What is Glassential Renewed?
3 parts
Glassential Renewed is a building mod that adds a set of special glass blocks. It's aimed at players who want the clever glass you'd normally get from a big content mod, such as Extra Utilities, without all the overhead of a major mod. This pack includes version 3.4.5.[1][2]
The glasses
- Luminous Glass emits light, just like Glowstone.[1]
- Redstone Glass emits a strong redstone signal, just like a Block of Redstone.[1]
- Ghostly Glass is non-solid to all entities of any kind.[1]
- Ethereal Glass is non-solid to players, while Reverse Ethereal Glass is only solid to players (and fluids).[1]
- Tinted Ethereal Glass and Tinted Reverse Ethereal Glass combine vanilla Tinted Glass properties with the Ethereal or Reverse Ethereal behavior.[1]
Extras for building
Besides the glass blocks, the mod adds a simple glass door and glass trapdoor. It also adds doors and trapdoors made from all of its glass blocks, dyed stained glass doors and trapdoors, glass slabs, and frameless panels made from every glass in the mod.[1]
The mod has full connected-textures support through Fusion, and the vanilla glasses are completely replaced by connected-texture versions. That makes large glass walls and windows look much cleaner.[1]
Where it fits in the pack
The mod has been in the pack since version 2.25 or earlier. It's a decorative and utility building option rather than a progression gate, so you can use it whenever you like.[2]
Unverified No quests in this pack involve this mod, and it isn't on the ATM Star path. No in-jar guidebook was found for it either.
How do you get started with Glassential Renewed?
5 parts
Glassential Renewed adds specialty glass for building: glass that glows, glass that emits a redstone signal, glass that some or all things can walk through, plus doors, trapdoors and frameless panes made from them. Here is the order I would tackle things in, with the in-pack recipe shown after each step.[1]
Start with Luminous Glass
Make Luminous Glass first. It emits light just like Glowstone, so one block is both a window and a light source. It is the quickest way to see what the mod is about.[1]
Craft the Glassential Brush
Next, make the Glassential Brush. Colorable glass, like Colorable Glass, lets you change its color and properties with the brush. Right-click with the brush to configure it, and shift + right-click any block to copy its color.[3][4]
Redstone Glass
Redstone Glass emits a strong redstone signal, just like a Block of Redstone. This pack changed its recipe, so follow the recipe below rather than a recipe from the mod's defaults or another guide.[1][4]
Ghostly and Ethereal Glass
These glasses change who can pass through them. Ghostly Glass is not solid to entities, while Ethereal Glass is not solid to players.[1][3]
Doors and panes
Once you have a glass you like, you can turn it into doors, trapdoors and panes. The mod offers doors and trapdoors made from all of its glass blocks, and its panes are frameless when inserted between blocks. A good place to start is the plain Glass Door.[1][3]
How does Glassential Renewed work?
7 parts
Glassential Renewed is a building mod, so there are no machines, multiblocks, power networks or fluid pipes to set up. The mechanics are in how each glass behaves when you walk into it, power it or look through it. The sources describe no machine-style systems, so this section covers the glass behaviours they do describe.[1][3]
Who can walk through what
Several glasses are defined by what they let through. Ghostly Glass is non-solid to all entities of any kind. Ethereal Glass is non-solid to players only, and its tooltip reads "Not solid to players".[1][3]
Reverse Ethereal Glass does the opposite: it is only solid to players (and fluids). The tinted variants combine the Ethereal or Reverse Ethereal behaviour with the properties of vanilla Tinted Glass. These are Tinted Ethereal Glass and Tinted Reverse Ethereal Glass.[1][3]
The plain Ethereal Glass block is Ethereal Glass. Some panes also carry a "Not solid to players" tooltip, and panes are described as frameless when inserted between blocks.[3][4]
Light, redstone and special effects
- Luminous Glass emits light, just like Glowstone.[1]
- Redstone Glass emits a strong redstone signal, just like a Block of Redstone. Its tooltip reads "Emits a redstone signal".[1][3]
- Some glass has a tooltip for a gravity effect: it softens the fall and has no collision.[3]
- A thermal glass tooltip says the ice inside does not melt.[3]
- A lava lamp tooltip describes a natural lantern that burns like magma.[3]
- Protected glass is resistant to explosions. The protected door and trapdoor tooltips say they work like an iron door and an iron trapdoor.[3]
One-way glass
The one-way glass is a secret window: transparent from one side and solid from the other. Its hint says to right-click a face with any block to disguise that side.[3]
Clear fluid glass
Clear Fluid Glass removes the near-surface water face behind the glass, which gives you a crystal-clear view. Clear Fluid Fake Glass is crafted from the Clear Fluid Glass. Both recipes below are the ones used in this pack.[3][4]

Colorable glass and the brush
Colorable Glass and Colorable Stained Glass can have their color and properties changed with the Glassential Brush. Their panes are Colorable Glass Pane and Colorable Stained Glass Pane.[3][4]
The painter tooltips say you right-click to configure it, and shift + right-click on any block copies its color. They also list Entity Passthrough and Player Passthrough options.[3]

Glass doors and trapdoors
The mod makes doors and trapdoors from its glass blocks, plus dyed stained glass doors and trapdoors. In this pack the wood-type glass doors, such as Acacia Glass Door, are shapeless recipes. The dyed ones, such as Blue Glass Door, are crafted from the matching stained glass. The Ethereal doors and trapdoors are crafted from their matching glass blocks.[1][4]
Wood-type glass doors follow this pattern.
Dyed glass doors are made from the matching stained glass.

Connected textures
Since version 2.1.0 the mod requires Fusion for connected textures. The project page also says vanilla glasses have been completely replaced by connected versions.[1]
Unverified The sources here do not show any config options for this mod, since the pack has no config files for it, so any tunable behaviour of these glasses is not confirmed.
How do you progress through Glassential Renewed?
5 parts
Glassential Renewed has no locked tech tree in this pack. Every recipe I can see for it is a regular crafting recipe, shaped or shapeless, so progression is a ladder of upgrades: you start with plain glass pieces and convert them into fancier glass types. Part of the recipe list was cut off in my sources, so the tiers below are the path I could confirm.[4]
Unverified The sources here show no quests involving this mod, so I can't say where the pack's quest book places it. The tiers below follow the recipes only.
Basic glass pieces
The entry level is the simple building set: Glass slab, Glass Door and Glass TrapDoor. The trapdoor recipe is shown below.[4]

Special glass types
Next come the special glass types: Ethereal Glass, Ghostly Glass, Luminous Glass, Ice Glass and Clear Fluid Glass. The Ethereal, Ghostly and Luminous lines also have pane, door and trapdoor versions. Recipes for Ethereal, Ghostly and Luminous Glass are below.[4]
Upgrades and variants
The next step builds on the special glass you already made instead of starting from scratch. These are the chains I could confirm:[4]
- Ethereal Glass leads to Tinted Ethereal Glass and Reverse Ethereal Glass. The reverse version converts back to Ethereal Glass.[4]
- Luminous Glass leads to Tinted Luminous Glass, Glowstone Lamp and Glowstone Tinted lamp.[4]
- Clear Fluid Glass is the base for Clear Fluid Fake Glass.[4]
- Iron Glass is the base for Gravity Glass.[4]
- Redstone Glass can be upgraded to Tinted Redstone Glass.[4]
- Lava Lamp and Tinted Lava Lamp are the lava lamps, and they have their own crafting recipes.[4]

Recipes the pack changed
Both Iron Glass and Redstone Glass are marked as changed by the pack. They accept any item from a matching tag (iron ingots for Iron Glass, redstone storage blocks for Redstone Glass) instead of a single fixed item. The recipes below are the in-pack versions, so don't rely on the mod's defaults here.[4]

Doors, trapdoors and colors
Doors and trapdoors follow a few patterns. The wood-themed glass doors, like Acacia Glass Door, are shapeless recipes that combine the matching wooden door or trapdoor with a glass pane. The colored ones, like Blue Glass Door, are crafted straight from the matching stained glass. The special-glass doors are made from their own glass block.[4]
If you want custom colors, look at Colorable Glass, Colorable Stained Glass and the Glassential Brush, the Glassential Brush. The colorable glass blocks have pane versions too.[4]
What changed in Glassential Renewed between versions?
1 part
Glassential Renewed has been part of All the Mods 10 since version 2.25 or earlier. The current pack, 8.1, ships version 3.4.5 (the 1.21.1 jar). The last time it changed was in 7.2, so 8.1 doesn't touch it.[2][5]
Version bumps by pack release
Here is every update to the mod that the pack changelogs record, from oldest to newest.[5][6][7][8][9][10][11][12][13]
- 2.42: updated from 3.1.5 to 3.1.6.[6]
- 2.47: updated from 3.1.6 to 3.1.7.[7]
- 4.5: updated from 3.1.7 to 3.1.8.[8]
- 4.6: updated from 3.1.8 to 3.2.1.[9]
- 4.11: updated from 3.2.1 to 3.3.2.[10]
- 5.5: updated from 3.3.2 to 3.4.1.[11]
- 7.0: updated from 3.4.1 to 3.4.2.[12]
- 7.1: updated from 3.4.2 to 3.4.4.[13]
- 7.2: updated from 3.4.4 to 3.4.5, the version 8.1 still uses.[2][5]
Unverified The pack changelogs only record which version the mod moved to. What each Glassential Renewed update actually added or fixed is unverified, because there are no stored changelogs for the shipped jars.
