What is Glassential Renewed?
3 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 0.46 guide
Glassential Renewed is a building-focused mod that adds special glass types without the overhead of a big content mod. The project page pitches it as the cool glass you see in mods like Extra Utilities, such as glass that blocks light or glass that glows, in one lightweight package.[1]
The pack includes version 3.0.0 of the mod, built for NeoForge 1.21.[2]
What it adds
- Luminous Glass emits light, just like Glowstone.[1]
- Redstone Glass emits a strong redstone signal, just like a Block of Redstone.[1]
- Ghostly Glass is non-solid to all entities of any kind.[1]
- Ethereal Glass is non-solid to players, while Reverse Ethereal Glass is only solid to players (and fluids).[1]
- Tinted Ethereal Glass and Tinted Reverse Ethereal Glass combine the properties of vanilla Tinted Glass with their Ethereal counterparts.[1]
- Glass doors, glass trapdoors and glass slabs, plus doors and trapdoors made of all the Glassential blocks and dyed stained glass doors and trapdoors.[1]
- Frameless panels from all the glasses of the mod.[1]
The mod also replaces the vanilla glasses with connected-texture versions, and it supports connected textures through Fusion. The project page says Fusion has been required since version 2.1.0.[1]
Who it is for
This is a mod for builders. If you want a glowing window, a wall you can walk through, or a glass block that outputs a redstone signal, this is where you get them. It's handy for bases, hidden entrances and redstone-driven builds, and it doesn't ask you to learn a whole tech or magic system.[1]
Where it fits in progression
Unverified The sources I have don't show any quests involving this mod, and it isn't on the ATM Star path. They also don't say where the glasses unlock in progression, so treat it as a building-utility mod you can use whenever you like. Check the in-game recipes to see what each block needs. This site does hold FTB StoneBlock 4's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.
How do you get started with Glassential Renewed?
5 parts
Glassential Renewed adds a lot of building glass: glass that gives off light, glass that gives off a redstone signal, glass you can walk through, and matching doors, trapdoors and panes. It also replaces the vanilla glasses with connected-texture versions, so your windows look seamless. The recipes below are all crafting recipes, so you can start right away.[1][3]
First: make the Glassential Brush
Start with the Glassential Brush. It is the tool that changes the color and properties of colorable glass. Right-click with it to configure it, and you will see the Entity Passthrough and Player Passthrough options. Shift + right-click any block to copy its color.[4]
Next: colorable glass
Once you have the brush, craft Colorable Glass, the glass you recolor and tweak with it. If you prefer a stained look, Colorable Stained Glass has its own recipe.[3][4]
Crafting Shaped

Glass doors
The plain Glass Door is the simplest way to get a see-through entrance. The mod also has glass doors and trapdoors for the wood types, such as Acacia Glass Door and Acacia Glass Trapdoor, plus dyed versions such as Blue Glass Door.[1][3]
Walk-through glass
Ethereal Glass is not solid to players, so you can walk straight through it. Its opposite, Reverse Ethereal Glass, is only solid to players.[3][4]
If you want glass that nothing collides with, use Ghostly Glass. It is not solid to entities.[3][4]
Redstone glass and lamps
Redstone Glass emits a redstone signal, which makes it handy in builds that need a window and a signal source.[1][3][4]
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: glassential:glass_redstone
For lighting, the Lava Lamp is described as a natural lantern that burns like magma. The pack has changed its recipe, so follow the one below instead of what you may remember from the mod elsewhere. The tinted version, Tinted Lava Lamp, is changed by the pack too.[3][4]
How does Glassential Renewed work?
6 parts
Glassential Renewed is a building mod. It adds glass blocks with special behaviors rather than machines, so in this section you'll find collision rules, light, redstone and a color brush, not power or item handling.[1]
Collision and passthrough
- Ethereal Glass (Ethereal Glass) is not solid to players, so you can walk straight through it.[1][4]
- Reverse Ethereal Glass is the opposite: it is only solid to players (and fluids).[1][4]
- Ghostly Glass is non-solid to all entities of any kind.[1][4]
- Tinted Ethereal Glass combines the properties of vanilla Tinted Glass and Ethereal Glass. Tinted Reverse Ethereal Glass does the same with Reverse Ethereal Glass.[1]
- The gravity glass variant softens your fall and has no collision.[4]
Light and redstone
- Luminous Glass emits light, just like Glowstone.[1]
- Redstone Glass emits a strong redstone signal, just like a Block of Redstone.[1]
- The lava lamp glass is a natural lantern that burns like magma, and the thermal glass keeps ice from melting.[4]
Clear Fluid Glass
Clear Fluid Glass removes the near-surface water face behind the glass, which gives you a crystal-clear view into water. Here's how it's crafted in the pack:[3][4]
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: glassential:clear_fluid_glass
Clear Fluid Fake Glass is crafted from the Clear Fluid Glass, like this:[3]

Colorable glass, the brush and one-way glass
Colorable Glass lets you change its color and properties with the Glassential Brush. The painter tooltips say you right-click to configure it, and shift + right-click on any block copies that block's color. The configuration options shown are Entity Passthrough and Player Passthrough.[3][4]
Colorable Stained Glass is the stained version, and both have matching panes: Colorable Glass Pane and Colorable Stained Glass Pane.[3]
The one-way glass works as a secret window: it's transparent from one side and solid from the other. Right-click a face with any block to disguise that side.[4]
Panes, doors and trapdoors
Panes are frameless when inserted between blocks. Some panes are also not solid to players. The mod adds frameless panels for all its glasses, plus doors and trapdoors made from all its glass blocks, including dyed stained glass versions.[1][4]
The protected doors and trapdoors resist explosions and work like their iron counterparts.[4]
Wood-themed glass doors, such as Acacia Glass Door, are shapeless recipes that combine a normal door with a glass pane:[3]
Colored glass doors, such as Black Glass Door, are shaped recipes that start from the matching vanilla stained glass:[3]
Config
The mod's common config only has setup-logging options: items (a list of items to log on common setup, set to iron ingot in the pack), logDirtBlock (set to false), magicNumber (set to 42, the same as the mod default) and magicNumberIntroduction (an empty introduction message). None of these change glass behavior.[5]
How do you progress through Glassential Renewed?
6 parts
Glassential Renewed progression in this pack is a ladder of crafting upgrades. You start with plain glass pieces, then convert them into special glass, lamps, doors and trapdoors. Everything below follows the in-pack recipes.[3]
Unverified The sources here show no quests for this mod, so there is no quest-guided path to describe. Any quest guidance would be told in the pack's quest chapters. The order below comes from the recipes alone.
Basic glass shapes
The entry point is plain glass turned into building pieces: Glass slab, Glass Door and Glass TrapDoor. The recipes are shown below.[3]

Special glass from plain glass
Next come the glass types that each add a behaviour. Ethereal Glass and Ghostly Glass are shapeless recipes that start from plain glass. Redstone Glass, Ice Glass and Clear Fluid Glass are shaped recipes that also start from plain glass.[3]
Iron Glass is one of the recipes the pack changed. It accepts any iron ingot from the shared iron ingot tag, so whichever iron you have works.[3]

Upgrading what you already made
The later pieces are built from the special glass above, which is how the mod chains together. Here are the main upgrade paths:[3]
- Ethereal Glass and Reverse Ethereal Glass can be converted into each other. Tinted Ethereal Glass and Tinted Reverse Ethereal Glass do the same.[3]
- Tinted Ethereal Glass has more than one route: it can be crafted directly or made by upgrading Ethereal Glass. The reverse tinted version can likewise be made by upgrading Reverse Ethereal Glass.[3]
- Gravity Glass is an upgrade of Iron Glass, so make Iron Glass first.[3]
- Clear Fluid Fake Glass is an upgrade of Clear Fluid Glass.[3]
- Tinted Redstone Glass upgrades Redstone Glass with tinted glass.[3]
- Tinted Luminous Glass upgrades Luminous Glass with tinted glass.[3]

Lamps
The lamps build on the light line. Glowstone Lamp and Glowstone Tinted lamp are built from Luminous Glass. The lava lamps work differently in this pack: Lava Lamp and Tinted Lava Lamp are both recipes the pack changed, and they accept any lava bucket from the shared lava bucket tag.[3]

Panes, doors and trapdoors
Most glass types have a matching pane, door and trapdoor. Examples are Ethereal Glass Pane, Ethereal Glass Door and Ghostly Glass TrapDoor. Stained-glass doors and trapdoors, such as Blue Glass Door and Blue Glass Trapdoor, have their own recipes, shown below.[3]
There are also wood-type glass doors and trapdoors, such as Cherry Glass Door and Bamboo Glass Trapdoor. They are shapeless recipes that combine a vanilla door or trapdoor with a glass pane. The Iron Glass door and trapdoor follow the same pattern.[3]

Colorable glass and the brush
If you want custom colours, craft Colorable Glass or Colorable Stained Glass, each of which has a matching pane. The Glassential Brush is the Glassential Brush, and it has its own recipe.[3]

Which Glassential Renewed config options matter?
1 part
Good news: Glassential Renewed has a very small config in this pack. Everything lives in one file, config/glassential-common.toml, and the options are about logging messages when the game does its common setup. None of them are listed as controlling the glass blocks themselves.[5]
What the pack sets
- items is set to a list containing only Iron Ingot. It is described as a list of items to log on common setup.[5]
- logDirtBlock is set to false. It controls whether the dirt block is logged on common setup.[5]
- magicNumber is set to 42, which is also the mod default. The valid range is anything above 0.[5]
- magicNumberIntroduction is set to an empty string. It is the introduction message for the magic number.[5]
Unverified The mod defaults for the items list, the dirt block logging and the introduction message aren't given in the sources, so whether the pack changed them is unconfirmed.
What changed in Glassential Renewed between versions?
4 parts
FTB StoneBlock 4 1.21.0 ships Glassential Renewed 3.4.5, and the mod has been in the pack since 1.0.0 or earlier. Here are the notable changes from the mod's own changelogs, newest first.[6]
3.4.5
- Rain, snow and clouds now show through plain glass and One Way Glass.[7]
- Coloured, stained and functional glasses still block weather like in vanilla. They need partial alpha for their tint, which conflicts with the pass that renders weather.[7]
3.4.4
This one fixes a nasty crash (a StackOverflowError). It happened when a One Way Glass was disguised as another One Way Glass, and it could crash on placement and corrupt the world so it crashed on every load. Affected worlds now load fine.[8]
3.4.2
- Added Tinted One Way Glass.[9]
- Water faces next to Clear Fluid Glass are now culled, using a LiquidBlockRenderer mixin.[9]
- One Way Glass faces now connect via Fusion CTM like the rest of the glass blocks. It works on both sides, including through the opaque (mimic) face when the mimic is glass.[9]
- Updated the PT_BR localization.[9]
3.3.2
- Hotfix for a missing tinted glass trapdoor registration.[10]
- Glass Slab connection is now nearly perfect.[10]
- Fixed Clear Fluid Fake Glass damage in survival mode.[10]
- Tinted Ethereal Glass Pane and Tinted Reverse Ethereal Glass are now actually tinted.[10]
- Fixed Ghost Glass and Gravity Glass placing in water.[10]
- Updated the zh_cn translation.[10]
Unverified The 3.4.1 changelog only points to an external page, so what changed in that release is unconfirmed here. There are also no pack changelog entries for this mod.
