- Redstone Glass emits a strong redstone signal, just like a Block of Redstone.[1][5]
- The Lava Lamp is described as a natural lantern that burns like magma.[5]
- Ice Glass is described as ice in thermal glass that does not melt.[5]
- Some blocks are marked as resistant to explosions. For doors and trapdoors the tooltip says they work like iron ones.[5]
Clear Fluid Glass
Clear Fluid Glass removes the near-surface water face behind the glass, so you get a crystal-clear view into water. Clear Fluid Fake Glass is crafted from it, and both recipes are shown below.[5][6]

Makes 8 per craft.

Colorable glass and the Glassential Brush
Colorable Glass and Colorable Stained Glass can have their color and properties changed with the Glassential Brush. Right-click with the brush to configure it. Shift + right-click any block to copy its color. You get a message telling you whether the copy worked.[5]
The brush tuning screen has toggles for Emit Light, Emit Redstone Signal, Pass All Entities and Pass Player, plus an Apply button. That means one colorable block can take on the light, redstone and passthrough behaviors from the sections above.[5]
Colorable panes are cheap to make: one block of glass gives you 16 panes.[6]

One Way Glass
One Way Glass works as a secret window: it is transparent from one side and solid from the other. Right-click a face with any block to disguise that side.[5]
Panes, doors and trapdoors
The project page lists frameless panels made from the mod's glasses, and the pane tooltip says they lose their frame when inserted between blocks. The mod also adds doors, trapdoors and slabs, including dyed stained glass doors and trapdoors. The project page says connected textures need Fusion since version 2.1.0 and that vanilla glasses are replaced by connected versions.[1][5]
The acacia and bamboo glass doors and trapdoors are shapeless crafts that join the matching wooden door or trapdoor with a glass pane. The black, blue and brown glass doors are crafted straight from stained glass and make 3 doors per craft.[6]
Makes 3 doors per craft.
The pack adds its own stonecutting route for colored glass trapdoors: you cut the matching Connecting Stained Glass block into the trapdoor. The black, blue and brown versions are named in the recipe list, and the dump counts 17 stonecutting recipes of this kind.[6]

Config
The mod's common config only has a few options, and their descriptions are about logging and a message on common setup. items is set to Iron Ingot in this pack, and logDirtBlock is true. magicNumber is 42, the same as the mod default, and magicNumberIntroduction sets the intro text for that number.[7]
How do you progress through Glassential Renewed?
6 parts
Glassential Renewed has no built-in tech tree, so the way to progress is to climb its crafting chains yourself. Start with plain glass pieces, move on to lit and special glass, then branch into the Ethereal line and the colorable glass. Everything below comes from the in-pack recipes.[6]
Unverified The sources here do not show any quest chapter or quest for this mod, so there is no quest-book order to follow. If you want to check, look in the pack's quest book.
Tier one: plain glass pieces
The simplest crafts are the basics: the Glass Door, the Glass slab and the Glass TrapDoor. The slab feeds into the trapdoor, and the recipes are shown below.[6]

Tier 2: lit and special glass
Next come the glass blocks with a gimmick. Luminous Glass is the base for the lamps: the Glowstone Lamp, its tinted version, and Tinted Luminous Glass all build on it.[6]
Redstone Glass has its own recipe, and Tinted Redstone Glass builds on it. The Lava Lamp and Tinted Lava Lamp are separate crafts. Clear Fluid Glass leads into Clear Fluid Fake Glass in a second step.[6]

Tier 3: Ethereal and Tinted Ethereal glass
The Ethereal family is the deepest chain in the mod. Tinted Ethereal Glass makes 8 per craft. You can also make 2 of it from Ethereal Glass, and swap between the normal and Reverse versions with simple one-item conversions.[6]

Each Ethereal variant also has its own doors and trapdoors. Doors make 3 per craft and trapdoors make 2. Tinted Ethereal Glass Pane gives 16 panes per craft.[6]

Colorable glass and the brush
Colorable Glass and Colorable Stained Glass each have their own recipe, and their panes are crafted from them. The Glassential Brush is crafted separately, so make one when you are ready to colour them.[6]

Doors and trapdoors for every style
The wood-themed glass doors and trapdoors, such as Cherry Glass Door and Bamboo Glass Trapdoor, are shapeless crafts, each with its own recipe. The coloured doors, such as Blue Glass Door, are shaped crafts made from stained glass.[6]
The coloured trapdoors work differently in this pack. The pack adds stonecutting recipes that turn Connected Glass blocks from Connected Glass into trapdoors. The dump counts 17 of these, for example the Lime Glass Trapdoor.[6]

How does Glassential Renewed work with other mods?
2 parts
The one link between this mod and another mod that shows up in the pack's recipes is with the connecting glass blocks from the connected glass mod. The pack adds stonecutting recipes that turn those connecting glass blocks into the matching glass trapdoors from this mod.[6]
Connecting glass to glass trapdoors
Put a connecting glass block in a stonecutter and you can get the trapdoor in the same colour. For example, Connecting Black Stained Glass becomes Black Glass Trapdoor, and Connecting Blue Stained Glass becomes Blue Glass Trapdoor.[6]
Stonecutting
Recipe id: ftb:stonecutting/glassential/black_glass_trapdoor
Black is one example. The other colours use the same kind of pack-added stonecutting recipe.
Every dye colour has its own recipe, from white and orange through to red and black. Tinted glass is covered too: Connecting Tinted Glass becomes Tinted Glass Trapdoor.[6]
Stonecutting
Recipe id: ftb:stonecutting/glassential/tinted_glass_trapdoor
The tinted version is also a pack-added stonecutting recipe.
Connected textures
The mod's project page says that since version 2.1.0 it requires Fusion for connected textures, and that it has full connected texture support.[1]
Which Glassential Renewed config options matter?
1 part
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide
Good news: Glassential Renewed has very little to configure in this pack. The only file shown is the common config, and its options are about logging on common setup and a message built around a magic number.[8]
What this pack sets
- items is set to a list containing only minecraft:iron_ingot. The config describes it as a list of items to log on common setup.[8]
- logDirtBlock is set to true. It controls whether the dirt block is logged on common setup.[8]
- magicNumber is set to 42, which is also the mod default. It must be greater than 0.[8]
- magicNumberIntroduction is set to "The magic number is... ". The config describes it as the introduction message for the magic number.[8]
What changed in Glassential Renewed between versions?
1 part
Glassential Renewed has been in the pack since FTB Skies 2: Aero 1.0.3 or earlier. FTB Skies 2: Aero 1.10.0 ships version 3.4.5 of the mod. I have no pack changelog entries for this mod, so the only change I can point to is the one from the mod's own 3.4.5 changelog.[9]
Glassential Renewed 3.4.5
- Fixed: rain, snow and clouds now show through plain glass and One Way Glass, so you can watch the weather from inside your base.[10]
- Still the same as vanilla: coloured, stained and functional glasses block weather. The changelog explains that they need partial alpha for their tint, which conflicts with the pass that renders weather.[10]
